Codywan Week Day 6: Quiet Love

Summary: Obi-wan and Cody love doing small things for each other. Even things they don't talk about or acknowledge. When Obi-wan's favorite pair of robes get damaged, he doesn't have the time to repair them. However, Cody finds a way to fix them.

Obi-wan and Cody's love for each other was shown in quiet declarations. Small things they would do for each other. Sure they spent almost every night together, snuggling close to each other and holding each other. But they also slid their feet together at meeting tables and looked back at each other in crowds to make sure they were okay.

Quiet love was their favorite. Cody remembered times where he would drop something under a table and he would sit up to see Obi-wan's hand on the corner, making sure he didn't hit his head. He remembered short touches when he was nervous.

They would sneak kisses in empty halls and hold hands on walks in the woods. They loved it almost as much as they loved each other.

"Are you ever going to fix those robes?" Cody asked his partner.

"I don't have the time." Obi-wan sighed as he folded the set of robes and put them in a drawer.

"They're your favorite." The site of robes were just about the same color as most of the ones he wore. However the fabric was softer and slightly more worn. It made them more comfortable to wear.

"I know. I'm sure I'll do it soon." With that he closed the drawer. "I'm going to go get something to eat, want anything?"

"Maybe some coffee?" Cody answered.

Obi-wan smiled and left the room. That's when Cody started to look around the room for a needle and thread. He had learned some domestic skills when he was bored on Kamino or in-between missions. Sewing was one of his favorites even if it was still somewhat difficult.

Finding the small repair kit Obi-wan's had tucked away in a drawer, the clone removed the set of robes from the drawer. Then he sat down at the table and found the holes he needed to mend.

After finding the holes, Cody started to stitch them shut. It wasn't perfect but slowly he fixed each and every hole he could. The larger ones were easier to work on. Like every time he tried to sew, he stabbed himself with the needle a few times. However most of the lines were straight so at least it wouldn't look horrible.

When he finished, Cody placed the robes back in the drawer as well as the sewing kit. Then he simply waited for Obi-wan to return. He placed a bandage on one of his fingers since he had poked it with the needle multiple times.

When Obi-wan returned, he gave Cody his coffee as well as an orange flower he had found. "This reminded me of you." He smiled.

"Thank you." Taking the coffee and the flower, Cody sat on the bed. He didn't think about the robes until later. After all, he didn't do it for anything other than making Obi-wan's life easier. In fact, he didn't think he needed to tell him. Later that week, the Jedi would think about it and pull them out like he had done that day. This time, he would see that all the holes had been closed.

The two men enjoyed the rest of their evening together. Cody stayed over that night. He shut the light off and crawled into bed. Obi-wan made sure his feet were covered by the blanket.

Later that week, Obi-wan was alone in his room. He had a pile of paper work that needed to be done. Still, he opened one of his dresser drawers. Pulling out his favorite set of robes, he saw that someone had already mended them. Smiling, Obi-wan knew he needed to thank Cody. He knew he would wear them the next day and he knew that it would make his beloved commander smile. Oh how he loved the little things.

Codywan Week Day 7: Long Hair/hair cutting/trimming

Summary: At the beginning of the Clone War, Obi-wan made the decision to cut his hair. The problem, he doesn't know how. That doesn't stop him from attempting. Now he needs to find someone who can fix his mistake.

Obi-wan liked having long hair when he was younger. That's why when the clone war started, his hair was long enough to be put in a ponytail. However it started to get in his way.

Most padawans grow out their hair once they become knights. It was almost like a rite of passage. After having their hair be so short for so long, it only made sense to want to know what it was like when it was longer.

It was one night a few months into the war when Obi-wan made the decision to cut his hair. He found that it was in his face often enough.

The 212th was on their way to a mission on an outer rim planet that night. Obi-wan had found a pair of scissors and there was no turning back. He looked in the mirror and remembered the other reason he wanted to cut his hair. It had started to look like Qui-gon's.

