Y un momento Ultrajack con sus pequeñas creaciones Strongarm y Chase

Y la reacción de los demás.

Okay, now there's a character I have in TFP I wish I'd see more of. And this is my cowboy Autobot Wheeljack. So if I can't see more of him, I'll discuss him. Brace yourself for a Wheeljack/Bulckhead relationship analysis.

I really like this character, but it feels so wrong that he gets no good solid long talk with Bulckhead about their history (at the point of season 2. Haven't seen season 3 and movie yet).
There's 4 plot points that aren't really explored with him and Bulckhead imo.
Firstly, Bulckhead's hard choices that hurt Wheeljack.
Seeing how Wheeljack couldn't let go of Bulcky's abandonment of the Wreckers, I hardly consider that the dialogue between them was pleasant.

"Hey, you don't know Optimus as I do! Being a wrecker meant everything to me, but I left it behind cuz..."
"Because Prime was the real thing blah blah blah"
There's some kind of undisguised pain/anger in a way he says it. And yet they have no conversation about it, even though Wheeljack is clearly hurt. For some reason I feel the kind of betrayal in Jackie's voice and not only because of that particular abandonment (though it's the main reason). The other reason of this pain is a second chance that Bulckhead has lost/ignored waaay back in a first season. Remember how Wheeljack offered Bulkhead to go with him like good ol' times? Call me dumb, but I see it like some kind of a test, last chance given to his friend he hasn't seen in probably centuries. But he failed. He once again choose someone else above him, above wreckers.. And I don't want to antagonise Bulkhead, he might have had the best intentions at heart, but from Wheeljack's perspective it was another proof of the painful truth, which leads me to the second issue. Time's arrow neither stands still not reverses, it merely marches forward.
Secondly, Everything stays, but not actually.
It's an another interesting trait I see in WJ. He desperately tries to hold on the past, the Wreckers. It was kinda confirmed by Bulkhead's own words: "...... Because some bots never change, hah.....". This is also represented in Wheeljack's desire to get his old crew together by seeking his wrecker friends, offering Bulckhead to go with him. Maybe it is also why Wheeljack is so against Ultra Magnus. Now this is where I have a question. Since Transformets: Exodus is canonical to TFP, there's a strange contradiction between these two amazing narrations. TFE says that Wreckers formed under the Ultra Magnus' command after the siege of plateau Hydrax (sorry if I call somethings different names. English isn't my first language and I'm reading the translated version), but in TFP he was sent by OP to rule them for some reason. What should I believe? But anyhow, my analysis is also proven by his inability to go further in some ways. Being a loner and unable to work in a team Prime may be a subconscious repulsion of novelty. He doesn't want to be like Bulckhead back on Cybertron. Which, once again leads us to the second big problem in the Wreckers relationship I wished we'd see them discuss. "Do you even care?"
Thirdly, Bulckhead seemingly carelessness for his fallen camarades.
While Wheeljack was searching through the space for his Wreckers, Bulckhead stayed at Earth with Optimus, not even trying to at least contact some of them. I know it wasn't Bulcky's fault, knowing the situation, but it still might have just be yet another proof how Bulckhead moved on with his life, while Jackie couldn't do it for centuries. The another moment that planted yet another seed of this realization in WJ's head was once again the proposal Bulck has denied. From WJ's perspective it just seemed that some human he [Bulckhead] knew for a few weeks/months meant more than him, than wreckers than the precious past. Which is somehow very depressing. It's way too late for me to come up with interesting transition. "What took you so long, Bulck? Don't tell me ridin' with Prime made you...... Soft"
The last, but not least interesting thing I've noticed is BH's and WJ's different opinions on the commanders.
I think this is the last nail in the coffin of their past. Like I guess in late season two/season three WJ finally realized that no matter how much he'd like to be back to the good old days with Bulckhead, it is impossible. It was centuries, Bulck changed and there was nothing Jackie could do but accept him, like Bulcky and Team Prime (kinda) did.
In the end of this dumpster fire of an analysis of this relationship, I want to summarize all in kind of TLDR way.
Basically all I've meant is it's sad we've never got to see them talk deeply about their problems with each other. It would've been an interesting dynamic of a friend who moved on and the friend who desperately holds on the past.
Okay, it scrapping 4 in the morning where I live. I have an hour of sleep left👍 and sorry for grammar..... I'll go a mimir.
Hiii, here's a postcanon fanfic I've been working on for a few weeks. Before you read a few stuff: 1) I didn't know Ultra Magnus' hand was replaced in the movie,cuz my procrastination doesn't let me watch it; 2) implied Optiratch but it's up for interpretation;

