Emotion-based magic is just...10/10. Characters causing destruction in a rage, only to be horrified by what they’ve done? Excellent. Characters being ten times stronger when someone they love is in danger? Wonderful. Characters claiming they don’t care, yet their magic says otherwise? Perfect.

new trope villain that is incompetent on purpose and could definitely murder the hero at anytime but likes to see them happy

LOVE chosen ones, but god do I not collapse in a pool of my own blood for characters that are just SOME GUY, like man it couldve been ANYONE and it was you, there is no reason, you werent born into it or for it, you were simply caught into fate's crossfire. Prove to yourself and destiny that sees you as a mere pawn, that yes it couldve been anyone, but it was you, and you are the best goddamn person for the job. Walk among the stars until they tell stories of you when your gone. Learn to be Somebody, after being seen as nothing for so long. Do good, do bad, do anything, defy fate, defy destiny, defy anything that tells you that you are nothing, because you'll be somebody even if you have to bite and claw yourself to it.

You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they're usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don't see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.

Think about it. In real life, the person that's bottling up all their emotions is not the one that's brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it's that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you're upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…

…they've never actually told you anything about themselves.

I LOVE characters who are crazy powerful but their biggest fear is like…bugs. They’re holding onto a chair and screaming at the centipede like “I have fought and killed primordial beings bent on apocalypse…but THAT FUCKING BUG…NO.”

Top-Tier Villain Motivations

They will be safe. It doesn't matter who else or what else burns as long as They will be safe.

I will be safe. The hunger and the cold will never touch me again.

Fuck any bitch who's prettier(/cooler/better-liked/better at making dumplings) than me.

Yes, Master

Love me. Love me. Love me. Love me. LOVE ME!

I know the terrible things these so-called "heroes" will do if I don't stop them (<- is absolutely wrong)

I don't want a better future, I want a better past!

No other way to get performance art funded these days

characters who are so inauthentic. characters who only show what they want other people to see of them. characters who simply must have control over every part of themselves. do you even get it

Hate it when a show's "comic relief character" is literally just a nice dude that gets bullied

Especially when it's their family being assholes like why don't you like your kid? Why is everyone okay with it?

It's always in kids shows and there's always some kind of "do you guys actually like me" moment where everyone just looks at eachother like 😂😬 and I don't get why

1. We put that shit in kids shows? And get shocked when kids are mean to eachother?

2. That's such a popular troupe? Like it can be a good storyline but they never treat it like it actually is bullying

3. Whenever they stand up for themselves they either get laughed at for it or they take it back like "okay nevermind we're fine 😊"

Doing away with the lame "character gets fat to indicate that they've become a huge loser" trope and replacing it with a new, cooler "character gets fat to indicate they finally feel fulfilled with life" trope

What if a professional hitman was hired to gather data and kill a famous celebrity, only to go to the club and meet a crazy fangirl paparazzi that can do the job for him, just chooses not to.

And what if the fangirl thinks he's a paparazzi too and offers to give him advice on the job, just to leaving him even more mortified.

In this pitch meeting I will--

I just eat it up when characters are written with symbolism like they’re a horrible self-destructive mess and yes, it’s like their hands leave scorch marks on everything they touch and oh they can only be admired from afar where it’s safe at a distance but you will be dragged into their self destruction and burn along with them if you let them too close.

Love it when writers do that.

i love u characters who are victims who don't show things in a way that's appealing i love u characters whos trauma leaves them with anger issues, with violence issues, with issues with connection and trust and being truthful i love you characters who don't get "better" in a way that's palatable, who don't find growth and meaning in their trauma

I love me some "You are not a threat to me, I'm just toying with you" type of villain that 90% of the time backfires on them, this is why when you want to toy with the hero you first check if you're the big bad or some neutral funny haha morally gray unstoppable force of nature.

Btw here's the TV Tropes page for this trope since you said you wanted more though ironically none of my examples are there, there's also the It Amused Me page which is kind of like a supertrope to this.

I love those characters that are like "I could kill you and easily win this battle if I truly wanted, but I want to give you a fighting chance so I can watch you struggle."

Those characters that know how to end everything and have the power to do so, but they dangle it over the other characters' heads and watch them fight over it.

EVEN BETTER, they know their capabilities, but hide it from everyone else until a moment forces them to reveal the power they have.

Like the other characters never stood a chance against them, and they knew that but watched them try it anyway for the pure joy of it.

I want to see more characters that seem dark and edgy on the outside but actually have the personality of a nerdy golden retriever

Bonus points if they are flirting with a character B and they think that character A is a bad *insert gender* with a soft spot for them when in actuality they are nice with everyone but character B just doesn’t know that yet
