I'm only 2½ books into the initial Red Rising trilogy, but if Sevro and Darrow don't kiss at LEAST once, I'm gonna beat up Pierce Brown for more than just his political views
I return, my friends. With a new fandom eating me up from the inside.
(I started coming up with fairly elaborate design aesthetic headcanons during the first book that I was pretty sure weren’t on track... until I got to the later books and decided, nope, this is a civilization that uses marble and wood on the interior of their space ships, I cannot feel even remotely bad for pushing the baroque elements)
The Red Rising trilogy is pretty good, you guys. 10/10 would huddle under my comforter with a completely justified fear that all my faves will die before it’s over again.
Practicing environments with some of the settings from the Red Rising trilogy - Lykos township, and a concept for part of the bridge of the Morning Star. Trying to come up with various outfits and armors for Darrow is like the best version of paper dolls. (aka, I was gonna draw other characters but I was having way too much fun playing dress up)

I thought they’d been posted in one of the sets, since they’re just me re-inking the first six sketches with actually decent lines, but when I checked, apparently not!

So my S/O and I collabed on this for a communications project I had for a wedding toast. I originally had Sevro being rather Horny on Main for Darrow and 10 times the swears but here y’all go.
Spoilers ahead! And a bit of wishing Darrow and Virginia has matching last names.
Dear Howlers and others, I am excited to be the one to be giving this speech for my Howler One, Darrow of Lykos. From the day I first started stalking him I always dreamed we’d be friends. He was probably the nicest of the people in his group, although that’s a pretty low bar. He helped me really work with my pack, the Howlers.
Anyways, our man Darrow was the best man on the playing field in our trials. Played people like pawns in chess, dominated the field. He also didn’t take much issue when I came around with a stinking wolf carcass on my back, so I’ll give him some props for that. A lot of the Golds were total pixies about that sort of thing, but Darrow took it in stride.
And, of course, who could forget the fact that Darrow was the sort of man who would end up courting one of the people who most opposed him? Not me, obviously and unfortunately, on both counts, but the woman he’s standing here with now. Three cheers not only for Darrow, who has refused all of my marriage proposals, even the one I’m half-tempted to make right now, but for his lovely wife as well, Virginia au Augustus. I know, how unfortunate she’s gotta settle for only the conqueror of Mars, liberator of slaves, the Reaper, the man who defeated The Jackal, and convinced me that cyanide teeth capsules were a bad idea… in retrospect, I maybe should’ve figured that one out on my own, but I was sloshed at the time! Or I’m sloshed right now; honestly, I can never really tell.
Moving on from that, I can’t even begin to tell you how proud I am of this man, Darrow. I mean, it takes a true, divine legend to be so charming that you can squirm your way into a marriage with a woman who was flat-out trying to kill you a while ago! I mean, Victra’s never tried to kill me, mainly due to lack of opportunity, but I’m undeniably impressed.
That’s not to mention the fact Darrow went on a right proper quest to get to this point. He’s my good friend, and he was born a commoner! A lowly red miner boy, cut and carved into a mighty Reaper bashing heads and carving tongues like the rest of us. We’re more than friends in my eyes seeing as my mother was a Red. It’s incredible what men with Red blood can do, when we stand together against the tide and hold hands.
We didn’t hold hands. But, in retrospect, I wish we had! Ah, but that is a time long past now. Now, Darrow’s getting married.
Look, I’ve gotta say, it’s been real. Ever since I was known as a “Goblin” back before I got the Howlers, Darrow was my friend. He’s a good fellow, that Darrow of Lykos, suppose it’s soon to be au Augustus; ah, names. They’re awfully meaningless.
I myself have gotta say he’s one of the most incredible people in the colonies. Darrow of Lykos, Darrow au Andromedus, the Reaper, whatever name you know him by, you know one of his names. He’s a commanding force, that Darrow, a man so powerful and intelligent that he once won a lie-detector test against the Sovereign with a giant bug monster crawling along his arm. I mean, I have… okay, I’ve actually won one of those too, but he did it first which makes it more important.
Seriously, the courage of the man. I mean, who else would pull something so insanely gutsy as allying with one team, leaving a bunch of people in wolf pelts in their castle, and waiting for them to party themselves. I tell you, Darrow’s the best tactician this side of Odysseus himself, and ten times the looker.
I kid, I kid. Not like I really want Darrow in my chambers. After all, the man smells like an ox and he’s twice as hard to control. Honestly, I think the one we should be applauding here is probably his good wife Mustang, as she’s willingly chosen to reign Darrow every last day of her life. Not a choice I’d make.
Darrow is not the sort of man who’s easy to reign in.You can ask his mother at base camp for stories about little reap running around the mines. Just make sure to take your shoes off and eat whatever she offers.
Darrow’s the sort of man who’ll play you like a fiddle and then buy you an actual fiddle to make up for it. I’d say just ask Tactus, but Tactus is very dead. He can be a little odd, for sure, but I won’t pretend I didn’t understand Darrow from the moment I met the sorry pup. He was a different man, then. I suppose we all are. Ah, but the passage of time isn’t kind to us! We’ve only got so long to live, and we’d better make the most of it.
Darrow’s living his best life, getting himself a wife and everything. It’s very impressive. I can’t… well, I can’t lie, I’m proud of him, and I’m happy for him, and I’m never gonna stop being happy for him. He’s an incredible man, that Darrow of Lykos, and he’s the best friend I ever had.
Now this was fun and all, but all this ale won’t finish itself! To Darrow and his new life as Mustang’s Bitch!

