Some doodles of what I imagine the dragonets of destiny look like.
design notes:
Starflight: normally i headcanon night wings have bright star patterns on them but because Starflight grew up without moonlight I image he remained very dark and plain.
Tsunami: dark teeth mainly because I think it looks cool. I gave her pearls! I like the juxtaposition of her tomboyish and rugged appearance with very dainty jewelry (she’s my favorite design)
Sunny: I wanted her to have some subtle nightwing features. Mainly her fleshy nose that while resembling a nightwings could be brushed off as a weird mutation of a nose horn. That’s also why I gave her dark brown freckles, chunky horns, and light scales down her neck. They could all pass as variants a sandwing could have but together they make her look a bit off.
Glory: I struggle with her color palette so much but I really like what I finally settled on. I also think her horns look cool.
Clay: nothing of note really. I gave him some whiskers for fun and decided he needed pierced ears.

I disappeared for a little bit longer than I’d intended, but for good reason! I was working on this drawing and I’m soooo happy with it!
This is Sunny from Wings of Fire by Tui T Sutherland, my favorite book series! I don’t draw dragons very often because I have a hard time with them, especially fullbodies, but this turned out great in my opinion! I really like my interpretation of Sunny. The flag she’s holding is the aroace flag :)
I’m a HUGE fan of Wings of Fire, just ask any of my close friends 😂

Tui T. Sutherland: Aside from her gold scales and lack of a tail bard, Sunny is almost indistinguishable from a regular SandWing; it’s hard to tell she’s half NightWing at all!

When she`s startled - they go slightly up and back, surprised - straightly up, calm - just hanging down, angry/protecting herself - they get turned into a position that reminds about the way cobra`s cape looks like (probably trying to look bigger or more menacing). If your ears are that big, you can easily turn them into a certain position to make them look like the cape of cobra when angry or with the intention to impress someone. For example, Burn would keep her ears like this almost constantly