That wasn't the worst thing, but seeing Qui-gon in his reflection only reminded him of his failure to protect him. So he took the scissors to his hair and started to cut it.

After a moment, the Jedi came to the realization that cutting your own hair with no prior experience is probably a bad idea. Unsure of what to do, Obi-wan raised his arm so that he could talk into his comm. The man had one person in mind when he thought of who to call. Cody.

Cody was his most trusted friend in the 212th. There was something about him that had made him comfortable with the clone from day one. Maybe it was the way he spoke or the way that he showed his kindness. Maybe it was the way that he felt around him. There was something about this man that was different. It was a feeling he had only felt a few times in his life but this time he was more certain.

So Obi-wan called Cody and told him what he did. Putting down his blaster, the commander stated he was on his way. He would just have to wait to clean his blaster. It wasn't a big deal.

As Cody walked in the halls, he thought about the Jedi. Obi-wan was an extraordinary man. He was kind and sassy and could be sarcastic at times. These were all things that Cody found he loved about him. The man thought that he probably should use the word 'love' but it seemed to be true.

Knocking on the door, Cody waited to be let in. When Obi-wan came to the door, he was a bit surprised by his hair.

"Okay." Cody whispered. He didn't want to seem like he was judging him, but he was. The man's hair was chopped up. Some parts were longer than others.

When Cody was a cadet, one of his friends asked him to cut his hair. So he learned how. It was like how some clones learned the art of tattoos. Cody was unsure why some of his brothers chose him to cut their hair. Maybe he had steady hands or was just good at it from the start. It didn't matter. Right now he was just glad he could.

"Can you fix it?" Obi-wan's face was red. He seemed embarrassed to be asking.

"I can." Cody informed him.

"Thank you." Obi-wan let him into the room. He sat down on a chair and told him to find whatever he thought would look best. Cody already knew what he would do. While he was best at the standard clone hairstyle, he knew that he could do something a little more elaborate for his general.

The clone kept his sidepart and cut his hair up to his ears. Obi-wan found he wasn't focusing on his hair. He was focusing on the way that Cody took care of it. The man was quiet as he focused and every now and again his fingers would brush up against Obi-wan's neck. It brought a weird feeling to him. It was a good feeling, yet something he felt he shouldn't feel.

Cody remembered thinking about how soft his hair was. The Jedi must have taken great care of it. He knew he couldn't mess this up. So, he tried his best just to focus on the hairstyle and not who was sitting in front of him. "You have very soft hair." He couldn't resist telling him.

"Oh, thank you." Obi-wan said nervously. But why was he so nervous? Cody figured he was just nervous that he wouldn't look good when he was done.

So the two sat there. It took maybe 20 minutes before Cody said anything. Then he told Obi-wan he was done and told him he should find a mirror.

The Jedi wasn't sure what to expect. However when he saw himself in the mirror he knew he picked the right person to fix his mistake. "It looks great, thank you." He smiled.

"Of course. Maybe don't try to cut your hair on your own next time." Cody joked.

Laughing, Obi-wan agreed he wouldn't. Something about this encounter made them closer. The next time his hair started to grow out, Cody offered to cut it for him. "It's not much trouble." He would say. They both knew that they wanted to spend more time together it wasn't planning a battle or on the battlefield.

This became a routine for them. About every 6 weeks Cody would have Obi-wan sit down so that he could cut his hair. As the two got more comfortable with the situation, they started to talk. They told stories about when they were younger and Cody told him how he knew how to cut hair. Obi-wan thought it was sweet.

When they started dating this routine did not change. It was still something they looked forward to. The two figured they always would. Even as things changed they still had each other. The Clone and the Jedi always hoped they would. Even if it was just something as simple as a haircut that they shared between the two.

Codywan Week Day 8: Anniversary

Summary: Cody and Obi-Wan spend their first anniversary together on Alderaan. Both of them make sure to make it a special night. With both of them having plans for the other, they spend their evening together.