I will always think of you.
It was quite late. The day wasn't anything special, yet Ratchet, who was now in the med bay on Cybertron, didn't feel normal. The longing, that lived in him since Cybertron's restoration, was crippling more and more. Doctor wanted the day to finally end, so he can go home and let himself miss the only spark he cared about so much. The thought of him, his smile, his voice.... It was painfully tearing his spark apart.
The knock on the door stopped medic's thoughts. Ratchet sighted placing his servo on his closed optics.
"Come in", Ratchet said loudly.
It was quite some time since Cybertron was revived. Life was slowly getting back to the planet. Ratchet loved his planet dearly. He was fighting all those years for it and was prepared to sacrifice almost everything for its restoration. But this time the price was too high. He would gladly sacrificed his own life and spark if it meant his survival. But it was impossible. Even if he could, Optimus would never let medic to put his life on the line. He would've said "My old friend, this is a generous offer, but there is an other way". Oh why couldn't he see this other way for himself?
Ratchet's thoughts flooded his head again, so he didn't recognize a bot, that was standing in doors.
"Hello, Doctor." The voice was familiar. Ratchet removed his servo from his optics only to see someone he hadn't seen in some time. They kept in touch with each other (as everyone in team Prime did), but the work didn't let them communicate as much as they all would desire.
"Ultra Magnus! I'm quite surprised to see you here. How are you? What's bothering you?"
"I'm okay, thank you. Nothing specific. Just thought a check up wouldn't hurt. Especially since Wheeljack and Bulkhead wouldn't let me work in peace till I visit med bay."
Despite the wrecker's words Ratchet could feel, it wasn't his friends' unending whining that became a reason for this unexpected visit. He couldn't explain what made him think that. Ultra Magnus, on his behalf, wanted to visit this doctor for a long time. No, there was nothing bothering him. Magnus was already used to his arm-replacement, that was made back on war. But UM didn't know how to visit his friend due to all of their works. He has grown to care about team prime, but he would never admit it out loud.
"Okay. Stay still." Ratchet got his scanner and started checking former second in command from head to toe.
"How's your life?"
"Fine. Since the war ended I've had to treat way more patients, but Knock Out is a great help, at least for now." Ratchet chuckled.
"So you're on good terms? I, honestly, wasn't sure you'd get along." Commander's voice was genuinely surprised.
"Well, he was mostly civil, if you don't count eternal flirting." Ratchet rolled his eyes, scanning UM's body, which was generally in good state. Few scratches here and there — nothing so terrible.
"Tell me about that. You know how Wheeljack's like."
"Ohoho, I'll never forget his 'Sunshine' line!"
As those words left his mouth, doctor saw his patient's damaged servo. Ratchet's face quickly became more gloomy, as he felt his internal shame building up. No matter how much doctor has told himself that he did his best, nothing could ever convice him he couldn't done better. Just like with Bumblebee, Ratchet felt how much he had let down Ultra Magnus. This new 'servo' never worked good. At first it barely even could hold energon cube. The sadness and worry in commander's optics, as he saw his comrades leave the base without him, haunted doctor.
"..You sure you don't want me to change this?"
Ultra Magnus quickly noticed his friend's emotional change. He himself wasn't happy with his new servo, but not because of the reasons, he deduced Ratchet thought of. This damage was an eternal reminder of his failure to protect Iacon's relic. It was his punishment. Yet commender has never blamed field medic for that. The only thing lieutenant felt was gratitude.
"If it'll ease your mind."
"Knock Out!" Ratchet yelled, turning his head to the door. "Bring me some spare servo!"
"Say the magic word and I'll consider it!" The response was heard from some where to the right, behind a wall. Since the war ended Knock Out was on probation. He wasn't fully trusted at first, but now he slowly became more and more reliable. His attitude didn't change, but now he was surprisingly nicer. Probably, an environment where he wasn't threatened every second made him softer.
"Please, your highness, do your job." Ratchet replied mockingly, not making his voice any quieter. This kind of bickering was so usual that both doctors didn't even bother on taking offence.
Though there were no verbal confirmation, both bots heard KO's steps towards storage room.
"Now, please, lie down here." Ratchet pointed at operating table.
