i would pay so much money to see the last chapter of moa in percy's perspective. i need to see him anxiously awaiting annabeth's return. i need to see him silently cry into her hair when she falls apart in his arms. i need to see him beaming with pride when she describes how she completed a quest no child of athena ever could. but for the love of god. i need see to him experience all five stages of grief the second he sees annabeth being dragged into the pit. i need to see him pray to every god and goddess in existence that he reaches her in time. i need to see him look into annabeth's eyes and come to terms with the notion that they might never come back from this. and i need to see him confess that he'd relive every awful moment of his life if it meant that they were together in their dying moments.

i know half of camp bullies her everyday when percy’s at school during the year and she’s sat at that jank ass computer in the big house exchanging emails

she probably drafts them up in a notebook before she rewrites them in the actual email after she hogged the computer one day trying to figure out what to say and her siblings with snatch up the journal and start reading the drafts aloud when she won’t give them attention

I just remembered something, so annabeths ankle was still broken when she went into Tartarus right? Like yes it was healing but it still hurt a lot and Arachne being attached to it + falling into Tartarus definitely didn’t help, and we see in house of hades that she occasionally feels ankle pain even with her ankle healed, so that means the ankle probably didn’t heal completely/properly causing her to still suffer from ankle pain long after leaving Tartarus, idrk how to transition from that into what I was gonna say but basically I was thinking that since she has ankle pain and probably will for a while if not the rest of her life I propose: cane user annabeth, I think it’d be cool to kinda show how the mark of Athena quest + falling into Tartarus affected her in the long run by having her use a cane to alleviate some of the pain in her ankle

I've talked about this before, and I'll say it again and again, it bothers me how much Rick lays the foundation for talking about trauma and then just ignores it. Like bro made the choice to make it traumatizing but then doesn't talk about it. For instance, multiple characters grew up with food insecurity, Annabeth was on the streets, Hazel was in poverty, etc, but Rick doesn't ever talk about that. What about hoarding tendencies? What about carrying food with them all the time, or buying more food than they need whenever they have money? Or eating a lot whenever food is provided? Or eating disorders? Or another example, the abuse? Annabeth was verbally/emotionally abused growing up, why would she use an insult as a nickname for Percy? And he was also abused, why would he be comfortable and appreciate the nickname? Or what about physical abuse? What about flinching or shutting down? What about triggers? What about different relationships among the 7, kids who share triggers protecting each other and looking out for each other?

Tldr; Rick Riordan mentions a lot of things that cause trauma and then never brings it up again. He uses trauma for the plot and not the characters. He doesn't use the foundation he laid.

Round 378 of things I don't like about pjo. I love these books, I want to be clear about that. But it's gets on my nerves how Rick uses romance. Why does every girl show appreciation by kissing guys on the cheek? I've literally never once seen a girl do that. But Rick LOVES using that as "connection" between characters. Why are there so few characters who aren't in relationships?? Off the top of my head, Chiron and Reyna are the only two I can think of who aren't in relationships and I might be wrong about Reyna. Why did the 7 not bond more with each other? Why did they just separate into couples?? Low-key I feel like Jason and Nico are the only 2 who seemed to have a relationship, and that was mostly later later, AND Jason died, so. Proof that having non romantic relationships kills you I guess.

Closely related to his use of romance is his use of jealousy. If someone knows why every girl is jealous, please let me know because again, because I've known a lot of girls, and jealousy is done poorly imo in pjo. Why is every girl jealous? Are they all that insecure? Why can't he use jealousy as a trait of a couple characters and not give it to ALL of the girls??

Friendly reminder that in The Son Of Neptune, Frank says a HARPY did something that was smart and Hazel glares at him and avoids interacting with him. Like what?? Did Hazel have to get MAD at that?? Where are the girls girls? And what about acknowledging other people/beings' strengths??