It was Cody and Obi-wan's one year anniversary. Despite never celebrating a romantic anniversary, Cody was determined to make it special. He wasn't quite sure how. There was no one he could ask that wouldn't make it suspicious so he had to figure out what to do on his own.

So he started to plan a week before. They make sure that you both have the day off. They have been invited to Alderaan for a political conference. The two would leave Coruscant three days before their anniversary. Their anniversary date was the day after the conference. Bail Organa had wanted them to stick around for a day after the conference to make sure everything went smoothly. It was perfect.

After making sure they were free, he found out what kind of food he needed to put together. He settled on chicken parmesan with spaghetti as they both liked and it seemed to be something easy enough to make.

Then the clone commander wandered the woods trying to find a good spot for a picnic. It needed to be far enough away from the public that they did not have to worry about anyone stumbling upon them. He found an area that had a flat rock but was still surrounded by trees. They were mostly pine trees and oak trees. Being surrounded by the trees made the area smell amazing so he didn't have to worry about any candles. After all those could start forest fires.

Then he needed something to wear. While most of the time his armor is what he wore, he figured that some basic civilian clothes would be best for this outing. So he went to talk to Rex to see if he knew of anything he could borrow. Soon his brother brought him a pair of black pants and a white shirt. Cody thanked him and made sure he packed them when planning the trip.

Obi-wan seemed excited. Cody wasn't sure if it was just getting away from the war or if he felt that he had something planned for their anniversary. Either way the clone loved to see him so excited.

Once on Alderaan, Cody went to find all the ingredients he would need for their dinner. He borrowed a picnic basket from one of Senator Organa's friends after he had been talking to himself about needing one.

While in the woods the day before, Cody searched for some flowers that he could give his partner the next day.

The day of their anniversary came and Cody told Obi-wan he had a surprise for him. Obi-wan told him he had one as well. The two laughed, both slightly hoping they didn't plan the same thing.

Cody had Obi-wan follow him into the woods. He took his hand and led to the spot he had carefully picked out. There the picnic had already been set up as well as a bottle of wine sitting in the middle of the blanket. Bail had given it to them to celebrate a successful conference.

"Oh Cody. This is perfect." The two sat down on the blanket and talked for hours. The shared kisses and held hands under the protection of the hidden woods. This situation was ideal for them.

After their dinner, Obi-wan took them further into the woods. They walked hand in hand up a steep hill that led to the edge of a cliff. There the Jedi had set up flowers and some small candles. There was also a small record player off to the side. "I wanted to dance with you." Obi-wan explained.

Cody smiled as he took Obi-wan's other hand in his. "Then we dance."

So Obi-wan turned on the music and started helping Cody figure out how to dance. It wasn't something he had ever been taught but it was something he knew he wanted to do as long as Obi-wan did.

Cody would do anything Obi-wan wanted him to do. So they danced as the sun went down. The sunset was filled with brilliant reds and oranges.

"The sunset reminds me of you." Obi-wan said.

Smiling, Cody kissed him. "Thank you Cyare." As the night progressed, they stopped dancing and sat down on the cliff. The rocks were smooth which made the ground flat enough to dance in the first place.

They continue to talk. Soon talking turned into cuddling and cuddling turned into kissing. Both men's hands traveled the other's bodies. They knew each other's sensitive spots and where they liked to be held and kissed.

As they kissed, Cody broke their connection and started to kiss Obi-wan's neck. The Jedi caught his breath before suggesting that they return back to their room for the night. They could return in the morning and pick up everything they had set up that night, as long as they put the candles out before they left.

Cody agreed and they blew out the candles. They didn't make it far before stopping at their picnic spot to make sure there was nothing they needed to bring in that night. Before they left, they started kissing again. The commander pushed his general into a tree and pushed his body into his lovers. He grabbed his waist and pulled him close.

"Not here" Obi-wan whispered. "Be patient love."