Ultra Magnus chuckled at this interaction, completing doctor's order. This kind of operation didn't require stasis, so bots kept their little conversation. Magnus wasn't a fan of long operations, as they reminded him about some terrible situations during the war, where he saw someone else being torn to pieces or was this someone himself. Yet he trusted Ratchet with his life during the war, and there was nothing that could change it now. Ratchet himself was used to more drastic view and could've done this servo replacement quickly, if only his thoughts wasn't plagued by self-loath he felt. "You are a medic!" The Autobot doctor thought, as he took former second in command's servo in his own, slowly trying to detach it. "How could you let commander be left for so long with this abomination of a servo? How dare you let Bumblebee live so long, not being able to speak clearly and just giving him false hopes on one day repairing his voice box? Why couldn't you stop him from leaving all of us that day?"
"Doctor, is there something bothering you?" Ultra Magnus' voice made Ratchet snap out of this internal tirade. Only now medic noticed that he has done little to no progress on a detachment and has missed a few of his patient's questions.
"Oh, it's nothing. Just.. Thoughts."
"What are they about?" Ultra Magnus pressed a bit harder. He could feel with his spark that something was bothering Ratchet so much, it would simply not let him be if they don't discuss it.
"They're about him." The doctor finally confessed, without looking up at his friend. They both needed no clarification of who medic was talking about. And they both felt the pain of remembering someone so close to both of them. Ultra Magnus could feel Ratchet's servo squeezing prothesis tighter as his mood became worse. "I still think of him. Every nanocycle I can't get him out of my head. I still can't believe he is one with the AllSpark now." Doctor's voice cracked in the end of the sentence. He started to slightly shake as he kept pouring his spark out. "Why couldn't he find another way? Why couldn't I stop him? Was it all even worth it, if he won't be able to see Cybertron come back to life?" As he kept going, Ratchet's words became more and more desperate. Now he couldn't stop. All the pain he kept inside was now pouring out, poorly forming into words. Optics started filling up with liquid substance, and before the old bot knew it he started tearing up. This overload with undying love and overwhelming agony consumed Ratchet whole, as he fell into his own longing.
Unexpected yet very warm weight on the shoulder brought doctor back from his delusions. Autobot medic didn't notice how his patient's servo escaped his own and now was sweetly holding him. Ratchet raised his optics at Ultra Magnus. Despite commander not saying anything yet, doctor suddenly understood so much. It almost felt like words were unnecessary. Lieutenant showed everything he desired to say, before actually doing it.
"Doctor," He started, his voice slightly quivered as he did. "He was like.. He was my brother. I loved him so much I was prepared to die for him. He loved me so much he wanted to show me how to live with family. Without you this family wouldn't exist. You showed him something he kept giving the others. Unconditional love and support you provided helped him go through uncountable amount of failures. You did your best..." This moment now fully opened Ultra Magnus. The centuries of war and loneliness were something commander lived with, which made him more distant. Yet he put it all aside for the one he cared about. "You supported him and his cause. Freedom. This was his choice to give us a freedom he never had. I know Optimus good enough to understand how much he desired to see Cybertron, no.. You.. Us obtain the peaceful life. And he'd never let himself stand in the way of this dream. There was no way we could've stop him. So maybe, the best we could do was to give him the best life we could in the surrounding circumstances. You've done this and even more. I could've never ask for a better family you gave for my brother. Thank you."
They both felt something changing. They felt the (metaphorical) weight on their shoulders being shared, thus somehow being lighter. Pain became bittersweet since now it finally made sense. Doctor and his patient could never know what Optimus prime wanted, yet this new founded certainty eased his friends' pain.
"Don't forget your own part. Bet you were the best brother Primus could ever gift Optimus." Ratchet said, slightly smiling.
Suddenly the door opened, and Knock Out entered the room. He didn't try to pretend he didn't hear other bots' dialogue. Quite contrary. The former decepticon had a badly disguised sad face, as he made his way through the med bay, holding a spare servo from storage room. Knock Out's optics were as red as always yet they weren't sadistic or angry like when he was a Decepticon. They expressed this kind of sympathy you can get only from someone who suffered something very similar to you. Red bot gave the spare limb to Ratchet, and placed his own servo on ambulance's shoulder, staying for a few seconds like this. This touch said more than any words could. But this unexpected moment of relatability and closebess ended as suddenly as it happened, and Knock Out made his way out of the med bay. The other two bots' optic followed the doctor on probation, full of surprise.
"Seems like he also lost someone dear to him." Ratchet said, still looking at the closed door.
