Tommy is dead. The server reacts.

(word count: 1,732)

—————

“What have you done?”

His voice is a reedy whisper, thin with horror and the realization that he is too little, too late. He doesn’t expect the sound to carry over the lava, but a response comes soon enough.

“He wouldn’t stop talking. And he killed the cat.”

Dream’s voice is even, calm, almost a bit defensive, as if he truly believes that he is justified in his actions. Sam swallows down his mounting nausea, places his trident against the floor to steady himself. The lava crackles, hisses, bubbles, orange and glowing, and he can’t cross it. Not now. Not when the security threat remains unresolved. Not when any wrong move on his part could very well mean Dream’s escape.

But he’s already made the wrong move, hasn’t he? Made the wrong move, and Tommy has paid for it. Has been paying for it, this whole last week. He kept him in there, kept him locked in a box with Dream even though he knows very well how it would effect him, kept him locked in with the reasoning that it was temporary, that he would let him out as soon as he could, that he couldn’t risk Dream’s release for anyone, even for Tommy.

But it’s not temporary.

Tommy was sixteen and loud-mouthed and bright-eyed when Sam last saw him, when he said that this would be the last time, that he was going to put his past behind him and look to a new start. Tommy will always be sixteen and loud-mouthed and bright-eyed, and locked in a box. There will be no new start. No seventeenth birthday. No triumphant return, no shining hotel. No tricks, no scams, no pranks.

Techno getting annoyed with Tommy's rambunctiousness and big talk, so he decides to take him up on his fighting words and start an impromptu sparring session in order to tire Tommy out.

Pros: Success! Tommy is quiet now! Techno can go back to reading.

Cons: Tommy falls asleep in his lap and he can't move.

Pros: Tommy makes for a good arm rest. Perfect height to rest his book, actually.

Cons: Tommy has started snoring and since Techno is cozy, pig instincts have mistaken it for purring and elected to join in.

Cons: The Syndicate has showed up and they are teasing him. BAD. VERY BAD. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA.

Pros: Since they aren't trapped under a sleeping Tommy (impossible to move, trapped forever and ever), he can force his friends to get him stuff. Philza brings tea and Niki grabs some pastries she was making.

Pros: Magnolia tea helps people fall asleep, and now there is a cuddly nap pile.

Cons: Techno doesn't finish his book.

Pros: zzzzzzz

More DSMP fans need to be obsessed with C!Niki because while her story wasn't handled perfectly, her character and story explores some really interesting themes.

The first thing she did after joining the server was declare loyalty to Wilbur and L'manburg. The second thing she did was befriend Eret when everyone told her not to trust them. She was the last one take off her L'manburg uniform, long after the founders had stopped wearing theirs.

She was the loudest voice of rebellion against Schlatt, the most violent protester against his reign. She was treated as nothing more than a minor annoyance for this rebellion.

She saw the tnt Wilbur had placed beneath L'manburg, she saw it and kept it quiet because she trusted and believed that Wilbur wouldn't use it without good reason. After he pressed that button, after he died, she went and found one of his old coats and wore it, despite the pain of betrayal.

Wilbur, Dream, Techno and Phil all tried to destroy L'manburg, but failed. They failed to stop people from fighting for L'manburg. Niki didn't. Niki, L'manburg's most loyal and devoted, killed L'mabburg when she burnt down the L'mantree. L'manburg didn't die until Niki declared it dead.

Ghostbur only showed up once for Niki, despite her being one of the few people he remembered, even after all that time.

"We've been overlooked for far too long."

She's been hurt, and her pain is silenced. When she was suffering for her defiance against Schlatt and Manberg, Pogtopia told her to wait, that they had no room for her. When Wilbur died, no one thought to comfort her for her grief, despite that he was the one she was loyal to, that she joined L'manburg for. No matter how loud she screamed and cried, no one heard her, no one cared.

It's about fire and rage and pain and healing. Her pain and suffering went ignored, and she needed at an outlet, a scapegoat. And she tried to do that, tried to hurt others the way she had been hurt, in a blind attempt to fix things in a messed up way.

Then she heals. She heals with those who she joined because of that anger and pain and wrath. She heals and finds peace and makes amends.

