Whumpril Day 21: Scars/Fracture
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Summary: Obi-wan and Maul see each other again. It wouldn't end well.
Obi-wan knew he couldn't outrun Maul forever. Anger was hard to hide from. Now the Jedi ran through the woods; his robes catching on briers. He tripped over a tree root and fell.
Kenobi's ankle had gotten stuck under the roof. Panicked he pulled at it but it wouldn't budge. "No, no, no" he whispered. With the frantic pulling he broke his ankle, but it was free. He yelled from the pain.
Maul closed in. Obi-wan tried to stand but fell back to the ground. Tears flowed down his face. He was tired.
When Maul arrived, Obi-wan readied himself to try to fight. As much as he wanted to just give up, to just stop fighting, he wouldn't; he couldn't.
"This should be fun" Maul hissed. Obi-wan didn't get a chance to fight back. Maul held him down with the force. He laid there in the dark woods as the Zabrak tore at his skin. He didn't use his lightsaber or a knife; but instead his talents.
Kenobi was helpless. Never before had he felt so much physical pain. He wished for it to be over. Death would be kinder to him and when Maul left his body in the woods the animals would treat him better.
Anakin had sensed his brother's panic and had already been looking for him when the sudden rush of pain flooded his mind. Now he ran faster then he thought he could. He couldn't let Obi-wan down.
As time passes Anakin could feel the hopelessness spread in his masters mind. Horse screaming came into earshot and the man used that to locate the other. He skidded to a stop and drew his lightsaber, "hey Maul!"
Darth Maul removed his talents from Obi-wan's skin and stood. "Hello Skywalker."
Anakin rushed Maul. The two's lightsabers clashed. Obi-wan tried to move but pain kept him in place. The younger of the Jedi position himself between the enemies. In the end Maul would be forced to retreat.
"Obi-wan" Anakin swiftly moved over from the injured jedi. Obi-wan tried to give an answer but couldn't. Then the world went black.
It had been a few months since this had happened. The scars that littered his body terrified him. Obi-wan couldn't look in the mirror much anymore. Basic things like changing and showering was difficult when he avoided looking at himself. He grew slightly distant from his loved ones. In his eyes the scars made him unattractive and revolting.
Cody had the combination too Obi-wan's door. It may have been early morning but his general was always up already so he just wanted to make sure he was okay. At this point neither of them saw a point in the commander knocking so he didn't.
The door slid open. Inside Obi-wan sat at the end of his bed, still in a pair of Cody's blacks in which he wore to sleep. "Hey, are you okay? You're normal up already."
"Yeah" Obi-wan answered coldly.
Cody walked over to the bed and sat beside him. "What's going on?"
After a little bit of dancing around the problem, Obi-wan finally opened up. "I just don't like looking at them."
Cody looked puzzled.
"The scars, Cody" Obi-wan sighed."I feel disgusting. I hate them."
Cody moved his hands to grasp the others, "But you survived and those scars prove it. They tell a story of a strong man who lived. Scars or not, you have always been beautiful." Cody cuffed his lover's face, "okay?"
Obi-wan paused. "I'll try to see it that way. You always know just what to say."
"Thanks. Now, you get dressed and we'll go get some breakfast?"
"Okay." After a moment to mentally prepare himself, the Jedi would undress and then dress for the day. The two would head down for breakfast and then go about their day. For the first time that night Obi-wan showered with the lights on. If Cody could still love him, even with every scar, then maybe he could find a way to love himself again the way he once had. For the first time in a while Obi-wan knew everything was going to be okay.
Whumpril Day 22: "Let's Get You Cleaned Up."
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Note: Ah okay so I did my best. Enjoy.
Warning: Minor Character Death
Summary: Rex holds one of his men while they die.
Rex hated losing his brothers. However it was part of the war. It was unfair and cruel but that's why they were made right? To fight and die for the Republic?
The Captain sat with one of his men for the last time. The shiny didn't even have a name yet. However the man's armor was no longer shiny, now it was covered in blood. The blasters and explosions were deafening.
"Captain?" the unnamed clone coughed.
Rex looked down at his feet. There laid one of his men. "Soldier." Rex dropped to the ground. He removed his helmet to get a better look at the man. "Medic!" he yelled. But the request went unheard.
"Captain, I'm scared."
"You'll be okay."
