It Actually Horrifies How Normalized It Is To Ground Children. And I'm Not Saying There's Not A Time

It actually horrifies how normalized it is to ground children. And I'm not saying there's not a time and place for it, that being when it correlates to the offense. Natural consequences are great tecahing tools. I am saying that I find it disturbing how so often a parent's first instinct is to isolate their child from their support system whenever that child displeases them. And if that doesn't satisfy them, they'll take away anything they can think of that makes their child happy. Usually that's an electronic, since a kid can use that to contact their support system. I've been grounded and had my phone taken a few times. It only made me resent my parents more. It didn't teach me anything except how to take my phone back, hide it well, and replace it the day before I was set to get it back. My parents still don't know I did that.

Something I think about a lot whenever people say that their children's autism just showed up out of nowhere, is that lots of autistic traits are considered normal for a while.

Picky eating, meltdowns, not picking up on social cues, and taking things literally are all typical child behaviors- up to a point. Autism is literally a developmental disorder, yet people expect it to be obvious from the get go.

Their symptoms didn't come out of nowhere, though. They were always there, they were just normal kid stuff for a while.

As an asexual person nothing pisses me off more than people saying asexual when they mean aromantic. Like I can't have one without the other? Stfu and watch me.

Yeah I never wanna have sex, but I'm literally in a comitted relationship and it makes me feel so invalidated when people call aro people ace because that implies if you don't like sex you must not be capable of romantic love, which I very much am.

Marine Biologist Percy this, Stay at Home Husband Percy that, it doesn't matter. If you ask him what his job is he'll tell you that taking care of Annabeth is his full time job.

Because Annabeth Chase is a feral autistic workaholic who never takes care of herself and probably doesn't know how to make anything more complicated than scrambled eggs. It's up to Percy to make sure she eats and sleeps and washes her hair.

Couldnt have said it better myself

Legit i am tired of virginity being mocked even in progressive spaces and media. No means no until you say no one too many times, until they realize it’s going to be a no forever. Everyone understands pressuring people into having sex is bad until you’re pressuring someone to have sex just once, just to try it, because are you sure you don’t want it. How can you know if you’ve never tried it? It’s suddenly fine to pressure people into having sex as long as it’s not sex with you but someone else. If you’re a virgin it’s immediately assumed it’s because no one wants you; not because of individual choice; not because of your right to consent. You spend your adolescence being told being a virgin is bad by your peers and media depicting your age group is all about sex and dating. Books, fanfiction and tv all have a scene where the bestie mocks the main character for being a virgin, a problem that must be fixed. In kinder spaces you may be told it’s fine to be a virgin in your twenties - that it is normal. But what about your 30s? Your 40s? You’re a woman and a virgin-you’re repressed. You’re a man and you’re a virgin-there must be something wrong with you. Virgins are a tragedy, pathetic, sad, ugly, weird, and unwanted. Everyone you hate is a virgin.

edit- just in case since this keeps getting notes:
