part one. part two. part three.
summary: after discovering your husband cheated on you with his brother's wife, you run off to a different timeline using the subway, only to find a deli crowded with a familiar face.
author's note: this is my first fic that i'm actually posting lol, if anyone sees this i'll be totally shocked
âJust leave me alone, Five.â
You were speed walking down the steps into what looked like an abandoned subway, desperately trying to avoid the man you thought you knew, who was currently right on your tail.
âNot until you talk to me, y/n,â he pleaded, swiftly trying to catch up.Â
âThereâs nothing to discuss, Five,â you said in a cold manner.Â
You just couldnât speak to him. Not after what just happened in the living room with him and Diego. After what was just brought to light.Â
You wanted to laugh, you really did, but you just couldnât bring yourself to do so.Â
Why would you hear him out? Why would he believe he had a right to explain himself? How could he? A marriage of over half a century, down the drain. And for what?Â
Seven years with her.
Lila.Â
His brotherâs wife. The mother of his brotherâs children. The child of the couple he assassinated.Â
It made no sense.Â
You angrily sped up and quickly got onto the train that was stopped at the station. Itâs white light making you more stressed than you already were.Â
The doors shut in his face. Just a couple more seconds and he wouldâve been on this train. You wouldâve been stuck having to hear him try and save face until the next stop.Â
Sometimes the universe lets you win.Â
But why not this time.Â
You stared at him through the window of the subway car doors. He looked at you pleadingly. You looked at him disappointedly.Â
Who was he, because he sure as hell wasnât the Five you had known since you were thirteen years old. Stuck in the apocalypse with nothing but ashes and him.
You had thought it was fate. You and him were meant to be stuck together, meant to be there for each other. Even after everything thatâs happened. Apocalypse after apocalypse after apocalypse.Â
The subway started to move. You stayed standing, staring at him with daggers in your eyes until he was out of sight. He didnât chase after the car, he knew it was pointless. He knew heâd never get you back. He didnât deserve you.Â
Once the outside of the train was completely dark and all you could see was your own reflection in the window, you turned and took a seat. Hands in your lap, looked straight ahead, drained.Â
What were you supposed to do now? Where would you go?Â
Maybe this train would take you to a universe with a Five that could never dream of betraying you the way your own did.Â
The lights shone over you as you were deep in thought. You had no idea where this train would take you, when it would take you.Â
Suddenly, the car slowed to a gradual stop and the doors opened. You wanted to stay on, maybe pass by hundreds of stops until you actually got off the train but you heard footsteps passing by the station.Â
Something in the back of your mind told you to get off at this stop, that you would find something important.Â
You stood and slipped through the doors. As soon as you turned your head to scan your surroundings, thatâs when you saw him.Â
How could he have gotten here before you?Â
Five was casually walking towards a set of stairs when he saw you and stopped in his tracks.Â
You glared and felt a flame arise in you as you stomped over to him.Â
âI told you to leave me alone, Five. What the hell are you doing here?â you pointed an angry, accusatory finger in his face but he just grabbed your hand and gently held it in his.Â
You were confused, he seemed different. Less guilty. More sentimental.Â
Your anger faltered as he stared into your eyes with an admiration you were already starting to miss.Â
ây/n,â he said sincerely, âitâs been so long.âÂ
Of course he wasnât your Five. You had just jumped onto a multi-dimensional subway for Christâs sake.Â
âCome on, follow me,â he said as guided you towards a stairwell.Â
As you descended and turned a corner, warm glowing lights filled your sight. A warming, comforting sense of nostalgia flooded your senses. You looked up and read the lights on the sign, Maxâs Delicatessen, as the Five you stumbled across led you inside. The sound of a familiar vintage tune filled your ears.Â
Immediately, you felt all eyes travel to your frame. Every single pupil in this room belonged to a Five. The man you never wanted to see again. Each one of them looked at you with a shocked and astounded expression.
The Five still holding your hand paid no attention and directed you into a booth seat.Â
As you sat down, you took in your surroundings. The Fives behind the counter preparing food, the Fives taking orders, the Five delivering food, the Fives whispering at tables.Â
There were so many of them, what was this place?
The Five sitting across from you looks in your eyes with a knowing look.
