as a trans person living in the uk i always cringe a little whenever i c some1 in america call the uk "terf island" and act like it's all 1 entity and every country in the uk agrees and act like it's so much worse than the usa when some states in america still hav the trans panic clause, don't get me wrong the uk is full of terfs but it's got less open transphobia than the usa and it's not like the uk is more transphobic, it's just transphobic in a different way and that's w/out talking abt the americans on the dirtbag left who use it as an excuse 2 straight up dehumanize every1 living in the uk and make "jokes" abt nuking the whole place, not 2 mention i feel like a lot of ppl in the usa 4get that not everywhere in the uk agrees and scotland is still currently [unfortunately] part of the uk, i live in scotland and in terms of legal stuff im a lot less scared living here than i would b in the usa, im honestly so sick of hearing americans say that transphobia is more prevalent here than it is where they live, it honestly just feels like they r using it as an excuse 2 point fingers instead of dealing w/ their own country's problems

i was 2day years old when i found out that the term "femme" is not just specifically 4 lesbians but 4 any queer person of any gender who connects w/ the term [link here] and so now it's time once again 2 figure out if a term the straights said wasn't 4 me applies 2 me or not

but ppl still think it's "white passing privilege" and not "white passing erasure" huh* im so sick of seeing this shit constantly every time ppl like me r brought up i don't consider myself white passing bc i hate the term 4 a bunch of reasons but a big 1 is that it seems 2 just b used against light skin mixed ppl [especially those of us mixed w/ white] 2 try 2 shove us out of the poc community ppl don't want 2 acknowledge that we exist or experience racism but we do, ur problem is that u only c colourism and not other forms of racism like featurism not 2 mention how being mixed w/ white especially can mean dealing w/ racism from within ur own family and then u try 2 go 2 the poc community, ur community that white ppl hav told u countless times 2 stay away from and after finally realising that u do belong and working up the courage 2 go 2 that community u get told that "no, ur 2 white 4 us" and then on top of that when u finally get some form of rep in media it's all "this doesn't add diversity" and "this isn't real poc rep" and once again pitting us against our own community, so sick of this bs *it's not a privilege 2 hav 2 deal w/ a lifetime of being poc enough 2 experience racism but 2 white 2 hav those experiences acknowledged and it's not a privilege 2 b looked down upon by ur own community in the same way and having every1 tell u ur "basically white" while also getting shit 4 having different hair or a different body type which u hav bc ur mixed or getting called mixed specific racial slurs, lowkey "white passing privilege" imo is just the same as "straight passing privilege" it's just used 2 b shitty 2 ppl within our own communities and it's not as much of a privilege as ppl like 2 make it out 2 b
