Kapstadt, die 350 Jahre alte Mutterstadt Südafrikas, besitzt eine der schönsten Umgebungen der Welt. Die Symbiose aus Grossstadtflair und der bezaubernden Lage am Ozean sowie die Vielfalt der Nationen, das Nebeneinander der ersten und dritten Welt und das schöne sowie abwechslungsreiche Hinterland lasse keine Wünsche offen. Berühmt ist Kapstadt vor allem durch den Tafelberg - das Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Cape Town, the 350 year old mother city of South Africa, has one of the most beautiful surroundings in the world. The symbiosis of big city flair and the enchanting location by the ocean as well as the diversity of nations, the coexistence of the first and third worlds and the beautiful and varied hinterland leave nothing to be desired. Cape Town is especially famous for the Table Mountain - the symbol of the city. The striking, plateau-shaped surface of the table mountain, together with Signal Hill, Lions Head and Devils Peak, dominates the entire cityscape and  built the skyline so unique worldwide.

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, much of it within parks, reserves and safari areas. On the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls make a thundering 108m drop into narrow Batoka Gorge, where there’s white-water rafting and bungee-jumping. Downstream are Matusadona and Mana Pools national parks, home to hippos, rhinos and birdlife.

Simbabwe ist ein Binnenland im Süden von Afrika, das für seine beeindruckende Landschaft und vielfältige Fauna in Parks, Reservaten und Safarigebieten bekannt ist. Am Sambesi donnern die Victoriafälle über 108 m hinab in die schmale Batoka-Schlucht, wo Rafting und Bungee-Jumping angeboten werden. Flussabwärts liegen die Nationalparks Matusadona und Mana-Pools, wo Nilpferde, Nashörner und verschiedene Vogelarten leben. 

The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is situated around the historic Victoria and Alfred basins. Its setting is incomparable, and continuous activity is provided by the working harbour. There are scenic views of Table Mountain, historic buildings, museums, live entertainment, boat trips, helicopter flights, cinemas and numerous stores and restaurants. The Two Oceans Aquarium and trips to Robben Island are major attractions. Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre, Alfred Mall, Pierhead, Waterfront Trading Company and Red Shed Craft Workshop are popular shopping destinations, catering for most shopping needs. Street musicians and other buskers add to the festive atmosphere of the Waterfront.

Die Victoria & Alfred Waterfront befindet sich rings um das historische Victoria und Alfred Becken. Die Lage ist unvergleichbar und in dem Hafen herrscht reges Treiben. Von hier aus kann man den Tafelberg sehen und es gibt historische Gebäude, Museen, live Unterhaltung, Bootsfahrten, Helikopterflüge, Kinos, und verschiedene Stände und Restaurants. Das Two Oceans Aquarium und Ausflüge zu Robben Island sind sehr beliebt.   Das Victoria Wharf Einkaufszentrum, die Alfred Mall, Pierhead, die Waterfront Trading Company und der Red Shed Craft Workshop sind beliebte Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und bieten etwas für jeden Geschmack. Straßenmusiker und andere Künstler tragen zu der ausgelassenen Stimmung an der Waterfront bei.

Botswana ist ein weites Binnenland mit einem Umfang von circa 582 000 Quadratkilometern, das von seinen Nachbarn Südafrika, Simbabwe, Sambia und Namibia durch Flüsse getrennt wird, wovon einige nur in der Regenzeit fließen.

Zwei Drittel des Landes bestehen aus der Kalahari Wüste, einer staub verwehten, halbtrockenen, flachen Ebene. Sehenswürdigkeiten sind unter anderem der Chobe Nationalpark, das Moremi Wildtierreservat, das Okavango Delta, die Linyanti Sümpfe, die Makgadikgadi Pfannen, das Zentralkalahari Wildtierreservat, Tuli Block und der Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Die Regenzeit ist von November bis April und die Trockenzeit von Mai bis Oktober.      

A vast land-locked area of approximately 582,000 square kilometres, Botswana is divided from its neighbours, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia, mainly by rivers, some of which flow only during the wet season.

Two-thirds of the country is covered by the Kalahari Desert, a wind-blown, semi-arid, flat plain. Places of interest are the Chobe National Park, Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Okavango Delta, Linyanti Swamp, Makgadikgadi Pans, Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Tuli Block and Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The rainy season is from November to April, with the dry period May to October.

Das Sossusvlei ist eine Salz-Ton-Pfanne, welche von Dünen umschlossen ist. In der Sprache der Nama bedeutet Sossus soviel wie blinder Fluss, da der Tsauchab-Fluss, wenn er mal Wasser führt, auf dem Weg zur Pfanne versickert, ohne die Atlantikküste, welche nur 50 km entfernt ist, oberirdisch zu erreichen. Durch Versandung und Abschnitt des Flusses entstanden über die gesamten 50km bis zum Atlantik verschiedene Vleis, wovon das Sossusvlei das berühmteste ist. Der Wind tat ein Übriges und bildete die bis zu 300 m hohen Dünen, die höchsten der Welt, welche die Pfanne umgeben.

The Sossusvlei is a salt-clay pan surrounded by dunes. In the Nama language Sossus means something like “blind river” and refers to the Tsauchab River, which when in flood seeps away in the desert without reaching the only 50 km far Atlantic above ground. Due to sanding up and cutting off of the river the whole 50 km to the Atlantic consists of different vleis, of which the Sossusvlei is the best known. To compound the situation the wind formed the famous up to 300 metre high dunes, which surround the vleis.