âItâs not often we get one of you around here.âÂ
You shake out of your confused thoughts and reply, âAnd what exactly is this place?âÂ
Before you can get a reply, a waiter Five comes up to the table and places two mugs of coffee in front of you and Five. Before he leaves, he places a couple cups of creamer and packets of sugar next to your mug.Â
Without answering your question, the Five in front of you smiles and says, âWe keep those in the kitchen and not on the tables since itâs really rare to see you.âÂ
You give him an annoyed look.Â
âCan you explain to me whatâs going on?âÂ
âRight,â he sat up a little straighter and took a sip of his coffee. âYou hopped on a subway that took you to an alternate timeline. That timeline just so happens to hold a place where us Fives come after weâve stopped trying to fix the problem.â He largely gestured to the room full of alternate versions of your husband. Ex husband.Â
You stared at him for a few seconds, your brain rattled with questions, before you spoke.Â
âStopped trying? You mean trying to save the world?âÂ
âStopped trying to fix the broken timeline,â he replied matter-of-factly.Â
âThe broken timeline?â you repeated in confusion.Â
âThereâs only supposed to be one, and Iâll bet you can guess who shattered the original timeline.âÂ
Before you could reply, you heard a bell as another Five yelled out, âWe did.âÂ
Five made a disapproving yet knowing face as he called back, âWhy you always gotta wreck shit, Brisket Five?âÂ
Brisket Five shrugged at him then winked at you before returning back to his work.Â
âOkay . .â you started, trying to come up with the right questions, âSo, our existence is the cause of the broken timeline. Is that why thereâs constantly an apocalypse?âÂ
âPrecisely,â Five responds, before gesturing to the framed pictures on the wall. âBy the way, check out the artwork. All the different ways we made our universe go kaboom.âÂ
You stare at the photographs on the wall, noticing both familiar doomsday and entirely unique ones. Once your eyes reach a certain point along the wall you notice some framed images of you. Different photos of you and Five, living your lives together throughout the timelines.Â
The Five across from you notices your curious glimpse.Â
âI mentioned we donât often see you around here,â he explains. âItâs because itâs rare that you survive your timeline.âÂ
You quickly turned back to him in response to his statement. You donât survive? How many of the Fives in this room have lost their y/n? Has the Five in front of you lost his?Â
âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âYou and I will always meet, in every timeline throughout the universe. It just seems that fate doesnât always take our side,â he says solemnly as he looks down at his mug.Â
A Five piped up from the booth behind you, âMy y/n was killed by the Swedes back in Dallas.âÂ
Another from a couple tables away said, âMine died in the apocalypse, but we had a good thirty years together.âÂ
The Five in front of you looked up at you and said, âIn my timeline, the Handler shot you and you died in my arms. Iâm sorry I couldnât save you.âÂ
He gave you such a genuine look. Like heâs felt shame and guilt for so long, his apology was heartbreaking. How could these Fives care so much about you, while your Five forgot all about you.Â
âItâs okay,â you looked at him truthfully and took his hand in your, âIâm sure none of your y/ns would ever blame you for their fate, but they would for giving up. Theyâd want you to keep going, stay strong and do what it takes to save your family and the world. Thatâs what they loved most about you.âÂ
You felt bad placing blame on him but you didnât understand how the man who has spent his whole life prioritizing the safety of his family and overcoming countless obstacles and stopping at nothing to save his family could just give up. Sure it was tiring, but that was the life the two of you lived, together.Â
He smiled at you so lovingly it crumbled your heart.Â
âY/n, the doomsdays will never stop coming. The only way to end this constant cycle of saving and destroying the world is if our family ceases to exist.âÂ
Your heart slowed its beating as you stared at your interlocked hands, contemplating.Â
You hated to admit it but he made sense. Whenever your family is all together, everything goes to shit. People always die and the world will always end.Â
Before you could respond, you heard the door swing open and a tense tone fell over the deli.Â
The Five across from you held your hands a bit tighter as he glanced up at the Five that had rushed in.
Your Five.Â

summary: after you discovered a deli full of alternate versions of your cheating husband, you realize they would never hurt you the way he did. once he finds you getting comfortable with another version of him, you'll have to work together to figure out how to save the world.
authors note: thank you so much for all the notes on part one! i appreciate it so much since i thought no one would ever see it. here's the highly requested part two, enjoy!
You could tell it was him right away. Your Five had burst into the deli like he was crashing a wedding. When you walked in, every Five had a look of awe displayed across his face, but now that look was replaced with anger and disappointment.Â
You could tell Five had shrunk a bit under the gaze of his counterparts yet he firmly walked over to the booth where you were sitting with the new Five that you had been talking to. He had a shameful look in his eye yet held a stoic visage. Glancing down at your gentle hands still firmly held in the palms of the other Five, his eyebrows furrowed as he looked between the two of you.
âWhat- what is this?â He scoffed in an annoyed manner, like he couldnât believe what he was seeing yet somehow he knew exactly what was happening.Â
The Five across from you gently released your hands as his eye twitched and he stood up and faced your Five. Even though they were both exactly the same height, you could tell they were challenging each other by standing up a little straighter, your Five standing slightly on his toes.