"We all did."
"Okay, now let me finally change your servo or else we're not gonna leave this place till the next megacycle."
The newfound understanding eased doctor's mind and he did his work really quick. Yet this tenderness was plagued by the akwardness of the situation. A grumpy old doctor and a stoic by the book lieutenant, that both spent a great amount of their lifes on the fields of gruesome war, weren't used to expressing their deepest feelings or reassuring someone. So now they sat there in a complete silence, that sometimes was broken with a weak attempt at a small talk.
After the work was done, Ratchet asked "Now, who does your new servo work?"
Ultra Magnus started moving his fingers. This limb worked way better than the claw one; it definitely wasn't freezing as much for sure. The lieutenant couldn't hide his satisfactory smile.
"Thank you."
"It's nothing." Ratchet replied, returning the smile.
"Before I go, can I ask you and your assistant something?"
"Of course. Know Out, get your pistons back here."
"I'm busy, sweet cheeks. My finish's not gonna buff itself." KO's nonchalant demeanor was back to him and as strong as ever.
"For one nanoclick. And then you can buff anything you want." Ratchet rolled his optics.
Once everyone was in the med bay and done with bickering, Ultra Magnus started.
"Today we all learned something new about each other: directly or indirectly." Magnus made an accent at the last word and stared at KO for a few seconds. The former decepticon looked away for a second, as if expecting some kind of scolding or a punishment (working for Megatron didn't let him learn any different relationship with an authority), but lieutenant just continued. "I have a proposal. Let everything that happened or was said here stay in this med bay. I don't feel like sharing such sentiments with anyone."
"On it. If team prime finds out about it we'll never get out of Bulkhead hugs."
Both bots looked at the last one standing in this room since he hasn't said anything. KO looked back at them, testing their patience, and, after cheely smirking, said "Moi? Je n'ai aucune idée de quoi vous parlez."
"Thank you..?" Unsure of what was said, Magnus decided to be polite. The small confusion and timidity in younger doctor's posture didn't escape old medic's optics.
"Wasn't expecting such respect?" Ratchet decided to mock KO a bit, yet his question didn't lack a genuine curiosity.
"Well, when you've worked with people who didn't appreciate scrap you did, it's quite unusual to get such sweet treatment."
"I couldn't imagine working under Megatron or Starscream." The truck bot grimaced in disgust.
"Sometimes Starscream wasn't such a prick. Rarely." Knock Out scoffed. After a few seconds of hesitation, he dared to ask. "Is Maccadam's Old Oil House still around? If yes, want to drink some wisco together? Maybe even can get the whole Team Prime to join."
"I'll see if I have any weekends off. Wreckers are helping with rebuilding Iacon. I can't let myself rest while they work."
"I wouldn't recommend putting too much pressure on your new servo." Ambulance bot mentioned as if by chance. "And I'm sure Bulkhead and Wheeljack will appreciate this generous offer."
Magnus couldn't argue with that.
"So, what about tomorrow?" Red bot asked.
The other two agreed. Finally everyone went home, sending their friends invitations.
Out of nothing, this day became special.
"Tragedies really do bring bots close, don't they?" Ratchet thought. "Optimus, thank you for this family we've made."
Bumblebee (beeping): They were training me. Turning me into a weapon. For justice they said. They got their weapon, I got cheated out of my childhood.
Ultra Magnus: I know what that's like.
Bumblebee: You too, don't you?
Headcanon time.
Sometimes Bee gets very sad because he never had a time in his life where he wouldn't be afraid of death. He was born during the war and since then he didn't have what others did. Bee never saw Cybertron in all its glory and only sometimes heard some stories from Ratchet and Bulkhead about how great their home was. His life is in constant danger and he gets tired of it. Bee never got the chance to live peacefully. All of his life is a war.
Ultra Magnus has a bit different problem. He saw Cybertron, he was there. And he even was a high class, being a military bot. Yet he also never had the chance to live peacefully. From the moment he came out of the allspark he was assigned to the battalion, trained. Yes, everyone respected him, but for the cost of little to no weekends off, no time on yourself and constant battles. When the war came, caste system fell, yet it didn't help UM. Now he was fighting for the death and was responsable for thousands lifes. Half of his life is a war.
It's just, I feel like they both are child soldiers, who never had the idea of what it's like to live normally. So when Raf or Miko ask them about some childhood memories, Bee and UM would have the least pleasant answers.
But! Optimus prime and other Autobots really tried to give Bee something normal. Like, playing some Cybertronian games, reading some tales and ect. Bee really appreciated that.

