How I Joined a Secret Satanic Cult - WIP Intro
Tumblr deleted the draft of this post three times. So enjoy the four days of frustration that went into making this post. I really hope you enjoy it.

Backstory - When Naomi’s mom moved back to her home town of Fortuna Naomi thought it would be a fresh start. And the pair had had many fresh starts in the past. Because of her mom’s drug abuse Naomi had lived in ten apartments by the time she was eight years old. But when her mom got married and moved back to Fortuna everything settled down. Suddenly Naomi and her mom had what they had never dreamed of. A family, a real complete christian family. Naomi didn’t get along with her step-brother, but she tried to be part of that perfect family. Her mom had been a girl scout so Naomi joined too. Along with learning the viola and trying to be the best daughter she could be for her mom. But it wasn’t enough, by her freshman year of highschool Naomi’s tired of being someone who she’s not. But when she tries to express herself she finds herself even more alienated from her family. One day when she’s hiding from some upperclassman in the public library she finds a card in between some books. When she follows the instructions on the back she finds herself in the middle of the woods witnessing her girl scout trope leader pouring blood on a guy from an urn. Naomi doesn’t know what she’s gotten herself into, but she not sure if she hates it either.
About Naomi - I image her as a girl who’s been trying her best her entire life. Before her mom moved to Fortuna and got clean she helped her out a lot. Cooking for her, making sure she woke up in time for work, and even reminding her when bills needed to be paid. But when they moved out of Olympia and Naomi’s mom no longer needed so much help Naomi didn’t know what to do. But being a kid Naomi tried to do what she had always been doing, being the best she could be for her mom. And at the beginning of the story Naomi is finally being to realized that what’s best for her mom might not be best for her. That to really be happy and begin her life she has to live her life for herself. As her new satanist friends would say she needs to live for only herself and Satan.
How the Story is Told - To make this as personal and emotional as possible this story is told through Naomi’s diary entries. Every chapter is a new day, a new entry in Naomi’s diary. Throughout the day Naomi gives her biased and sometimes very emo report of how her day went. Leaving out things that bored her and going on rants about people she was particularly annoyed with that day.
Themes - This story is principally about collectivism vs. individualism. Whether Naomi should think about the good of her community and family or her own wellbeing. But along the way Naomi explores themes of the importance of religion and what constitutes a healthy relationship. With a good bit of found family sprinkled throughout.
If Your Interested - Hopefully I remember to post about Naomi and what’s happening with her and I’ve already started posting HIJASSC ( great acronym I know) and if you’re interested in reading it you can check it out here.

How I Joined a Secret Satanic Cult - Excerpt
The card became my only guide as I walked deeper and deeper into brush, unable to get my bearings. Above me the leaves were so thick that I could barely see the moon and judging by the height of the plants no one had walked there in ages. I’ll admit to you diary that I was a little scared. Even the earthy smell of the plants that was usually comforting during a hike told me that I was far away from everything, that if I got lost I would be on my own.
But fortunately I didn’t get lost in the woods and the map on the back of the card was pretty accurate. I thought about how I would know when I got to the spot, but it turned out that I didn’t need to worry about that. It started with some little flashes of light between the trees, then everything got brighter and I came to the edge of a clearing. A man-made clearing I might add. Little plants were growing in the dirty and what looked like a pile of uprooted weeds almost tripped me as I walked into the treeless space. And those little flashes of light I saw? Candles, actual lit candles sitting in piles of stones resting on the exposed roots of pine trees.
My mind was still on the many exposed, seemingly unattended small fires in the middle of a forest when I walked into the clearing, but my eyes widened when I saw what was inside. People, teenagers, a random assortment of people I see everyday walking the halls of Fortuna High, were assembled. Everyone was sitting cross legged in a rough circle, fingers resting on their knees as if meditating. It was so shocking I fell forward and almost tripped, but someone reached out and steadied me before I lost my balance completely. Though I was barely conscious of what was happening to me, what was in the center of the circle was something I would never even dream of.
Evelyn’s loose blonde hair flowed down her shoulders and her eyes flickered red in the candle light. She was wearing red jeans and a white t-shirt painted with blood. In her hands was a vase, but not the flower kind, more something out of our annual biblical plays. And in hindsight I actually think it was from one of the plays, a vessel for anointing. But instead of oil flowing from the fake gold jar it was blood, deep red thick blood. In all of the clearing Evelyn was the only one standing, and everyone else was sitting down. Expect one guy, who was kneeling like he was about to be knighted. His fist was grinding into the dirt as more and more blood poured into his hair and dripped onto what I assumed were white clothes. While she was pouring Evelyn was saying something, chanting something but I was too stunned to really listen.
All I could think to say was, “This is such a fire hazard.”

