Things I Want People To Know And Accept:
Things I want people to know and accept:
Marriage is not for everyone
Children are human beings and not resources to be used
Not all children are biological
Assuming that all the people who don't want to get married are only doing it bc they love their phones is dumb
Romance and sex are not necessary for a happy life
No one has the right to force anyone to marry
Pregnancy and raising children are not easy choices to make and have severe consequences if not taken seriously

so I’ve been rereading c&p (I’ve been stressed out lately and decided that would fix me) and am once again in awe of dostoevsky’s characterization. like obviously there’s raskolnikov and all his eccentricities that make him relatable in spite of himself. and razumikhin with his indomitable optimism and cute little colloquialisms (we do want money like a bear wants molasses you’re so right my friend). and nastasya who pokes fun at raskolnikov but still brings him meals even when the landlady tells her not to. the landlady doesn’t even appear other than peeking through the door and dostoevsky still gives her her due. and dunya who’s a paradoxical mix of coolness and tenderness (she is a raskolnikov after all). and don’t get me started on sonya who fills a trope in the story but is then made to feel the weight of it. and pulcheria and lizaveta and even I would argue alyona ivanovna plus many others I’m not mentioning. like who would want to be an extraordinary man when the ordinary ones are so much richer
Thank you for saying this. When people (especially non-aspec people) use the 'aros can still date' and 'aces can have sex' excuses, 90% of the time they just want an excuse to shoehorn aro/ace characters into a conventional relationship without any regard for how their orientation can impact their relationships and their view on it.
Just a reminder, not every asexual character is sex positive. Not every aro character wants/can still date.
I feel like every single time a character is asexual or ace/aro coded every single person in fandom has to RUSH to say “bUt SoMe AsExUaLs HaVe SeX” “sOmE aRoS sTiLl DaTe”
No fucking shit. I’m a sex positive ace on the aro spectrum.
But I am fucking TIRED of y’all screaming about “spectrum” but y’all only want to acknowledge the half that does fuck.
You don’t have to hc every asexual character as sex positive just so you can personally sexualize them for you to get off to 💜 and not every aro character needs to still date someone to satisfy your ship
Let some ace/aro characters exist without y’all being weirdly sexual about them thanks
Alyosha: Would you like something to drink? *They open the fridge* We have water, milk, juice, spiders, wine-
Ivan: Spiders?
Alyosha: Spiders it is then.
Ivan: No, that wasn't-
*but Alyosha was already pouring him a brimming glass of spiders*

If you are any of the above, I will block you on sight
Personally, I don't get how people see Dostoyevsky as a really depressing author because TBK and C&P were some of the funniest books I've ever read
