Real Person Fiction - Tumblr Posts
Adding this from the future: guys don't look at this I went insane
No this is so real. -đ¶ <3
You were the one who I was most worried about not liking it so I'll post this for everyone, might as well contribute XD (redacted your name for privacy btw)
I need him so bad fuuuuuck
I know my brain is fucked up, has been since 4th grade but gods I wanna find him, stalk him and watch him through security cameras and later through his windows. Then I wanna break into his house, maybe sneak through his window while he's sleeping, steal a pair of boxers or a shirt he's recently worn... then I want to kidnap him, have him locked up in a beautiful lavish home far away from civilization with everything he could want if he could just love me. He'd struggle at first and honestly I want him to. I want him to back away from me for it to just be a wall or corner. Nowhere to run. Just fucking love me. Please it's almost like you're not real why does no one think he's amazing like I do. When he eventually comes around, I'd love for us to do cosplays together â€ïž he would be soap or **** and I could be Roach or a young pirate boy. If it really went well I would go for V**** next. I haven't really watched him lately but I remember his voice. I remember how they made me feel. Now that I think about it I'm probably not gonna post this but this is crazy. Is this how people with celebrity crushes feel? I've never been good with romance so idk. I think I need to make a character ai or Chai of this tiktoker or I'll go insane. Fuuck I need him so cute so mine pls please so mine? Please? Fuck his cute little waist and dubious sex. This little freak has captivated me. I'm like 90% he's trans.
Editor's note: I figured out he was just a twinky cis guy with a silly haircut and not, in fact, transmasculine. I still love him, of course, but I got a hit to my ego. Censored out the other person he could be/cosplay as it's an unpopular character that would make it too easy to find him. Also censored out V name.
Also, if you figure out who this is about, DO NOT send this to them or make them aware of this.
Hello there! đ
If youâre reading this, you most likely clicked a link on a Real Person Fiction (RPF). This post serves as a mass disclaimer as well as a guideline for all fictions of this nature.
(Click MORE to see all the RPF guidelines) âŹïž
1. The characters written are NOT real
In RPF, the so called âreal peopleâ are simply characters with the same name and features as the real person. They are NOT meant to simulate how the person acts, talks, or feels in real life. For example: there could be a fiction about Taylor Swift seducing an alien overlord to stop an invasion. As far as I know, the real Taylor Swift has never stopped an alien invasion. The Taylor in the fiction is simply a character with the same name and features as the pop star.
2. Content is LIMITED
To keep the comfort of the actual people these characters are based on in mind, all content containing these characters will be limited. Most likely, I will never write a smut scene containing a Real Person Character (RPC). I will only go as far as kissing or heavy petting MAX.
3. Real Person comfort takes TOP priority
If the person that an RPC is based on ever expresses discomfort towards an RPF, it will be deleted immediately. No matter how many notes, reblogs, comments, etc. I only ask that the Real People reach out to me privately so that I can apologize and take it down, instead of blowing it up publicly. Iâd really prefer not to receive mass amounts of hate because of a piece of written work.
4. Do NOT bombard the Real People with links
The Real People these characters are based on have not expressed any consent to see these works. They are all posted semi-anonymously on tumblr. Do not flood their DMâs or comments with links or screenshots of an RPF. Some call RPF a âkink,â and it is NOT ok to involve people in your âkinkâ without consent.
I might add more if I think of any, but for now, feel free to safely consume any RPF by respecting the Real People and following the above guidelines. :)
I'm curious.
Are there any RPF 'ships' that you are absolutely, wholly, without a doubt convinced have either fucked, are fucking, dated or are dating in secret?
(Excluding obviously celebrities who are confirmed to have been hooking up, dating, ect. I'm talking about the proper experience of having no tangible confirmation they are/have, but You Know.)
casual reminder that a fictional story is still fictional even when the characters in it are based on real people
what are your thoughts on RPF?
Chris Hemsworth could hold a gun to my head or promise me the reward of groping his thighs and I still wouldn't read self-insert/reader RPF.
I swear people who write self-insert and reader RPF fanfiction have a personal mission to flood any and every relevant tag they possibly can with it. Its like they have a game of seeing just how many tags they can force me to add to my block list.
I do, however, fully support RPF as a form of fiction, and I do read celebrity/celebrity RPF. I think, like any true 2012 girlie, my first dip into RPF was One Direction.
