But FR, like dinah madani is bi, i don't make the rules, it's just fact. and her and frank?? the bi panic of the two of them on screen makes me lose my mind, like which one do i pick?? which one do i want?? (the answer is both) but they both just absolutely scramble my brain.

also, okay, the thought of those two like together has actually rotted my brain so badly recently. i don't think or it doesn't seem to be a popular like fanfic ship or like something that many people (at least from what i've seen) seem interested in but dinah x frank kind of just makes my brain melt a little.

obviously, i am a kastle girlie at heart. him and karen are just- 🫠🫠🫠 but i am nothing if not an incredibly self-indulgent woman and the thought of like frank x dinah x reader (bc i am whore) has literally rotted by brain. it's insane how bad it has been. like i've become actual feral for the thought of them. (feral to the point i have written a 13k smutty one-shot of frank x dinah x reader, whoopsie but we don't talk about that)

my brainrotting for those two aside, i am so glad i'm not alone in my bi panic over madani and frank because they make me absolutely FERAL and i just, i love my men and women emotionally damaged and slightly immoral <3

Matt Murdock and Peter Parker really are very similar huh?

They are “orphans” (or so they’re told)

They were raised by mother and father-figures

Their father figures and mentors died and they couldn’t save them

Their mother figures do their best to support them and their second life

They became vigilantes fighting crime in NYC

They have red suits

They use their special senses

They don’t kill people (usually) but a villain frames them for murder

And their girlfriends die in their arms because they couldn’t save them

I was in my Mythology class today and learned about the Oedipus/Electra Complex, which is a Freudian theory that generally means that children tend to subconsciously become sexually attracted to their opposite-sex parent and become jealous of their same-sex parent.

Similarly, other theories state that people tend to choose significant others that resemble their opposite-sex parent.

Then I was rudely reminded by my brain of this:

Marvel was foul for this (Not the creators of Netflix’s Daredevil, but the comic creators).

Her name is literally Elektra Nachios. She fell love with Matt Murdock (a blind man/vigilante), with whom she shared a mentor/father figure, Stick (a blind man/crime fighting cult member).

Autistic Matt Murdock

Ok look. This may just be my autistic ass projecting but Mr. Matthew Michael Murdock is 100% autistic and you can fight me on that. 

He is literally like /always/ stimming. You can see it in the show he fidgets with his hands or cane all the time, also that little hop jump thing he did in the college flashback. 

Also, I know he has super senses but they read to me a lot like autism/sensory processing disorder. I mean think, he’s not the only character with enhanced senses. Steve, Bucky, T’Challa and Peter all have them too (I’m sure there are other but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head) and other than Peter (who is also autistic and you can fight me on that) none of them have the same problems that Matt does. We see Matt having multiple sensory overloads throughout the show and honestly they are kind of similar to mine. Everything is too much and I get overwhelmed. Steve/Bucky/T’Challa don’t have that problem. Also “cotton feels like sandpaper on my skin” I mean come on.

*Season 2 spoilers for the next paragraph* When he looses his hearing after Frank shoots him in the head and he’s sitting on the floor screaming and smacking his hand on the wall? That is a meltdown. While I don’t scream during mine I do curl up in a ball and sometimes hurt myself. It’s a meltdown. 

His sense of Justice. Ok, so not every autistic person has a strong sense of right and wrong but a lot do. We can also see it in the fact that he would rather help people than make lots of money. I heard of a study done (Ok so this study is not without faults, it uses functioning labels and try to patholigize autism despite the results) where there were a group of autistic people and a group of neurotypical people. They were both given a choice, they could donate money to a good cause that would help people but would loose them money, or they could donate money to a not so good cause that would make them money in the long run. There were two tests run, one that was observed one that was not. The autistic group where much more likely to pick that good cause in both. Neurotypicals, on the other hand, were more likely to pick the good cause when they were being observed but the bad cause that would make them money when they were not. Matt literally chooses helping people over money every single time. Hell, he chooses to help people over his own safety every time.

His special interests! He has two big ones: law/justice and protecting Hell’s Kitchen. I mean he basically spends all of his time either working a case or on patrol. He maybe also has a smaller one on catholicism.

Scripting. I think he does a lot of that in the show. He describes his senses as a “world on fire” multiple times and uses “I’m blind” as an excuse for his injuries even when that excuse doesn't really fit said injury. He is also extremely eloquent in court when he can rehearse and know what he is going to say but often trips on his words in regular conversation.    

So ya, Autistic Matt Murdock y’all!