New Five had an angry clench in his jaw yet held a slight smirk. He addressed your Five in a low tone, âYou must be a fluke if you think you can just apologize and win her back because thereâs not a single Five in this room that would hurt her the way you did.âÂ
You looked up at the two of them from your seat in the booth. You hadnât mentioned how your Five had hurt you, what heâd done to lose you. How could this Five have known? Still however, you appreciated his defense. You had always thought itâd be pathetic to see two guys fight over you, but to see two versions of the same man, one who has hurt and wronged you and the other who holds an unconditional and undying love for you, it ignited a spark in you that you thought youâd never feel again in your existence.Â
Existence.Â
Once the new Five finished his sentence you could see the offense on your Fiveâs face as he prepared a rebuttal but you shut that down quickly.Â
âEnough,â you held a hand out as if to break the aggressive tension between them, âthis is irrelevant. We need to discuss a plan.âÂ
Your Five took this as an opportunity to occupy the seat next to you in the booth but new Five beat him to it by pulling him back by the arm and sliding in next to you, as well as placing a hand on your thigh.Â
Your Five was taken aback by the action yet quickly regained his composure as he settled into the seat across from the two of you.Â
Waiter Five stopped by once again to drop off another mug of coffee for your Five as well as to top of your mug and Fiveâs. You thanked him and took a sip as he waltzed away with a wink. You watched as your Five took a sip from his mug which he immediately spit back out. The deli of Fives erupted in laughter as both you and your Five looked around confused.Â
The Five sitting next to you whispered an explanation in your ear, stating that Waiter Five had poured a couple of salt packets into his coffee rather than sugar. You grinned and hid your laugh in the shoulder of the Five next to you, him still facing you, your foreheads nearly touching. Your Five watched with a heartache as he dabbed his mouth with a napkin and set it back down on the table.Â
The laughter had mostly died down, excluding a very sloshed and disheveled looking Five who continued to chuckle and hiccup while leaning against a door.Â
You were still leaning slightly onto the Five next to you as he spoke, âSo I take it you figured out the subway system by nowâÂ
âAlternate versions of the same moment in time?â Five asked.
âCorrect,â the other Five responded, âWeâre all you from alternate timelines. Most of us here have given up on trying to fix the broken timeline.âÂ
Your Five listened with a befuddled look on his face and before he could question the words of the Five before him, you piped up an explanation, âItâs us who shattered the original timeline.âÂ
âThank you, dear,â said the Five next to you as he brought an arm around your shoulder. You couldnât tell if he was being this affectionate because he really missed his y/n or because he could see how badly it was ticking your Five off but either way you wanted to play along, leaning into his affection.Â
He broke your gentle eye contact to once again address the Five glaring at you both.
âThe timeline was shattered the moment we came into existence, leaving us with an infinite number of alternate timelines in an infinite loop of trying to save the world,â he said in a tired voice.Â
You took a moment to really look at him, he looked so exhausted.Â
So did your timelineâs Five.
So did Drunk Five, Waiter Five, and Brisket Five.Â
Sure they looked content in the deli, as it was their place to escape, but the tired looks in their eyes really showed how hard they had tried and how worn out it made them.Â
You didnât realize it but you were staring so deeply into the eyes of your timelineâs Five. With such a soft look he thought would never come his way again. You felt sorry for him. You really did but there is nothing that could excuse everything he did. Nothing could excuse the betrayal and heartbreak he caused you. That was his fault and he would have to deal with every ounce of guilt and shame that accompanied him in his downfall.Â
His eyes met yours, the green shining with sorrow as he attempted to convey all his feelings through his irises. You both knew your relationship would never be the same, even if you survived the Cleanse. There was just too much that couldnât be undone.Â
You broke the connection first, turning away to look at the tiled floor of the deli instead.Â
Your Five continued to look at you.Â
Your eyes. Your hair.Â
He never couldâve loved Lila like he loved you, how could he have thrown you away so easily?Â
His love for you was what kept his fire burning all these years. His love for you ignited his passion for saving the world, just so you could live safely.Â
Just so you could live without surviving on cockroaches or the roof of a crumbling library.Â
Just so you could live without having to kill in fear of being killed.Â
Just so you could live a happy and comfortable life, even if it no longer meant a life with him.Â
You clenched your jaw in thought before turning to the Five next to you, âWhat can we do? I mean, there has to be a way out of this.âÂ
He looked at you with an answer he was sure you wouldnât like, âThe only way this cycle will end is if you cease to exist. You have to let the marigold combine with the durango in the Cleanse.âÂ
You raised a brow, âJust the marigold?âÂ
Five looked at you confused, âYes, the marigold infected our mothers the moment the timeline was shattered.âÂ
âSo itâs not actually us thatâs the problem?â You waved your finger in a circle, gesturing to yourself, Five, and his absent siblings.Â
âTechnically not,â Five confirmed.Â
You leaned back into the seat as Five returned his arm to his side. You bit your lip as you tried to remember anything that might help you come up with a plan, then it hit you.Â
Viktor.Â
You remember how he told everyone that when he lived on the farm back in Dallas, he saved Harlan, the little boy who drowned in the lake, by giving him some of his marigold.Â
You also remembered that he was able to take away the marigold in the barn, and whatever was left back at Hotel Obsidian.Â
You lifted your head, your eyes bright as the idea swirled in your mind.Â
You brought your hands onto the table, finding that you explain best with random hand motions, âWhat about Viktor, he could absorb our marigolds and transfer out his own into the Cleanse. That way the marigold and durango meet but we wonât have to die, we just wonât have our powers again.âÂ
Both Fives were silent for a moment as they contemplated your plan. The Five next to you was the first to react by holding your face in his palms and planting a kiss between your brows. âDarling,â he admired, âYouâre an absolute genius.âÂ
Your timelineâs Five frowned in disagreement and jealousy, âWhat about Ben? If we combine our marigold with the Cleanse then heâll die in there.âÂ
âThat Ben was an asshole anyway,â you shrugged, honestly not caring since he was the reason you were in this dilemma in the first place.Â
He hummed in agreement, not able to argue with you on that. He stood up and so did the other Five so he could let you out of the booth.Â
Your Five didnât want to hang around for goodbyes, you had come up with a plan and that was that. He grabbed your arm and tugged you towards the door. The other Five quickly grabbed your other arm to hold you in place.Â
âOnce this is all over, donât go back to him. There are plenty of Fives here who will treat you so much better,â he winked at you as cheers of agreement ensued across the deli.Â
A blush came across your face as you looked around at the hopeful smiles of every Five in the room.Â
Maybe you didnât have to stop loving Five.