Niki's story isn't perfect, but it's so wonderfully complicated and full of beautiful contradictions. Loyalty and Defiance. Hope and Despair. Forgiveness and Revenge. Blind Faith and Paranoia.

I just think this fandom really sleeps on her a lot.

OK so I've sat down and though about this au more and I'm in love so I'm expanding upon it. Might expand more in the future when I have more things figured out. Anyway

Meet the Ghosts!

Wilbur Soot:

-Regency Era Poet

-Briefly lived on the graveyard grounds back in the 19th century.

-Very dramatic, will often break out into theatrical monologues and, when insulted, will demand satisfaction for his honour.

-Married to Sally, had one child named Fundy who he loved so dearly. Would often say that out of everything he's written, Fundy was his greatest masterpiece. And it destroys him every day that he never got to see him grow up.

-Wilbur has an attachment to Tommy, as he sees alot of his son in him. He swears to always watch over Tommy as he grows because he couldn't be there for his own son.

-Died of poisoning.

Tubbo:

-Victorian Era chimney sweep.

-Was working in the house when he died.

-Very mischievous, will often hide things around the house to fuck with the resident. Coughs quite alot bc of all the soot in his lungs

-You can always tell when he's around bc he smells of ash

-He's closest in age to Tommy (fifteen) and the two of them like to explore the house together and unintentionally thrawrt Dream's plans to murder him

-Died by being pushed down a chimney

Techno:

-15th century Knight

-Stoic with a soft spot - especially for Tommy and Phil, even though he's dead he will still patrol the ground for danger

-He is quiet, but do not mistake that for weakness, Technoblade could break every bone in your body while naming them

-When he was alive, Techno took an oath to protect the owner of the house, which is now Tommy, so he is very protective of him (he's also teaching him how to sword fight)

-Can often be found in library, reading

-Died protecting the nobleman he was assigned from an assassination attempt

Eret:

-Elizabethan Era Nobelman, descendent of Royal blood

-Owner of the house in the late 16th century

-He is kind and gentle, very nurturing to the younger beings in the house (Tommy, Tubbo, Niki)

-Eret will sometimes wander the halls with Tommy, admiring the paintings and telling him stories behind them and about the house.

-She is the one the ghosts will go to when they need someone on his side as he is the main authority figure (yes, he beats out Techno)

-Died from multiple stabs wounds to the chest

Phil:

-80's Groundskeeper

-Lived on the house grounds for the majority of his life as his father was the groundskeeper before him.

-He was married to Kristen and the two of them lived in the staff cottage together.

-Phil has a very fatherly nature to him, the main parental figure to all of the ghosts haunting the house and the only one with a fucking brain cell.

-He acts as one of Tommy's parental figures (along with Sam, Tommy's actual distant relative) and helps him with the matinence of the house

-Spends most of his time in the garden

-Died from drowning

Niki:

-1500's Baker

-Worked in the kitchen

-Excellent cook, like literally the best (although, non of the ghosts or Tommy have ever eaten her food bc she's dead...just take her word for it)

-Can be found in the kitchen at most times, and is the main reason Tommy knows how to cook

-She is very sensitive to fire bc of her death and that made for some funtimes when Tommy first tried to make himself dinner (he set his food on fire)

-Niki, while usually calm and sweet, is fucking terrifying when she is angry. Like, seriously scary, she turns from casper the friendly ghost to fucking poltergeist in a matter of seconds.

-You can tell she's around bc she smells of smoke and burnt toast

-Died from a kitchen fire

Puffy:

-Pirate Captian from the 1600's

-She took over the estate when her crew docked at the shore

-She is strong, a natural born leader, courageous and very competitive. Tommy really looks up to her

-She had a son, Foolish, but she doesn't know what became of him after she died

-Tommy begs her for stories about her time at sea, and Puffy - who is very proud of all of her adventures - is happy to tell him all about them.

-Much like Techno, she is fiercely protective of the children living in the house

-While she doesn't have a set place she usually goes to, Puffy will often hand out with Niki in the kitchen or help Techno teach Tommy how to sword fight.

-Died from being shot

Sam:

-Last owner of the house before Tommy and the most recent ghost

-He's his step fourth cousin three times removed in law or something, neither of them know the details

-He was rich, like fifthly fucking rich. But he didn't have any family (or so he thought) so he was quite lonely in his life

-But now that he has the other ghosts and Tommy, he couldn't be happier

-When he learns that Tommy is an orphan, he takes it upon himself to practically be the boys father figure (along with Phil bc Tommy be collecting father figures like pokemon cards)

-Sam is smart, especially in the topic of engineering and design, and he often helps Tommy with his homework and social life.

