vivid bad squad . . . ăăăăš
Opening your eyes in the Sekai , you were met with mugs filled with hot cocoa and marshmallows , candy canes , chocolate covered pretzel sticks , and the smell of christmas spirit ~ !
" Okay, okay. My turn to open my Secret Santa gift! " An said , hastily grabbing her present as Kohane giggled and Toya smiled , with Akito zooming in on her face with a camera .
As she unboxed her gift , she held up a gigantic mug , examining it with owlish eyes , turning it around to see her name imprinted on it .
" Ooh~! This is actually really cool-! Who got me this? "
Kohane began to giggle as An beamed at her .
" That'd have to be me. I was a little unsure of what to get for you, so I'm glad you like it! " Kohane replied, softly clapping her hands .
Akito soon reached for the circular shaped present with his name on it , looking up at everyone .
" Alright, I'll go next. This better not be something stupid. "
The second he began to unwrap his gift , everyone was waiting in anticipation for what it could be .
Akito's eyebrows raised before he smiled , raising up the different types of cheesecake on a platter .
" Hey, not bad! Not disappointed one bit. "
An began to giggle , making a fist pump .
" You can never go wrong in giving him cheesecake. Its an assured positive reaction. " She shrugged as Akito playfilly rolled his eyes .
Kohane gave a close-eyed smile , gesturing toward the 2 presents sitting on the table .
" You go ahead Toya! " " Oh, thank you. "
Toya picked up his present and brought it in his lap , shaking it and feeling something slightly heavy inside , quickly glancing at his bandmates .
" Dont shake it silly! It might give away whats inside~! "
Toya smiled , shaking his head before silently unwrapping his gift , bringing out a book with bookmarks to highlight page numbers .
" Thats the book you've been mentioning you wanted to read, right? You always ask me what I think about certain pages and lines, so I highlighted my favorite parts. Whats the word-.. annotating, was it? I did that. "
Toya nodded , smiling gratefully . " You're right. I have been wanting to read this. This is-.. really kind, Akito. Thank you. The annotations are a nice touch. I appreciate it. "
Akito smiled and nodded in acknowledgement as Kohane piped up .
" Oh! So this means Toya got my gift! Lets see-.. oh! It feels warm. "
Kohane smiled , picking up her present and unwrapping it , a familiar aroma radiating off of it .
" This smells like-.. "
She opens her box to reveal newly made peach buns .
" I love peach buns! I cant wait to savor these~! Thank you so much, Toya! " " Im glad you can enjoy them. "
The rest of the night were full of games , shouting christmas songs , and lots , lots , and lots of christmas joy .

" merry christmas to all ~ . . and to all , a good night . "
and how convenient ! !

My first PJSK fanfic! Sour Droplets!
This is my 1st fanfic of Pjsk, which means itâs also my first time writing about VBS! This event story is supposed to happen after the Kohane focus story, âOn Your Feetâ. If you havenât read a bit before that, there may be some spoilers for previous events, or things wonât make sense.
As events do, Iâll be making my own Pjsk cards and event titles! Note that the fanfic and event are called something completely different so I can distinguish between the two (the event is called Melody of Infinite Horizons.) But in fact, this event has a song too! Itâs a j-pop song called Lemon by Kenshi Yonezu, and I would definitely recommend giving it a listen.
And with all that stuff said, I hope you enjoy the story!
Ps: Orange is the closest thing I could get to yellow. đ
[Chapter 1 - Time Takes its Course]
An stood there, eyes wide as she was frozen in place. She clutched her shirt tightly and her eyes welled up with tears.Â
Laying in front of her was Aunt Nagis grave, a mound of unmarked dirt. The city had been so determined to not let An know about Nagis death that they didnât do the bare courtesy of marking her grave. However everyone had know about Nagis death. Everyone, except An.
The single lily An had brought slipped out of her hand, falling on to the ground.
And with that, came the tears.