I have a confession to make. I adore Ultra Magnus. Just a commander, who tries his best to keep his people alive/in line and isn't afraid to sacrifice himself for a greater good. He knows situation (Megatron won't let them go without a fight), he knows that if no one steps in all their plans, ideas, dreams of winning the war will be scrapped. So UM puts his and his comrades life at stake. This character trait was with Ultra Magnus from the start, even back to 1980s, since even decepticons respected his self sacrificial character. This shows great amount of bravery from him, because it's one thing to sacrifice oneself, but it's another to lead people in probably the most suicidal mission. Maybe this is why Optimus send UM to Wreckers. OP knew that Magnus is ready to put himself in danger as much as any of the wreckers would. And it's not like he's happy with it. Optimus thinks every life is very important and he even tries to stop UM, but there's no way in saving everyone. He has to agree, even if he's not happy. Optimus shows his stress by being a little too pushy on Ratchet, but then immediately shows his humbleness and pain by stating they "don't deserve their courage". And does a very interesting thing. Mb I forgot something abt Exodus (it's been a hot minute since I've read it) but Optimus, even as Orion, rarely showed any physical affection, so this gesture (some kind of a farewell hug) makes this scene even more sad and depressing.
And then there's this line that breaks me to pieces.

This☝☝☝ This is what makes GRAND difference between Megatron and Optimus. Former lost his idea of freedom of choice and if someone told him what Jetfire did, he'd kill him for disobedience. But Optimus didn't forget his cause. He respects Jetfire's and Ultra Magnus' decisions, even if it saddens him. I love it. I love that tf:exodus gives us so many stuff to think abt in one small scene.
PS it makes UM's and OP's reunion in tfp à bit sadder, cuz he says "commander?" Not in "Wow ur here" Kind of way, but in a "I didn't know you survived" Way. Which is sad.