-Usually plays chess in the drawing room by himself. He tried teaching the others how to play but Wilbur would dramatically narrate the game, Tubbo would cheat, Puffy would flip the board right before he lost, Phil prefers to play cards, Techno just can't get the hang of it and Tommy thought it was boring. He doesn't play with Eret because they always beat him

-Died from suffocation

(might add more later)

The Ghosts cannot leave the grounds. They're bound to stay insides the gates.

None of the ghosts can specifically remember the circumstances of their death. They know the cause of course, but when they really think about their head becomes fuzzy and the go what they deemed blank for a few moments - 'blank' just means they go nonverbal and nonreactive for a few minutes.

They can't move on to the next life until they figure out their death, so they ask Tommy to investigate for them.

They only have eachother to talk to, since no one alive can see or hear them. So when Tommy arrives and acknowledges them, they are ecstatic. So esctatic, that they rarely leave him alone for the first few weeks when he moves in.

Because the house is so massive, each of the ghosts have their own dedicated bedroom...for some reason. It's not like they can sleep.

Every Wednesday, the ghosts will do show and tell: where they each present something of their choice. Every week, Wilbur recites one of his poems, Tubbo shows off something he stole during the week and Puffy tells one of her stories. It's anyone's guess what the rest of them will do.

Ever since Tommy inherited the house, he has initiated Movie Night. They'll all gather in the grand living room and watch a movie of Tommy's choice - this has resulted in some funny moments, for example, when he showed them Gnomeo and Juliette and Wilbur didn't stop talking about it for a week. He showed them Up and they all cried.

Meet the Living!

Tommy:

-Orpahan and current owner of the house

-lived in an orphanage for the first fourteen years of his life, so the transition to dirt poor orphan to one of the richest people in the country was quite the change.

-At first, Tommy doesn't know what to make of the house. Lots of strange things happen to him there; like chandeliers almost falling on top of him, food that smell like out of date bleach, almost trapped in the cellar but finding a secret passageway right to the master bedroom.

-But the weirdest thing, by far are the goddamn ghosts that won't leave him alone

-He's not really complaining though, despite it being a bit of a nuisance it's nice to have all this company

-It takes some time getting used to, but after that he grows very fond of the ghosts, especially Tubbo who he has deemed his new best friend. The two of them like to explore the house together, and it's here that they find the secret passageways around the house that not even Sam knew existed

-When the ghosts ask Tommy to investigate their deaths, he is skeptical at first. He doesn't quite know what 'moving on' is but he has a fair idea it means they'll vanish for good, and he doesn't want that. Not when he's just found a family (no matter how odd it is)

-But, it will make them happy and thats all Tommy wants them to be. So he does it (later on, he'll get Ranboo to help him)

-Tommy likes to wander around the graveyard surrounding the grounds with the ghosts and looking at all the headstones and judging their names. Although, he tries to avoid the ghosts graves; its a touchy subject

-Ever since Tommy inherited Sam's riches and house, he had to move school, which he was not happy about. In this new school, he meets Ranboo - who, for a reason unknown to Tommy, is determined to befriend him.

-Tommy thinks Ranboo is weird - he wears sunglasses at all times of the day, inside and out, which is just wrong - and activly avoids him at first but then, one he actually gives the guy a chance, he growns to like him and they become fast friends.

-Tommy will never bring him over to his house though, because of two main reasons: 1, the ghosts that have basically adopted him as one of their own and 2, the creepy fucking butler.

Dream:

-Aforementioned creepy fucking butler.

-Has worked for Sam's family for years. Has quite literally watched all of them die

-The only staff in the house (there used to be more, but they were all let off for an unknown reason)

-Can often be found lurking in the shadows, pacing around the graveyard

-Tommy is so fucking scarred of him, as are most of the ghosts

-He was unaware that Sam had any other family

-He was also the last person in the house the night that Sam died.

