Based on a true story

Hi. So I was minding my own business when my brain threw this thought at me:

"If Majora the eternatus and Cuddle Pup somehow had a kid, what would they look like?"

So uh yeah I had to draw

Most of these are just recolors because I couldn't decide on just one color pallet. I also made a single design for an eternatus with ninetales traits.

I know it not really obvious from the profile drawings, but the vulpix are supposed to be really glowy. So I made the sketch above to try and make that more obvious.

So basically I was thinking about how it's weird that I honestly realy like bulbasaur and ivysaur but don't like venusaur for some reason, so I decided why not lets draw a venusaur redesign.

Drawing this made me realize why I didn't care for venusaur's design: it loses the cute aspect of its pre evolutions. Bulbasaur and ivysaur are these lil happy flower frogs, and then venusaur is a deflated toad. So yeah mostly I just gave this a more ivysaur like face, made it less deflated, and then gave it vine hoop earrings cuz why not.

Alright, so when I saw piranha plant was now a ssbu fighter I decided to play a few rounds as the little carnivorous plant as a joke. Somehow I now main piranha plant. Anyways, so I was watching piranha plant's animations and I was trying to figure out what piranha plant was so deeply reminding me of, and then it hit me: piranha plant is just a strange dog. So I drew a thing.

This then lead to me drawing a piranha plant-dog based off of the 2 skins I usually use, and now it's an oc named sundew I guess

So... I get one of 2 reactions to this drawing; either it's neat or it's hella cursed.

And here is my original concept. I still like it, but it was cute instead of having the intimidation factor is needs to really feel like the mechanical hound of the book. So I started over with a different design.

A long while back I was talking to my girlfriend about various races and creatures in the loz series I would like to see make a return, and then I started drawing a bunch of them with various things from botw.

The new legendaries may be fascinating, sure. But can we please talk about the fact that there are pokemon that should be extinct just waltzing around in the crown tundra????? How? Why????

Decided to do a different redesign for the galar fossil pokemon. This time instead of recreating the origional pokemon, I just wanted to make them look less like they crave death.

POV: you’re professor Magnolia, just trying to research your groundbreaking study of the dynamax phenomenon, when the baffoon known as the chairman walks in with a small unidentified god and asks you for first time parenting advice.

Let’s talk about one of my many eternatus AUs. I don’t have a proper name for this AU, but in my notes I have it listed as “Rose gets a big ol’ dose of being a good dad”.

the AU starts out back when the dynamax phenomenon is still only just been discovered. Professor Magnolia is working with macro cosmos to develop the dynamax bands along with other related tech. So of course Rose has amassed a large number of wishing stars. And put most of them in a secure room for storage.

Now in case you don’t know, I personally headcanon that eternatus can be be built from wishing stars like zygarde is built from cells. So by leaving a ton of wishing stars in container Rose unintentionally creates a perfect scenario for eternatus to revive. Inevitably does in fact eternatus revive, and the sudden influx of energy this releases knocks out the security cams in the storage room. This triggers a security alarm, and the room goes into lock down.

Meanwhile, eternatus is attempting to reform its entire body. Problem is that while there were enough wishing stars to revive eternatus, there is not enough for eternatus to reconstruct itself at full size. It realizes this after temporarily becoming an unstable version of canon eternatus (think eternatus, but melting). So eternatus settles into a form it can sustain with its current number of wishing stars. That form happens to be a small baby eternatus.

At this point chairman Rose arrives along with security. Rose was anticipating intruders trying to steal the wishing stars, or possibly the aftermath of the wishing stars having a volitile reaction to something. Instead Rose finds the container that used to hold wishing stars seemingly exploided from the inside out, and a pokemon that his pokedex can’t identify. So while security tries to figure out what happened, Rose is tasked with taking care of eternatus. Oleana is the one who figures out that eternatus what happened to the wishing stars. She puts 2 and 2 together after finding out that pointing a power spot detector at eternatus causes the detector to go haywire. Rose then realizes that he unintentionally caused eternatus to exist and to take on full responsibility for its welfare.

Rose then realizes that he has no clue how to care for a previously undiscovered legendary and goes to professor Magnolia for help.

From there the AU is about Rose raising eternatus, adopting Bede, and taking on a bit of a father role for Leon. Basically instead of becoming a villain, Rose becomes everyone’s dad.

the conflict comes with Rose being aware that people with bad intentions would 100% take advantage of eternatus (who has been growing a lot in the past years), and so Rose is trying to balance his family time with Bede, his work responsibilities, and keeping Eternatus from being found by the public/an evil organization from finding out about it’s existence. Unfortunately for Rose, Sordward and Shielbert find out about eternatus.

Random notes

Rose first meets Leon due to eternatus wandering off and then running into Leon. Eternatus is usually skittish around strangers, but instantly warmed up to the future champion.

Bede specializes in fairy types because of growing up training with eternatus. 

If you’re wondering why Rose looks different in the drawing from how he looks in game, it’s because I loosely based his look off of a poster of a younger Rose you can find in spikemuth.

Bonus:

Yet more eternatus-sympathetic au content. Fun fact, I have already posted art about this AU before. Additionally, this au is actually related to another AU I have a post about. They both started with the same base concept but went in two different directions.

The short summary is basically eternatus escapes after being revived, ends up in the wild area and hangs out with a backpacker, gets befriended by Hop, eventually joining his team.