Sitting in front of the grave, An let her tears roll down her face as she let out a wail of despair. Aunt Nagi was gone - never to come back.Â
As the grass poked at her legs, Anâs vision became blurry. She knew sheâd never forget Nagi, but it was still hard to live life without her. To go through her day to day routines without her aunt there to guide her.
Sometimes An still thought about her too. Her gentle smile, her flowing hairâŚ
As if on cue, memories of her and Nagi began flashing through her head. For Nagi had been there during Anâs lowest lows and her highest highs. The thought that she wouldnât be there for her and by her side anymoreâŚ
All of a sudden Anâs heart started to race, and she felt immense pressure everywhere on her skin, alike to the sensation of walls closing in. She felt lightheaded and began to hyperventilate as she gripped at her chest. An couldnât take it anymore, she knew she had to get out of here.
So with her blurry vision, she began to run away from the grave, leaving the lily at the base of it. The grief was to suffocating to stay there, so An ran. She ran even though she didnât know where she was going, she just needed to escape. But there would be no running from the desperation that clawed at her heart. The pure, raw feeling that demanded to be unleashed.
The night didnât help Anâs vision, instead helping the colors in her vision blend smoothly, as if they were melting into each other. She ran and ran and ran and ran and ran until she couldnât even tell what was around her. Sheâs topped and put her hands on her knees, gasping for breath. Sure, she practiced staying in shape with Kohane and the others, but the training she had done couldnât hold a candle to running around aimlessly.
A feeling of hopelessness gripped An again and she knew she had to keep running. Not only to get away from this place, but to head home. If she wasnât home soon, her father would likely worry. I mean, she couldnât have been running for less than a hour, but under the blanket of stars telling time was like trying to do open heart surgery with a hammer - impossible. Nevertheless, she had to get home, and maybe calm down with a cup of hot tea after her arrival.
So An stood up and began to spur her legs forward, intending to run home even though she was still suffering from the remnants of her panic attack. But no matter how screwed her vision was, An could see the ground getting rapidly closer to her face. And the pure, pitch black color of darkness as it enveloped her vision, snuffing out the light of the moonlight above her.
Chapter Two of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 2 - A Helpful Friend?]
When An woke up, she wasnât laying sprawled out on the cold hard sidewalk like she thought she would be. Instead, she was laying on top of a blanket that was covering the mattress under her. Her head was delicately placed on a pillow near the back of the bed, and the room she was in was immersed in darkness.Â
However two sounds continually rang through the room. The click of a mouse and the clack-clack of a keyboard. Â
An craned her kneck upwards to look towards the sound, her eyes straining through the darkness. There, in front of her, was a girl with blueish-white hair that went a bit past of her waist, seemingly composing a song at her computer.
The bright screen reflected in her blue eyes, and her fringe was tucked to both sides, save for a long section in the middle. However a few seconds after An caught a glimpse of the anonymous girl, she turned to face An, her blue eyes softening.
âAh, youâre awake.â She said, her soft and sweet voice flowing together like honey. âHow are you feeling?â
The girls voice was full of concern, but An couldnât help but feel embarrassed that a completely stranger had found her in one of her most vulnerable moments, even if she was unconscious.
âYeah Iâm fine.â An rushed, wanting to leave as soon as possible. âSorry for troubling you, Iâll just-.â An stood up off the bed and found herself crumpling to the ground in pain, causing the girl to quickly jump out of her seat and rush over, helping An into the bed again.
âAre you alright?â The girl asked again, the worry evident in her eyes. âWhen I found you, you looked like you were in a lot of pain, so you should probably take it easy.â The girl stood up after An was back to laying on the sheets. âIâm going to go grab you a glass of water, Iâll be back in a second.â
An just watched her go, unable to move herself as she hugged her legs to her chest and buried her face in her knees. Now that she was awake thanks to her fall to the floor, she could roughly feel the pain she was in. Of course she was still feeling sleepy and a bit disoriented from waking up in a new place after passing out, so that was likely numbing some of the pain as a result.Â
Speaking of passing out, how long did she really sleep? The curtains in the room were closed, ensuring that no light would get in, which An was thankful for. She felt like she wanted to cry as her throat became scratchy and raw with tears pricking at her eyes. After all, she was in so much mental pain, whyâd she have to suffer phyiscal pain too? She was a good person, it wasnât fair!