The clone slightly sat up and grabbed Rex by his head, his thumb right before the others ear. "Is this it?"
"No, no it's not. You'll be okay." Tears gathered in his eyes.
Without another word his brother died. His hand slipped from Rex's face, leaving a blood trail. There was nothing he could do. He never got used to it; the blood, the noise, the death. It felt surreal. Rex shakily placed his helmet back on and continued to fight.
Later he would greet Anakin at the end of the fight. The only blood on Rex was his face and hands so the general had no idea anything was wrong. The soldiers helped Kix wherever they could.
Rex took his helmet off for the same reason he had taken off before. Anakin took note and waited till time was right. He walked over to him and said, "Let's get you cleaned up."
"Huh?" Rex looked at him, "no, I'm okay. I'll take care of it."
"No come here." Anakin grabbed his Captain's hand and went to find a damp cloth. Rex protested but gave up as Anakin rested the cloth of his skin. It felt nice.
The Jedi gently held his brother's face still with his other hand. He ran the cloth over the blood and lightly scrubbed it.
Rex just sort of stared at Anakin. It felt nice to have someone take care of him for once. He was so used to taking care of everyone else that this took him by surprise.
"How's that? It stained, there's nothing I could do about that, sorry." Without another word Anakin grabbed Rex's gloves and cleaned his hands next. Then he switched the clones for his. "There. Get some rest, you need it."
Everything together made Rex tear up. It was nice to feel loved and taken care of.
Whumpril Day 23: Smoke
Fandom: Star Wars The Bad Batch
Earning: Major character death
Summary: Hunter hears a noise that the other batch members can't and he makes a risky move because of it.
Nothing good ever happens with old, decrepit, abandoned buildings. Today was no exception. The Bad Batch had been given a mission for Cid and they intended to get it right. The street was lined with strange sights; old buildings and some metal fence around some one of the taller buildings.
As the five walked down the street they looked around unsure. The smell of smoke lingered. The structure at the end of the street, the one with the fence around it was certainly on fire. The flames rose but the batch never gave any mind to it; they didn't need that building, so why should they care?
The smoke overwhelmed Hunter's mind. It was all he could smell. He never liked the smell of smoke; not on the battle field and not when Corsshair smoked.
Then Hunter stopped walking. "Finish the mission." Without further explanation, he took off towards the building.
"Hunter!" Omega yelled after him.
"Where is he going?" Echo quickly looked to the others. Hunter jumped the iron fence.
"Is he?" Wrecker began.
"Going into a burning building? Yes, yes he is." Tech finished.
"But why?" Omega asked panicked.
"He likely heard something we cannot. We should finish the mission as we were instructed to." Tech continued to walk.
"Alright." Echo drew the word out unsure if they really should. But Hunter knows what he's doing right?
Hunter broke down the door. He needed to locate the sound he heard. The smoke stung his eyes and the heat felt dangerous. He knew it wasn't as bad as it felt sense his senses were enhanced.
It was hard to see. His eyes watered. Smoke entered the man's lungs making it hard to breathe. That feeling was suffocating. The firey walls felt like they were closing in. Hunter had to be quick.
The clone rushed though the building to the second then third floor. He tripped up one the stairs and fell. His arm broke the fraggel stair. He pulled it out of the wood and didn't bother to look at the damage. He probably wouldn't be able to see it either way.
Finally he reached his goal; a crying child. He crossed the room and kneeled down to the child. "Hey kid." The child looked up at the clone and slightly backed away. "I'm not going to hurt you." He coughed then continued talking, "come on."
The boy grabbed Hunter's leg. The man picked up the child and started taking him out of the room. He navigated the smokey maze of the building. When he found a way out he was greeted by his family.
Suddenly Hunter running into a burning building made sense. He always did have a soft spot for children. Wrecker walked closer to him and took the child quickly.
Hunter looked at his family. "We need to find a hospital or something for the kid."
"I already found one. This way." Tech lead them to a hospital. The group dropped the child off and explained what had happened. As much as Hunter wanted to stay and make sure the boy was alright, they were fugitives. He couldn't stay.
Just as they walked outside of the hospital, Hunter collapsed. Tech realized he had forgotten to make sure Hunter was okay. He may not have been touched by the flames but he was by the smoke. Sometimes things like that just go right over your head.