Anyways let's get to the AU. It starts off with eternatus reviving in a secure storage facility of macro cosmos. Eternatus has enough wishing stars to revive but not enough to rebuild itself at full size, resulting in eternatus becoming an unstable melty version of the skeleton it is in game. However before eternatus can reconfigure itself into a more stable form, chairman Rose and security guards arrive. Everyone freaks out and in the ensuing chaos eternatus escapes. Eventually eternatus ends up running to the wild area due to it being the place with the most wishing stars and pieces,  something eternatus really wants to so it can grow/rebuild itself. At some point during all of that eternatus turns back into a blob due to not being able to maintain a large form with the current amount of wishing stars it possesses. So eternatus reconfigures itself into a form it can actually support in its current condition. That happens to be a much smaller, younger version of it's true form.

A problem that eternatus runs into quickly is that the legendary can get hungry. And eternatus doesn't really know how to get food. What eternatus does know is that the backpackers that hang around the wild area keep food in their bags. And that the backpackers will give food to other humans in exchange for stuff.

This leads to eternatus making nightly raids on one specific ingredient vender's bag. Some would say that's stealing. Eternatus would argue it's not stealing if you leave shiny rocks as presents.

So after about a month of the poor dude being confused about waking up to his bag rummaged through and freaking gold nuggets being left in his lap, he comes up with a plan to catch whoever or whatever has been doing this. He didn't know what he was expecting, but a glowing pokemon the size of a wooloo was not it. The dude's response to this realization is to cook a massive pot of curry for eternatus. He immediately wins eternatus over with his amazing curry, and over time he gives eternatus a nickname based on it's favorite food: Noodles.

Eventually backpacker discovers that OH BOY Noodles is actually really strong. This leads to him being really worried for Noodles' wellbeing because what if a trainer encounters Noodles and tries to catch him and Noodles freaks out and then people come after the lil noodle child? What if Noodles get caught by a mean trainer?? Etc etc etc. eventually the backpacker decides to call up the best person in the region when it comes to strong pokemon- the champion Leon- for advice on what to do to protect Noodles.

Leon: what? an incredibly strong pokemon? Count me in I wanna meet it!

Sonia, overhearing Leon: what? an unidentified unique pokemon of unknown origin? Count me in I wanna meet it!

Hop, oblivious to the entire previous conversation: what? Leon's going somewhere? Count me in I wanna go wherever Leon is going!

Leon: wait, no-

After convincing Hop to stay home and then arriving at the wild are, Leon and Sonia meet noodles. Noodles is at first weary, but warms up to them. Mostly because Leon is a living ray of sunshine. Part of the solution that the backpacker and Leon come to in regards to protecting Noodles is having Leon and Sonia routinely checking in on Noodles.

Over time Hop gets extremely curious as to why Leon is spending so much time in the wild area, and one day decides to sneak into Leon's baggage to go with him. Literally. This leads to hop meeting Noodles, and the two instantly bond while Leon is still processing the fact that his little brother snuck into his luggage. Leon decides to let Hop continue to come with him (officially, not hidden in a bag) to see Noodles whenever Leon is checking in with them.

Fast forward to Hop getting a starter. Hop, who is now very close with Noodles, decides that the first thing he needs to do is introduce his new partner to Noodles and tell them the good news about getting Leon's endorsement.

Noodles' response to finding out that Hop is going on a journey is to go with Hop. Noodles makes its intentions very clear. Hop asks the backpacker for permission to catch Noodles, which he does give after making Hop swear on his life to take amazing care of Noodles.

From here the au follows Hop and eternatus (who in renamed Victor) as they go through the gym challenge.

Notes:

Victor/Gloria don't exist in this AU.

The Backpacker still calls eternatus Noodles after Hop catches them, and Hop calls them Noodles when the legendary is being a dork.

Rose is collecting wishing stars in hopes of finding eternatus. He isn't evil, he's just extremely concerned about the unidentified pokemon he accidentally unleashed on the world.

This AU does end with Hop becoming champion.

Bede calls Noodles a menace. Considering that noodles did in fact rip open his bag to get at the wishing stars he had in it, I can't really blame him...

I haven't come up with a name for the backpacker. I'm open to suggestions.

So, uh, I have a very self indulgent AU about Eternatus raising Rose. Basically I took the fact that the main bit of lore we have about Rose's past is that he used to work in coal mines and ran with it.

Now keep in mind that I came up with this AU pre the crown tundra being announced, so I haven't worked peony into this yet.

So the basic concept is that Rose is an orphan who was working in the coal mines. After a cave in separates Rose from the rest of the mines, he wanders until he runs into a strange cavern with an even stranger pokemon.

Instead of being out of comission, eternatus has been living deep inside caverns that are near the galar mines.

Eternatus takes one look at Rose and thinks "I guess I'm it's mom now". Cue the tooth rotting fluff.

Various notes:

Eventually people find Rose and eternatus. They almost get BBQ-ed when they tried taking Rose from eternatus.

Opal was sent in to try and solve the situation. It ends with eternatus and Opal co parenting Rose.

Eternatus gave Rose's copperajah the ability to gigantamax so it could protect Rose when eternatus wasn't around.

Rose still grows up to be the chairman. Oleana's job is basically to help remind Rose to human.

Rose actually is the person who owns the wild area technically. After hearing that a construction company was planning on bulldozing large parts of it, Rose said "absolutely not my adoptive pokemon mum lives there". So he buys it before the construction company can, and turns it into the wild are as we know it.

Rose adopts Bede. Eternatus and Opal are proud grandmothers who dote in Bede.

He's kinda sweet when he's sleepy. Don't tell him that though, he'll bite your head off for the offence of insinuating that he can be nice.

Decided to combine the markings of the fierce diety's mask and majora's mask.

Don't feel like doing proper shading and lighting right now so have this concept of a guardian wolf.

So I learned that one of the concept art designs for the master cycle zero was based off of a wolf. I looked at that and thought to myself "but what if you had a mechanical guardian wolf companion?" So I drew that. Maybe someday I'll come back and finish this.
