Roleplaying - Tumblr Posts
Given that I used to do personality tests for roleplaying characters, I unironically feel like this is a good way to get a feel for characters, whether that's writing or for RPGs...
ever get so bored u start thinking about what pokemon teams ur ocs would have. Or what plushies. Their favorite games, all of them, in order
Reblogging to raise awareness of this cool campaign š«š

A sample page spread from the GM's Guide in our current kickstarter project, a collection of 50 system-neutral magic items for TTRPGs inspired by medieval literature, marginalia, and archaeology.
Okay, technically this one is inspired by pre-medieval archaeology, but come on. Look at it. You can't be mad at those little mice.
This was inspired by the following item of ancient pottery, currently held by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (link here):

And no, I cannot explain how or why I decided that this thing should be used to make helpful mouse-constructs out of wine. But if you want it to do that for you, you can back the kickstarter at the link below -- it runs until the end of June.

So, what is the OGL and why are DnD creators thoroughly screwed?
Tumblr has not been doing a great job at talking about this, but:
With OneDnD, Wizards of the Coast has decided to update the Open Game License (OGL). Said license is what allowed people to create homebrew DnD content and sell it, and even larger companies to use certain sorts of content. Pathfinder, for example, is built on said OGL. This also allows streamers and artists to exist and benefitĀ from said content.
With OneDnD (sometimes calledĀ ādnd 6eā), WOTC wants to create a much more restrictive OGL, which will, amongst other things:
Make WOTC take a cut for any DnD-related work (according to Kickstarter, a whole 25% of the benefits)
Let WOTC cancel any project related to DnD up to their discretion
Let WOTC take ANY content made based on their system, and re-sell it without crediting you, or giving you a single cent
And most importantly, revoke the old OGL, which will harm any company or game system that used it as a base, such as Pathfinder. And it means they GET ownership over any homebrew content you may have done for 5e in the past!
Itās important to note that OGLsĀ are supposedly irrevocable. They were planning to use it for OneDnD initially, but they want to apply it retroactively to 5e, somehow. Which is illegal, but lawyers have mentioned thereās a chance they may get away with it given the wording.

This means that anything you make based on DnD (A homebrew item? A character drawing? Even music, according to them?), can get taken and used as they deem appropiate.
These news come from a leak of the OGL, which have been confirmed by multiple reputable sources (including Kickstarter, which has confirmed that WOTC already talked with them about this), and was planned to be released next week.
So, what can we do?
Speak against it. Share the word. Reblog this post. Let people know. Tumblr hasnāt been talking much about this matter, but itās VERY important to let people know about what is WOTC bringing.Ā
Boycott them. Do not buy their products. Do not buy games with their IP. Do not watch their movie. CANCEL your DnD Beyond subscription. (Btw, they ARE planning to release more subscription services too!). They do not care about the community, but they care about the money. Make sure to speak through it.Ā
And maybe consider other TTRPG systems for the time being, Pathfinderās Paizo has been much nicer to the community, their workers are unionized and are far more healthy overall
Acting is glorified roleplaying

I reformatted Christian Sibbitt's 1.5 Jojo system a bit to make it a little easier to read, check it out here

hey uhm, i've actually made a cookie run roleplaying discord server!! it's slightly focused on the TBD lore, you can add ocs there and claim any characters even if theyre outside the focus, though its 14+ so do pay attention to that
everyone is welcome!!
Being good at roleplaying is a double edged sword: people keep coming back to me years and years later to ask me to role with them, but they don't stick around enough to catch up or ti actually stay.
I feel like a drug dealer honestly-
:absolute_shook:

apparently when you go into characters.ai and name yourself as another character associated with the ai's character, the ai would recognise who you're playing as in who you are..! in hence I am both stunned and incredibly impressed considering I have never seen any other ai managing to do this
...gilbert garfield lore anyone????

Game spaces can be unpleasant for women and minorities. Lots of folks have had overtly hostile experiences, or just a lot of little aggressive acts against them that pile up over time.
Still, I like to think that things are improving. They will only do so with our continued hard work, though. Letās all try to make people feel welcome in our hobbies!

Play materials for Armored Reckoning, a tabletop roleplaying game now in beta playtesting. In Armored Reckoning, 2 to 5 players take on the roles of Allied soldiers and freedom fighters in their makeshift tanks on a desperate mission to destroy the secret power source of a resurgent 3rd Reich and liberate Europe.
Design (C) 2017 John W. Sheldon. Some game play elements based on Atlas ReckoningĀ by Stras Acimovic, Giacomo Vicenzi, and John Leboeuf-Little which you can watch played here:Ā https://www.twitch.tv/videos/175866613

Dressing up the playmat for Armored Reckoning in some more flavor-appropriate designs. Now it looks a little more like an aerial terrain photo with notes scattered on it - as you might use to plan a WW2-era assault.
Next up, updating the vehicle sheets to include some more realistic tank designs (M4 Chassis for center turret, T-34 for front turret, AMX-13 for rear turret, any of which might be portrayed with a Panzer IV turret).

Prototype game board design for the recently re-branded Roar of Alliance (previously called Armored Reckoning). I moved from a tabloid sized (11x17) playmat to a proper 20x20 game board (though this file is sized 20x17 for easy prototyping). This version of the board contains all the relevant rules updates from previous iterations, and moving to a full sized board let me put places for all the various custom cards directly on the board.