And she hated being a burden to others. Having people pick up her slack like the anonymous girl that was taking care of her just wasnt something she wanted others to do. She wanted to get good on her own, and it wasnât fair to make others deal with her excess.
She hugged her legs closer to her, her heart aching.
It was a marvel that the girl had heard An move at all. After all, An had only moved her head slightly and somehow the girl had heard her, which took An by surprise. To have your ears be that sensitive to sound⌠An just couldnât fathom it. And the girl seemed to gracefully move throughout her room like she memorized the layout, which likely meant she spent most of her time in her room.
The thought alone made An shiver. She couldnât imagine sitting in her room alone for that along in the dark, much less the strain on her eyes. At this point An couldnât tell if she was amazed by the girls situation, or if she was scared of her stay-in-her-room talents.
Soon though, the girl re-appeared, a glass of cold water in her hands. An couldnât lie, the cup looked enticing. After all, she had sweated most of the fluid out of her body by sweating on her aimless run, and it was clear her body was demanding to be replenished.
âHere, take this.â The girl handed An the clear glass of water which she accepted greatfully. âYou lost a lot of fluid while you were asleep, and I wasnât able to replenish any of it. So I thought Iâd hydrate you while youâre awake.â
An just nodded, wanting to ask so many questions. Where was she? How long had she slept? But all she could manage from her parched chapped lips and dry scratchy throat wasâŚ
âWhatâs your name?â
The girl smiled as An drank the cold water, the liquid sliding down her grateful throat.
âIâm Kanade.â
Chapter 3 of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 3 - A cold glass of water]
âKanade huh? Thatâs a nice name.â An replied, her lips pursing into a smile.
âThank you, my parents chose that name for me before I was born.â Kanade responded, giving her name a bit more context. âWhatâs yours?â
An realized that her name meant to âplay musicâ or âpreformâ. It rose several more questions in her head, but she just settled on giving Kanade her name.
âIâm An. An Shirashi.â She replied, putting her cup on top of a canned cup of ramen sitting in an open cardboard box. âThank you for bringing me here, Iâm sorry you have to take care of me like this.â
Kanade shook her head, her hair swaying to both sides. âPlease donât apologize Mrs. An.â She replied, acting formal. âYou were unconscious and injured on the ground, anyone wouldâve done the same.â
An smiled faintly at her kindness, feeling her heart soothe from the warmth. However she couldnât help but think about Kanadeâs words. Would anyone else really have done the same?
âWell thank you anyway Mrs. Kanade.â An replied as the air conditioner buzzed in the background, chilling the room. It was obvious Kanade had it on constantly so sheâd be at the right temperature, since she was also wearing sweats to counteract the chill.
âItâs my pleasure.â Kanadeâs calm voice responded as if it was covered in silk. âBut thereâs no need to you such formalities with me, you can just call me Kanade.â
An felt it was interesting that Kanade was warming up to her so fast, but maybe she didnât interact with others much, so she was just eager to make friends. However even though An had likely been awake and resting in this room for around 5 minutes, she knew nothing about it aside from the boxes of ramen in front of the bed. So feeling curious An let her eyes drift, observing the room. And it wasnât long before her eyes landed in the keyboard set up infront of the closed curtains.
ââŚHey Kanade, do you make music?â An couldnât help but ask, catching Kanade off guard.
Soon though Kanade regained her composure and responded in that usual tranquil voice of hers. âYes I do.â Kanade answered, even though An wouldnât have believed her if she had said no. âHowever Iâm stuck on the melody of one of my songs. Would you mind listening to it?â
An couldnât help but feel her curiosity grow at the idea of one of Kanadeâs tracks. She seemed so inexpressive and introverted that it gave off an aura that she worked under an alias.