You just had to let go of one.Â
You slightly nodded and winked back at Five as he let go of your arm, letting your Five tug you back towards the subway with an upset stomp. Looking back with a little wave, you walked out as Drunk Five yelled, âAuf wiedersehen!âÂ

6. No, don't cry, i hate it when you cry.
10. Please, don't leave me alone.
(Not my gif)
It was another gloomy, winter day at the commission, things were dull as you sat at your desk checking inventory as snow drifted from the sky outside your window. Being weapons corridnator wasn't your favorite thing but it got you through your day and some of the people and jobs they worked were interesting.
Knock, Knock.
You looked up to see the figure leaning against the door frame and couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corners of your mouth.
"Hargreeves."
"(L/n)"
You stood from your desk to greet the man. He reached out for a handshake but you wrapped him in a hug instead. He stiffened for a moment but relaxed and wrapped his arms around you too.
"I'm guessing your not just here to visit?" You asked as you pulled away from the embrace. You knew the look on his face all too well, his eyes were dull and his eyebrows furrowed. You're smile drooped as he simply shook his head and sighed.
"No, i was given a job in 1920. Not sure how long I'll be gone." He grumbled. You knew He didn't want to leave, but nobody disobeyed the commission without paying the price. And if there head assassin rebelled? Well, they'd both pay dearly.
"And this close to the holidays..." you mumbled. The two of you had planned to spend the holidays together, even if it still meant working atleast you wouldn't have to worry about him but now those plans were ruined.
"I know, I'm sorry." Five sighed again.
You took a deep breath and wiped a hand over your face, catching a few rebellious tears. Normally you weren't very emotional but your frustrations from the past month of Five working back to back missions had stressed you out like crazy and this was the boiling point.
You knew Five would come back safe every time but you couldn't stand the thoughts and doubts burning in the back of your head. "Shit.." you cursed with a sad excuse for a laugh as you wiped your eyes again. You didn't like that you were getting so emotional over such a small conflict.
"No, don't cry, i hate it when you cry."
Five frowned and moved to wrap you in another embrace. You wrapped your arms around his torso and let a few more tears. Fall. A sniffle or two followed the crying. "I-i'm sorry..i just.." you stammered,
"Please, don't leave me alone."
"I won't i promise. I'd never leave you y/n." Five assured as he set his chin on top of your head and hugged you tighter. Silently you wished he'd say something else but you knew he wouldn't. You were friends and that's how things needed to stay.
What you didn't know about was Five's longing deep down to hold you like this and never let go. You were probably the realest person he knew at this time and he was very grateful to have you.
Five sighed after a minute or two and pulled away from the hug, using his thumbs to wipe away anymore tears and you couldn't help but lean into his touch. "Be back soon." You said with a small, sad smile. "I'll be back before you know it." He replied with a small smirk.
"Well, i guess i should get out the usual for this one?" You asked him with a small sigh, referring to the sniper rifle he usually used on missions. "You know me so well." Five replied, the smirk on his face getting a little wider. You shook your head and moved behind the counter to grab the weapon before coming back and handing it to him.
"Now get to costuming before Wendy throws a fit." You shooed with a wave of your hand. Five gave a playful scoff before turning to leave. He paused a moment, as if contemplating something before turning around again and walking back towards you.
"Y/n?" He asked.
"Yea-mph!" You were cut off by Five connecting his lips with yours. Your eyes widening as far as they could by the surprise and your body stiffened. It took only miliseconds before you relaxed and melted into the kiss, kissing him back. It was soft and gentle, but only lasted a few moments before he pulled away.
"I love you." He said, scanning your features for any sign of rejection. Of course he found none as a wide smile appeared on your face as you looked back at him.
"I love you too."
--
It's been a few days since Five had confessed his love for you and you the same for him. Of course he had still gone on his mission and you felt lonely without him, even more so now that things were official between the two of you.
The snow had fallen and covered the ground outside and you bundled youself up in your office with a nice sweater to keep you warm along with your usual attire.
Once again as was weekly rutine you checked the inventory of all the weapons. Counting how many were out on rental and which ones were due to return soon. There were a special few kept in their own cabinet that were only used by specific assassins, Five's sniper included.
But now that spot was empty and you couldn't help the small frown that formed as throughts lingered in your head of when he'd come home. Well, as home as the commission was anyway.
You finished checking everything before moving to the return slots in which a few pistols laid in wait to be out back in their place on the racks. Picking them up you turned to your work desk and began disassembling, cleaning, and sanitizing them. One by one each was cleaned and any extra rounds were taken out, cleaned and put back along with new ones to fill any empty bullet slots.