I finished my wip!!!
i just wrote a climax i've had in my head for over two years, and it turned out more brilliantly than i could've hoped! i never thought this wip would be finished, but even at its very rough stage, it's done! it's on paper!
THE FLAME AT THE END OF THE WORLD is clocking in draft 1 at 106k, 365 pages! onwards we go towards editing, but i would love to see some celebration emojis in the reblogs!
and, a quick blurb about the premise, because i haven't been posting about it lately:
a prince (elys) with the gift of divine flame was chosen at birth to end the world and sculpt something new from the ashes. after the cataclysmic massacre of his home, his family, and his peace, he and his loyal bodyguard (mordi, the pov character) set out on a fated journey to collect nine rare ingredients that will make elys stronger, wiser, and powerful enough to wield the flame and end the world when the time comes. none could be more faithful or protective than mordi, a mage of shadow and moonlight. after growing up with elys and spending every moment of their adult lives guarding his door, mordi can safely say he's been in love with elys all his life. his loyalty conflicts with his unrequited love as he helps elys toward the rebirth of everything they've ever known.

STARBLOOD: a wip intro
Genre/Audience: adult futuristic fantasy Series/Standalone: ?? POV: multi pov 3rd limited Status: planning Synopsis: The immortals are gone. A distant legend. That won't stop the humans they left behind from inheriting the conflict in their stead. Division between those who wish to harvest the forces of aether and chaos to their own ends leads to decades of enmity resulting in partition. It was meant to be a peaceful solution, but it has not quelled the appetites of those who yearn for full dominance. Now a couple of indoctrinated citizens must decide if they want to continue being pawns or learn to play the game. Set in The Essence of the Equinox universe long after the events of the first trilogy. For fans of Attack on Titan and Baldur's Gate 3.
I can't properly start writing this until after TEOTE is over but I'm introducing it anyway since I think writeblr is a better platform for WIPs than anywhere else.
That said, I haven't felt this strongly about a story in a while and I think it has lasting power. There are a few concepts I'm undecided on that I think would be fun to attempt to strengthen them over time and discussion.
WIP INTRO