-Dream does everything in the house; he cooks, he cleans, he gardens, he drives Tommy to and from school. Or, well, he's supposed to; Tommy doesn't think he does though, because the food always looks off, there are cobwebs and dust everywhere, he drives like he wants to get in a car crash and the garden is overgrown and out of control (it makes Phil cringe)

-He doesn't know about the ghosts, and he doesn't like Tommy's little friend Ranboo.

-He is just a creepy bastard in general, and Tommy tries his best to avoid him

Ranboo:

-Tommy's classmate, psychic medium

-He's never had many friends and mostly chooses to spend his days alone on the Internet

-Ranboo has always been different. He sees things that haven't happened yet, he knows things that others don't. He has heightened sensitivey that makes him feel emotions from people, objects and places just by looking at them. This trait runs in his family.

-It gets overwhelming, so to deal with it Ranboo wears special sunglasses that allow him to see things without feeling their emotions

-But, from the moment he sees Tommy when he's introduced to the class, not even the glasses can dim the danger and foreboding clouding him

-So, curious, Ranboo tries to befriend him.

-And fails repeatedly. Because Tommy is just as closed off as his emotions scream.

-It takes so much trust building - and Ranboo persistently inviting Tommy over for dinner, or to hang out after school - but eventually Tommy let's him in and the two become the best of friends

-Ranboo learns the reason for the sadness clouding Tommy when he tells him about his parents and his childhood in the orphanage.

-Tommy also enlists Ranboo to help him with these 'investigations' into some deaths that have happened on the grounds of his house. Ranboo doesn't know why Tommy is so keen of figuring these seemingly random deaths out, but he is happy to help anyway

-As for the danger that surrounds Tommy? He finds that out when he meets Dream.

-He sees Dream when he comes to pick up Tommy from his house one day. Ranboo watched from his bedroom window as Tommy walked to the car and he caught sight of Dream in the driver's seat. And the amount of fear, and anger, and all out danger that stems from him overwhelmed Ranboo to the point where he hyperventilates

-That's the point where he realises the exact amount of danger Tommy is in.

-And he takes it upon himself to protect his only friend.

Alright, I just might have to write this one (even though I have so many other wips I need to work on). Idk what it is but this just feeds the worms in my brain. Ill expand on this in the future, might add more ghosts and I'm currently making fanart for this au as I'm writing this :))

au where Tommy is an orphan, right. He never knew his family and has lived in a shitty orphanage his whole life. Then one day, he inherits a shit ton of money and land from a distant relative he never knew existed.

Which is great, right? Lots of money, a big ass house, no more shitty orphanages. Sounds fantastic!

One thing though, the aforementioned bigass house? Yeah, it's smack bang in the middle of a bigger ass graveyard - Which Tommy also owns now.

Oh, and it's infested with ghosts (the rest of the SMP) that only Tommy seems to see.

And like, all the ghosts are from different eras in time. Like Wilbur is a poet from the 1800's, Phil is a grounds keeper from the 80's, Niki is a baker from the 17th century, Puffy is a pirate captian that died while docking at the house, Tubbo is a victorian chimney sweep and Techno is a Knight ect.

But here's the thing: all the ghosts died under mysterious circumstances and they can't move on to the next life until they figure out how they died. So not only does Tommy havd to deal with going to a new school - and this kid named Ranboo that is perisitent on befriending him (Tommy is quite against this, because yknow, he's got a little ghost problem) - a creepy butler named Dream that acts like a character out of a stereotypical murder mystery movie; he also has to solve multiple centery old mysteries to help his new friends find peace.

origins smp but its atla and long ago the different mobs lived in harmony then everything changed when the blazeborns attacked. Only the avians, the above average boys, could stop them but when the world needed them most, the fucking blazes killed them or smth idk. Like twelve years later, Wilbur and Niki discover a little gremlins named Tommy, who just so happens to be the last ever avian. Ft. Tommy as aang, Wilbur and Niki as Sokka and Katara, Tubbo as Toph, Jack Manifold as our favourite king of redemption arcs, Zuko and others as others I dunno I'm tired

Oh and Sally is also here just so she can be Yue and instead of being turned into the moon she turned into a salmon.

Yeah.

Part 999999 of phroggy procrastinating writing their fic by coming up with ideas for new ones

SBI Beauty and the Beast au but it's found family and Tommy is the beast.