Drawing practice once again!! This time I wanted to draw Bulkhead cuz my boy deserves some love. And then I just spiraled into drawing everyone I wanted. Also there's some comments from guys.
[ ID(???): First image is in the top left corner and shows Bulkhead. Miko says "You draw so good!", to which Bulkhead replies "Thx".
Then top right corner shows Bee with black eyes. "Bee!" "What's with his eyes?" "He does it sometimes.".
Then there's OP below first image. " "He rarely smiles but it's very starkwarming every time."
Then there's Bulk and Wheeljack. They say each other's names. Under Bulkhead there's a writing "Best Wrecker!🩵" And under Jackie is "Best friend!💚". Miko asks "Why hearts though?", Jackie replies "Why not?".
Also there's a drawing of Bulkhead holding Miko in his arms. The bot says "Marco" And a girl replies "Polo".
To the right of the last image situated a portrait of Breakdown. "TRAITOR!" "???" "Long story." "I hate him more than UM..." "???".
Last, but not least there are faces of Arcee and Ultra Magnus. Under Arcee: "She's cool." "Thx"
And then around Magnus: "He cares for us!" "I do." "?!?!" "Sir??"]
Well, it's time for my hcs. (Mostly UM and KO)
Ultra Magnus has a terrible CPTSD. Sometimes he hears a plane and immediately transforms his hands into blasters. When he talks to someone he tries to continue the dialogue, but all his attention goes to figuring out the location of the enemy. (+ he has bad sleep schedule)
I'M also has a terrible case of 'bad things happen to bots when I leave them'. He doesn't like staying away from the battle, because he cares very much for his new found family. He isn't afraid of dying for the cause, but he doesn't want to lose anyone.
At the free time he has helped some Autobots make their battle skills better. Like he spared with Miko in Apex armor so she could practice her punches and also had classes for medics (Ratchet and KO). They didn't have blasters, which is disadvantage, but they figured out the way to fight almost as good as others.
Speaking of KO. He wasn't very welcomed at team at first, so he was watched very closely. Yet sooner or later they've warmed up to him. KO was a bit afraid at first, but seeing that they meant no harm, he came back to his sassy attitude.
Also KO has some appreciation problems. When he was a decepticon he had to earn the respect and after Shockwave came along he felt very replaceable. He wasn't thanked for his work half as much as he should. So when Ratchet thanked KO in 3 season he genuinely said "you're welcome".
But the moment he felt he was accepted into team prime was when OP didn't let him on some mission. It went like "Why can't I join?", "Knock Out, comrade, you aren't in need of another warrior, yet we may use the help of a second medic." "We can't just lose medics around. Too important." Ratchet adds. After like the whole team nods. And KO felt so appreciated
After that he became very close to Team Prime and (if they stayed on earth) to kids. When some bully is rude to Jack, KO would let Darby drive himself in school just to show off. He'd watch horrors with Miko, and even tell some interesting stuff abt Cybertronian culture, organism ect to Raf
Also he'd race with Bee and Smokescreen, but he is hella competitive. Like this scene in Avatar The Last Airbender, where Azula plays volleyball. "You'll never rise from the ashes of humiliation!" "Dude... It's not that deep bro.."
Oh, and he'd be very awkward with Smokey cuz like... He tried to open him up. But Smokey doesn't mind it, saying that they're even after he put KO in the wall
The other very strange relationship he has with Bulkhead. It's because of Breakdown. Bulkhead hated him and, as we all know, KO was in a relationship with him. Bulk ofc doesn't hold anything against KO for his relationship, yet they'd have a lot of different opinions on BD. They would talk a lot, finding out more about BD's past
And boy oh boy he had a wild one. Him and Bulkhead were born in the same class. They were builders, as Bulkhead said 'I can build stuff, I can break stuff. That's all.' Yet both of them wanted to do more good in the world, so they joined the Wreckers (before the war it was a gang that helped everyone in need and protected the weak), where they've met. Bulk and BD quickly became brothers in arms but the war seperated them
Once BD heard a broadcast of Megatron's ideas of reforming Cybertron and became a great supporter. He joined the decepticons cuz he thought it was his chance to make the world better. He was so blinded by Meg's promises that he thought this crimes were justified. Bulkhead was more observant, and felt something shady and was grossed out by bombings. But the thing that brought them apart and made them enemies was BD's betrayal. Early in the war Megatron was merciless and Wreckers mostly opposed him. Breakdown pledge allegiance to Megan. He wanted whole gang to join, but they refused and Big M wanted to destroy them all. Breakdown told the location of their hideout, and when Wreckers met there, they were greeted by pistols. It was a big fight, some lives were lost. After that BD went with Decepticons and Bulkhead with the Autobots. Now Bulk hated BD for his betrayal
KO never knew abt that cuz he met BD later. Knock Out was a doctor in one of the neutral cities, that were captured by Decepticons early in the war, and decided to join the "winning team" Just to survive
After all the talks Bulkhead started to respect KO more
Knock Out, Bee and Smokey regularly forcing the gang to go to the drive in theaters.
Arcee, June and Miko have a girls nights where they judge everyone
OP and UM are very close. To the point they're mistaken for brothers (they call each other that in private)
Ultra Magnus doesn't like to show affection in public, so when someone wants to hug him or smt like that, they always ask him to another room. Like after OP came back in season 3, Optimus said smt like "Ultra Magnus, old friend, for a word". And then they are just hugging in another room
Optiratch. Just them. Married. Conjux endura. That's all
Megatron, Soundwave and Shockwave are mean girls.
Megasound cuz you can't stop me. And Shocky just third wheeling his spark out.
Shockwave actually started to like Starscream when they were left on earth.
Agent Fowler and June dating, cuz they both deserve better
KO, Arcee and Ratchet form a widow club after the film.
KO and Arcee beat Arachnid's aft together.
That's all for now.
It's once again a nighttime and I'm once again here with scene/character analysis.
As it's prominent from the last few post I'm a quite Ultra Magnus enjoyer, and I'm very upset at how people see him as heartless nerd. I see him as a person very damaged by the war. So here's some of my thoughts.