âSure I donât mind, I work with music all the time. Iâm sure I can help you figure something out.â An responded, feeling Deja-vue from when Toya wrote Hollow.
In response Kanade just softly smiled. âOh you do? Thatâs great.â She said, moving over to her computer set-up pressed against her left bedroom wall. âIâve been working on this song for a while now, but the melody always seems a bit off. Iâve tried refining the guitar and heightening the pitch but it always seems like somethingâs missingâŚâ Kanade trailed off as if she didnât know what to say, then clicked the play button with her mouse.
And as the graceful song flowed through Kanadeâs attached speakers, Anâs eyes widened.
This song!!!
Chapter 4 of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 4 - Mirror-Image]
As An listened to the song, it seemed to grip her very heart.Â
The gentle piano was accompanied by a sweet music box, and the guitar that Kanade added seemed to play a sentiment that shook her very soul. There was no lyrics added yet, but it was already a touching song, even if An didnât really listen to this type of music. It was so impactful that of felt like she was right next to Kanade, listening to the song right there.
Soon though, Kanade clicked on her mouse again, pausing the song. She turned to look at An, her eyes full of concern.
âAre you alright An?â
With that question An snapped out of her trance and realized that, without paying attention, tears pricked at the corner of her eyes. And every time she blinked to get rid of them, two more teardrops would appear in their place. Was she⌠crying? Why?
An knew that if she said anything, there was no doubt sheâd break down in tears. So she did one thing.
âAunt NagiâŚ!â She wailed, not entirely sure why. She began sobbing, using what meager energy she had left to squeeze tears out of her eyes.Â
Kanadeâs eyes widen in surprise but she didnât say anything. Instead, she walked over and silently put her hand on Anâs back. She wasnât trying to get An to shush, or interrupt her crying. It was her way of showing An that she was here, even though she was crying in front of someone she had just met today.
It took a while for the sorrow that eclipsed Anâs body to leave, but when it did she allowed herself to slump onto the bed, her eyes red. Kanade just stayed silent until she smiled softly, the corners or her lips perking upwards.
âI think I know what to add to my song now.â Kanade said, breaking the silence and snapping An out of her trance that her misery put her in. Yet the sentence only served to confuse her, causing her eyebrows to furrow.
âYou.. you do?â An asked, the emotional thorn in her mind reminding her of Nagi seemingly a little duller now. âBut I.. I.. I didnât even help you.â
Kanade just continued to smile with a tinge of sadness in her eyes, and Anâs heart broke. For her to act so mature like this⌠like she knew what to do⌠she mustâve been through this kind of pain a lot.
Kanade shook her head, clearly disagreeing. âYou actually helped me a lot An. It was through you that I was able to feel your pain, and reach deep in the depths to make my melody.â
Feel my pain? An silently repeated to herself, pondering the meaning. But meanwhile, Kanade continued.
âI can tell youâve got a lot of pain on your shoulders, and if I can ever ease the ache youâre free to come over.â Kanade promised, her words bearing a silent weight to them. âBut right now you should rest. With the state your fragile body is in you could be vulnerable to getting a cold. We can talk more when you wake up.â
As if flipping a switch that sentence made An realize how tired she was. She had cried and talked until her eyelids felt unimaginabley heavy.Â
So as a yawn battled its way up her throat she just nodded to Kanade, who smiled in response and sat in her chair by the computer. It was clear Kanade was going to compose more music as An slept, and she wondered if sheâd ever hear a song such as emotion-stirring as that one again.Â
Speaking of âthat oneâ, did that song even have a nameâŚ?
An wanted to ask, but the murky fog that held her brain captive was making her unbelievably sleepy. So she made a mental note to ask, before laying down and closing her eyes as her head rested on the pillow. And it wasnât long before sleep took her, painting her vision an abyss-black.