Once upon a time, the town was ruled over by the king and Queen; they were selfish, stuck up and self centered. So self centered that they barely paid any attention to their only son except to shout at him and twist their views into him so that he turned out exactly the same as his parents.

They held the most lavish parties and invited royalty and rich from all around the globe to attend in a means to show off their vast wealth and luxuries. It was during one of these parties, on a cold harsh winter night in the middle of a storm, when an old hag knocked on the king and Queens door asking for shelter in exchange for a single rose. And because they were so selfish, they laughed at her and cast her out into the storm.

But this was no hag, instead turning out to be an enchantress. At this act of cruelty, the enchantress decided that the King and Queen needed to be taught a lesson and threatened to place a curse on them, to be alone forever until they learned to be kind

The king and Queen pleaded and begged for mercy, going so far to as to offer up their son to take the curse instead of them. But the enchantress only saw this as more reason to punish them. She cast a spell on the castle, turning the staff into furniture, the King and Queen, and the rest of the party goers into garden statues. When she came across the young prince, she could sense his parents values growing inside him and so to prevent them from growing any further, turned him into a beast how he will stay for ten years until he can unlearn his parents ways. She vanished, leaving the young Prince with only the denied rose to remember the curse.

And Tommy was alone.

Ten years later, in the town at the edge of the woods, two twin brothers live with their father. Techno is the strongest man in town, a fantastic fighter, envied by many. Wilbur is the most sought after man in town, men, woman even fish want him/to be him. their father, Philza is the town builder - though the village think he is quite mad, as he goes around claiming his wife was a very powerful witch.

They seemingly have the perfect life, but they are tired of it. Techno is tired of being constantly challenged to duels (especially by his biggest rival, Dream, who is insanely jealous of him) and Wilbur is tired of being chased down by suitors. They want out.

One day Phil tells goes on a trip to the next kingdom over and will be gone for a few days. However, that night while travelling, he gets caught in a terrible storm. His horse gets scared by wolves and bucks him off, leaving him lost in the woods where he stumbles across a seemingly abandoned castle where he plans to takes refuge until the storm blows over.

The castle is strange, Phil soon finds. There is an entire section of the garden dedicated to moss and vine covered humanoid statues, the furniture moves, but Phil stays the night nonetheless. Then, in the morning he decides to venture around. Explore the castle. This choice wasnt the right idea.

He goes to the west wing, where he finds a glowing rose encapsuled behind glass. Curious, he tries to touch it only to be caught by a monster he can't quite get a good look at and thrown in the dungeon.

Meanwhile, back at the village, Wilbur has just finished escaping from another proposal and Techno has bested Dream for the third time today when their fathers horse comes running into the town, distressed. Concerned for Phil, the twins decide to go into the woods to search for him and they too discover the castle and search inside. This is where they find Phil locked in a cell.

Phil tells them to run, to leave him behind before "it finds you too" but ever the stubborn ones, Wilbur and Techno brainstorm for ways to break open the cell.

And sure enough, when a roar echos through the dungeon and the colour drains from Phil's face. Techno prepares himself to fight but this monster hides in the shadows, making difficult to see.

Wilbur begs for his father's release but to no avail. The monster claims that Phil was stealing, that he must pay the price, that visitors aren't welcome here. The twins are only sightly confused with the fact that this monster sounds less like a viscous beast and more like a...child?

Finally, Techno offers that he stay in exchange for the rest of his family's freedom. Wilbur, obviously, protests this, refusing to leave Techno behind and instead offering that he stay and the monster let Techno and Phil go.

There's alot of back and forth arguing then. Both twins offering their own place to take over their fathers. The monster grows tired of this and decides that the both of them will have to stay in return it'll let Phil go. Against their fathers protests, the twins accept this and Phil leaves with a promise that he will return to save them with backup.

Now that Phil is gone, the monster finally steps into the light. Revealing itself to be...not that frightening. Its got horns and sharp teeth sure, buts it's barely taller than Wilbur and covered in blonde fur. The beast locks them in the call and moves on. Immediately, Techno and Wilbur start planning an escape route

What the two don't know is that over looking their cell is a clock and a candlestick. The clock, BadBoyHalo is scolding the candlestick, Quackity for eavesdropping. Quackity however is scheming. You see, the two are part of the many staff who got caught in the enchantress' spell and has been trapped as a candlestick for the last ten years. Time is running out for them. The magic rose, a constant hour glass, is down to its last few petals and until the young Prince Tommy - now the beast - can break the spell they will be furniture forever.