Manipulation of Ableism in Marvel’s Daredevil

Ok so imo Daredevil as a show’s best moments are when Matt is manipulating other peoples ableist attitudes/assumptions about him to get shit done. I think one of my favorite examples of this is when *Spoilers for season 2* he and Electra are at the gala to get information on the Hand. Matt purposefully spills wine on the accountant(?) dude to get him in the bathroom and away from everyone else. He knows that he won’t get in trouble for it because he’s just a blameless blind dude right /s. Later in that same episode when he and Elektra need to make an escape and they are able to do that because no one sees him as a threat because of his disability. He can’t possibly be the one to trip the alarm /s. I love all of this because that operation was only successful because of that. An abled person would have had a much harder time with it. 

Another things I love about scene when they are escaping is that when the guard rips off Matt’s glasses and shines a light in his eyes (which is hella rude) the look on Matt’s face is amazing. You can just tell he’s thinking well I know we need to do this to go free but but now I am going to be reduced to my disability. This man is going to judge me solely off of that and noting else and I hate that. And honestly? Mood. There have been times when someone finds out I’m autistic and immediately start to talk to me as if I’m 5 years old instead of almost 20. I had an english teacher in high school insinuate that I shouldn’t be in her advanced class because I’m dyslexic. It’s so frustrating! I think Charlie Cox shows that really really well in that scene. 

There are a bunch of other examples of this especially in season 3 and its just so great. Its a mechanism for survival in a world not built for disabled people but at the same time you can see how much peoples attitudes and assumptions effect Matt. You can see just how angry and annoyed he is and its such a quintessentially disabled experience. IDK I just have a lot of feelings about it.

Daredevil Age Head canons

My friend @marvelvibess and I were talking about how old Matt, Foggy and Karen are in the first season and honestly the timelines for the NMCU are really fucked up so this is is what we came up with. (This was posted with their permission) (Also spoilers for all seasons of Daredevil)

Karen: She’s 19 in 03.10 (I think) and it seams like she left pretty soon after that. We decided she's 22 giving her three years to get sober, move to NYC and get a job. She maybe drifted around for a year or year and a half working odd jobs and trying to get back on her feet. She finally moves to New York, it probably takes her 6ish months to find a stable long term job (Union Allied). She works there for a year before she finds the damning information and is framed for murder and meets Matt and Foggy. 

Matt: So I know I know he’s supposed to be born in 1985 or something but I’m disregarding that because its my head canon and I do what I want. I personally think it would be really important to Matt that he does school on time. His dad drilled into him that he needed to go to school and make something of himself so it was probably important to him that he did school the traditional way. So he starts undergrad at 18 and graduates Columbia Law at 25. 

Foggy: In the college flashback in 01.10 when Matt and Foggy meet Foggy says “I heard about you when you were a kid! What you did, saving that guy crossing the street.” To me this sounds like Foggy is a few years older than Matt as he remembers what happened. He also says when “you” were a kid not when “we” were kids. So we decided that he’s 29 in season 1. It probably wouldn’t have been a big deal to him or his family if he did school on time so he probably took undergrad slower and worked at Nelson’s Meats or something to save up. 

The date on Foggy’s computer in the flashback in 2010. I seem to remember that someone said something about “The Incident” being about 2 years ago in 01.01. This would kind of line up. Matt and Foggy started Law School in 2010 Matt is 22 and Foggy is 26. The Incident happens in 2012 and they graduate in May 2013. They work for Landman and Zach for 9ish months (they had to be there a while to be considered for the promotion) then quit and created Nelson and Murdock in early 2014. 

In summery. Karen: Born in 1991, 22 in season 1

Matt: Born 1988, 26 in season 1 (his birthday is in January I think thus he’s 26 instead of 25) 

Foggy: Born 1985, 29 in Season 1

These are just @marvelvibess and I’s head canon. We tried to use dates that match up with the TV show but honestly that timeline is fucked up so we ignored/disregarded some facts. If you disagree that fine!

Ableism in the Defenders Saga

Something that I noticed while watching the NMCU shows are how differently Matt gets treated from Jessica, Luke and Danny. Neither Jessica or Luke want to be vigilantes. Jessica has to be persuaded by Trish and Malcolm and Luke has to be pushed by Pops and Claire. Even then they both only do it when it becomes clear that by not acting people will get hurt/raped/killed. I don’t really have any intrest in Danny and haven’t watched much of his show but from what I understand his friends are pretty supportive of him too.

Then theres Matt. Literally all of his friends have tried to get him to stop and given him shit for trying to help people. Even Claire says she can’t date him because of Daredevil then turns around and dates Luke. Now Claire can date whoever she wants and I don’t ship Matt/Claire (NurseDevil???) but just purely from that standpoint its pretty hypocritical. The only difference I can think of between all of them is Matt’s disability. As a disabled person myself I can confidently say that abled people get incredibly uncomfortable when the people they think are helpless/need protection are not helpless and able to stand up for themselves. So, a disabled person who goes out and protects others? Unthinkable. 

