It's going well for me so far, I had a good party yesterday and I texted him before midnight saying happy new year with a picture of my martini glass. haha R wrote back saying happy new year and sent me a picture of him holding a glass of champagne and guess what was on his wrist??? Okay this story is cute and funny. People change so much over the years, especially at such a young age, and it's great that this thing didn't tear you apart and the friendship remained. Perhaps college-aged adults would be less able to handle this among themselves, unless they are very good friends.