Sunny specializes in the rarest form of magic, the solar arts, allowing her manipulation over time and space, but somehow being a half-mage trumps that fact. Nothing but ridicule awaits impure mage’s like her at Redstone, the Academy for Extraordinary Sorcerers. She seeks acceptance and recognition above everything else, and what better way to get it than by entering the Redstone Tourney? It’s the event of the year! Mage’s of all ages battle it out for the opportunity to compete in the Global Mage Cup, where they’ll earn eternal glory.
As a participant in the tournament, Sunny will battle against students from her academy while showcasing her magical prowess. It should be a simple task, but things take a turn when her best friends, Thomas and Ellory, go snooping around about the rumors revolving around the past Tourney champions. Despite the oddities piling up, Sunny still intends to win. But the higher she climbs in the ranks, the more anxious she becomes to see what truly awaits the champion on the other side.
What’s the true purpose of the Redstone Tourney, and what happens to the champions in the aftermath? Sunny and her friends intend to find out.
Genre: Fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, and romance (VERY slowburn, and it’s not the main focus of the story).
Setting: Redstone, the Academy for Extraordinary Sorcerers. It’s headquartered on the outskirts of an isolated patch of woodland [The Shrieking Hollows] in New Jersey.
Tropes: rivals to begrudged friends to really good friends, and friends to enemies.
Main characters:
Sunny Mage (15 y/o)- A bubbly kid who sees the world through rose-colored glasses. Unfortunately, the world chews her up and spits her back out. As a half-mage she gets bullied a lot in school, so she enters the Tourney to change her situation.
one fun fact: She has a younger brother, Jax, who went to live with her dad when their parents got divorced. They haven’t spoken since the incident.
one quirk: Sunny is a complete slob, but somehow she can always find whatever she needs in the magic pouch she keeps around her waist.
Thomas Hale (14 y/o)- A reserved hollow (person without natural magic) who goes to Redstone with hopes of learning all kinds of magic. Much like Sunny, his vision of the world is dashed when harsh realities are forced up him. His best friends are Sunny and Ellory.
one fun fact: His familiar is a cute little spider named Franklin, and Franklin is such a gossip. At night, when Thomas is trying to sleep, Franklin won’t keep his mouth shut.
one quirk: He’s obsessed with the Global Mage Cup. His love for the Tourney is so intense that he keeps a scrapbook about his favorite warriors tucked underneath his bed.
Ellory Stone (15 y/o)- The adopted daughter of Redstone’s headmistress, Lady Stone. She’s a child genius who struggles with basic human interaction, but somehow Sunny wormed her way into her heart.
one fun fact: She makes these neat little gadgets and charms based off her plant magic. They keep her up at all hours of the night.
one quirk: When a mystery or a problem is out in front of her, she won’t let it go until she finds a way to solve it. Sunny calls it obsession, but Ellory likes to call it a passion. Either way, Sunny makes sure Ellory eats properly and doesn’t become too obsessed when she has her slips.
Harmony Eaglewood (15 y/o)- She is the Eaglewood Princess, part of a famous mage family who has participated in the Redstone Tourney for centuries. Although she very much denies it, she and Sunny have a lot more in common than she would like to admit.
one fun fact: She doesn’t want to let her family down so she works hard in every aspect of life. Her efforts seem to pay off because she has mastered three styles of magic: wind, plant, and fire. And naturally, having a grasp over more than one style of magic at her age classifies her as a prodigy.
one quirk: A massive windstorm could sweep her away, but somehow her ponytail will still remain in tact.
Cool stuff you can expect: Freshmen year, every mage gets to go out into the Shrieking Hollows in search of a familiar (an animal to create a magical bond with). Having a familiar means having a magical creature who will dedicate themselves to their mage, and vice versa. During the process, their magic combines and they form a mental link. The link allows them to communicate mentally and sense one another’s magical signature.
Mages who form strong connections with their familiar start taking on certain attributes of theirs. So, if your familiar is a wolf you’ll have their sharp sense of smell, sight, intuition, etc. Mages can also take control of their familiar’s body for espionage missions.
Status: The first draft is near completion (currently on chapter 46). After it’s finished I’ll work on editing, and then I’ll be searching for beta readers.
Expected Word Count: 100-120k (currently at 100k)

Ann Marie, Maya, and I all looked at each other. From their blank faces I could tell that they were just as confused as I was. “What does that mean?” asked Maya. “I presume it means that pressing the hand on the wall opens something. A passageway maybe.” “I already checked the other mosaics and none of them have runes. Who would defile a depiction of our goddess like this?” Ann Marie asked with as much indignation as her soft voice could muster. “There is only one way to find out,” I said, placing my hand atop my goddess’. “Are you sure this is a good idea?” Maya asked. “It could be a trap.” “That is why you are here. You know what to do if something happens to me.” I knew how to read the signs. Someone was calling out for a Spiritwalker’s attention, and no matter who it was or how many warnings I received, I was not going to ignore the call. I would be a failure as a primary lady if I did. The icy tiles warmed beneath my skin, letting me know that I was taking too long. I pushed and the section of wall behind the mosaic shuttered, but I still needed more force. I pressed my other hand to the wall and pushed harder, straining the muscles in my back and shoulders. The wall moved inwards this time, rotating like a cog. When it was just a sliver centered between two gaps, I gestured to Maya. “Are you coming?” The younger witch, ever loyal, followed me into the pitch black that awaited us. The smell of mold slapped me in the face, and I had to resist the urge to cover my nose in order to keep my grip on the wall. I stretched my foot as far as it would go, trying to gauge how far the passage went, but only felt emptiness. This vast, dark, unknown space should have frightened me, but instead I was struck with a strange familiarity. I had been here before—in my dreams.