When you finished that and the pistols were put away you returned to your desk and sat down for what felt like the first time all day. Things had been very busy recently as many members of the commission returned from their missions quickly in order to take a break for the holidays.
Five wasn't going to be one of them and you knew that for a fact, he'd stay where he needed as long as he needed in order to get the job done right and as cleanly as possible.
You rubbed your hands down your face as you tried to get the fatigue out of your system in order to continue working. Multiple returns and check outs at once meant long hours and little break time which also meant little sleep and it was starting to take it's toll.
You only meant to close your eyes for a minute or two to give them a break but just like that you were out and your head dropped down to rest ontop of your arms.
Whoops.
--
Although it felt like a few minutes it had actually been a few hours before you were gently nudged awake by someone. Your eyes slowly opened and upon realizing you had fallen asleep you shot upright so fast you didn't realize the close proximity of the person and accidentally bumped heads with them.
You both hissed in momentary pain while grabbing your foreheads. You didn't recognize the person till they spoke,
"Jeez y/n that hurt."
You recognized that voice immediately.
Five.
You couldn't help but gasp as you stood and rounded your desk to envelope the man in a tight hug. "Did you miss me? I wasn't even gone that long." Five chuckled as he returned the hug. "You're not aloud to leave till New Years." You mumbled into his blazer as you took in his scent.
You were happy to have him back safe and sound like always.
"We'll see." Five said, you could almost hear the smirk on his face. Pulling away from his chest you leaned up to give him a short but sweet kiss on the lips.
"I mean it." You huffed after pulling away from him.
"Maybe we'll just have to runaway." Five said with while quirking a brow.
"If it's with you, I'd go anywhere." You replied with a smile.
And the plan was soon set to take the two of you home to Five's world and get out of this life of organized crime.
Then, the two of you could be happy in peace.
Night Terrors
Five Hargreeves x Reader
Warnings: none...?
A/n: this request was quite fun to make! I hope this is what you were thinking about while requesting, if not i apologize. I wrote this more around Five with the reader comforting him because i mean he was stuck in a wasteland for 45+ years. He definetly has truama/ptsd of some kind which probably comes with attacks or night terrors (hence the reason he hates sleeping). Also I apologize for this not being very long, it's more so short, sweet, and fluffy.

Prompt: 12 and 13 with five maybe?
12. "I heard you scream. Nightmares again?"
13. "Hey, just look at me. Breathe."
(Not my gif)
It hurt.
The unbearable heat and the acidic ash pouring into his lungs and caking everything and around him.
He couldn't breathe.
The low rumble of another building falling to rubble in the distance. There was no way he was back here. Or maybe he hadn't left? No, it couldn't be real. He didn't dare open his eyes.
He didn't want to see the corpses of his dead family.
He didn't want to see the burning city.
He didn't want to see the wasteland he had tried so hard to forget.
"No..no,no,no,no." He murmered as he tried to wake up, the ash seeming to muffle his senses and thoughts as he struggled to comprehend what was going on.
His chest felt tight and he wanted to cough as he clutched at the sleeves of his dirty blazer, his breaths ragged. He cried out in hopes it would all go away.
It wasn't real, he had to wake up.
"Five."
A voice. It was muffled and faint but he heard it.
"Five.."
There it was again, louder and much cleaer this time.
"Five!"
Five's eyes shot open as he sat up in bed. He took a few deep breaths and raked his hands through his hair as his eyes darted around the room before landing on his partner. "Y-y/n?" He stuttered. He could see the concern and worry in their eyes as he took in another breath to try and calm down though it wasn't very helpful.
"I heard you scream. Nightmares again?" They asked, also sitting up and placing one of their hands over his own and gently laced their fingers together. The touch was comforting but his breathing was still erratic.
"Hey, just look at me. Breathe." They murmered, tilting their head to get a better look at him. Five sighed, trying his best to steady his breathing as he looked into his partner's eyes. "I...i didn't wake you did i?" He asked after his breathing had calmed down.
"Not exactly, i was just about to though." They replied with a small shrug and a shake of their head. A book lay forgotten beside them showing they hadn't gone to sleep when he did. "Sorry." Five mumbled as he looked down at their hands.
"It's okay Five. Are you feeling any better?" They asked, tone raising into the question. "Yes, maybe, better. I'm better, yes." Five stammered with a small nod and he gave his partner's hand a small squeeze. "That's good." They replied with a small hum.
"Do..you wanna talk about your nightmare?" They asked after a moment of silence. Another short silence occured before Five slowly shook his head yes. "I...i was back in the apocalypse.." he said slowly, "it..it just hurt. The ash and smoke, i couldn't open my eyes." He explained further.
Y/n gave his hand a small squeeze as he spoke to assuree him she was listening. "It was hot, and i felt alone...a-and scared out of my mind." Five hated to admit he had been scared. He didn't like being so vulnerabke either even if it was with his partner.
"After a bit i heard your voice saying my name and then i woke up." He finished. The explanation was short but so had the nughtmare been. Y/n thought for a moment before responding.
"Well, it wouldn't be uncommon for you to experience flashbacks like that. But all that matters is that it's not real and you're alive and safe." They spoke softly with another gentle squeeze of her hand on Five's. "But it felt real." Five replied, looking up to meet his partner's gaze.