Kissing him again, Cody moved. Then the two made their way back to their room where they would spend the night together, tangled up with each other. It was the perfect day for the two of them. That morning they knew they would return to their normal lives, fighting in a war and remaining secretive about their relationship.

Their second anniversary they spent on a battlefield. That night came a few months before the end of the war. It was a quiet but stressful night. With no ring, Cody asked Obi-wan to marry him. He swore he would give him one once they were safe and he could find one.

"Of course I will." Obi-wan had told him. "I love you."

"I love you too." With no one around the two shared a quick kiss before continuing to plan how they were to win this battle. Of course they would and once they returned the Jedi Temple Cody would find a simple ring that he could give his lover. The Jedi kept it on the necklace so that it would be easier to hide.

Once they had matching rings, Obi-wan added his to the necklace with his engagement ring. Cody found a chain and made sure that he kept his necklace under his shirt.

Even as the years passed, the memories of their first two anniversaries stayed with the two even after they were forced to split up by the end of the war. Neither removed their necklaces for a long time. Cody moved his ring to his finger once he escaped the empire.

Their first anniversary however, was their night and no one would take that night from them. Not the empire, not the Jedi, and not the sith. That night belonged to them forever and always. No one could take their love from them, even after everything that had happened. After all sometimes it was all they had left. Love.

Augusnippets Day 11: Whumpee wearing Caretakers clothes

Fandom: The Clone Wars

Summary: While in a mission on a frozen planet, Cody falls into a lake. Obi-wan knows it's important to keep him warm.

"Cody!" Obi-wan sled over to him as he fell under the ice. The thickness of the ice was hard to see under the snow. One of the men helped the jedi grab a hold of Cody and pulled him back to the surface. They dragged him away from the opening.

"Are you alright?" Kenobi asked. Cody didn't answer at first. Suddenly being submerged in freezing water had taken his breath away. He just listened to Obi-wan talk. Talking to the men, he told them to find a place to shelter them from the harsh and cold winds. They agreed and went to find a place to set up camp for the night.

As Obi-wan wrapped his clock around the man, Cody finally snapped back to reality. "Obi-wan?"

"Yes love?"

"You're going to get cold" he shivered.

"Oh I'll be alright. Let's get you someplace a little warmer. Then men are.teying to find cover."

Cody pulled the cloth closer to his body. It made him feel a little better. While he couldn't feel the clock's soft texture, he knew it was there. After all, he had felt it many times before.

Helping Cody stand, Obi-wan pulled him close. "Let's find the men."

Cody characterisation help request

So I’m working on my first long multi chapter fic (Codywan), it’s all planned out and I’m going to write it all before posting but I’ve got to a point where I’m just not sure I’m writing Cody right. I set a bunch of goals for this fic and one of them was to write Cody in a way more true to how Tem plays him in AOTC. So this is really random but here’s a snippet of the fic and if anyone has any feedback I’d be really grateful for the help. (I’m open to feedback on anything: Cody, the others, structure or literally anything, I’m just really not sure about Cody right now.)

(set just after the Zero the Hutt arc where Obi-Wan and Quinlan fight Bane.)

“I do feel like we missed some things in the debriefing.” Obi-Wan complained to the ceiling as he lounged along the sofa, his head leaning on the armrest and feet almost in Quinlan’s lap. Cody and Quin had both rolled their eyes when he’d stretched out dramatically, but it was his sofa and he was recovering from electrocution, so what could they do?

Somehow, despite the casualness of the position and the beer bottle in his hand, Obi-Wan still looked like the picture of professionalism. Cody thought that summed up his General pretty well.

“Do you get what I was saying now Codes?” Quin leaned over the coffee table of empty takeaway containers to say to him. “He’s never happy with anything. Something’s always wrong.”

Cody wasn’t sure how he felt about being called Codes by someone other than his brothers, but Quinlan seemed like someone who naturally fell into nicknames and it was better than just ‘Commander’ like he’d been using earlier. Not to imply he didn’t take pride in his rank but it just reminded Cody of the only thing he was ever meant to be: not a person, or a friend or a brother, a Commander.