"We don't have what we would need to take care of him. Get him back inside. We will deal with the doctors if necessary." Tech walked over to his brother.
"What's wrong with him?" Omega asked.
"Likely smoke inhalation."
"Tech how are we going to pay for this?" Echo asked begrudgingly.
"Cid owes me a favor." Tech answered.
Wrecker gently picked up Hunter and carried him inside. Tech stayed outside and called Cid and Echo and Omega followed Wrecker.
The doctors did what they could but the damage to Hunter's lungs was to much. He died later that night. The staff didn't dare turn them in. His family intimidated them. They held Hunter in high regards, regardless of his status as a 'tratior'.
Children cry, buildings fall and good people die. It's never quite fair. Even if Hunter was able to avoid the obvious danger, the smoke that hung in the air was an enemy of its own. One that even if he had thought about he would have faced regardless.
Whumpril Day 24: Secret/"What Have You Done?"
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Warning: Violence
Note: I started this before finishing the Umbara arc. I was like half way though and thought of this. Also a patella is your kneecap.
Summary: Kix has some feelings about Obi-wan after Umbara.
Obi-wan stood in the hall. He was waiting for Anakin to join him. The two were going to talk about what had happened on Umbra. They needed to know how to better help their men deal with what they had done. He saw Kix and waved friendly.
Kix walked quickly. He walked up to the general and grabbed him by the neck. "It's your fault." Then he just started hitting him. Obi-wan refused to hit him back. He pulled at the hand around his throat. With his other arm he tried to stop the clone from injuring him further. "How did you not know? Couldn't you sense it?" He yelled.
Obi-wan tried to talk to Kix. He tried to apologize and to explain how he wished he could have and how he never thought something like that was possible; at least not from a jedi.
Kix didn't stop. He knew all the spots to hit someone to leave them helpless. He kicked Obi-wan's knee in the right spot with the right amount of pressure and broke his Patella. He yelled and was pushed to the ground.
Then the clone kicked Kenobi in the head. It started bleeding. He was bleeding and in pain and scared and betrayed but he couldn't find it in himself to be angry. The man was beating him, with what seemed to be no attempt to stop, but at this point there wasn't much he could do to stop him.
With one more hit, he stopped. Kix took a few steps back and stared at the Jedi. Hate laced the clones eyes still; as if he wanted to continue. The hallway was silent.
After a few seconds; that felt like minutes, a set of footsteps could be heard. Fives turned the corner then ran to meet the two. For a moment he didn't realize what had happened. Then he saw his brother's hands. "Kix, what have you done?" He half yelled his question.
"I gave him what he deserved. He was there, he should have known."
"Kix, your job is to heal people not break them!" Fives sighed, "your just looking for someone to blaim. He couldn't have known and you know that."
Kix looked down at his work. The anger faded as he realized what he'd done. "Oh god."
"There it is."
"We need to get him to the med bay." Kix came to his senses.
"You know you're done, right? After this you're locked up for quite some time."
Kix looked at Fives.
"You should have thought about that before you beat the shit out of the general."
Obi-wan started trying to get up. Fives kneeled down to him, "general, rest."
He gave a small nod and laid on the floor. "Fives" Kenobi stuttered.
"Yeah?"
"Lie. I understand." Pain filled his voice but a jedi's compassion always prevails.
"What?" Kix asked.
"It wasn't you" Obi-wan strained.
"But who? We can't just frame someone." Fives grabbed the general and picked him up.
"I don't" he hissed at the pain, "remember."
"I think I understand what you're saying." Fives said. He explained his plan to Kix on the way.
Half way there the Jedi went limp in Fives arms. He noticed but there wasn't much he could do. When the two arrived at the medical center they explained their story. "We found him outside. He said he couldn't remember what happened. He had tried to get back to the temple, said it was the closest medical center."
The two were asked questions and despite the 501st being terrible liars they got by. Fives explained the story to Obi-wan before they asked him for his story and he matched the it perfectly.
When he was released from the medical ward Kix approached him. "Why?"
"What?" He asked.
"Why did you lie? Why didn't you tell them? Why?"
"Anger" Obi-wan sighed, "clouds your judgment. It takes control. You're not violent and you got pushed over the edge. Don't do anything like this again and we should be fine. It'll be our secret."
"Yes Sir." Kix saluted him.
