It's ace awareness week!!! This is the only time I will allow myself to be made aware of and perceived before I crawl back into the depths of the void! Here's a treat
because it's ace week here's something to remember;
when someone comes out to you as ace and your first question is "have you had sex?" and if they say no they haven't and you tell them to try it before coming out as asexual then you obviously don't know what asexuality is. same goes for if you only accept they're asexual if they said they tried sex and they hate it!
asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction, there are asexuals who are sexually active and asexuals who aren't. some are sex repulsed, some are sex positive and some are indifferent to it. whether your asexual friend has sex or not isn't any of your business unless of course even talking about it makes them uncomfortable and they ask you to steer clear of the topic.
if your ace friend has had and enjoys sex and your first thought is to ask them if they're still asexual, you're once again not understanding what asexuality is. asexuals can have sex for their partner, because they want kids or any other reason, they can also not have sex because they don't like it, it isn't pleasurable or any other reason. it doesn't make them less ace and you honestly shouldn't be obsessing over their sexuality that much.
lack of sexual attraction doesn't mean lack of sexual arousal.
basically, asking someone asexual whether they've had sex before coming out as ace doesn't say shit about their sexuality and it just tells you whether they like sex or not.
your asexual friend is repulsed by sex? respect that.
your asexual friend is indifferent to sex? respect that.
your asexual friend has sex and/or enjoys it? respect that.
don't. be. acephobic.
