Some Percabeth shippers seem to forget that Percy didn’t choose Annabeth. Rachel dumped him and he started dating Annabeth because she was the only option left. There’s no way you can prove what would of happened if it actually came down to Percy having to choose between them.
The only reason Percy claimed that Aphrodite looked like Annabeth was because he's never seen Rachel, who is actually the hottest woman in the Riordanverse series, other than Zia Rashid, and sometimes Alex Fierro.
The parallels between Sally and Poseidon and Percy and Rachel are going to make me scream. Girl meets guy and her world is changed forever but he just gets to go back to his normal life... One summer that changes everything.... Cursed by higher powers so they can never be together.... Girl help I'm going to lose it
whatever you do don't think about rachel making percy the most beautiful blue cakes with intricate frosting designs. don't think about rachel and sally sitting together in the jackson kitchen until 3am on his birthday, making sure the cakes are perfect. don't think about percy finding out rachel's favourite cake either. don't think about him spending hours with his mom, trying to figure out how the hell not to burn the crust of an apple pie. and don't you dare think about him on rachel's birthday, knocking on her door with a beat-up apple pie in his arms. don't think about the adorable smile on her face, the hug that follows, them eating the pie while sitting on the floor, throwing pieces of the burnt crust at each other. don't think about them.
So I stumbled on this tik tok today and tried my best to only include the text bc I’m not trying to attack anyone or bring to much attention to it since im only using it as an example.
this is something that I’m very tired of seeing in fandom spaces, especially on the internet and especially in the pjo fandom. I myself LOVE Percabeth and I hate perachel, (I think that’s the first time I’ve typed “perachel” lol) But what I’ve learned to do growing up in this fandom is that yes, I CAN BLOCK ANYONE WHO POSTS ABOUT PERACHEL. AND SO CAN YOU. I CAN BLCOK THE PERACHEL TAG. AND SO CAN YOU. I DONT HAVE TO INTERACT WITH OTHER PEOPLE WHO SHIP PERACHEL. AND NEITHER DO YOU. Bc what ends up happening when you get into an unwarranted debate with someone over fictional characters over the internet is that you end up insulting REAL PEOPLE. PEOPLE THAT EVEN OF YOU BELIEVE TO BE “STUPID” OR “WEIRD” OR WHATEVER, AT THE END OF THE DAY. YOU DONT KNOW THAT.
DONT BE MEAN TO REAL PEOPLE OVER FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.
and it’s not just with the Percabeth vs perachel debate you can use the “out of sight out of mind” mentality with any other topic in any other fandom. Nerdy fandom things are supposed to be fun, and there is nothing wrong with blocking or ignoring people who don’t share the same opinions as u. With so many other things in the real world that actually do need to be debated on and thought hard about, fictional stories doesn’t have to be one of them. Not if it’s gonna cause harm to real people.

i have this headcanon that percy and rachel reconnect after his first year at new rome. he visits camp half-blood and runs into her. they talk for a few minutes and agree to see a movie together as friends. and within a week. they're back to finding comfort in each other's presence. having inside jokes. and bi-weekly painting sessions. and late might conversations about their hopes and dreams for the future. just a really healthy friendship that they've needed since they were fifteen.

Like, as long as the ship isn’t pedoph*lia and the characters isn’t…H*tler or something, WHY do people feel the need to HATE on it?
Just because you don’t ship a ship, doesn’t mean it’s a bad ship! Just because it’s not YOUR ship, DOES NOT MEAN ITS A BAD SHIP.

I was re-reading the books (pjo,hoo) and the one parallel that I haven't been able to shake off is when during tlo, after rachel kisses Percy she tells him go be a hero for her and what not. And then in hoh when they're in tartarus annabeth tells Percy not to be a hero and wake her up.
Idk if this was intentional or not, but this just clearly shows why Percy and annabeth work. All Percy wanted was to not be the hero, to be normal. And even when he thought Rachel was giving him some semblance of normality during that part of his life, its Annabeth who's always known. She knew what he needed, what words he wanted to be told.
Nobody talks about the fact that Percy and Rachel spent almost a solid year together between BOTL and TLO and I think that’s an untapped gold mine for fan fiction.
Ships
All ships are GREAT! There are some that I don't necessarily agree with, but you do you boo. It's all good. I won't hate. In fact, there are some ships I don't agree with that I have read fanfiction for (mostly because it was really well written).
It's all good, but I'm rereading the, Percy Jackson and The Olympians series, and I need someone to explain perachel to me. Don't get me wrong, I love Rachel, she's awesome. But she shows up for like a page in The Titians Curse, after percy had been absolutely obsessed with saving Annabeth. She plays a pretty big role in The Battle Of The Labyrinth, but the only relationship shift that occurs is Annabeth's jealousy. There's no romantic relationship between Percy and Rachel until The Last Olympian.
Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but in my opinion it doesn't compare to the years of slow burn and angst of percy and Annabeth fumbling around each other.
Can we also talk about how well written these characters are, like... dang!
Do some people just not like Annabeth? (that's ok, but... fight me) I get the whole Annabeth being hung up on Luke (whether romantically or platonically) but that just makes the slow burn so much hotter.
I legit want to understand this ship, so if someone wants to explain it me, that would be awesome :)
