When I first found out about the allegations, I legitimately wanted to cry in frustration. I can’t do this anymore.

they’ve done this at least four times now: they’ve worked and remain friends with Layla Taliborn and Jax, and they’ve kept Brock Baker on the team, and i think i heard that they let Marc Lovallo back on the discord*, and now this.
regardless of how they treat this case, theyre still letting people with unresolved sexual assault and grooming allegations onto their fucking team. as a fan of eddsworld, and as a survivor of csa and grooming, im fucking disgusted, and tired, and most of all im sick of watching them get away with it.
stop letting them get away with it. make them fucking listen. for god’s sake, they arent infallible. theyre letting these people in their fucking show. even classic eddsworld knew not to associate with groomers and pedophiles (see: dominic/hellucard’s irl counterpart)
im not saying harass the crew: dont send them death threats or threaten their loved ones or whatever. i think you all know the difference between harassment and holding people accountable to their actions. what i AM saying is boycott their shit, and start commenting about their involvement with these people in their discord, on their twitter, on their insta, wherever theyll fucking see it.
we know they won’t take us seriously unless we’re vocal and demanding about it. they won’t listen to us until it starts affecting their merch sales and their subscriber count and their viewership counts.
for gods sake, start being vocal. take direct action. dont let them do this a fourth time.

We are actually related, but may I ask on what grounds? I personally haven't seen any evidence of it, but if he's actively grooming kids I would like to see some pretty solid proof before I believe a random anon.

Basically, parents can sign their kids up to have older kids or young adults that check in on them when they feel like they just aren't getting through to their kids. It's country-wide, tends to stick to virtual instead of irl meetups, and all communications are reviewed to ensure there's no predators targeting the kids.
And it kinda...grew. Into a huge thing.
Kids will tell other kids a lot of horrid shit, specifically horrid shit that happens to them.
A lot of abusers got unearthed in that first year.
So Tim is a Big Brother in the program. A required reporter of abuse, trained to recognize the signs.
He's assigned to one Daniel Fenton; the kid had a bad accident a few months ago, and ever since then he's been worrying his sister.
The kid lied, of course, and said his parents signed him up for the program, but Tim can read between the lines.
He makes a note of it, and Social Services deems it a non-emergency, and the kids parents are put on the backburner for questioning.
Honestly fourteen isn't that big of a gap from eighteen, but they get along well.
Then the kid starts saying...more and more concerning things.
That sleeping means people getting hurt, an evil lunch lady who actively tried to kill him, asking how to properly do a row of stitches, etc.
Tim gets really concerned when Danny starts going on about how weirdly obsessive his godfather is, how the man is a fruitloop, and starts alluding to physical abuse.
Then Danny stops replying entirely.
Tim sounds the alarm.
Social Services and police arrive at the Fentons, but Tim received unfortunate word that while they found the Fentons Danny is nowhere to be seen. Per the Fentons, he's at his GodFathers and has been for the past year as part of a therapy program for "healing in nature".
Tim legitimately steals the Batjet to get to Wisconsin before the cops or the Fentons can, finds the manor, and as he's about to infiltrate it a teenage boy staggers out of the woods.
He's covered in blood, there's a fucking bear trap on his leg, and he's holding a newborn baby.
Basically, AU where when Dani was made, Danny was being held prisoner in Vlad's Manor because Vlad convinced Danny's parents that it would be good for the "poor boy" to be so close to nature and away from whatever was stressing him at home. Danny finds out about Dani, but when she's just made infant stage of life. Technically a premature baby. He breaks her out and makes a run for it, but between dodging all of the ghost animals and traps, he gets fucked up. Turns out the best way to dodge Vlad's tracking tech is to be human, so that's what he does. He was not expecting his Big Brother Mentor to be waiting on the edge of the forest, standing there in an armani suit while the lights from the fucking BatJet outlined him from behind. Tim sees a teenager who went missing for almost a year with a premature baby and makes some assumptions. They are not good assumptions.