Sometimes when I lay still long enough for my mind to lose control over where my thoughts roam, and the late summer heat blurs the lines between reality and imagination, I swear I can hear her voice. Her lips just shy of my ear, whispering something unintelligible. I turn to hear her better, but of course she’s not there. Chinwe’s been missing for two weeks. The door clicks as my roommate enters the room. We hardly ever talk. I don’t hate her, and I don’t think she hates me, but she lost interest in me pretty quickly after she discovered I’m a homebody. She’s been talking to me more ever since Chinwe disappeared. Not starting actual conversations, but reminding me of things I needed to do. When she walks in and still sees me in bed when I’m usually heading out the door, she asks, “Don’t you have class soon?” I do, but I don’t want to go. I don’t want to sit in that room that feels too large and yet suffocating with Chinwe’s empty seat next to mine. I groan and run my hands over my braids. Just one class and then I can get out of here. I can do that.

Now twenty-two, he's never forgotten Malcolm, and now works with kids to prevent the same thing from happening to them. He has no idea that his childhood best friend is still alive — and has been following him for the past six months.
And one night, he takes Adrian.
Waking in the cold basement of an abandoned house, Adrian doesn't know why he's been kidnapped, or who has taken him. And the mysterious masked man who brings him dinner is silent on the matter.
The days pass, and Adrian slowly tried to make friends with the masked man. Whether it's out of hope that he will free him, or simply out of desperation for contact, he talks to the only person he can.
But it soon becomes clear that his captor wants something more from him.

The Elysium never reaches her destination.

His chances of survival are low, even on the miraculously habitable land he finds himself on — until he stumbles upon a group of primitive yet intelligent alien beings that are surprisingly human-like.
The Havrai, as they call themselves, might be human-like in appearance, but they couldn't be more different in culture and even biology. But Niko has no choice. They are his only chance at survival.
As the rest of his crew is searching for him, Niko discovers more about the Havrai, and the mysterious ancient ruins that surround them.
Not to mention the Havrian who insists that Niko is his mate.

NaNoWriMo 2022 Wip Intro: To Sing Again
As the daughter of sailors, Princess grew up on shanties and tales of the sea. Having fallen in love with the ocean from the stories told to her by her parents, she begs and begs to be taken sailing herself—and finally, her fathers agree. Everything goes wrong, however, when one of her dads is killed in a mysterious attack on their ship. Torn apart by grief, Creed takes his daughter home and tries his best to keep raising her on his own. But strange things keep happening to him—things that eventually prove his husband Blue is still around and refusing to move on after death. In his ghostly state, however, Blue is only capable of interacting with his husband—or, it turns out, those trained in dealing with undead.
Desperate to see her late father again, Princess enrolls in a school for grave clerics, where she’ll be taught to channel divine magic and guard the barrier between life and death, rejecting all that would blur that line. Secretly, though, Princess has her sights on something higher than holiness—she intends to uncover the lost magic of resurrection, and bring her father back to the realm of the living entirely. Meanwhile, Creed’s grief ferments into anger, and he’s determined to make those who would tear his family apart pay. But the events leading up to Blue’s death are shrouded in mystery, with no clear leads about the culprits or their motives. To get his revenge, Creed will need to do a lot of detective work first, and Blue’s new ghostly visage may come in handy for just that.