RISE is a very revolution anthem to me, Lion also falls into that category for me, along with Glory, Fire, and Champion

RUSH…it’s a little explicit in its lyrics (obv none of those lyrics relate to the fic) but it was a high energy song I wrote the final battle chapters to on repeat.
Also fun fact, one of the lyrics in another some of his I took as the title for another fic :) just thought that was interesting.
IF THERE IS A GOD ITS ME, kinda both a Tommy and Dream song in my opinion, both kinda have an ego, again with the theme of death and power over others.
RAGE just felt like a Technoblade kinda song to me I’m not entirely sure why, but it just fits to me.
I’m realizing some of these lyrics are…suggestive, just want to reiterate not be of those lyrics relate to the fic :/ guess my asexual self just has a music type lol

I have not! TYG doesn’t really qualify for it even during the final battle, and I doubt my other fics will (Maybe the terminator one but idk)

this excerpt is from a vampire AU I wrote in about 2022, I never got around to publishing it cause I got an idea for a better vampire fic I do plan on releasing and this one has been sitting in my notes app for a long time, I will probably maybe post this to the scrapbin, not sure yet though. (Probably good I never got around to it, cause it would have needed a rewrite anyway now)
Tommy needed something sweet like a donut or a pastry, so he decided to go to the best place on earth, Nikki’s bakery, but he wanted to see his new friend so he went to the alley to see Tubbo
“Hi Tommy,” Tubbo says
“Hi, Tubbo want to go to the bakery with me?” Tommy asks
“Um, yeah!” Tubbo says already vibrating with excitement
“Pog!”
As they walk through the door the aroma of baked goods “Hey Tubbo, who’s your friend?”
“Hi Nikki, that's Tommy”
“Well hi Tommy, what do you boys want?”
“A hot chocolate!” they both say
“Ok, take a seat,” she says with a smile, a couple of minutes later Niki comes out with 2 hot chocolates “Here you go”
“Thank you,” Tommy says as he takes a sip, Tommy's brow furrows “This tastes odd,”
Tubbo looks at Niki, eyes wide, and minutely shakes his head no
“Oh sorry, Tommy that must have been dark and not milk chocolate in there, I'll get you another,” she says as she takes the mug from Tommy
“So, why did you want me to come here?” Tubbo asks
“Well, I wanted company,” Tommy replies
“Has anyone ever told you that you're clingy?”
Tommy gasps in mock offense “How dare you call me clingy”
Tubbo laughs “So, um I want to ask you somethi–“
At that moment three of the people Tubbo never wanted to see in his lifetime walked through the door: Philza Minecraft, Technoblade, and Wilbur soot, some of the most famous vampire hunters ever, cruel people known for killing any vampire and anyone associated with vampires, humans included so Tubbo was immediately worried for Tommy and obviously himself
Tommy breaks his train of thought
“So what did you want to tell me Tubzo?”
“That-um, you are an amazing friend”
Tommy smiled “Thanks, that’s really kind of you”
He hoped Tommy wouldn’t do something stupid, for both their sakes

Red’s totally have black sclera unlike all the other colors, I'm just imaging pre carving Tommy’s eyes, all black and red… (Its ripe for fanart ngl)