Codes was better compared to that.

Obi-Wan kicked the Jedi. “Something’s wrong with you.”

Now Cody was looking at their relationship like brothers and not lovers, it all of a sudden seemed healthier. He thought that probably said a lot about social standards for sibling relationships but he could see comparisons to his own dynamics with his brothers and it felt… more fond, as a sibling relationship.

He found himself laughing at their interaction and smiling as he spoke. “I can’t speak for accuracy to the mission but it did sound like a typical Bane fight.”

Quin took a sip of his beer. “Oh yeah, because you guys fight him a lot don’t you?”

It was an invitation to a new topic, a throwing of a different subject onto the table to see what the other two men would do with it.

Obi-Wan snatched it up immediately. “Oh, tell me about it.”

In doing so, he set the tone for a conversation of surface-level complaint and a lighthearted discussion of some of their battles. Cody could work with that.

“It’s him I’m telling you.” Cody said to Quin, pointing a finger at Obi-Wan from around the neck of his bottle and his General gave a small laugh. “He’s like a bad-guy magnet. Pirates, Sith, Bounty Hunters, Seppies and all sorts.”

“Oh, he’s always been like that.” Quin told him. “Trouble follows Obi like a love sick puppy.”

Obi-Wan laughed at that and Cody suppressed a grin with a fake eye roll. “Oh you bet half of them are in love with him.”

Cody’s Jedi threw his head back and cackled, before turning his head on the armrest and smiling at the Commander. “Cody.”

“It’s true though!” Cody argued, pushing himself forwards to lean his forearms on his knees. “They don’t even try to hide it.”

Obi-Wan kept laughing, despite his efforts to hide it in his hand.

“Wait, wait,” Quin started. “Explain that, man. Like, give an example.”

“There are no examples! He’s fibbing!” Obi-Wan argued.

Cody loved it when his General teased him, or treated him in that way. It felt, to him, like being seen. Infinitely more seen than the polite, respectful way most clone allies treated him; like they were more interested in being seen as politically correct than actually getting to know him and seeing who he was. Obi-Wan saw him, that that was evidenced by his willingness to completely take the mick in the face of his dry humour.

“I’m not!” Cody shot back and then turned his attention to Quin and his question. “First of all there’s Ventress.”

“No,” Obi-Wan pushed up and sat properly on the sofa and Cody’s full attention was on him in an instant. “I know what your taking about, but it’s just the same thing I’m doing: flirting as a distraction.”

The Jedi took a sip from his beer to indicate he’d finished his point.

“I don’t know what he’s on about!” Quin argued. “What kind of stuff does she do?”

“Strip tease.” Cody deadpanned and Obi-Wan choked on his drink.

“Cody!” He gasped.

“That’s all I’m going to say.” The Commander shrugged, and then with a roll of his eyes added. “And then there’s Hondo.”

“Hondo is defiantly not in love with me.” Obi-Wan argued, composing himself from the choking. “That smuggler would proposition anything that breaths.”

“Who’s Hondo?” Quin asked but went ignored.

“Exactly,” Cody said. “He’s definitely not picky with partners but who does he keep coming back to?”

“I- Cody!” He said again, disbelief lacing his voice.

“That’s my name, don’t wear it out.” Cody leaned back on the sofa again. “And anyway, with the whole Cad thing, I’m sure if you missed something it probably wasn’t important. He probably just said something like, I hate having my job done for me.”

Obi-Wan gave a surprised laugh at Cody’s impression and the Commander couldn’t be happier that he didn’t even try to hide it.

“That’s exactly what he sounded like!” Quin butted in, a stupid grin spreading over his face.

“It’s spot on.” Obi-Wan agreed through his subsiding chuckle.

“Don’t laugh.” Cody continued in Cad’s voice, pushing to keep that smile on his General’s face. Force knows he doesn’t do it anywhere near often enough. “I am being serious.”

