“In the center of the storm, there is calm. In the center of confusion, there is peace. In the center of exhaustion, there is rest. Cernunnos, sitting in the midst of the world, lead me to the center and grant me the calm and peace and rest that is found there.” - Ceisiwr Serith A Book of Pagan Prayer http://amzn.to/157Ypzd Image Credit: vityso @ DeviantArt

Druidic Prayer to Kernunnos
Great stag with golden horns,
Master of Life and Death
Moors and Woods Runner
Accept our offerings
king of the forest
Lord of the oaks of the yews and the birches
Divine host of our thickets
Grant us your blessings
We are proud to be your children
Give us your blessings!
Just like the oak and the boars
O Master of Nature,
Guide your pure-hearted sons
Towards the clearing that awaits them
Under the three golden rays of the undefeated sun
In the ultimate heart of the forest
And accept offerings from their hands!
Awen!

Grand cerf aux cornes d'or,

Awen !

Hymn to Cernunnos
By Taliesin
Photographer and artist unknows found on pinterest articles
From the first cries,
Since the Dawn of Time,
Beyond the thick shadow of night,
Beyond the vibrating brightness of the day,
In power you watch and abide,
Rumbling and haughty, protective father.
So many times since your advent the Wheel has turned
So many times in your deep caves the waters have flowed
So many times under your instinct the earth has vibrated
So many times, in your name, mysteries have been revealed.
And the men of old, in the mist, stood up for you
And the women of yesterday, under a dome of stars, danced for you.
From the first tremors of the world
Every union of beings through you has become fruitful.
Wild god, who searches the night
Now I sing to you.
I sing to you, in the ancient woods.
I sing to you, according to the wind that inspires.
I sing to you, on the sacred heights of my country.
I sing to you in front of the world
And reaffirm the bond that unites me to You,
the Mist Slayer
He who opens our heights
You, the bearer of the flame of life
Masters of beasts and serpents,
Thou Great Purifier
He who kneads the creative humus
And survey our dreams as priests.
By the Deer that splits the forest
By the torque and the serpent!
Womb of the Mother!
Holy Mound!
Life Force!
Dark Roots!
Let the golden sap rise!
I sing to you, Flayed Lord!
I name you, Fertile God!
O Cernunnos!
Great Horned!
Regent of the Other Kingdom!
In the right balance that ties it all together
Let your power purify the Earth from all defilement,
And rekindle in us the fire of Life.
Let your wild spirit enter this circle,
Envelop this circle,
Protect this circle.
May your free spirit, nourished by ageless instinct,
Awaken in these places the Supreme Wyvern!
Taliesin is an important figure in Celtic mythology and Welsh literature, both a sixth-century historical poet and a mythical bard of Welsh literature. It is not always easy to tell them apart, especially since the latter is sometimes equated with Myrddin. His name is also associated with the Book of Taliesin, a collection of manuscript poems from the tenth century but thought to be contemporary in composition with the historical bard. Legend makes him the "Chief of the Bards of Brittany".
Ave the Horned God of Old.
Friendly witch reminder that Cernunnos will take literally anything as an offering.
Sparkly river rocks? Jar of clay? Pinecones and herbs? Pretty leaves?
He loves that stuff!!
Cherry coke, weird stick you found off the ground, twine braids and glass beads?
He loves that stuff too!!! Cernunnos is a trinket man. Give him little shiny trinket things
Cernunnos and Nodens
The duality of man
Two ancient Celtic gods who, thanks to the aural tradition of the Druids and the stabbing tradition of the Romans, we know very little about. But I've been thinking about what we do know about them and I have some speculation that has zero evidence but I'd like to share anyway.
To me they seem to be gods of different aspects of the same things. To quote Terry Pratchett, to be human is "To be the place where the Fallen Angel meets the Rising Ape," we aren't quite animals but nor are we divine. We have one foot in each camp.
Cernunnos represents our beastial side while Nodens represents our civilised side. Here's my reasoning:
Cernunnos is god of wildlife. Nodens is the god of dogs, our first domesticated animal.
Cernunnos is a god of fertility, or at least male virility. Nodens is a god of healing. One is the base lust that creates new life, the other is practiced learning that preserves existing life.
Nodens is a hunting/fishing god, as in the practical activities we do to sustain ourselves. Cernunnos is god of THE HUNT, as in the actual bloody thrill of the chase.
Another way to look at this last one would be; Cernunnos is a hunting god whereas Nodens is a war god. The two forms of violence man partakes in, one is arguably natural while the other man made. However, I feel the need to point out that Nodens isn't exactly a war god, he's a healer god, but the Roman soldiers in Britain associated him with Mars, a war god who from the perspective of a soldier had healer aspects.

Ok so I am quite SHITE at like posting content of my materializing endeavors, and crafting binges. My inspiration usually strikes randomly, and I become engrossed in the process and thinking of creative ways around problems. Soooooooo this little guy was teased in my last unload dump, this mask was going to be a part of sword staff. However this mask is small and dinky and the material is super thin and brittle, when I would squeeze it I’d hear cracking sounds. Then again I have orc strength so the mask material might be ok but for me it wasn’t durable enough. The mask is also too small and the straps in the back weren’t the best for wearing it securely, and I plan on turning the mask into a helm with artificial leaves, feathers, and some flowers attached to the “hair/mane” with a sort of cape.
So the steps I didn’t record was basically the complete deconstruction process of that ugly little mask, the ugly small antlers had to go, they weren’t symmetrical. The color is also displeasing, I’m going for a more white sun-bleached bone look. With bigger more sturdy antlers and the back of the skull added, so the mask is a helm. I also wanted to add lower jaw bones and fill out the upper jaw as the mask didn’t have either, I had to outsource the upper and lower jaws with a mask I got from the Halloween section of a store. The plastic was just as shitty, so it was reinforced along with the rest of the mask. I used the same thermal plastic beads to sculpt and extend the jaw, reinforce the whole mask, and attach the jaws and teeth
I’d say this was the early stages BUT that’s a damn lie, this was after some weeks of progress. The jaw bones and teeth were added, the antlers were added, the mask was changed into a helm, the muzzle was extended, the cape was added, the mane/hair was added, and the artificial fixings were added (partially). It’s hard to see from these horrible angles, but the cape part is added to underside of the helm and to the back of the helm. The hair/mane was braided fabric strips with the leaves and feathers sewn to the braids, then attached to a jewelry wire “weft” and attached to the back of the skull with thermal plastic.
I’ve added a lot more leaves and such since those pics were taken, I also have more to add. I recently found this gorgeous moth wing cape on Etsy that goes with the theme, so I bought it. And I have a type of shirt/shawl thing I’m going to sew the cape to help keep it secured better when I wear it. I plan on going to events with this on, Halloween, renaissance fairs, cons, and the like. I want to make sure the helm doesn’t slide off
This is the gorgeous moth wing cape I bought from CostureoroReal on Etsy, you can see all the leaves have been added from even this shit poor angle. I still have more tweaking to do on the helm and hair, the hair isn’t as full as I would’ve liked and some of the helm is crooked. And I don’t like things that aren’t symmetrical, so that’ll have to be fixed. I shall endeavor to record my progress as I go on from this point, for whatever fans I have or gain from these posts. Thanks for viewing!
