I so so deeply want a masterlist of every single book & film reference/inspo in NBC Hannibal, complete with comparisons of when in the timelines the event takes place. Does this exist already??
I would do it myself except I doubt I'd get through all the material fast enough simultaneously before my media fixation shifted. Not to mention it'd be a shit ton of work, there's soooo many.
But I just started a reread of Red Dragon and remember reading it for the first time last year in tandem with a Hannibal rewatch and being just absolutely delighted by how they pair. There's a lot of direct quotes and little references in Hannibal that are pulled from the books, which is an attention to detail I wasn't expecting. And that's not even touching on the myriad of other horror genre and art references in the show.
The first couple seasons of Hannibal also pick and choose plot elements from the books that are then recombined in a completely different order in the show. I just find it genuinely impressive how the show is able to so closely engage with its source material while also reincorporating everything together into an entirely new story.
Cannot believe the fact that there is Hannibal fan art in the Capitol building, #HannibalDeservesMore has been trending for like... 15 weeks now, the entire fandom have THE most persistently chaotic and supportive energy despite the show being cancelled for five years now, yet we still don’t know if we’re gonna actually get S4. Just wild.

Sympathy For the Dragon – Jennifer Loring
Just a self-reminder that even though I'm incredibly fed up with complex people irl, and I have little to no sympathy for criminals, they can be pretty damn amazing and heartbreaking in fiction.
Power means making compromises across party lines to promote the overall societal, economic and social provision for a united nation, making the nation secure and sustainable. They agree on rules and norms that are beneficial to all.
Equality is the equality of all and freedom is to stand up for the freedom of others.
Only in this way will America, together with Europe, be able to oppose the red dragon and its allies.

In a global competition of competing power systems there is no first, all democracy must work together and support each other, this sometimes hurts but ultimately the benefit in the long run is greater than becoming the minion of the red dragon.
We are counting on the new generation of politicians to rise to the occasion. We don't need the strongest, but we do need the most cooperative.

An older one of mine, I managed to get my hands on one of the limited edition Red Dragons released officially for DnD a few years ago. To be honest, not impressed with the resin they used, the only way the massive heavy wings don't droop and eventually bend into the surface it's sitting on is if it's in a fridge. Its just a very naturally bendy resin. I don't see how they couldn't have seen this as an issue, and that's besides how virtually none of the pieces fit correctly and had horrendous flashing and mold lines. In any case, I'm glad I've got such an iconic beastie, but I won't buy more