But Phoenix! You cry, Jessica, Luke and Danny all have physical enhancements/powers that Matt doesn't have! Don’t they all have valid concerns? Well let’s take a look at Frank. He has 0 powers and yet all his friends support him going out and doing what he does and when they do argue its about his penchant for maximum casualties or trying to get him to stop meddling in government business, not out of fear for his safety. Matt is just as competent, if not more so, then Frank is. I mean sure his hand to hand is good but the only way he beats Matt is with guns. Hell Matt even beats Danny, the guy who was trained since childhood to be a master martial artist and supposedly fought a dragon. 

So really the only reason I can see for people to give Matt shit for his activities is ableism and seeing as Foggy says some incredibly ableist shit I don’t think this theory is that far fetched.

Matt Murdock has a Tumblr

This came from from a conversation I had with my friend @marvelvibess and was posted with their permission. 

-Matt got tumblr around the time he became Daredevil, maybe a little before

-He has three kinds of posts: Pulitzer worthy treatise on morality, truth and justice, the most unhinged shitposts known to man and incoherent nonsense, there is no in between

-He gathers quite a following 

-He post 2-3 times a week exclusively in the middle of the night

-His user is BlindJustice666

-Everyone is like who is this fucker and is he ok (the consensus is that he is very not ok) 

-Sometimes he posts things like “I think God wants me dead” and everyone is like ok mood but are you good??? (he’s not)

-People genuinely can’t tell if he’s a devout catholic or a troll (plot twist he’s both) 

-Someone: OP you good? BlindJustice666: God has forsaken me to live for my sins. Someone: Understandable have a nice day 

-Someone: OP you good? BlindJustice666: *audio clip of someone screaming* Someone: Understandable have a nice day

-He either has the best tags or literally none 

-Everyone is like this person either has a PhD or dropped out of High school and they don’t know which

-Someone: Hey OP what do you do for a living? BlindJustice666: *longwinded answer about serving truth and justice that clears nothing up* 

-The post after that is the same ask except this time he responds “well sometimes I punch people” 

-No one knows whats up with him but they love it 

-He gets the most batshit asks and he answers every single one

-After season 3 Karen and Foggy find it 

-They go to the Upper East Side to read it together thinking their gonna have a laugh but end up sobbing instead 

-They make it a weekly thing to go somewhere he wont here them and read his new posts to check up on him.

-They sometimes send him anonymous asks to check in with him

-When he posts incoherent nonsense they know to check for a concussion  

-He’s somehow unaware that they found his blog 

-Matt makes a very angsty and dramatic post after the fight with Foggy in season 1. Everyone offers to fight the friend he’s talking about.

-When Foggy finds this post it hits him how shitty he was that night

-At the beginning of Season 3 he makes some very angsty posts that low key makes everyone worried he’s gonna kill himself (their not wrong)

-Every few months he posts something thats a red flag 

-Matt figures out his autistic from tumblr (he’s absolutely autistic and you can pry that head canon from my cold dead hands)

-He finds out because he posts something and someone responds “hey OP you ever hear of autism cuz I’m like 99% sure you’ve got it” 

-He’s like 😮😮😮 {three shocked emojis} and does’t post for two weeks which is worrying to everyone because because its around the time he’s made a red flag post but he comes back and starts posting like nothings happened

-He deep dived into researching autism and figures out that he indeed has it

-This is around season 1 and he tells no one

-he makes some posts about it months later 

-Karen and Foggy find these posts after season 3 and are like “fuck” and start trying to surreptitiously accommodating that without letting him know that they know

-He stops posting right after Midland Circle (obviously) and everyone is worried

-The first post after is “Sorry I disappeared for a while I died for like a week them my arch nemesis tried to kill me and I kind of think I’m hallucinating???” 

-He posts “why do I fail at everything? I can not even die properly. God has forsaken me to live. His retribution is worse than Hell itself” after his Season 3 suicide attempt and everyone is worried (as they should be) 

-After that people send him asks like hey please keep living you make out lives better 

-He absolutely looses it when he sees those asks and Maggie finds him sobbing on the floor. he’s like “oh no they don’t know how terrible a person I am”

-He makes a whole post apologizing for playing them and making them think he’s not a monster

-no one believes it

-Eventually Karen shows Sister Maggie the blog so she can also keep an eye on him. 

-Her user name is just maggie 

-She doesn’t really post anything but if she did Tumblr would love her 

-Matt never makes posts with info that could be linked back to him

-However he does make some posts that are supposed to be “fun stories” from his childhood 

-He has some posts about Stick

-BlindJustice666: *random super fucked up story about Stick* So that was a weird thing that happened lol. Everyone: *concern* 

-Everyone is mildly concerned that he was a child soldier (Their not wrong) 

-Everything he posts is so incredibly specific or very very vague

-In conclusion Matt needs a tumblr like yesterday, he’s just the right amount of chaos to fit in well here