Obi-wan pulled his arm down and gave the soldier a hug, "it's going to be okay Kix."
Kix returned the hug. It felt nice. Now he just had to hope the secret of what he had happened didn't become too much. Obi-wan was a nice man who didn't deserve what he'd done. He didn't deserve the general's forgiveness. He understood that the jedi would have to suffer on silents.
Whumpril Day 25: On The Run/"We're being Watched."
Fandom: Star Wars The Bad Batch
Summary: The batch gets into a stick situation after taking a mission for Cid. Tech does something and almost gets taken out by some clones. Luckily a friend helps out.
Cid loved sending the batch on strange pickup missions. The terrain was rocky but a pleasant temperature. The trees stood tall and the grass a little taller than Omega's ankles.
Hunter led the group with Wrecker following them close behind. Tech, Omega, and Echo walked between them. The leader put his arm out to stop them. "We're being watched." An erie feeling fell over them as they all realized it too.
Tech and Echo moved closer to Omega and the group continued. Not long later they would run into imperial clones. They ran and fought.
Then they entered the forest. It was dence and thorny. Echo kept Omega close while they tried to slip away. They all thought it had worked until the turned back at Wrecker. "Where is Tech?" Hunter hissed.
"He said he'd get them off our trail and that he'd meat us on the Marauder."
"Alright."
Tech moved swiftly through the trees. He skidded to a stop. A river, to big to jump over was in the way. As he got ready to move to the left side he stopped. The three remaining soldiers moved to corner him.
The mercenary grabbed his guns but looked past the clones and closed his eyes. The odds weren't in his favor and he decided the last thing he was going to see wasn't his killers. Three shots were fired and three imperial soldiers fell to the ground. Tech looked to the nearby ledge that the guns sound had come from. There was Crosshair.
Tech smiled and nodded. Of course Crosshair would be there when he was needed most and of course he would wait tell last second. Tech reached his arm out to him, the gesture meaning for him to come with them.
Crosshair smirked but started to leave. Then another shot went off. After that one more. He turned around quickly to see Tech on the ground. He needed to get down there.
A million thoughts ran through Crosshair's mind as he ran to the river. Had he missed and one of the shots not been fatle? How could he have missed when it was that important? Was Tech okay? Was he alive? He would just have to find out when he got down there.
Tech sat up and looked at his leg. He had been shot in his left thigh. Even though he had already taken care of the soldier who shot him he still held the gun towards him.
Crosshair sighed with relief when he saw Tech sitting up. He was glad he was okay. "Let's get you to the Marauder."
Tech stood slowly and took one step forward. He stumbled and Crosshair moved next to him to support him. Some voices could be heard nearby. "Tech, are you alright?"
Tech nodded, "I'm fine."
The two headed into the woods. Tech informed Crosshair which way they needed to be heading. They snuck around, trying not to be caught.
"Down." Tech forced Crosshair into a nearby bush. Then he tumbled into the bush himself. The two watched as the soldiers walked by them. One of them stopped right before the bush and Crosshair looked over at his brother. Tech, painfully sitting on both legs had his guns ready to fire.
Then Crosshair looked at Tech's hands. He was shaking. More than likely it was the pain from his injury. It still hurt Cross to his brother that way.
"Check that bush" one of the clones commanded. A shot rushed out of Tech's gun. Crosshair grabbed Tech and pulled him out of the bush and somewhat dragged him away from the others.
And they were running again. To Tech it felt like that was all he and the batch did; run. They ran from the empire, from enemies they had made, from their past and their problems. They couldn't afford to stop or slow down.
Avoiding the clones was difficult. Avoiding the trees and briers proved to be hard as well. The adrenaline running though Tech's veins somewhat cancelled out the pain.
"Where are you?" Hunter asked over the comm.
"We ran into some difficulties." Tech answered.
"We?" Echo asked, very concerned for the answer.
"Crosshair and I."
"Crosshair?" Wrecker asked hopeful.
"Correct. We are almost there."
"Alright, just hurt." Hunter turned the comm off and sighed into the pilot's chair.
Crosshair and Tech made their way back to the Marauder. Once there, they took care of Tech's leg. They left the planet and headed back to Ord Mentell with a new, old member. Other than Tech's leg the mission was refreshing success.
Whumpril Day 26: Explosion/Short On Time/"I Won't Leave You!"
