ahhh i absolutely love this. i'm a korean-american writer of ya romance or fantasy (mythology).
not fully fleshed out but people are free to ask about my current wip, where i dabble with east asian folklore and korean colonization. currently labeled "princess bari," it's a mythological fantasy that deals with colonization and the downfall of a kingdom, and features benevolent dragons and (obviously) deaths with high-risks. i'd love any asks about it!
other than that, i post random writing memes, writing tips/resources, fanfic drabbles, and pretty much anything i'm feeling at the moment.
you can basically find my wips here; and ig my ko-fi if anyone wants to help out a broke college student undergoing an existential crisis about her asian american identity :)
To do something positive on top of all this, if you're a writer of color, can you reblog and share something about yourself or your writing projects? Links so people can check them out would be great too!
It's not just about dunking on racists but making sure the stories that need to be heard are heard.

Trick or treat! 🎃
treat! 🎃
the current wip i'm working on features gumiho's, or nine-tailed foxes. they're essentially shape-shifting creatures (foxes) that need to eat the liver of 1000 people in order to become immortal.
they do so by passing a bead and gaining your energy when kissing you, which they can because they have this allure that makes you fall under their spell. but if a human obtains this bead, they can have the knowledge of the world, and of all living things.
thanks for the ask! xx
trick or treat asks/event here
like being haunted by the ghosts of my history that i've neglected, like accepting discrimination as a rite of passage, like believing that to survive, you must assimilate and stay silent.
it is looking at the newspaper and the number of killings, and flipping the page to absorb material more lighthearted. it is dehumanizing victims to simple entities rather than remembering their names, conveniently forgetting and moving on like such an event never happened in the first place. it is remaining silent and internalizing all this pressure and pain, waiting for someone else to speak out about it first in order to feel relief.
it is fitting yourself into a mold that has been exploited and will be. a blind belief that you'll make it out somehow, that throwing away your culture, your language, your accent, is worth it, when it's not. it is erasing a whole history of trauma and colonization because it is simply not talked about, simply erased.
it is forgetting your identity and then having such a sense of loss that you can't move on.
What does your regret taste like?
I FEEL CALLED OUT-
“it’s me, hi, i’m the problem, it’s me” - the blank page with the blinking cursor, hours after I was supposed to have written 100 words

More than anything in the world, Rosalind Lang wanted redemption, and if this was how she got it, then so be it.
— FOUL LADY FORTUNE, CHLOE GONG
I love antagonists who mirror the protagonist instead of contrast them. They are the most extreme version of the protagonist, someone with the same dreams and beliefs who believed these things could only be achieved by the sharpest tools. The crushing weight of knowing that could be you.