Chapter 5 of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 5 - Unamed Melody X]
An wasnât sure if she could classify her dream as a âdreamâ, or an unpleasant nightmare. She was awake enough to remember part of it, and even though it wasnât Kanadeâs song, her was still as emotion-stirring as the heart-gripping melody that made her cry. For An had dreamt of being hugged by Nagi in her sleep, something she really missed her doing.
And when An woke up she felt more rested than before, but her heart was throbbing with pain that seemed to be vying for her attention. However she ignored it, instead pulling out her phone to text her dad that she was alright, while the faint clicking of a mouse could be heard in the background.Â
Yet as she glanced at the screen in her hand, she could see that it was riddled with cracks, making her inwardly curse at herself. It had probably gotten damaged when she fell, meaning that not only could she not text anyone, but that her dad would have to buy her a new phone. She felt her frustration boil inside of her. Why did she have to continue causing trouble for other people?Â
An exhaled a deep breath out of her nose, her anger feeling like it was gripping her heart.Â
However, this attracted Kanadeâs attention, which was evident when she turned her head to look at An.
âOh youâre awake again? How do you feel?â Kanade asked, the ends of her hair resting in the seat of her chair.
âMmgh.. how long have I slept?â An asked, putting her phone away and rubbing her eyes.
âWell its August 27 2024âŚâ Kanade started, her hands in her lap now.
ââŚ!â An sucked in a breath.Â
She had visited Aunt Nagis grave on the 25th before passing out, which likely means when she woke up again that it was the 26th. Then, she fell asleep again and woke up on the 27th, which meant she had been away from home for three days!
An opened her mouth, about to apologize and head home when her stomach spoke for her, letting out a growl that demanded sustenance.Â
âI apologize An. I was so concerned about how you felt I didnât get an opportunity to grab something for you to eat.â Kanade apologized, her gaze softening. âI donât have much, but would you like to eat some minute ramen? I apologize I donât have something else to offer you, but thatâs all I have.â
An didnât have ramen a lot, but the idea of eating something warm was too tempting to resist, even though sheâd been sleeping on a warm bed for all this time.
âYes pleaseâŚâ Was all An could manage and Kanade just grabbed one of her many unopened cups of ramen around the room and left, closing the door behind her as she went to heat up the ramen.
As bad as An felt for making Kanade do all of this, her heart warmed at the girls kindness. She knew that after this, she was definitely indebted to Kanade now, especially since An had cried infront of her. She new she had been a bother it Kanade, but she couldnât help but find a part of her wanting to be friends with the introverted girl. She didnât just want to leave someone who had done this much for her behind and forget about her, she wanted to keep in touch and somehow repay Kanade with the same generosity she showed her.
It didnât take long for Kanade to come back in with the ramen, containing a shiny silver fork. She handed it to An who accepted it with a grateful smile before she sat down at her desk chair again, continuing to work on her song.
An was surprised that Kanade hadnât asked about her mental breakdown, or why she seemed so mopey. But at the same time she was glad that Kanade hadnât pushed it, as that would likely only have made things worse. Still, a part of An felt compelled to tell her. Even though she was basically a complete stranger An met barely three days ago.Â
An wrapped her hands around the cup and stared into the murky water as it warmed her hands. Finally, after a moment, she had gained enough courage and broke the silence.
âHey Kanade⌠can I tell you something?â
âHm?â
And that was all it took for An to start confessing. She was surprised that a part of her had stirred her onwards to this moment. After all she had Kohane and everyone to support her right? So why did she feel so⌠so⌠so hopeless and alone?
But Kanade listened to her story quietly, managing eye contact with An the whole time to show that she was listening.Â
âI think I understand the pain youâre going through.â Kanade said after An finished, surprising her.
Unexpected Kindness

Chapter 6 of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 6 - Coming To Terms]
âHuh?â An asked, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. âWhat do you mean?â
Kanade just smiled softly in reply, however this time with a twinge of pain on her face. âMy mom died from an illness when I was young, and my dad is still in care at the hospital, slowly recovering from his memory problems.âÂ
Anâs eyes dilated in surprise as she listened, not quite believing what she was hearing. How could a girl that looked like she was 17 go through so much pain? An couldnât imagine being in her shoes and going through all that pain, even if she had all of her supports she did now.