I have some points of contention with it, and I could talk quite a bit about the differences in respect, interaction and boundaries between RPF and character fiction, but the gist is that I wholeheartedly support RPF and consider it a valid form of fiction.
pls tell me you weren't one of those people who actually believed the guys from one direction dated. A fairly popular creator in my current fandom believes that not only did they date, they are still dating to this day and it is driving me mad.
I believe that I do not actually know these people nor what happened or is happening in their lives and that, frankly, it is none of my business if they did or are.
I am but a simple creature. I see two hot men and start thinking about hot, nasty, gay sex.
And then I go to AO3.
I wanted to ask about something: does the rpf of real minors considered CSEM? If not, does that mean tha CSEM is just refering to pictures of real minors?
That would come down to the legal parameters of where the work was created and/or hosted but in general, no, because no actual minor is being exploited. The 'material' isn't real and there's no visual to try and present it as such.
(In the way that hyper-realistic artwork or photo manipulations would. Technically the material itself is fake but it was created with the aim of presenting it as real, or assumed as real.)
That, and, it can be incredibly difficult to actually manage all the different criteria of what makes it a crime or not, and what qualities tip it over into the league of actionable.
In some countries its technically illegal, but rarely if ever actually prosecuted or acted against. In much the same way that technically, a lot of fan-made merchandise is illegal, but the companies and trademarks only ever enact a strike when the gets 'too big.'
The gist is, barring very few exceptions, and fewer still actual prosecutions, no. It is not.
Is there a difference between someone that writes rpf and someone else that has a parasocial relationship?
I really wanted to know, because I throught that they were the same
Well, yes, because you could write RPF about someone you know absolutely nothing about aside from a quick googling. A parasocial relationship is not intrinsically linked to writing RPF.
Parasocial relationships are just a state of relationship and existence. They are, by definition, one-sided relationships where one part is totally unaware or only peripherally aware of the other's existence.
In all honesty parasocial relationships are often being painted in a bad light by the media. They're often referred to when talking about obsessive fans, the inherent lack of privacy in the celebrity world, ect.
But, in reality, every single person who is a fan of a celebrity no matter how in-depth that goes, has a parasocial relationship with them.
For example, I am very much a fan of Henry Cavill. I don't actively try to seek out information on himâI follow his Instagram and I passively obtain information about his life from scrolling past some posts or articles here and there, but aside from admiring his talent and wanting to climb him like a tree, he and I exist on very separate planes of existence.
And yet, our relationship is parasocial. Because while I admire him and respect him and lust for him, he has literally no idea I exist. Absolutely buttfuck none.
In countries like China and Korea, parasocial relationships are often used to refer to stalkers and obsessive fans.
While writing fanfiction, particularly RPF, can certainly be a contributor to how you engage with your parasocial relationship and foster it, its entirely plausible to have a parasocial relationship and not write RPF.
Its also entirely possible for the reverse. Of course, in specific situations. Its not common, but its not impossible. That said, typically the people writing RPF are part of a parasocial relationship. They're writing the RPF because of their interest and investment in that person/those people.
Hey so i was wondering if you have a piece on how fanfics about real people. Been in fandoms since 2012 and well growing up in such places you learn ( just like you wrote in your fanficâs are a restaurant, donât order it if you donât like it)
(All within reason)
You can enjoy what to read. Your business no need to push it down someoneâs throat neither is someone pushing anything for you to like. Donât like it, it isnât for you, move on.
I wrote something recently saying how surprised i am I didnât find fanficâs on a certain actor, seen as there is always something for everyone. Then someone jumps my throat and says how unacceptable it is to write about actual people.
I remember vividly this conversation has been had in the sherlock fandom when Benedict found some ficâs about him and it started the conversation â actor fanficâs; okay or notâ
I told this person to move on and mind their business. If it isnât for you, move on. There is plenty of fanfics for henry cavill / jensen ackels and other known actors so what is the problem with me asking about a new person who is on the come up. It isnât a niche choice i know that actor ( alan ritchson) is going to have quite the fanbase after the ministry of ungentlemanly warfare.
So please tell me, am i crazy? I remember the debate years ago on fanfic morality being settled with the verdict of â as long as you are not a creep who is walking up to actors or bothering them with ficâs about THEM not characters and keeping to yourself as ang other fic⊠you do youâ
RPF is a touchy spot for a lot of people, but in short, writing RPF is perfectly fine provided you follow the typical safeguarding measures such as using sites like AO3, using proper tags to enable blacklisting, ect.