Ultra Magnus has a great problems with fitting in, because he forgot how to be in this kind of relationship and it's just depressing. For at least a century he has been in a war that took all his time for friends and especially family. And part of me thinks it is because Ultra Magnus is used to communication with orders. In "Evolution" we can see how he really tries to start a conversation, but all he knows now is orders and missions. And the next problem with him is he doesn't belong. He doesn't know what a family is, Wheeljack sends very clear messages that he is not welcomed to the Wreckers. Magnus felt completely isolated and this inability to make deeper connections than commander-soldier doesn't let him comprehend familial relationships. And I have some proofs.
The most important one is this line.
"The members of team prime are not cogs in a machine."
Why would Optimus use this particular line? It felt very meaningful and even as a non-english speaker, I felt it was very important for Ultra Magnus' character. So I went to Internet for the answer and I found this..

This one line opened a lot abt my boy. UM considers himself and team Prime through this war prism. "You are important, but we know how war is. Everyone can't survive. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something for a better outcome. Magnus doesn't think he's better than the rest of Team Prime, quite contrary, he holds himself by the same standards. I think Ultra Magnus sees himself as this metaphorical cog in a machine. He is important now, but if he isn't important in great scheme of things. This sounds like a very army type of mentality. He's prepared to die for a mission and sees little value in himself apart from weaponry and missions. So when Predaking had him and Wheeljack cornered he accepted it fairly quickly, yet was saddened with a thought of joining the allspark, especially with Wheeljack, whom he is to protect as his subordinate.

After Ultra Magnus wakes up, he's met with a lot of pleasant developments. Now he is fully accepted, Team Prime is by his side, and even Wheeljack drops this very meaningful line "Magnus fought like a wrecker"(=you're accepted in our group). And after finally asking OP about what was a Team Prime, he found out about a new concept, that basically breaks all his perceptions.
Family.
It isn't the army, or the elite guard where you are easily replaceable and aren't important. Now Ultra Magnus is family. And, forgive me for cliché, but you can't replace a family. They all are accepting each other and won't willingy leave someone behind for a brighter future.
I think if Ultra Magnus had more screen time his arc would be about relearning to care/connect in a deeper way and finding your own and others' importance, showcasing hardships of a soldier, trying to become more relaxed and closer to a people he knows and loves.
Or mb I just overanalyze one line¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(Also UM and OP have this so sweet bond. Former is, being as socially awkward as he is, still being honest about his feelings and asking smt he doesn't understand. And Optimus completely trusts his lieutenant with the team family and is able to see when the other's uncomfortable/sad. I dunno, they're so brothers/friends. They're very close without having much interactions on screen.)

I really like your post about Ultra Magnus and wanted to add this, Optimus calls family a human concept. Maybe that means that a relationship like that is rare for cybertronians. It’s not unheard of as we saw with Dreadwing and Skyquake, but maybe it’s something that few cybertonians find. That would make sense why Ultra Magnus didn’t understand as he is new to Earth.
You're right!
Probably it's like with spouse, super rare, yet not impossible.
Dreadwing and Skyquack are a bit different, since they're sharing a spark, but I've got your point. Mb brother/sisters rare, but familial relationship with more than one person is super rare. Especially for a soldier who spent decades in an active war/all alone at space.
I like your idea!!
(Btw thank you very much❤ I tried to make my thoughts straight for this analysis)

"Are you tired of bein' nice. Captain?"
"DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO GO APE SCRAP?"

More of this is just character practice

First pic is a spoiler for future chapters of my fic Operation Redemption. The second is me being an optiratch truer

Some practices. I think Wheeljack adores "Get Jinxed" It's his song. Dreadwing deserves more love, and I'll die on that hill.

More DW and disappointed OP. Just his b#tchy eyes.

And this is my autobot practice:D kinda proud of how all of them turned out. Smokey in particular.