Quackity believes that the way to break the curse has just waltzed in with the rain. Bad thinks he's an idiot and tells him to leave the dungeon before he causes anymore problems. Quackity doesn't listen, and instead goes to speak to the prisoners.

Techno and Wilbur are only mildly stunned and scared at the talking candlestick, they only think they're going crazy when the clock starts speaking too.

Quackity makes them a promise that he can convince the beast to let them out of the cell and sure enough, after explaining his views to Tommy (which took a long time; throughout the years, Tommy has grown bitter, angry, he's never had anyone to teach him how to be anything else, being only six when his parents were turned to stone) the twins are being taken to a lavish bedroom in the east wing.

They are given the strick order to stay in their room, and to never, ever go in the east wing.

They continue to plan their escape. This is where they're introduced to Puffy, the wardrobe, who explains she was once the royal tailor and mentions the curse they are placed under but doesn't go into heavy detail. When Techno questions about it, she claims she said too much already, and it's not my story to tell.

In the west wing, where Tommy resides, Quackity tells Tommy to invite Techno and Wilbur to dinner. Tommy refuses. He would never do that, they are his prisoners, they are the sons of the theif who broke into his home - and who knows what he could've done! What if that old man messed with the rose?! He's got so little time already, anything could take that away!

So naturally, Tommy invites them to eat.

And naturally, they refuse.

Tommy demands that they eat with him.

They refuse. Though, Wilbur is tempted at the promise of food.

Outraged, Tommy orders that they will not eat a crumb unless they eat with him.

They're fine with that.

Tommy has a tantrum in his room.

Night falls, Techno and Wilbur are no closer to getting out of here, and they're starving.

Quackity, against Bad's wishes, invites them to dinner while Tommy is asleep. They agree. Cue a banging 'Be Our Guest' scene with Quackity, ever the showman, as the lead. Featuring Niki the teapot, Ranboo and Tubbo the cups and Karl the feather duster. The twins have a fantastic time. The food is great too, props to Niki.

After dinner, Quackity convinces Bad to give the twins a tour of the castle (playing on the fact that the clock absolutely loves to talk about the history of the castle, as he is the staff member that worked here the longest). Its here that Techno finally asks about the curse Puffy mentioned, and Quackity is all too happy to explain.

"The Queen and King were wicked," he says, "Selfish. Never thought of anyone but themselves, especially not their staff nor their son. I don't feel bad of what's become of them, forced to stand out in the cold, but I don't quite like being a candle stick. And Tommy, well..."

"Tommy was just caught in the mess his parents made," Bad fills in. "The witch said that he needed to cast out his parents ways but I raised Tommy - god knows the king and Queen didn't spare even a glance in his direction - he's a good kid- was a good kid. These days, with the curse, with his...unfortunate appearance, he's grown more and more like his mother and father. It hurts to watch."

Wilbur and Techno almost feel sorry for their captor. Almost.

Quackity goes on, agreeing. "Yes, he was good. Funny. Loud. Just wanted attention really, someone to play with. He would always beg me to give him a brother and I didn't have the heart to tell him how a brother was made."

"He was only six," Bad mourns.

"He was only six..." Quackity echos, sullen. This is the dullest the twins have ever seen the candle stick. He quickly brought himself up though, lightening the atmosphere. "Do you know how difficult it is to take care of a six year old beast? To teach him? I don't think he knows how to read!"

At the end of the tour, Bad takes them to the main stair case to lead them back to their room but Wilbur, curious, asks about the west wing. Bad reinforces, they don't go in the west wing. Even Quackity becomes more serious, insisting that they must stay away from that part of the castle.

So Techno and Wilbur go to explore the west wing.

It's nothing special, in fact, it's a little bare. Dusty. Messy. An absolute state. Paintings line the walls, some portraits showing a mother, a father and their son. None of them smile in the portrait.

Then they come across a grand bedroom, which is impossibly messier than the rest of the wing; with bedsheets thrown carelessly on the floor, curtains torn and tattered, toys that look a decade old spewn about at random, a painting of a boy propped up against the unmade bed, ripped up. And in the center of it all, a glowing rose encased in glass.