"All dreams do, until you wake up that is. Then they slowly trickle back into your imagination and are forgotten. Though i suppose that's different in your case." Y/n replied, trying their best to understand everthing. Five simply nodded in return.
The couple talked a for a little more before deciding it was time to go back to sleep. They layed down and themselves in eachothers arms. Five nestled into the crook of Y/n's neck as they gently played with his hair. The feeling helped lull him to sleep and thankfully there were no more nightmares that night.
Running into you again
Five x Gn!reader
Both of you are age appropriate (You both are 19)
Takes place in season 1
***********
You look at your watch making sure you timed this right. It has been a long time since you last saw your love, but this was his plan you followed and you didn't care you, wanted to help him.
Before you met your love you were one of the top agents of the commission. And i do mean top agent. But then you pulled the ultimate getaway. You had blown up almost half of the orginal buliding before stealing a breif case and making your getaway. Though there was a slight problem.
A bullet had hit the breif case as you timed jumped and well....you ended up in the right time...but the with wrong age. You had your teenage body and not your actual older body.
Shaking your head of those thoughts you made your way out of the apartment to the doughnut shop.
Once there you sat in the both and ordered your usual and waited. When a boy and man walked in. You watched them slightly as they talked.
Once the waitress came back she gave them their orders along with yours and smiled but, quickly left to fix something in the back. You took a sip of your drink as you watched the two before the older man left, leaving the teen behind.
You stood up and grabbed your things and moved to sit where the teen was. "You know...i never thought you were the school uniform person." You say. The fellow teen turn to look at you. " And it's good to see you too (y/n)" you smiled. "And you Five...i see we both got into a bit of trouble." You say seeing that you both are back in your teenage bodies. Five nodded "i had missed calculation"
"I dont think you look half bad actually...you look rather dashing Five. You could have been a real heart braker." You say with a chuckle. He rolled his eyes. "You dont half bad yourself but, how-?"
"A built hit the case just as i telported. I rather go through ragging hormones again then getting stuck in a different time." You say. "I guess the odd must be in our favor" five said as he leaned in more to kiss you. It had been such a long time since you last saw five...
"Now, don't think we won yet my dear. Speaking of which did you take out the-"
*click*
Five shut his eye, scolding himself as he remember he didnt take out the tracker.
"Tracker....Fuck." you both slowly ruen to see soldiers at the ready. The leader begins to speak but, your quickly bored. "Looking here sonny boy. How long have you been at this? " You question making them all wince. "If I had wanted to hear your poor excuse of a negotiation I would have actually been scared." You get up from the stool and move to the leader. "Jesus christ is this what the commission calls as a death squad? Maybe I shouldn't have left so soon five, could have train ya better? Who's been traing ya? Is it Wilson?" Five let out a scoff "it's Monroe." Your eyes widen "that idiot?! Ah shit now I feel sorry about kill ya. I dont even know how the commission allows him to work." You say before the guy can even finish his question. You flicked out the knife you had and proceed to stab him. "Ready to dance honey?" Five smirks and you smile.
The squad feels the chill of your smile. "You take the high rode."
"Ill take the low rode."
For five minutes nothing but the sounds of gun fire and screams were heard. To any on looker, who ever was brave enough, would take how you both moved in the blood bath, it would almost look like you both are dancing. Five would appear and disappear with a flash of blue but he never strayed too far from you, guarding your back. You pulled off many impossible twist and turns, your hands quick at slashing that it look like lightning, your guard Fives front. At the end the squat time layer dead while you both stood there grinning like cats. "Okay get that stupid thing out of your wrist and ill patch ya up at my place." You hand your knife as you reach ober the doughnut counter to grab napkins you both so desperately needed. "They really went to shit."
Five humms in agreement. "Yeah well... that bomb you set off took pretty much all the good one out. " he tosses the pill like tracker and hands your your knife. You smile and give him the napkins. "Where do you live?"
"Right across the street from the academy." He nods and hold your hand and teapots you both there. Taking out the keys you open the front door and begin the march up the stairs to your flat. "Oh! Speaking of which how was the funeral?"
"Well there's just a pile of ashes, Luther and Deago got into a fight...other than that it was nice"
You let out a laugh and open the door to your flat and let him in. The flat was bare with few nick nacks you gathered since staying here. At least you had a TV and some of his favorite alcohol. "Now let me get fix this then we can sleep" he holds out his arm and you begin to disinfect and stich it back together. "Your too good to me (y/n)." He spoke making you look up to him. "Well your sane to my insanity Five."
He places a gentle kiss on your forehead. "Lets get some sleep." He mumbles and allows you to show him to the bed. "Lets hope they don't send anyone else too soon." You whisper as you snuggled into him, he brings the covers over you both. "Mmm...I doubt it..."
"Night Five."
"Night (y/n)"
Hopefully tomorrow would bring a good day.

Warnings: Spoiler alert!; Itâs supposed to be a happy ending so in this story the Handler dies, the briefcases canât be fixed and the apocalypse is prevented without any explosions.
Summary: When Five returns to the Commission after his deal with the Handler he meets the reader who hates working there as much as he does.
