Lord Liu Kang - Tumblr Posts

hii!! saw your asks were open and wanted to share some liu kang angst :3 (im sorry in advance)
just thinking about the amount of guilt this man has, good god. and everyone still blames him for everything. but nobody (except for geras probably) understands how mamy sacrifices he had to make, and only to see most of them were completely unnecessary in the long run. just imagine how heartbreaking it was to see everything you worked eons on, and spilled so much blood for being ripped apart.
The way this ask broke me-
No, but that's so true. He probably has so much angst, not only about the guilt of Raiden giving his godhood to Liu Kang in MK11, but also having to watch Raiden's now-mortal form wither and die.
And then he spent eons alone. There was geras, sure, but even then, didn't he have to reform geras too?
And Liu Kang had to painstakingly reform each of his friends, craft their destinies with the hopes that it'd turn out better this time.
And while doing that, he found that all Kung Lao needed was someone who wasn't him. And Liu Kang couldn't grow with his friends like he once had- he had to watch from afar and suffer as they lived their lives together, without him.
It didn't matter that he was a present force or not, it was still the knowledge of his timeline and having to remake everything he knew and being able to do nothing for those he loved most other than make sure they existed again.
Care was put into them each- and that had to have been his personal hell, watching them exist without him. Existing without them on his own.
He finally gets to the point billions of years down the line where he can see his friends again (as he had to go through an entire timeline) and right when he thinks it's okay- the same Shang Tsung he won against the first time dupes Mk1 Shang Tsung (who doesn't have any of the experience to be able to wield all that power with any sort of true surety or understand the depths of who he is as a person quite yet, not like mk11 Shang)-
RIGHT when Liu Kang thinks it's all going to be okay, it crumbles beneath his feet. He loses Bi-Han. Then he loses Sindel, later on.
He has to watch as Kenshi still suffers through losing his eyes, even if Liu Kang made that out to happen for a number of reasons, but it's no less agonizing.
And he watches Rains- carefully crafted, wonderful Rain- go rogue. Same with Reiko. Same with Havik.
Same with them all. Each person, ripped down and destroyed again.
His world- his world that he made- soaked in blood and violence and hate and hurt that spills between timelines like a plague that won't leave him.
That won't let the people he loves be at ease for once.
And it's worse, because he has to reconcile not only losing this timeline too, but all the other timelines existing at all.
Each light!titan, especially titan Bi-Han, titan Havik, titan Kung Lao... Titan Kung Lao which was this Liu Kang's Kung Lao- Titan Raiden, Titan Kitana... A titan Shang Tsung, too.
Each dark!titan too. Each one of them, or each one from Shang Tsung's own rebuilt timeline.
Liu Kang suffers seeing the outcomes they all could've had and it has to break him. How could it not?
There's nothing left to this world too but the same bloodshed his own was drowned under.
And all he can think is that it's all his fault because what else can it be but fault shared between him and his Shang Tsung?
He tried and he still failed and even if it isn't, he still thinks it's his fault.

Do you think that Liu Kang made everyone 100 times hotter than in his original timeline, that he banned all ugliness in his creation because he had been through so much that he deserved beauty in his timeline?
Why has nobody talked about the fact that he made sure the tournament would be death-free? Liu Kang literally grabbed what robbed him and his friends of a chance for a better life, and remade it.
Why has nobody talked about it yet?
I love the fact that, even though Liu Kang changed a bit of everyone, either in personality or story or whatever, he DID leave Kung Lao as he was in his timeline. Because, that’s his best friend right there. His best man.
How can he bring himself to change something about Kung Lao? How can he bring himself to change his bestie? Kung Lao may not remember him, but Liu Kang does. He remembers. And leaving his friend as he remembers him, might be Liu Kang’s own way of grieving with the fact that the people he used to know, no longer exist.
Sure, there are other timelines where his friends are still alive. But as the Time Keeper, the God of Fire and the guardian of the Earthrealm, he can’t exactly go and visit them. The ones in his universe are the only ones he gets to see daily.
Yet only Geras and him remember.

This is the first time I’ve ever posted an actual drawing of mine (if I post drawings again, it’ll probably be in paper tho).
Anyways, my man Liu Kang deserves more love. He’s also been rotting my brain, so the parasites in me decided that I should sketch him a bit. (The line art didn’t convinced me, so it’ll just stay as sketch for now)
I firmly believe that, originally, Liu Kang had expected that the champion would be Kenshi. Now, don’t get him wrong. Any champion would be fine by him, he trusts them all and loves them all. And it would’ve made sense that Kenshi would be the one to win, as he was the one with the most experience out of the four champions.
But when Kenshi was defeated, it took him by surprise that this man, Kenshi, who escaped the yakuza. Who was more skilled in fighting terms, that had more experience, had lost.
That put Liu Kang slightly on edge. Because it meant that his champion would be either Johnny, Raiden or Kung Lao. When Johnny lost, his nerves weren’t appealed. But when Kung Lao lost, it felt like he could breath again.
His brain making him remember when his friend had died on his timeline. He trusts Kung Lao, he trusts him as a person and he trusts his strength. But he’s still grateful that it wouldn’t be Kung Lao the one to face Shao Ka—General Shao.
Even if this new tournament, that he himself organized, didn’t required for anyone to die, like in his timeline, Liu Kang—despite all the eons that had passed— still had it fresh in his skull when his friend died. The celebrations that the public had made when Kung Lao’s inert, cold, dead body hit the arena. The way his eyes were wide open, staring at nothing, and how the bone of the neck was slightly peeking out through the skin.
Liu Kang doesn’t think he will ever forget any of it.
Imma start doing incorrect quotes with MK11 and MK1 characters
Everyone: “How are you our creator?”
Liu Kang: Hands over a disc of MK11 and a PS4 “Johnny, you play. Everyone else, observe.”
Incorrect MK1 quotes, p2:
Johnny: says something completely arrogant and out of pocket.
God Liu Kang: I can’t be mad at you.
MK1 Incorrect quotes pt.3:
Kenshi, in the dark during a big storm that cut the Wu Shi Academy’s power, searching for candles: Kung Lao I’m starting to think that this is a really bad idea.
Raiden: Oh I’m not Lao, I’m Raiden. I though you were Lao.
Kenshi: No, I’m Kenshi.
Kung Lao: You’re Kenshi? Where’s Johnny?
Kenshi: Who are you?
Kung Lao: I’m Kung Lao!
Liu Kang, eyes flashing like a pair of white flashlight: Guess who I am, you guys!
Mk1 AU where everything is the same but Liu Kangs eyes work like two mini flashlights
I can totally see Shang Tsung (the MK1 one, not Evil!Titan Tsung) doing this to Liu Kang the moment he finds out about him and Titan Kitana. Not because he’s gay, not because he definitely did not want to kiss the God of Fire, but simply to annoy him.
To leave him questioning every single time that he’s with Titan Kitana if she’s just Shang Tsung in disguise. And slowly seeing Liu Kang loose his mind whenever he starts overthinking every single of Kitana’s actions.
I really like this one actually