The rose is rather withered now, Techno and Wilbur can only assume that this is the rose from the story, it's only got a few petals left.

Desite his better judgements, Techno let's curiosity get the better of him and he lifts the glass casing off the rose. Wilbur goes to touch it but before he can he is attacked by the beast.

Tommy yells, roars, at them, frantic and scary. "Do you know what you could've done?!" And for the first time, Techno and Wilbur are frightened of him.

Tommy tells them to get the fuck out. Leave. And they waste no time running out of the east wing, down the stairs and out the door, into the woods. Quackity and Bad watch them go, they tried to chase them but two six foot tall humans are quicker than a clock and a candlestick.

The woods are dark. They're lost, definitely. They have no idea where they are or how to get home. A wolf howls in the distant and before either of them notice, a pack surrounds them with intent to attack.

Techno is a valiant fighter, but he's never fought a wolf before. He never thought he'd need to. And Wilbur's about as useless in a fight as a door mouse. In conclusion, they're fucked.

Or, that's what they thought. What they didn't expect is for Tommy to burst out of the trees to save them and take on five or six wolves alone, looking like a wild animal himself but not without earning himself a few - read: many - wounds himself. After the wolves are gone, Tommy nearly passes out and Techno and Wilbur carry him back to the castle.

They then try to nurse his cuts, surrounded by the concerned furniture staff, but Tommy complains and whines the whole way through. Techno catches him sniffling and Wilbur is nearly sure he sees his eyes water before he brings a paw to rub at them as Tubbo and Ranboo try cheer him up. In that moment, they see Tommy for what he really is. Not an evil beast but a scared, lonely child.

Things get a bit better after that. Tommy becomes a bit nicer, inviting Wilbur and Techno out of their room to show them around (the twins don't have the heart to tell him that they were already given the tour) and Wilbur and Techno eat with him at dinner time - Tommy eats like a dog but that's not what Wilbur or Techno take note of. They take note of the way that Tommy's designated chair is at the bottom of the long table and their own (which they were informed earlier belonged to the king and Queen) are together all the way at the top.

One day Tommy, remembering that Wilbur likes to sing and Techno likes to read, takes the brothers to the library and the music room. He tells them that it's theirs for as long and they want it; he's never really used either of them, considering that he can't play any instrument and he can't read at all.

Techno is in amazement. The Royal library is filled with old books on mythology and War techniques that he's been dying to read for god knows how long. And Wilbur almost cried, it's been almost two weeks since he played his guitar and there's instruments in this room he's never even heard of (one that looks like a combination of a trumpet and a violin catches his attention).

Then they process that Tommy can't read. And really, that won't do at all.

Techno teaches him to read through old fairytale books he finds, Wilbur teaches him piano. This is the peak of the bonding, where Wilbur and Techno start to recognise Tommy as a potential little brother figure and Tommy finally gets a glimpse of the family he never had.

Together, the three play hide and seek around the house (to which Tommy always looses, because it's not easy to hide a hairy beast); they have snowball fights; Techno reads to the other two and Wilbur preforms his music; they talk, about life - the twins tell Tommy about their home village, Tommy tells them about life in the castle before the curse. All is well

Cut back to the town at the edge of the woods. Phil has made it back in one piece and immediately goes to the second greatest fighter in town, Dream, for help. He rushes into the bar ranting and warning about a beast in a castle who has captured his sons. The village think he's mad, and through him in the asylum.

Back at the castle, Techno and Wilbur begin to miss their father. Tommy offers them a magic mirror that allows them to see anyone, anywhere in the world. When they use it, they see Dream locking up Phil and decide they must return home immediately.

Tommy, knowing that his time is running short and if Quackity's plan is going to work it needs to work now lest he be a beast forever, let's them go. The brothers waste no time.

With a heavy heart, Tommy watches as the closest thing he's had to a family run away. The staff prepare to turn into furniture, Tommy attempts to get used to his eternity alone.

Techno and Wilbur make to the village just in time to save Phil. They claim that there is a beast, which the town call bullshit until Wilbur uses the magic mirror to show them.

Dream, sensing his opportunity to become the best fighter in town, gather a mob to lead through the woods and kill the beast once and for all. When Techno and Wilbur protest, try to claim that the beast is harmless, they are locked up with Phil.