Hi, hello. Sorry for being late at responding. I would share but I've been bouncing around throughout the story so it's very messy but when I have 10 chapters that aren't riddled with unfinished scenes I'll begin posting since this got more eyes than I anticipated.
But here is a summary of the aro wip ATC until I can offer something tangible.
(I'm not very good at summarizing so you can imagine why it took me forever to respond.)
ATC plot summary

However, time won't wait for his decision. Because on one fateful day, when a mission goes array, Eldriel is forced to face who he truly is by a mysterious man known as E, from another dimension. And Romanin must face the fate he was given Or let those he loves and the universe as they know it crumble. If that wasn't hard enough, these bitter acquaintances have only each other to rely on when everyone around them would much rather see them kill each other.
Genre: New Adult Sci-fi/fantasy pretending to be romance in a trenchcoat.
Pov: 3rd person omniscient.
Other stuff in the wip.
⭐ Aroallo, AroAce, older and younger aromantics and other types of queer people.
⭐ Partial time loop shenanigans
⭐ Fate being in control of who you live is given a dark twist.
⭐ Fate vs. free will
⭐ Everyone has their own agenda.
Me having three wips that can best be described as aromantic rage because it is untouched in the book world and I feel like a lot of the aro community can relate to it
wip intro: carnival of the animals
hey guys im back at it again with some ✨ flash fiction✨ . this story is called “carnival of the animals” and it’s actually been submitted....😳 . i’m still waiting to hear back and it might be a couple months because the first submission i did (a few days ago) doesn’t accept simultaneous submissions. anyway. first thing i’ve ever submitted! yay! i’m excited to see what happens with it.
i wrote this a super long time ago, like summer 2018 or 2019 or something. then i redrafted it in summer 2019 and line edited it until it was ready for submission aka recently

the characters:
tj

- chaos personified. i have a lot of characters like that, but tj is by far The human iteration of chaos.
- she’s a lil bit mentally ill but refuses to accept it
- definitely a bit manipulative without realizing it
- pure of heart, dumb of ass
- seriously has so many issues
ezra

- so fucking sick of tj’s shit
- realizes he’s getting manipulated by tj but lets her parents and therapist handle it
- he’s such an enabler. if he just refused to go along with tj’s shit she’d probably stop but he’s so easily talked into things that he ends up doing it even if he doesn’t want to
- only ever present through the phone in the story
- catchphrase is: “I WILL NOT BE AN ACCOMPLICE”
monkey

- tj’s dog
- giant, fluffy
- lovable teddy bear
- great for cuddles
- neutral on all issues. true. neutral
plot:
it’s 3 am. tj really really really wants to go to the town fair. ezra really doesn’t want to.
that’s about it? it’s like 800 words it’s not exactly action packed but that’s what happens and i like the story a lot and i’m pretty proud of it so fingers crossed it gets published!
wip intro: the ribs of saint anthony
hey folks!!! i’m back with a new short story called the ribs of saint anthony. it’s all about that religious trauma and i lowkey highkey adore it

word count: currently it’s 1500 words because it’s for a competition with a word cap but i want to expand it and show more scenes in this story cause tbh i bet i could write it as an entire novel if i really tried.
plot: it follows a high school senior, jack, who’s coming to terms with the fact that he’s gay in a very religious, unaccepting society. his little sister eliza is about all that’s keeping him going, but even still, she’s like 8.
pov/tense: it’s first person (jack) present tense
characters: this is based on the current 1500 word draft, when it expands i’ll probably re-intro based on how much it changes hehe
jack:

-hates his mom, loves his dad
-unfortunately his dad is dead
-he’s really gotta get some friends cause his only friend is eliza and again, eliza’s like 8
-is convinced his ribs will randomly disappear
eliza:

-interprets the bible more realistically than anyone else
-intuitive to the point where it’s super creepy
-solid sense of whimsy
-way too optimistic to be hanging out with jack (seriously stop he’s not that cool)
---
and that would be the ribs of saint anthony!! submitting it to a contest this weekend and then afterwards i think i’ll send it through a round of submissions, then write the full thing that’ll probably be around 5-7k, hopefully more, and then put that edition out for submission. yay! new wip!