The constant clicking and the occasional dinging of typewriters filled the small office room. Except for one all the desks were occupied by dedicated employees. All of them busy tapping away at the typewriters keys. Unlike them, I didnât try to get as much work done as possible. Unlike them, I didnât enjoy working at âThe Commissionâ. I despised working here, telling the agents what their next mission was. More often than not I was ordering someoneâs âcorrectionâ, as they liked to call it. Then again, I understood that the job was important.
I looked at the simple silver watch around my wrist â another hour until the break when I could  finally escape this horrid place with the help of my new book âThe Three Musketeersâ. I just loved how the four main characters fought for what they believed in, willing to sacrifice everything if it secured the life of those important to them. The black ink on the slightly yellow pages was the only thing keeping me from going insane because of this work.
Outside on the hallway I could hear the frantic footsteps of employees, but one pair of footsteps stood out. They were confident. A woman wearing heels. And they were headed straight towards our door. I knew these footsteps oh so well. Most of the employees were scared of her especially after hearing of her ruthless work as an agent. The Handler. And just as I predicted the blonde woman appeared in the door frame, beside her a young man.
His dark brown hair was styled perfectly only a few strands hung into his forehead. He wasnât smiling like newcomers usually did. A navy blue school uniform hung from his slender frame. Both of his hands were leisurely in his trouser pockets. He slowly and carefully looked around the room. When his gaze landed on me I inhaled sharply. His bright grey eyes were filled with such an intensity as well as mystery. The approximately 20 year old man oozed effortless beauty. I took in his appearance. He seemed so much more mature than any of the men or rather boys that I ever dated.
âEverybody, this is Number Five. I am sure you have all heard of himâ, the cold voice of the Handler introduced him as she lead him to the only vacant desk. Number Five?! He was one of the most famous agents that the Commission had ever employed. Everyone knew his name. He was the best of the best. He was like the Kanye West of the time-travelling world. I had always envisioned him to be a lot older, but I wasnât disappointed by this pleasant surprise as he was very easy on the eyes.
As soon as the Handler left I turned back to focus on the file in front of me. During the hour until break everyone tried to suck up to Five especially Dot who was sitting behind him. I almost had to laugh out loud at how hard she tried and how easily she was ignored.
When it was finally time for the break I quickly gathered my things and headed for the cafeteria. I grabbed some food and sat down at my usual table opening up my book. That break I continuously glanced up from the story to see if Five had arrived â I wondered where he would sit â but to no avail, he didnât show up. Neither did he the days afterwards.
The first time I saw him during break time was almost a week after he had been introduced to us by the Handler. He walked in and picked up a tray of food. His stride was filled with confidence. He ignored the calls of our coworkers offering him to sit with them and headed straight towards the table only I was sitting at. I greeted him with a smile before continuing with my book.
âWhatâs the book about?â It took a while for me to realize that Five had been talking to me as I had expected him to ignore me as he did with the others. âWhat?... oh... um. Itâs about these four soldiers in France in the 17th century. They are part of the kingâs guard and they would do anything for their king and queen. The book is mostly about how they save the royal family especially the queen from the Cardinalâs plans.â After I had given him a brief summary both of us fell back to silence while eating.
Then a question popped into my mind. A rumour I had heard. After gathering all my courage I shyly spoke up again. âHow come youâre back here? I thought you had left the Commission.â Five looked up at me with a calculated look before he replied: âCertain circumstances demanded my presence here.â I had no idea what he was talking about which was most likely his intention.
âOh... if I ever had the chance to leave I would leave for good no matter what.â âWhy?â, Five asked me curiously. âI just hate working here, especially with the Handler as my boss.â âWhy? Whatâs the deal with the Handler? I know sheâs a horrible woman but the others donât seem to have a problem with her either.â His question made me sigh. âA few years ago there was a confrontation between me and her. I wanted to leave. She wanted me to stay. Letâs just say it didnât end well for me.â
Silence befell us again until the young man sitting across from me raised his voice again. âAnd what would you do if you didnât work here anymore?â That was a good question. My plan always was to leave this place and settle down somewhere else but what exactly I would do I had no concrete ideas. I was lost in thought, going through all the possibilities. The thought of the things I could do put a smile on my face. In turn this made the corners of Fiveâs mouth slightly tilt upward which seemed like something he didnât do too often.
âAh, well... maybe I would open up a secondhand bookstore... Oh! I could have an integrated coffee and lounge area!â, my eyes lit up in joy at this idea, âmaybe I would finally meet someone and start a family.â Thinking of my future with a man I couldnât stop myself from picturing Five as that man.
Five sitting across from me at a small Italian restaurant laughing at me for getting tomato sauce onto my nose â our first date. Five standing in the kitchen cooking something while I tiredly sat on the chesterfield in the living room watching him â our first night of living together. Five comfortingly looking at me as I nervously ran my hands over my dress before walking down the aisle â our wedding day. Five running after a little girl with dark brown pigtails, gently throwing her  up into the air as soon as he caught up with her and catching her again â our first child.
Suddenly I awoke from my daydream and blushed furiously as I noticed that Five was looking at me. âWhat would you do?â, I asked him. âDunnoâ, he answered before turning back to his food. We finished eating in silence.