Fandom: Star Wars The Bad Batch
Warning: Major Character Death
Summary: Wrecker makes a mistake with one of his explosions and it might just cost a life.
Boom. Wrecker blew up the tank he'd set the charges on. He watched the fire in all its glory. Then he looked past the tank. Hunter laid on the ground not too far from it. Then he realized what had happened. Wrecker had not made sure that no one was close to the tank; he didn't think about it.
The demolitionist ran over to his brother. Blood spilled from the man's skin. Hunter looked over at Wrecker. He had known what happened. He wasn't mad, it was a mistake. He also knew he didn't have much time. The injuries would kill him if not treated quickly. There was one more truth he had to face. The droids were still advancing.
"Hold on Hunter." Wrecker gently took off Hunter's helmet and laid it beside him. "Medic!"
Hunter couldn't hear him. "Go."
"What?"
The confusion in Wrecker's body language explained that he hadn't heard him. "You have to go" Hunter strained.
"I won't leave you!"
The ringing in Hunter's ears started to disappear and he began to understand what Wrecker was saying. "You don't" he hissed at the small movements from talking, "have the time."
Wrecker looked at Hunter. He couldn't move him. The injuries need to be taken care of there, they were far too advanced. "If I leave you here you're going to die. I can't let that happen."
"Please. Go."
Wrecker grabbed him comm. "Hunter's down. He needs immediate medical attention. The clankers are advancing too fast and I can't move him."
"Where are you?" Asked Echo.
Wrecker gave the soldier his location. Then he put his arm down and held Hunter's hand. He looked around and realized he really didn't have the time. The droids were far too close. He had to go. Tears gathered in his eyes.
"Go." Hunter manipulated his face to form a small smile.
"I'm sorry." Wrecker stood and ran. He had to. He commed the others to inform them of what had happened.
The Republic would regain control over most of the field. Crosshair found Hunter and looked to see if he was still alive. He kneeled down and checked for a pulse. Nothing.
The clone grabbed his brother's cold body and held him close for just a moment. If only they had time.
Whumpril Day 27: Stepped On
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Warnings: Violence and major character death
Summary: Cody had a run in with General Grievous.
When Commander Cody saw General Grievous he knew things were about to go down hill and fast. His general hasn't been there and the clones by themselves couldn't really do much against him. He ordered a retreat. What else could he really do?
This didn't spare his men. One by one the small group was killed off. With Cody the last one standing he backed himself into a corner. He shot at the Separatist but of course it couldn't help him.
Grievous grabbed him and forced him to the ground. Helplessly Cody looked up at the cyborg. He stepped on the clone, tightening his foot around his body. Cody couldn't breathe. The metal started penetrating his armor then skin. He felt something breaking. Tears welled in his eyes from the pain.
Obi-wan entered the hallway. His heart felt like it stopped when he saw the scene in front of him. He retched his arm out and stopped the attack with the force.
As gently as he could he pulled Grievous from his commander. He pushed him into a nearby wall and ran to the clones side. "Cody. Hold on, okay?"
The Jedi removed the chest plate from the other tenderly. Then he grabbed his cape and pressed it into the injuries. He grabbed Cody's arms and pressed them against the wounds. "Try to hold that for me dear."
Kenobi stood. He ignited his lightsaber and walked towards Grievous. The two engaged in a duel and before long Grievous would retreat.
Cody struggled to stay awake. He was in pain and still couldn't breathe well. The force from the man felt like it would be the end of him.
After the dual Obi-wan quickly moved back to Cody. He gently picked him up and took him to Wooly. "He needs help." The Jedi's voice was shaky.
Wooly grabbed him. He set him down quickly. He pressed two fingers to the commander's neck. Nothing. That can't be right.
Wooly checked again. Nothing. He felt colder than normal. The clone looked up to his general. He had tears in his eyes. "How is he?"
"Sir. He's gone." Wooly motioned to Cody's body and two soldiers came to move him.
"That can't be right. He's gonna be fine." Obi-wan spoke.
"General, I'm sorry." Wooly knew that the two were close but he didn't expect denial.
"Are they going to help him?" Obi-wan asked when the two soldiers took Cody away.
"Yeah, they will help him." Should Wooly have lied, no. But they needed their general. It wasn't ideal but if Wooly kept on pushing then he would crush the jedi. Huh ironic.
