As someone who works with social history for a living, I feel like I’m the aggressive opposite of an anti-vaxxer
I fucking LOVE vaccines, friends. Give me the science stab. I’m so ready. it’s a beautiful day to not die of a Bajillion and one diseases that carried off like half the population before they had even reached age 10, and a significant portion before they made it to old age, 150 years ago
I go to the old cemetery. I see the vast numbers of infant and child and young adult graves. And then I go to my doctor and get injected with Potion of Fuck That Noise. This is beautiful and miraculous and I do not remotely understand how some people can reject it – not just for themselves, but for their children
sorry if i’m being a party pooper but because rabies is apparently the new joke on here ??? please remember that rabies has an almost 100% fatality rate after symptoms develop so if you’re bitten or scratched by an animal that you aren’t 100% sure is vaccinated then GO TO A DOCTOR. it’s not a joke. really.

I just met a mother of an autistic child who thinks vaccines cause autism but is still pro-vaccine. Didn't know ppl like her existed tbh

I'd like to add that, death rates aside, many of the diseases we vaccinate against can often cause long term or permanent disability! Many of them (like whooping cough) are only extremely unpleasant for most adults, but are extremely dangerous for infants.
On top of that, just like everything else, vaccines are not 100% effective! Herd immunity is when a large enough % of the population is immunized that those who cannot/have not be inoculated, or for who the vaccine did not work, are still safe. Being vaccinated protects you, and those around you. People who cannot be vaccinated rely on you for their safety!

Wait wait was no one going to tell me that antivaxxers are possibly appropriating a TERF's fictional racial slur to refer to vaccinated people?? And that's the most GENEROUS interpretation???
My first thought was “It’s not a hobby because I’m not doing anything” but then I was like A) What a narrow view of hobbies and B) I totally am. I’m trying my body to fight by giving it tiny can barely fight opponents before making it fight progressively stronger opponents. It’s pretty much video game levelling system but it’s so idle I don’t know I’m doing it. My new favourite hobby.

I'm autistic, and vaccinated.
I was autistic before I was vaccinated. I was autistic before I got my MMR vaccination.
I am autistic.
I am vaccinated.
They're two very different things.
I get vaccinated for my health, and for other's health.
I'm autistic because I was born with it.
For the last time, autism is not caused by a vaccination; if you're autistic, you're born with it.
And the academic paper that was published that cites that vaccines cause autism has been proven time and time again to be false - and the person who published it (Andrew Wakefield) has been discredited and deregistered