It was a few days after my talk with Five. I was on the way to our office room from a meeting. I was lost in thoughts until I walked past the tube room and heard a familiar voice. It was Five. He was talking to someone. Then there was a thumping noise like something had fallen to the floor. I carried on on my way. He was probably just talking to Gloria.
Suddenly Five came running out of the room. As soon as he saw me he grabbed my arm pulling me with him. âQuick! Come with me!â What was going on? What was so urgent he had to pull me with him?
Suddenly there was a loud explosion behind us. It shook the floor and walls causing clouds of dust to fill the hallway and me to stumble. As I threatened to fall Five quickly grabbed my waist with his free arm keeping me upright.
âWhat was that?! Where are we going?â, I asked my companion, my voice filled with shock and fear. âI canât tell you now. Later. We just have to get going. Get out of hereâ, he rushed. âWhy? What did you do?â This made him stop in his tracks and turn around to me. His face was completely serious as he asked me: âDo you trust me?â I thought about it. If I was honest with myself, I actually didnât know him. I knew nothing about him about him but still I found myself trusting him with all that I had â with my life if it had to be â and so I nodded. He seemed relieved at my answer like he had held his breath while I contemplated. âThen just do as I say, OK? â, Five asked of me and I nodded again.
After taking a lot of unknown hallways and occasionally hiding behind a closed door we arrived in the briefcase maintenance room with a clear view of the storage area for functioning briefcases. Five turned towards me whispering: âWait here. Be ready to run as soon as Iâm back. Do you understand me?â Then he disappeared with a spacial jump before I could even answer properly.
Now I saw him in the storage area. He grabbed one of the black briefcases before dropping something I couldnât quite see. With a blue flash Five stood in front of me again. The two of us immediately ran. Behind us I heard another explosion. We ran and ran until we reached a secluded hallway. Here Five took my hand in his, gave me a comforting look and opened the briefcase.
The next thing I saw was an old living room with antiquities covering every free space. Standing right in front of us were a handful of people, all around 30 years old, staring at us full of surprise. Five let go of my hand and grabbed the coffee-to-go cup from the curly haired womanâs hand. Then he emptied it in one go throwing the cup over his shoulder.
âWhere did you come from? And who is the girl?â, inquired a tall and muscular, blonde man. âI was at work. And this is my coworker (Y/n). Â (Y/n) these are my siblingsâ, Five replied nonchalantly, âSo, where are we at with the apocalypse? Any new ideas?â The four young people looked at each other embarrassed. âWell... um... we were kinda giving up.â âOf course you were. Well, at least someone did their workâ, Five replied sarcastically, âI figured out who causes the apocalypse.â âWho?â, his four siblings cried out in unison. âHarold Jenkins.â
I had tried to help the Hargreeves siblings as much as I could but without any powers I wasnât the most useful. In the mean time we had figured out that actually Vanya would cause the apocalypse. We were at the theatre trying to stop her. To our luck Allison was able to stop her sister from hurting anyone. When Allison fired the gun Vanya fell to the floor unconscious.
Immediately the weight of the world fell from our shoulders and all of us were flooded with relief. I was so happy that everything had went so well that I couldnât stop myself from hugging Five, my arms around his neck, a huge smile on my face. To my surprise Five hugged back tightly instead of pushing me away.
Suddenly we were torn out of our embrace when Luther cleared his throat. Everyone was staring at us which made us jump away from each other blushing furiously. âWhat should we do with Vanya?â, Luther asked his seemingly younger brother. We settled on taking her with us to the Academy where Grace could take care of her.
The six of us celebrated our success with a few drinks in the living room. I enjoyed spending time with the Hargreeves siblings, especially now with all the stress of the last few days gone. It almost felt like I was a part of their family. I was sitting on the couch next to Klaus laughing about one of his comments. I hadnât been this happy and carefree for a long time and I enjoyed it.
Just as I finished my drink I looked up and saw Five looking at me, silently gesturing me to follow him out to the hallway. âIâll be right backâ, I told Klaus while setting my glass down on a side table. Klaus wiggled his eyebrows knowingly. âStop that!â, I had to laugh as I left the room.
Five was leaning against one of the pillars waiting for me. As I walked over to him he straightened up. He seemed a little unsure of him self, which was surprising to me. Â I stopped in front of him wondering why he wanted me to come with him. He loosened his tie and gulped nervously.
âWhat happened back at the theatre, I... I would never have done that with anyone but you. And... um... I... Iâve been having these... these feelings for you for.... a while now. And... um... I...â, Five stammered out.
I had never seen Five as nervous as this. He never stuttered. For the past few days that I had known him he always was confident and sure of himself. I knew where this conversation was going and so I decided to make it a little easier for him by interrupting his stammering with a kiss.
At first Five was surprised and a little shocked but then he started to kiss back shyly. âI like you too and I would love to be your girlfriendâ, I answered his silent question when we broke apart in need of air. Right then we heard wolf whistling and as we looked up we saw Klaus standing in the door frame.
âShut up, Klaus!â, Five replied, back to his normal confident and sarcastic self before he turned back and kissed me passionately.