Whumpril Day 28: "Let Me Know if You Need Anything." (Alt prompt 13)
Fandom: Star Wars The Bad Batch
Warnings: mentioned character death
Summary: After Tech's death Echo is trying to help the others how he can.
Death is hard to handle, especially when it's the first time you've lost someone. Echo knew it was going to be difficult getting the batch through Tech's death. They had grown up together. He remembers the pain he felt when he lost Cutup, Droidbait, and Hevy so he knows how they feel. Not only that but he's grieving as well.
Wrecker sat alone in his bunk and Hunter sat in the cockpit of the Marauder. Echo walked to talk to Hunter then to Wrecker to check on them.
"Hey Wreck" Echo started.
"Hey Echo" Wrecker spoke softly.
"How are you doing?"
"Fine." Wrecker made it hard to find a way to comfort him. He wouldn't talk about it. He wouldn't really do anything.
Unsure of what to do Echo slightly turned around, getting ready to leave the room. "Let me know if you need anything."
"I need Tech back."
Echo stopped. "I know. But we can't get him back Wrecker, that's not how death works unfortunately." He walked back inside the room and took a set next to his brother.
"I know that Echo."
"I know you know.".
"I need Omega and Cross back to; I need Hunter to calm down and breathe; I need to be able to help you all; I need to not feel this way."
'Well that's a lot to unpack' Echo thought. "We can get Omega and Crosshair back-"
"What if they're dead?" Wrecker interrupted.
"We wouldn't know until we find them."
"Hunter isn't going to calm down until we find them. What if they're gone? He'll never be okay."
"Well Omega's Hunter kid. I know she's our sister but that's his little girl. He'll be okay. If they are gone he'll learn to cope. It'll be okay. And Wrecker, you're helping in small ways but still helping. You need to take care of yourself too."
"Am I always gonna feel like this?"
'he went down the whole list.' Echo was glad it went that way, easier to sort out. "No, not always."
"Will I ever go back to normal?"
"No. There will always be something missing Wrecker. But you will learn to keep growing. You'll be okay."
"Okay."
"Do you need anything?" Echo looked over at Wrecker.
"Maybe a glass of water."
Whumpril Day 29: "Final Warning."
Fandom: Star Wars Prequels/Clone Wars
Summary: Instead of how Palpatine goes about turning Anakin he tries something else.
Anakin was terrified. He knew something was wrong. The chancler called him to his office; which had happened many times before, but this time was different. It felt different.
He hesitated to open the door. Then he did. Inside Padme sat, on her knees, in the middle of the room. Her hands behind her and a gag over her mouth. "Don't move any closer" warned Palpatine.
Anakin took in the sight before him. "What's going on?" he asked frightened.
"You are going to make a choice, Anakin Skywalker. Save your wife and join me or let her die." The sith sent chills down the jedi's spine.
'This has to be a dream right'? Anakin thought to himself. He pinched himself, confirming it was no dream; this was real. The sith had been right there the whole time, they were just to blind to see it.
"Make your choice."
The general looked between Padme and Sidious. He couldn't let Padme die but he had a chance to end everything here. He wanted to be a Jedi for this, to accept that in the end the right choice was to tell the council and end the sith that was Darth Sidious.
"Final warning."
Anakin's heart sank. He couldn't let her die. If he had more time he could find a way out of this. He walked over to the sith, "what ever you say, master." He struggled to let the last word leave his mouth. His master was Obi-wan. That was his teacher; his brother, not Sidious.
Padme feared he would choose her between the jedi. But he wasn't just choosing to betray the Jedi. He betrayed the Jedi, the clones, the people, himself, and her.
Anakin rose from his kneeling position shakily. He ran over to Padme and took the gag out of her mouth, untied it, and threw it to the ground. "Are you alright?" His hands gently cuffed her face.
"I'm okay. Anakin you can't do this."
"I have to."
Whumpril Day 30: Hand Holding
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Warning: violence
Summary: Obi-wan and Cody really like holding hands. Also be careful of the shady guy in the trees.
Obi-wan stood with his commander. The two liked being close. As they explained their mission plan they held hands; the table being high enough to hid it.
The warmth of their hands together felt nice. It was gentle and loving. Both men found it comforting. It was risky but something they were willing to do.
