Cripple - Tumblr Posts

My 13 year old sister will go on and on about her depression and how she needs a service dog for it and at the same time she resents me/the attention I get because of my physical disability. Like yea, your mental health is important, but so is my ability to walk???

the saddest, most ableist losers alive post things like “my mental health impacts my physical health so actually I AM crippled by my depression!!!” and then turn around and scream about “ableminded” quadriplegics and paraplegics and cancer patients. cuz they cannot fathom these things impacting those ppls mental health. because they’re deranged and ableist as fuck and don’t care about anyone else

“you are so difficult”

“it’s always something with you”

“you always have an excuse”

“stop being such a downer”

“you’re just looking for sympathy”

“how come you can _____ but not _____?”

“you stress me out too much”

“isn’t this timing a little… convenient?”

“can i see your medical records?”

“i have a friend with _____ and they don’t complain as much as you. you should be more like them”

Ableds will always find ways to blame disabled people when they complain about accessibility.

“You ask too much”.

“Maybe this place isn’t for you”.

“It’s expensive, you can’t expect people to spend that money”.

“Just stay at home then”.

“Accessibility is extra work, you shouldn’t be expecting that”.

“The world can’t bend to your needs”.

“Not everyone gets whatever they want, why you should?”

Feel free to add more.

professionals: they so often don't understand how tiring being tired is, they don't understand pain. they see a broken foot and assume that is the worst pain imaginable. they don't get it. they never have, they pretend to understand with floral words of affirmation and reminders... but… some don't see the late nights spent silently screaming and shaking and begging for it all to stop.

when they don't understand the desire to just stop being in pain; they don't realise a lot of us would rather be decaying than continue with a life we know is doomed to constant pain.

instead, a story is printed using medical jargon, forgetting the humanity stood behind the shroud of professional language.

but yet, there's always one. somewhere out there is a professional who will believe you, who will listen and help you to improve, who will love you and care about you, not just your anomaly...

we must remember that behind the medical jargon, we are people. behind the labels... we will never stop being people. and nothing will take that from us. we are allowed to be angry. we are allowed to feel. we are allowed to grieve the life that could have been without the pain. it's okay to be sad over your symptoms. it's okay to feel.

but, please, never give up.

never forget you're worth it. never forget you're beautiful. never stop fighting to live, even if it is only in the little ways.

I can't wait for the day when we can get our leg amputated. It'll make our life so much easier, in regards to dressing more masculinity or androgynously, in regards to pain levels, and so much more.

For context, our left leg is extremely screwed up (as in permanent damage-wise). Our knee is our biggest issue, constantly in pain, frequently swelling, subluxating and dislocating, giving out and being unsteady, and more—and we don't even have a diagnosis about what's wrong because we can't see all of the damage on MRIs or x-rays! Our ankle is also an issue, with being weak and hypermobile from constantly spraining, straining, and rolling it in elementary school. And last but not least, tendinitis. In not one, but more recently TWO tendons in our lower leg. (There's three tendons in lower legs.)

Our left leg is literally a piece of crap.

Someone take it away, please. I beg you. ToT

Today’s predicament: had to get my Mamie’s (grandma) dog out of a gulley via scooting down the steep ass hill. Need crutches? That’s rough buddy one of them is missing the rubber tip!

Solution: Old soda bottle lid, cut up sponge, duct tape

Hey yall, looking for advice since I might temporarily be in a wheelchair :}

I just spent half an hour having to chase my Mamie’s dog through a gulley, mostly without my crutches since they couldn’t fit through the brush, so understandably I’m sore as hell.

This will be my first time using a wheelchair, so any advice/support is very appreciated