âBut what matters is the fact you can go beyond.â
âGo.. beyond?â An echoed, confused.
âEven though theyâre not here right now, you can still carry on their dream.â Kanade stated, smiling softly even though the pain in her eyes were more visible now. âTo carry on their will and go to places that would make them proud.â
Despite the darkness in the room, the feelings being conveyed were crisp and clear. Slicing into Anâs feelings like a sharp knife. And before she knew, tears were falling from here eyes once again.
âSometimes when I think about my parents, I feel a sharp pain stabbing my heart. Like someoneâs ringing out a soggy cloth.â Kanade continued as Anâs tears continued to make trails down her cheek as one after the other continued to fall. âAnd it makes me want to break down and cry. To hide under the covers and never climb out again, but thatâs ok. Itâs ok to feel these emotions and to express them to people you know. For the only way to grow with pain is to experience it, or to go through it, growing with it as it grows with you.â
This advice was none like An had ever heard before. Sure if you googled âhow to come to terms with deathâ youâd get something like âAccept it and live knowing that it's coming and there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to stop it.â Which was a piece of advice that could help some people, but wasnât what An wanted to hear. Yet the maturity reflected in Kanadeâs voice⌠the honesty⌠It seemed to envelop Anâs heart in a warm blanket, despite the aching topic they were talking about.
Despite the subtle throb of Anâs heart, she managed a weak smile as she let her tears drip down her face. âThank you Kanade.â
âNo thereâs no need to thank me Mrs. An.â Kanade responded, making An laugh inside at how quickly she returned to formalities. âYouâve braved through the pain and came to a decision yourself, I played no part in that.â
An just continued to smile, knowing that if she continued to be kind that Kanade would just deflect somehow, and give An more credit than due. So instead, An tried a different approach.
âHey Kanade.â
âHm?â
âWhatâs your phone number?â
Chapter 7 of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 7 - Uniting Consequences]
An waved bye to Kanade who was standing by the door of her house. The birds continued to chirp over head, flying under the clouds that dotted the sky as the sun shined down on An. It was a beautiful day despite it being August 28, marking her official fourth, and last day away from home.
Kanade and An exchanged phone numbers, a testimony to the bond they had made over the meager three days they had. Instead of giving Kanade Anâs original phone number, she gave her her dadâs, since her phone was broken and she also needed a way to get ahold of her father to tell her she was ok.
So after An was done listing off the numbers of her dads phone number, Kanade sent him a message to which he instantly responded, glad that he knew where An was. They explained everything that happened (except the emotional parts) and Anâs dad offered to come get her, but after An tried to stand and found that she could, she knew she wanted to make the journey home herself.
So after she headed into the kitchen and refused Kanadeâs offer for breakfast, they said their goodbyes and An headed out the door. However Kanade still waved goodbye with her trademark gentle smile on her face, making Anâs heart swell with warmth. They both had connected on a deeper level despite the awkward way they had met, and An knew that Kanade now held a spot close to her heart.Â
So as An walked home, she wondered how she could show her appreciation to her new friend. Should she buy her a gift? No⌠Kanade likely wouldnât accept it, and feel bad that An spent money on her. Should she pick some flowers for her? No.. it didnât seem like Kanade would have time to take care of them.Â
And so Anâs back and forth in her brain continued, her feet taking her home as her brain continued to debate on ideas. Before she knew it though, she was in front of her dads cafe, and pushing the door open. The bell attached to the door rang as she stepped into the air conditioned atmosphere of the building. The place was empty except for the four people at the counter and of course, her dad, behind the counter.
However it was easy to tell who everyone was at that counter. For the girl near the door had a shade of sandy blonde hair that An had practically memorized, and it was easy to tell who the other were from their short orange hair and the split light and dark blue hair. Kohane, Akito, and Toya were all here, waiting for her.