Doodles. Was busy, so didn't use any references. Ultra Magnus looks more like OP tbh

Tumblr ate my last goddamn caption but it boiled down to:
Team Prime = The Nine Nine
@miss-stary-eyes every Optimus thigh I draw is dedicated to you 👌❤️

Transformers Prime Ultra Magnus from Legacy Laser Optimus Prime ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I put small reference here, so if you can find it then it means that your part of the small group of people in the fandom who knows their stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transformers Prime, Ultra Magnus belong to Hasbro and Takara This digibash belongs to me
If you are still accepting dragonformer requests, could you do tfp Ultra Magnus and Miko Nakadai?
Average conversation between the two💀

More TF:Prime Things
Pium pium, nothing more to comment on other than that I have the Headcanon of Nationalities but they dont influence anything and I only have them because it looks nice :]

First ideas for Bee and Smokes, I love them both

Ratchet and UltraMagnus Redraw?? Idk ;]

Oh no, gay people😰 (Soundwave's design without a mask is the first and I'm not very convinced, I still wanted to show it)

and my two favorite ships with typical costumes :D. Ratchet is Colombian because because in the series in Latin Spanish made me see him as a "Latina" mother AJDJ (and because Im Colombian👺💕)
And Argentine Knockout because I can. Same reason for Optimus and Breakdown :D
So what if Ratchet /died/?

*chinhands*
Considering that my Ratchet is currently dying in my thread with Pupu, it suddenly gave me an idea…
Ghost!AU.
The ghost of the deceased Autobot medic wrecks havoc during the war on Earth.
Now that Ratchet no longer needs to sleep, he will do anything to help and all kinds of shenanigans occur.
Random cube of high grade appears next to Optimus or Bumblebee out of thin air.
Some odd text appears on the monitor of the console that turns out to being a hint to where to look for the next relic (or whatever intel they happen to need in that moment).
A wrench appearing from nowhere and smacking Bulkhead directly in the helm.
Wheeljack’s high grade stash is suddenly emptying at an alarming rate and someone pasted Ultra Magnus’ head on every bot in his old issues of the Playbot.
Smokescreen comes across Ratchet’s own secret stash of porn and just before he’s about to self service to them, the lights go out, the door slams shut and the datapads all mysteriously blow up. (Poor kid’s probably forever traumatized from touching himself again.)
Odd siren noises in the middle of the night for no reason except it’s just a very unhappy and frustrated ghost with nothing to do.
If OP had hair they’d be turning grey at this point bc of the very graphic lustful dreams he starts having all of a sudden (starring Ratchet, to no-one’s surprise) and OP wakes up every morning with sore chest plates and feeling completely spent, but relaxed. He has never been more eager to go to recharge in time.
Bumblebee is sad and missing Ratchet, when suddenly he feels someone gently hugging him but no-one’s there.
For some odd reason Miko’s guitar or boombox simply refuse to work inside the silo. They work perfectly outside.
Arcee sneaks on the Nemesis and a certain ghost follows. Except he stays and infects their entire datanet like a virus. Soundwave will have a run for his money, because you can’t block a virus that isn’t /data/. Suddenly all their secrets and plans start leaking to the Autobots, and all kinds of weird shenanigans occur.
Megatron isn’t able to sleep in his quarters because glowing eyes staring at him in the corner. Whenever he does manage to sleep, it’s all nightmares of himself watching Optimus and Ratchet doing the vertical tango
Starscream starts getting anonymous love letters from a secret admirer and it is implied to be either Megatron or Soundwave. Starscream can’t decide which is more horrifying.
Knockout wakes up every day to a different graffiti decorating his plating. He still hasn’t discovered the one on his aft that says “Let’s Play Doctor”.
Something possesses Raf’s laptop and somehow the government starts receiving detailed up-to-date reports on Decepticon activity and some nicely worded threats to increase Outpost Omega-1′s funding for better equipment and resources.
If it was Ratchet fed up with everyone’s shit when alive, it’s everyone being fed up with Ratchet’s shit now
but it’s not all bad bc Megatron begged to surrender after just a couple of months bc half his crew had tried to offline themselves and Ratchet finally got his revenge

WHY. IS. THIS. NOT. A .THING.

My first drawing of TFP Ultra Magnus.

Graphite pencil drawing of TFP Ultra Magnus. I decided to make a pencil drawing of him after seeing Evolution. I kind of felt bad for him in that episode, especially after he lost his fingers to the Predaking.