why purity culture applies to antis
I would be vastly more sympathetic to the “the term purity culture should refer only to a specific religious system of misogyny and using it to talk about antis elides its origins, thereby devaluing a serious issue” argument if anti culture wasn’t functionally defined by using the word “pedophilia” to mean “what happens when anyone of any age writes stories where a character younger than eighteen kisses someone or is otherwise sexual.”
Like. I’m just. I’m sorry, but you cannot grossly misuse such serious terms as pedophilia or incest by arguing repeatedly that depiction is always endorsement, that there’s no difference between fictional people and real people, and that any sexual fantasy a person enjoys precisely because it isn’t real is indistinguishable from a fantasy they want to see enacted IRL, then get mad when someone points out that you’re morally policing the sexuality of strangers using strikingly similar arguments to the purity culture people.
When someone writes gory, gruesome murder stories, even if they’re written from the POV of a psychopathic killer, our first thought is not, “oh shit, that person is either an aspiring serial killer or they have bodies in their basement,” because we understand the distinction between fiction and reality. But if someone writes about dark sexual themes and suddenly you’re freaking out about their sexuality IRL? That is because you’ve absorbed puritan views about sex, ie, the idea that your sexual imagination and your sexual desires are one and the same, such that, if you indulge in “sinful” fantasies, it’s as bad as doing those things.
The reason religious purity culture is so obsessed with female chastity to the point of demonising masturbation or premarital anything is due to the belief that female sexuality exists solely for male pleasure, and therefore male approval. A father ‘owns’ his daughter’s chastity until he ‘gives’ her to a husband; therefore, she must stay ‘pure’ for their sake, because any indulgence on her part will ‘taint’ that purity. Crucially, the belief is also that one woman is potentially representative of all women: one ‘loose’ woman can make all women loose in the eyes of men, and therefore you aren’t just protecting yourself and your chastity by acting modestly, but the reputation of other women you’ve never even met. You’re simultaneously responsible for the virtue of women as a category while also being the keeper of such specific chaste value as, through you, belongs to your father and future husband. This is also why ‘pure’ women are encouraged to shun ‘impure’ women - impurity is transitive by association, such that if you, a ‘pure’ woman, are seen to associate with an ‘impure’ woman, well; that must only be because you, too, are secretly impure. This being so, it’s likewise expected that men, being more sexual creatures, will be lustful and sexually desirous, such that women are expected to curtail the presentation of their own sexuality in all forms to avoid ‘tempting’ them to sin, both against themselves and, potentially, other women; this is both deeply misogynistic and a way to blame victims for ‘leading on’ their assailants.
It’s also the exact same logic that antis use - not because antis are misogynistic patriarchs, but because they, too, argue that an individual’s sexuality must be curtailed in order to prevent hypothetical strangers from being ‘tempted’ towards their worst inclinations or, if they didn’t have those inclinations beforehand, made to ‘stray from the path’.
“You can’t ship those two underage characters - someone might use that fic to prey on a minor!” Such a thing, if it happened, would inarguably be the fault of the predator, who did not magically spring into existence the second the fic was written, even if the fic in question was actual darkfic and not just two 16yos consensually getting to second base; nonetheless, anti logic - like purity culture - will blame the ficwriter for ‘inciting’ the predation.
Bottom line: when you tell someone, “your sexual fantasies are bad and wrong, if you’ve EVER found X concept arousing in the privacy of your mind or in a fictional context, that means you want it exactly the same way IRL and are therefore either a predator or the willing inspiration of predators,” YOU ARE ENGAGING IN A LITERAL FORM OF PURITY CULTURE. The underlying dogma you use to shore up your claims is less important than the logic you use to enforce them: and that logic is, “you must strive to meet my specific moral definition of sexual purity, because if you don’t, you’ll provoke sexual malfeasance towards yourself and others, and when that happens, it’ll be your fault.”
I agree with where this ended up (with minors can and should be friends with adults), but this doesn't stand for romantic relationships. One of the reasons minors can't be in romantic relationships with an adult is that they usually haven't had as much experience with romantic relationships, and are still trying to figure things out. This makes it easy for someone more experienced to take advantage of them.
However, friendships are a different story. Minors will usually have had plenty of friendships, and most likely will be able to tell if something is off, or if they're being taken advantage of.
here’s a thought: the reason why adult/minor friendships are looked upon with suspicion, and the reason why adults with minor friends are accused of being predatory or having bad intentions, is because we think that minors don’t have anything of value to offer adults that isn’t sex/a relationship. it’s a continuation of the way adults devalue minors and their perspectives and contributions to the world.
ok but legitimately i think the reason why kids aren’t taking internet safety seriously is because the people who are telling us not to put our personal information out seem so out of touch. no one acknowledges the possibility of meeting very real teenaged friends online, they always say that everyone you meet is a 40 year old white man in disguise. because they aren’t acknowledging things we know are true, it becomes a lot easier to dismiss the rest of what they’re saying as well. internet safety lessons absolutely must keep up with the times and acknowledge the internet’s capacity for good if you want kids to take to heart warnings about its capacity for bad.

I was forcefully outed to my family about a year ago by a vindictive ex friend when he asked me tobe his gf and I trusted him enough to tell him no because I’m gay. my whole family was horrified and I just barely avoided being sent to conversion camp by swearing to my them that I wasn’t acting on it physically. two months later, they sent me to live with my father’s sister and her husband in another state for seven months and the last few weeks that I was there my uncle assaulted me several times, claiming that he was going to “teach me to enjoy what god wants me to love”. I was so traumatized by the assault and my state of mind only got worse when I went back home because my parents could tell something was different and they interpreted it as having been succesfully “converted” by my time with my aunt and uncle.
my absolute worst fear was realized when I saw my doctor two weeks ago and he told me I was pregnant. Im only 16 I know I cannot handle having a child especially as the product of my assault. in tenessee abortion laws are so rigid and restrictive and there aren’t even any clinics close to me that can help. I’m afraid any place in state will tell my parents what I’m trying to do because I’m so young. my only chance is to go out of state with my cousin for the abortion pill which will cost me at least $970 because I’m completely uninsured. I’m already about a month along so I have six weeks left to take the pill successfully. I beat myself up every day for not just denying the truth and telling them my friend was just angry at me and lying because he knew they’d be disgsted. my anxiety has never been thsi bad, I don’t know what I’ll do to myself if I can’t get this abortion.