The Jedi's sin was on display when they stood so close together or held hands. Nither was big on pda but they liked being close; it made them feel safe.
The meeting would end and the lovers walked to get ready for the mission. Everything had been going to plan; for once. Most of the droids had been defeated. Some escaped into the woods.
After the scouts split off from the rest of its company they attempted to find some remaining droids. The trees stood tall, around 320 feet. The trunks were wide. The bark was a dark brown and the leaves where a variety of colors, mostly black and red.
Something felt eerie about the forest.
Maybe it was just the trees looming over them. The scouts split off in groups of two and were instructed to go no further then half of a mile and to meet back in around 30 minutes.
Obi-wan went with Cody. Wooly and Boil pushed for it. The group of people all seemed to push for it. Even though the two where suspicious of the reasoning they decided it was fine.
Everyone split up. Obi-wan and Cody talked while they walked. When they got as far out as they were ment to go something cought the Jedi's eye. Someone was moving in the trees.
The figure was tall. They seemed to fit in with the tree leaves. Then Kenobi realized who it was. His chest tightened and he grabbed Cody's hand and quickly pulled him behind the closet tree.
He placed his back against the tree. He raised his other arm up and put a finger over Cody's mouth when he started to ask what was going on.
Obi-wan tighter his grip on Cody's hand. They stood only inches apart. The Jedi leaned over to the soldier; slightly on his tippy toes, to whisper something. "Maul."
Cody looked shocked. He pulled Obi-wan closer. He didn't need the force to know he was scared.
"Go find the others. Get them far away from here" Obi-wan whispered.
"Okay. Are you going to be okay?"
The general didn't get a chance to answer. Maul turned the corner of the tree, "found you."
Obi-wan turned quickly and grabbed at his lightsaber. He missed. Cody saw and pulled him back as Maul swung his own at the two. He swung again and Cody cought the blade. He yelped and stumbled back. However Obi-wan was still holding his hand.
Not registering anything other than that Cody was hurt the Jedi moved in front of him, actually grabbing his lightsaber this time. He looked back at Cody and realized something. There was no way for him to still be holding his with as far as he was.
Maul stood back to let the horrifying truth set in. Obi-wan lifted his right arm in front of him and screamed, dropping the hand that he had been holding on to. He looked back at Cody.
Trying to shake that off the man turned his attention back to the sith, lightsaber now resting in both of his hands.
"Commander, are you alright?"
"Yes sir."
"If you can, stay with what I told you."
"Yes sir."
Cody stood carefully. He held the area above where his hand had been severed.
Maul started fighting Obi-wan; taunting him as he did. "Who's your friend Kenobi" he hissed.
"That's my commander." Obi-wan feared losing him. He had already lost so much because of Maul. Qui-gon, Satine, innocent people, parts of himself all burned or laid to rest because of him. Cody wouldn't be added to that list, he couldn't.
The commander made his way to the meeting place. Maul tried to kill him but Kenobi was able to stop him. Cody felt weak and sort of stumbled into the tiny clearing, still surrounded by trees.
"Took you long enough, we were about to come" Wooly tone changed from joking to confused, "find you."
"Commander." One of the soldiers ran up to him, helping him sit down. "I think you're missing something." He gestured to the other's arm.
"I know."
"Where is the general?" One of the other men asked.
"There's a sith" he stated weakling.
"We can't just stand here! We have to help him!"
"We can't. He'll be okay."
And he was. The match ended with Maul having to make a quick escape do to a problem with his lightsaber. Obi-wan didn't chase after him because of injuries. He looked down at where Cody's hand still lay. Debating if he should take it back to the ship he decided not to; it was too late to reattach it anyway.
Obi-wan limped back to the Negotiator. The others were waiting. It might have been the first time that the Jedi went straight to the medical bay conscious. He always insisted there was something he could help with.
When Obi-wan saw Cody he felt the relief wash over him. He walked over to his bed despite Wooly trying to get him to lay down. He was asleep or unconscious; he wasn't sure. The man smiled and allowed Wooly to help him over to a bed of his own.
After both of them were released from the med bay the couple would talk. "You and Anakin match."
"Ha, I guess we do."
Cody took Obi-wan's hand and led him down the mall. The two walked to the generals quarters and went inside. They laid down; Cody morphing his body around Kenobi. He grabbed his hand and snuggled in. Everything would be just fine.