“Oh, I know you are my dear.” Kenobi laughed.

-

yeah. This is just an in-between scene at the start of the fic. The general premise is based around Cad saying the Separatists are paying a million credits for a Jedi and these three idiots coming up with a plan for Cody to fake betray Obi-Wan to get the credits then escape. Obviously, it doesn’t go to plan and Anakin comes to rescue his master, trying to hurt Cody in the process and when Obi-Wan defends him Anakin’s like: Master I know you’re in love with him but he’s a traitor! And Cody’s just like: what. theres also some good angst about Cody pretending to be evil and feeling awful about it. i might post that scene for more feedback if this one is well-received.

anyway, any and all feedback is appreciated! If you take the time to help I will be infinitely grateful to you!

Obi-Wan : Oh my god! Anakin! I didn't raise you like that!

Cody : I'm going to be sick...

*2 hours later*

Anakin: I don't understand their reaction, Rex! We didn't do anything wrong!

Rex: I don't know, sir. Maybe sleeping in the same tent as his general is forbidden.

Anakin : What? Even when it's very cold? That's ridiculous! Sharing a tent is the best idea to avoid freezing to death!

Rex : I know, sir. Their reactions are strange.

Kix : Maybe it's because General Kenobi and Commander Cody weren't talking about sharing a tent?

Anakin : What were they talking about then?

Obi-Wan : We don't have time for that.

Cody : I can give him food and drink! I can also take it out for a walk!

Obi-Wan : Cody, it doesn't work like that...

Cody : It's not fair! Gree, Grey, and even Rex have a Padawan!

Obi-Wan : ... Why do you want a Padawan?

Cody : To give him the order to do my paperwork of course.

Obi-Wan : Cody!

Cody : What? Skywalker does it all the time! I can't stand to deal with all the paperwork anymore! Do you realize all the work I do?! I eat and breathe paperwork! I sleep with paperwork! I'm struggling with paperwork! I'm talking with paperwork!

Obi-Wan : I'm pretty sure that's an exaggeration...

Cody : My LIFE is paperwork!!

Cody :

Cody : General Kenobi, we need to talk.

Obi-Wan : Is there a problem?

Cody : Yes. Well, no, not really. We are not under attack. No one died. And 501 is on another planet.

Obi-Wan : So what's the problem?

Cody : You need to find a Padawan.

Obi-Wan : What? Why?

Cody : Because I want a Padawan! Go get one!

Obi-Wan : We don't have time for that.

Cody : I can give him food and drink! I can also take it out for a walk!

Obi-Wan: We're going to go east and Anakin's group is going to go west. Then...

Anakin : ...

Obi-Wan : I can't do that anymore, Anakin! I can't keep ignoring this!

Anakin : But...

Obi-Wan: Anakin, why do you have a fucking blaster ?!

Waxer : *Shocked* Cody! The general said the "f word" in front of the shinies !

Obi-Wan : I don't care! I can't believe Anakin is so uncivilized! Blasters are so uncivilized!

212th Battalion: ...

Cody : It's not...

Anakin: It was Rex's idea! He told Ahsoka and I that having blasters in addition to our lightsabers would give us an advantage on the battlefield and that it would be safer for us. And you know what? Rex is right!

Obi-Wan : Ahsoka too??? I can't believe Rex is such a bad influence on both of you! Anakin, Rex makes you act in such an uncivilized way!

Cody : Don't involve Rex in any of this! Skywalker does very well on his own to deprave himself!

Obi-Wan : You certainly don't mean that, my dear.

Cody : Don't "my dear" me! Skywalker is the one who has a terrible influence on Rex and the 501! Skywalker is a chaos demon!

Obi-Wan : Rex is evil incarnate! That stupid blonde head corrupted my little baby Padawan!

Cody : ... You're sleeping on the floor tonight.

Boil : Guys, our parents are fighting... Again.

Anakin : ... So that means I'm allowed to keep the blaster?