Phil is baffled how his sons could defend the monster that held them hostage but his sons explain everything; the curse, the staff, Tommy. They break out of the cart they're locked in and steal horses to rush back to the castle.

Dream's mob has reached the castle, wielding pitchforks, torches, swords, the lot. The staff of castle prepare for battle. Cue that scene in Beauty and the Beast when the angry mob break into the castle and get their ass whooped by furniture. Love that part.

Dream escapes the chaos just as Techno and Wilbur arrive at the castle. They see Quackity absolutely beat a villager within an inch of his life and become slightly scared of him. Then they make their way towards the west wing.

Tommy is still depressed by Techno and Wilbur's departure. He watches, devastated, as the second last petal falls off the rose.

Dream bursts into his room, armed with a sword, ready to attack. Cue that scene on the roof where at some point Techno and Wilbur arrive to Tommy and Dream fighting on the roof in the rain. They arm themselves with planks of woods and join the fight against Dream.

Eventually, they have Dream down. The brothers rush to each other, Tommy is absolutely baffled at the fact they returned. No one has ever come back for him. They hug, they cry, they hug some more.

They don't see Dream get back up, sword at the ready, and stab Tommy in the back.

Tommy falls. In anger, Wilbur pushes Dream off the balcony, Techno stays by Tommy's side.

Blood rushes out of the wound, too deep to save. The light fades from Tommy's eyes fast. Techno and Wilbur are too caught up in saving their little brother that they don't notice the last petal fall off the rose.

Downstairs, the staff commend themselves for a battle well won. Suddenly, something feels off. Puffy tried to move towards the rest of them, when she turns rigid. Then Niki, Tubbo, Ranboo.

Quackity sighs, turning to Bad. "We were too late," he says.

Bad shrugs the best a clock can. "Perhaps. It's been an honor serving with you, old friend."

Quackity turns into a candlestick. Bad turns into a clock.

Techno sobs at Tommy's side, Wilbur clings to him in disbelief, still claiming that it's going to he fine, 'you're fine, Toms, everythings gonna be fine'. They watch together as Tommy's chest rises and falls unsteadily.

Tommy says he loves them. His breathing stops, his eyes glaze over.

Wilbur let's out the most heart wrenching sob, Techno burries his face in his twin's shoulder.

Their brother is dead. He wasn't even their brother for very long.

Together, they stay at Tommy's side. They stay there until Phil comes up to find them, even he sheads a tear or five at the sight. Phil does the best to comfort them, urging them to let go of the body and eventually, they have to leave.

As they're leaving, the petals of the rose rise and glow faintly. Tommy's dead body begins to float and change.

When Wilbur looks back to see Tommy one last time, he doesn't see the beast he has grown so accustomed to seeing- no. He sees the little boy shown in all the painting in the west wing, a little older sure, but still the same.

He sees Tommy. He sees Tommy alive.

Downstairs again, the wardrobe transforms into the royal tailor, the teapot turns into the chef and the cups become the kitchen boys. The candlestick and the clock turn back into the royal advisors.

Outside, the party guest from all those years ago are released from their stone prison. But not the king and Queen, they will never be forgiven for their cruelty.

The staff rejoice, but without missing a beat they run to the west wing where they find the young prince they served all those years ago wrapped in the arms of Wilbur, Techno and Phil. They see that he is happy, they see that the castle finally has a loving family to live in it.

And they all lived happily ever after.

So...I've written this

au where Tommy is an orphan, right.

I Know The End - Ch2: Grim Grinning Ghosts

There's a faint smell of burning in the room and when Tommy wakes it is slow and calm and the complete opposite of him all together. There's a split moment of confusion when he opens his eyes and finds himself in a bed far bigger than his own, wrapped in blankets far softer than any he's ever felt. Quickly though, it all comes back to him.

Sam Warden; The Inheritance; The house; The money; Richest kid in the country; Quackity; The butler; The Ghosts; Blah Blah Bla-

Ghosts.

Or: Tommy find out he's not the only tenant in the house. He's not sure how to feel about it.

read it on ao3 :))

Yeah of course Techno has PTSD (Potatoes Taste So Delicious)

This sounds like a joke he would make when Niki is trying to get him to go to therapy