Despite how worried they all must be, An couldnât help but smile, their concern touching her heart. She couldnât even begin to imagine how her disappearance had impacted all of them, especially since she had stayed out of touch with them for four days. Yet they still came to her dads cafe and waited for her return, clearly anxious in the silence that echoed around the room.Â
An felt like she had to apologize, but before the word could come out of her mouth Kohane was the first to turn her head, her light brown eyes looking at An wide with concern.
âAn-Chan!â She yelled, causing everyone else to look her way.
Akitoâs face clearly possessed several wrinkles that had imprinted on his skin from all the worrying he had done, but Toya just smiled gently, his gray eyes shining under the fluorescent lights.
âWelcome back Shirashi.â He greeted, his sharp eyes conveying a sense of warmth.
âOi oi Shirashi where were you? You made us worry.â Akito said, his tsundere demeanor showing through. Though An had to hold in a laugh when she saw Toya elbow him, causing Akitoâs face to melt into a smile. â-Urk! But weâre glad youâre here An.â
Anâs lips turned upwards into a grin. Just as quickly as the silence had settled, her partners had broke it, which was quite characteristic for them. They never were ones to be quiet, but the relief on their faces said enough for them.
âAnâŚ! Iâm so glad youâre safe.â Looking upwards, An could see her dad frozen in place and staring at her while he held a glass and cloth in hand.
Instantly a smile of relief and despair broke out across Anâs face. She may not have Nagi anymore, but she had her dad. And god had she missed him.
Instantly An put one foot in front of the other, rushing forward. One of the things she loved about her dad was the warmth he provided, the bond they shared. And she had certainly missed that.
But as she ran behind the counter and wrapped her arms around him Iâm a tight hug, she let out a contented sigh. As her dad wrapped her arms around she let herself smile, the corners of her lips curling upwards as she let herself be embraced by that familiar warmth again. For now she was home, in the place closest to her heart.
Chapter 8 of Sour Droplets!
[Chapter 8 - Reconcile]
âHaha, you shouldâve seen how worried these three were for you.â Anâs dad laughed as Akitoâs face smirked.
âYeah, you shouldâve seen Kohane.â Akito said with a laugh. âShe wouldnât stop calling you, even though Toya and I told her that you werenât picking up calls.âÂ
In response to Akitoâs usual teasing, Kohaneâs face flushed from embarrassment, but all An could do was laugh, the mug of hot tea she was holding warming her hands.
âAnd when we heard that Ken had gotten a text from a random number promising you were alright, we could hardly believe it.â Toya said as the plate of warm biscuits and gravy infront of An continued steaming. âWe rushed here to wait with our nerves fried, and weâve been here ever since.âÂ
An felt a sense of Deja-vu as she stared in the brown reflective liquid contained in her white mug. Her disappearance was just like when she ran and hid in the construction site. Her dad was so worried then too⌠but NagiâŚ
âIâm sorry I made you all worry so much.â An said, her face reflected in the mint tea. âBut thank you all for looking for me.â
âAn-ChanâŚâ Kohane trailed off, her face full of worry. An was confused at her concern until she realized she had her fingers tightened around her teacup. Knowing their relationships, it likely wouldnât be long before they found out everything that happened.
âSpeaking of, who was that unknown contact that your dad mentioned?â Toya asked, changing the topic after sensing Anâs discomfort.
âYeah⌠was it like, a friend of yours or something?â Akito asked, following up.
And just like the crescendo moment of a concert, An ended up telling them everything that happened, bring the suspense that had somehow built up crashing down. By the time she finished, her hot tea had cooled enough for her to drink it, so she took a sip and began eating her breakfast.
âSo thatâs where you wereâŚâ Akito said, gritting his teeth. He likely was angry at himself that he wasnât there for her in her pain, but he couldnât blame himself. No one could. After all, An hadnât told anyone but her dad that she was going to visit Nagi-sanâs grave.