Something not quite right
a/n: I’ve decided that, instead of simply putting my thoughts and headcanons and ideas as simple and quick drafts, to just instead start actually writing it all.
summary: Kuai Liang’s (Sub-Zero) last thoughts about Hanzo during the timeline resetting.
warnings: hurt/no comfort (?), canon character death, probably not properly tagged, angst. not necessarily written as couple, could be considered as platonic and viceversa.

It was all happening so fast. The world, disappearing around them. The trees, the sky, everything, all turning into nothing in mere seconds. Had Kronika won? For the Elder Gods, he begged not.
Maybe Liu Kang had won? Maybe he was now restarting everything with the Hourglass. Restart everything. All back to zero. Would he remember his life? Would he remember his family? His parents, his brothers, his friends and the people important for him. Would Kuai Liang be able to remember any of them? Probably not. But if he didn’t remember anything or anyone, what about…
Hanzo.
It felt weird. Knowing he would probably not remember him. That didn’t seemed all that fair, did it? After all their years of rivalry, of hatred. It took them more than 10 years to finally feel comfortable by each other’s side, to be able for Hanzo to let go of his rage. To manage it in a healthier way. And now, all of that effort would end up in the trash. Like garbage. It suddenly all felt useless. All that effort spent in helping each other and themselves, it would now all be thrown away.
And it made him feel indignation. On Hanzo’s behalf. On Bi-Han’s behalf.
This just wasn’t fair. Why couldn’t they all just have normal, peaceful lives? When had it all went to shit? Kuai Liang felt like a petulant child throwing a tantrum because he didn’t got the toy he wanted. But it still didn’t felt fair. Why couldn’t they just have peaceful, calm lives?
Bi-Han didn’t deserve to get blamed and murdered for crimes he didn’t commit. Hanzo didn’t deserve to have his family murdered, get tricked by that sorcerer and have his rage be misguided for years. Didn’t they deserve a happy ending too? When did things get so complicated?
‘I wonder what you would think, Hanzo. Would you be angry too, if you were still here?’
Maybe, in this new timeline, things will be better. Maybe Bi-Han won’t suffer for something he didn’t do. Maybe Smoke won’t die this time. Maybe Hanzo…
Or maybe they wouldn’t even know each other this time. Or maybe this whole train of thoughts was useless after all.
I feel so sorry (not really) for Sektor. She’s trapped between the situationship of her boyfriend and their literal creator.
I swear Bi-Han has said Liu’s name more times than he’s ever mentioned Sektor and I’m here for it.
I’ve been thinking about that one “The last Unicorn” audio, the one that says “You hear me? You lost her! You trapped her in a human body, she’ll go mad!” “What have you done to me? I’m a unicorn. I’m a unicorn! I wish you had let the Red Vault take me. I wish you had left me to the harpies! I can feel this body dying all around me!”
Now imagine that but with Liu Kang. We know from his ending that [SPOILERS] taking back his power and title of Keeper of Time took a toll on his body. Nearly killing him and taking his immortality. And we know that Liu Kang had been a god for a good billions of centuries now. Even if was once a human, it’s not weird to think that after so long of being a Titan, he would’ve forgotten how aging felt. What it felt like to being able to die. Do you guys think he experienced something similar to body dysmorphia when he became mortal again? And that the same happened when he became a god the first time?
Mk1 Incorrect Quotes pt. 7:
Liu Kang, freshly after defeating Kronika: “God is no longer with us, I’ll take over.”
Mk1 Incorrect Quotes pt. 8:
Liu Kang as a (human) child: “I can’t wait to grow up and have cool adventures!”
Liu Kang now: “I can’t wait to go to sleep.”
Mk1 Incorrect Quotes pt. 9:
God Liu Kang: “You’re not ascending to godhood, you’re just dehydrated!”
Shang Tsung: “Outta my way, gayboy! I’m about to liberate my divine self from this mortal shell!”
Shang Tsung, later, laying on the ground on Yamcha position: “hopital”

Don’t mind me, just counting down to Thursday by quietly willing Nightwolf into the new era as a magical hacker/dimension hopper/thorn in Lord Liu Kang’s side.
Seriously though, I’d love to combine his tech-head skills from the old cartoon with his skill and knowledge of mysticism; I just feel like there’s so much potential there!
