tricking yourself into doing tasks that make you nervous
you know the situations. when you get wrapped up overthinking and suddenly, this seemingly easy task seems horrible and daunting. here are some tips to help you trick your brain into completing the action.
visualise success. imagine how good it will feel once the task is completed. this can boost your motivation and reduce anxiety.
pair the task with an enjoyable activity - for example listening to your favourite music or having a nice cup of coffee while working.
promise yourself a reward for completing the task. it could be something small like a treat or a break to do something you enjoy.
tell yourself that you're just excited. you're challenging yourself. this positive gaslighting will help you feel more positive about your nervous energy.

Hi dear, I saw your post about moving to Spain and it resonated with me a lot. I moved away for uni 15 years ago β from Japan to the US. I remember it being so exciting and intimidating. If I could give you any advice it would be:
1. Donβt beat yourself up about being apprehensive. This is going to be one of the biggest transitions of your entire life! But know that youβre going to a place where you will find many people experiencing something similar, and there are systems in place at your university to support you and your community of foreign students as you make that transition.
2. If you wake up in the middle of the night, donβt think about it. Everything is 100x scarier at 3am. Give yourself permission to put those thoughts aside and mull things over in the morning when life is more concrete.
3. Make a conscious effort to say goodbye to your home, family and current life. Many people put this off because itβs difficult and sad, but it ultimately helps you process and move forward. Revisit all your favorite spots before you leave, eat your favorite foods from your home country, plan special time one-on-one with your family members (and take pics! I did this and hung them in my dorm room), and even have a going away party if thatβs an option for you.
Ultimately, you are going to have an incredible experience abroad (I think you know this too). Youβre very brave to venture far away on your first journey and you will be so thankful for it. I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy your time at home before your new adventure begins :)

barely passed a math exam but ehy still passed. it's been a tough couple of months.

signs of self-sabotage, a.k.a. inner red flags π© (and my tips to fix them!)
π© you set up unmanageably big goals and short deadlines for yourself. (the fix: set up daily, small goals that are in accordance to your skills and possibilities instead of your desires.)
π© you beat yourself up whenever something goes wrong, and label yourself as a failure. (the fix: understand that the path of progress demands mistakes so that you can learn, adjust and level up, and that the only way you can fail is by stopping your work.)
π© you're constantly comparing yourself to the people around you, and expecting their opinion on you. (the fix: playing the protagonist role in your life doesn't mean performing for an audience, it means writing your own story for yourself. nobody is watching over you, unless you're inviting their gaze, and most people will try to bring you down rather than lift you up because they themselves are insecure and lost. you're risking placing your self-worth in the hands of losers.)
π© you complain about your life all the time. (the fix: you're alive, which means you're in charge of the endless project that is you. complaining is just self-pity, and your "poor me" mentality is an excuse you use to not put in effort and hard work.)
your life is your responsibility. your life doesn't "happen" to you, you're in charge whether you like it or not. if you're unsatisfied with your life, it's up to you to find out what you need to do to change it!

stop letting your potential and life go to waste because you don't feel confident or ready enough