âYou know you can rely on us, right Shirashi?â Toya asked, his left hand over his chest.
An took a bite of her food, the leftover warmth flooding her mouth. âI know, but I was hoping if I could hide all of me feelings, I wouldnât feel that hurt anymore. That sadness.â She stared down at the black plate, holding her silver fork in her right hand. âI know that pain and growth are part of human growth, but.. I canât stop thinking about her. She was everything I wanted to be and more. But now sheâs gone yet this pain in my heart resides.â As An talked she felt her heart start to throb with pain slowly, and she knew that likely the more she talked about what she went through, the more suffocating the pain would feel. But she still pressed onwards.
âBut I donât want to keep hurting and I especially donât want you guys to have to pick up the excess I leave behind.â An admitted, taking a sip of her tea and feeling the liquid sliding down her throat. âIf I bring down the team because my lack of progressâŚâ She trailed off, not exactly knowing what to say.Â
âWhat are you talking about?â Ken asked, drawing Anâs attention. âYou were the one who made your group right? Thereâs a reason everyone here has pretty much nominated you as the leader. Itâs your fiery determination and aspirations that spur you guys onward, paving a brand new world ahead for you.â
Talking about her goal to surpass RAD WEEKEND made An think about Kanadeâs words again. Go beyond⌠She silently repeated to herself. But could she really? It was a night based on such an intense feeling⌠and it felt like surpassing that night would just be disrespecting Nagi.Â
âMhm!â Kohane continued, her bright eyes sparkling with determination. âI know that sometimes youâre worried about falling behind me, but honestly, youâre my idol!â Anâs eyes widened in surprise, caught off guard by the words that came from Kohaneâs mouth. âYou give me a thing to aspire to be. A goal for me. And for me, itâs more about my growth and not beating you. Without you here, Iâd never be the person I am today!âÂ
Kohane grabbed Anâs hand and her heart started to race. Despite it being just a touch, she could feel the intense passion and feeling that Kohane was passing on to her. It was an expression of desperation, as she tried to link their shared feelings.
âAnd it was you that helped me break out of my dadâs expectations.â Toya mentioned, his eyes filled with a warmth alike to Kanadeâs. âWithout you Iâd be spending much more sleepless nights next to the piano.â
âAnd for you, youâve touched more hearts than you could imagine.â Akito vocalized, his voice firm. âI donât think I share another bond with someone else thatâs as strong as yours, and thatâs helped me through so many moments. Overall, none of us could be here without you. Youâre just as important as every single one of us.â
An smiled, her eyes watering as happy tears pricked at the base of her eyes. âYou guysâŚâ She murmured quietly, the words softly rumbling her throat.
âSorry to interrupt,â Anâs dad spoke up, handing her his phone. âBut youâve got a message.â
She took the phone from him, wondering who had texted her. Though as soon as she looked at the screen, a smile quickly broke out against her face.
âI think I know what weâre doing for our next event.â

A/N:
Sorry for not posting for a while! Iâm still here, donât worry just really busy in life! (Thereâs one more chapter left after this.)
Introducing⌠our Akito Shinonome card!

The title of this card is âThunderous Applauseâ, and is our three star card for this event! This is the scene where heâs singing in the last chapter, and I tried to dim the background characters so you can tell that heâs the one to focus on, along with me putting him in the front. Anyway, hereâs his talent for this card!:
80% score boost for 5 seconds.
Last Project Sekai Card for my Event!

I was a bit hesitant to give Kohane another four star card because she just had a focus event in the English version of Project Sekai, but in the end she ended up becoming a four star card which I titled âA friends relief!â Itâs a card that makes Toya look taller than An and Akito, but thatâs just because of Gacha Life 2s layering system based on their scale and position. I really want them to fix it soon, especially since this is an issue in their other apps too. However letâs get back on track and reveal her skill for this event card, which is:
Recover 450 life; 90% score boost for 5 seconds.