RPF is not and frankly has never been the problem. The problem is specific individuals with no regard or respect for real life boundaries and proper conduct.
Celebrities know RPF happens. Trust me; they know. They know people are on specific websites writing the nastiest rawdogging you can imagine.
Celebrities are also aware of the means by which they can avoid it. They are not clueless little creatures bumbling around and accidentally finding the likes of AO3. They know.
Just like with fan-to-fan content, its our job as their fans to respect their boundaries and choices by giving them the appropriate measures by which to control what parts of our world they see.
(Its part of why you'll never see me on the likes of Twitter sharing fanfic, fanart, ect. The filtering tools on Twitter are frankly appalling and the knowledge that my monsterfucking eggpreg ABO dystopian smutverse could end up on Henry Cavill's homefeed would leave me actually killing myself with a hammer.)
hi! just asking your opinion on RPF, iâm very very new to the proship/fanfic community and really donât know how to feel abt it. i havenât heard anyoneâs takes on it so far so iâd love to hear your thoughts!
RPF is just another form of fiction. Its no different to any kind of other fictional literature, fandom space, creative action, ect. The people are, essentially, just characters. You're using them to tell a story.
A lot of people's issue with RPF comes into play because of individuals who ignore the proper etiquette behind RPF and ruin it for everyone. The general concern is that unlike fictional characters, real people are capable of seeing what you create and getting upset, offended or angry over it.
This is where its important to remember the following rules regarding RPF:
Never send RPF to the people whom it concerns, people close to them or people in reasonable contact with them. Personally, even if an actor has said they don't mind RPF about themselves, I wouldn't push it on them. Accepting something's existence isn't always the same as wanting to be invested or involved in it.
Similar to above, make sure you're not tagging them or using searches the person is known to frequent. (E.g; if you're posting ship art, don't tag the people involved.)
Where possible, keep RPF to closed-off websites like AO3 and Tumblr where the people involved would actually have to go looking for it in order to be exposed to it. (Sites like X are next to impossible to actually curate and monitor and are awful for this kind of thing.)
Ensure you are properly tagging and marking your content so in the instance it can't fully be prevented from reaching the person/people, they are explicitly aware of what it is. (Another reason why sites like Tumblr and AO3 are simply the best option.)
Anyone who is famous will be aware that there are people who view them and use their image sexually. Every single famous person knows this. In industries like kpop, even, bromances are actively marketed because they know its lucrative and sought after.
Famous people are also more than aware of how to avoid content they don't want to see. They're aware of sites like AO3 and know once they go there its a lawless (albeit well tagged) wasteland of hardcore smut and the unimaginable. They know if they don't want to see certain things they simply have to stay away from certain platforms, tags, key words, ect.
Famous people aren't helpless little ducklings accidentally stumbling upon twisted non-con fanfic of them and their colleagues on an hourly basis like some people assume.
Although RPF is just another form of fiction is does require a bit more respect, conduct and consideration. That's all.
With RPF isnât it taking away the whole âprofictionâ thing away since itâs real people and not fiction anymore? (Genuine question, this isnât hate btw)
The thing about RPF is that whatever you create with it is still fictional.
You can fantasise all you want about Henry Cavill crushing your head with his thighs, but its still a fantasy. Even if you turn that fantasy into a story, its still fictional. There's a reason its called real person fiction.
When we create stories and art about real people, we're basically just using that person as a blueprint base for a character we're creating and controlling. While we like to think we know everything about a celebrity, we don't. We see what they allow us to see by a vast majority, and a lot of the time famous people also create public personas. We make them think and act in ways which are conducive to our plots and intentions.
It can definitely be confusing to try and parse, but generally I think of it this way:
I'm using the real person as a pre-made character.
Although what I'm creating is fictional, I'm still using a real person's life and likeness to create it.
It can be discomforting to read about "yourself" doing certain things, so for the comfort of all involved, its simply best not to deliberately try to expose the real people to what I've created.
I wholly respect people who don't create RPF out of consideration for the real people involved, but at the end of the day I will still defend RPF's categorisation, proper conduct and right to exist.

What are your thoughts on the yandere trope in RPF?
(BTW if you don't know what a yandere is, it's a popular character archetype where someone is all lovey-dovey on somebody else almost to an unhealthy degree(Sometimes this is played for laughs). Sometimes this results in the murdering of others and/or the kidnapping of their beloved person. You mostly see these kinds of characters in anime.)
