⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ - DISTURBING MISUSE OF POWER AND PHYSICAL ABUSE.
If people ever ask me why I hate cops, just know this disgusting behavior did not face the criminal consequences it deserved. He deserved 10 years in jail at least for assault, and breaking that man’s skull and collarbone. And just consider too he probably got in trouble with work, and the medical bills either he or his family would have to pay if he lacked insurance - and even if they did.
"juSt ComPLY YoU WOnT gEt HuRt!!"
Well, he was complying, and the cop still broke his skull and collarbone.

If he was NOT the suspect for the crime he was accused of committing, WHAT "OBSTRUCTION" OF "JUSTICE" IS THERE? they're admitting he's innocent, but that he's also still guilty of.... fuck him right?
Nah, just the state reminding you that even if they're wrong, you're still getting punished for even suggesting your innocent.
If cops actually wanted to protect you, they'd work towards abolishing qualified immunity.
So I've been watching this new crime show on TV, new mild hyperfixation, great show. But there was an episode I just finished about a judge using a police squad as a hit team to kill a city planner. Great episode, but it ended with a disclaimer saying all the previous events were fiction. And what fucked me up is that if that disclaimer hadn't been there, I would've believed it could've been real. The abuse of the judicial system against marginalized people is so common place that it's easy to believe that a show written to be as outlandishly interesting as possible just seems like normal every day. Fuck the cops. Fuck corruption

they could never make me trust cops
[Sangamon County, USA]
Sonya Massey called the police regarding a prowler.
They came over and murdered her.
They tried to cover it up, saying she was attacking them with a pot of hot water.
Deputy Sean P. Grayson was unaware that his partner had turned his camera back on.
This isn't bad apples. This is police.

Do not ignore what is going on in the Philippines.

An human rights worker named Reina Mae Nasino was jailed and wrongfully accused for owning firearms. She was pregnant by the time she was jailed and gave birth in prison.
At this point, Reina Mae Nasino wasn’t given proper care in prison and was only given one medical visit. Reina gave birth to a girl named River but the lack of prenatal care caused the child to have a low weight and skin discoloration. Nasino also had difficulty breastfeeding her and wasn’t getting any assistance for her child. The counsels asked for the baby to be transferred to a hospital for her care but it was denied by the court.
On October 9, River died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome. She was only 3 months old.
Reina Mae Nasino was supposed to have 3 days to say goodbye but the Court Judge revised it and made it 6 hours, 3 hours for the wake and 3 hours for the funeral. She wasn’t allowed a peaceful grieving as dozens of police and jail guards swarmed the area. On October 14, Reina Mae attended River’s wake in full PPE and handcuffs, surrounded by guards because she was labelled a high profile criminal. The guards tried to cut her time with her child short as they tried to drag her away 2 hours before the visiting time was up. She was also not allowed to take off her handcuffs.

October 16, the day River was to be buried. The funeral wasn’t peaceful or respectful as the police swarmed and guarded the area. The car carrying River sped to the cemetery, not giving time for her family and supporters to catch up. The relatives begged on their knees for the guards to remove Reina’s handcuffs so she can hold her child one last time but they refused.

She wasn’t allowed a peaceful goodbye to her child.
She never even heard her child laugh once.
Reina Mae Nasino is not a criminal. She is a political prisoner and an activist who was treated terribly by the police and the justice system.
They killed her child.

There are over 600+ political prisoners like her in the Philippines that are subject to inhumane treatment due to the Duterte Administration and its disregard for the poor and disenfranchised. Baby River is not the only child who died due to the lack of care by the government.
Activists in the Philippines are getting killed, red tagged and treated as terrorists.
Do not ignore this. We need to be heard.
The Hate U Give Review (From the Perspective of a black person)
Yes, I know I am not a book review blog.
The Hate U Give. As Starr so elegantly puts the ending, ho-ly shit. Spoiler Alert! Turn back if you haven’t read the book! You should read it! Wether you’re black, white, or any other race! And don’t pull that “I’ve seen the movie” shit either. The book is worth it.
First I want to commend Ms. Angie Thomas. The bravery it takes to take what we black Americans live and publish it. To put the truth into the world, that is something I don’t think I could manage.
Secondly, the WRITING. From the moment I turned to the second page, I knew how impeccable the writing was. Khalil’s death hit me hard. I have chosen, since I got out of the hood, to pretend. Pretend that none of the shit I lived through never happened. I hid the way I was raised to talk, changed what I listened to, fixed my posture, hid my hair, anything to convince white people I was normal.
Khalil’s death. Natasha’s death. Domestic abuse. Gangs. Street territory. Media painting the hood as another world. I don’t think I’ve ever cried over a book before. And that’s saying something. My family blames my period. This book had me crying every time Starr did. Had me laughing with her. And maybe that’s because I identify so heavily with her. That I know what it’s like to want to hide your “hood” from a significant other. That I know what it’s like to hold someone as they die. That I’m tired of fear. That I’ve had racist friends who consider me an “exception”.
Some characters who I think deserve more attention and therefore I will give them it.
Iesha and Brenda. Everything I say applies to both of them and that shit is sad. She was ghetto. She was tacky. She was an all around bitch, and horrible to her kids. But goddamnit, she fought. She tried to do right by them kids, even if she went about it wrong.
Cameron. This boy is nine years old. His mom if a fucking crackhead. His grandmother has cancer and just lost her damn job. His brother was shot. Over a hairbrush. Cameron is a strong young man. I could read a whole sequel about him.
Lyric. Lyric is a little girl in a domestic abuse situation. I think that is all I need to say.
I want to say more, but that’s all for now. (Maybe I’ll do a follow-up later. It’s 1am and I just finished the book, I bought it at 7pm.)
Cops can be nice. Anyone can be nice. Knowing a cop or two that are fun to hang out with or treat you well doesn't mean that there aren't dark sides. Maybe some cops want to protect people. Maybe there are some that genuinely want to help people. But at the same time they're willing to overlook the corruption of the government and their organizations. Cops turning their heads away from the corrupt cops further the corruption and are just as much of a problem. So yes. All cops are in fact bastards. Even the ones that appear to have good intentions.
Making oink oink sounds when I drive past cops gives me n unreasonable amount of seretonin
well since we're all going to be criminals right quick who wants to arson a police office?
I wish it wasn't illegal for people to flirt with me
The Thin Blue Line
Once I believed in that thin blue line.
A fragile wall holding back the chaos-tide.
Now. Older. Barely wiser.
I look closer at the line.
A blue wire, barbs intertwined.
Specked with drops of crimson to that sharper eye.
Calling to mind a hangman's noose.
Or the rope that holds the guillotine.
