Day two of Goretober: Dissection
TW: Nudity, Blood, Light Gore
forbidden flesh
It's still beating! Somehow! (:
It's not alive anymore, but I don't think that matters anymore! That, and that there's no real blood in it...
Doing some Frankenstein-inspired stuff before I get around to reading the book. I thought the blue would look nice with the meat. The heart + it's color palette was based off one from a dissection lab I was in a few months ago.
Critique is welcome, and the ID is under the cut!
[ID: A digital drawing of an anatomically correct heart. The lower portion is sewn together, and silver staples are holding the three separate pieces together. The different blood vessels have been cut, and some have small silver pipes leading from them, or are dripping a blue fluid. The same blue fluid is running through two small tubes that enter the ventricles of the heart. The muscles are dull, and slightly grey. Where pieces have been attached to each other, it's red and irritated. End ID]
I don't know if anyone else will find this particularly useful, but Stanford University has a publicly available collection of pictures from human dissections!
They're sorted by part of the body, and from what I can tell, all the images are labeled. Just remember that these are dissection pictures, and may not be suitable for all audiences.
I love dissections
Thinking about Danny Phantom but as found footage/analogue horror. Like, it works SO incredibly well and I'm a bit obsessed.
Inexplicably grainy FentonWorks lab footage? A ghost dissection video log that gets more disturbing the longer it goes on? Ambiguous morality? Distorted imagery? Something being very, very wrong with the Fenton's son?
The proto-portal test footage from the 80s???? followed by hospital quarantine reports describing what a fatal dose of ecto-contaminants looks like? Which is then interrupted by Ṽ̵͇͍̓̒̕l̷̛͕̜̞̬͒̔͑̾̊͊a̷̝̰͕̗͇̣̓́́d̶̢̬̳̗̻̖̄̒̓̈́͌̚̕ ̴̡̛̱̱́́͆͠ͅw̷͎̬̠͒̐́̈́̈̇̚ā̵̢̢̛͔͙́͒̚͝k̴̡̹̘̻̜͇̬̍̏̄͂̊̀͠i̸̙͋͗̄ṅ̸̢̳̻̠̦̬͌̍͐͐̅͠g̶͇̥̮̦̗͑̃͘ ̶̨̏̈́̆͠ṳ̷͉̩̮̙̄̇͜p̸̧̡̹̗͇͘ and turning the hospital upside down?
Dissecting Owl Vomit
Owl pellets = owl barf. It’s a cereal of fur, claws, teeth, and bones in a nice, neat package covered with a thin film of owl saliva. Opening it is the most morbid art project ever, but it’s worth it because the accomplishment you feel when you haven’t cracked every bone is so, so sweet. Just look at that beautiful, mostly-not-cracked rodent skull. The little dear.
Owl guts have serious organization skills.
Fur. Fur everywhere. Remains of rodent is rampant in all the places.
So last Monday we had a heart dissection in teams of two.
I was with my best friend but here’s the thing:
Last year she fainted while the teacher was just talking about blood. No images or anything, just words.
So of course when a real bloody heart gets dumped on a plate in front of her, her eyes start watering, and one concerned classmate tried to tell her it would be alright while i went to get our equipment.
I ended up doing the dissection alone, and believe me when i say i enjoyed this.
For some weird reason having a heart in front of me and being allowed to cut it open made me feel that much closer to Enoch.
you know, i wouldn’t have any issue dissecting a chicken foot if i didn’t already feel like throwing up and IF I WAS GIVEN ANY SORT OF WARNING
i was not told this was happening. now i’m trying not to cry in the corner of the room.
"I have butchered many men. All are innocent and equaled when they are on the table. All are exquisite and grotesque."
Dr. Spencer Black
The book is called "The Resurrectionist" by E.B. Hudspeth
"Quaestor Valdemar wasn’t interested in people in general. But suddenly a young man came into their dungeons, barehanded, with an armful of deadly aconites and a desperate look in his eyes. They couldn’t resist. Doctor № 069 became their favorite – object of studies, of course – and, oh, he was so willing to assist them."

Blood Worship
Death's Omnipotence
Released: June 15, 2018
This debut from Stockholm, Sweden based black metallers Blood Worship is one of my top albums this year. Blazing black metal in the traditional Swedish style, this album is precisely on-point, from the riffs to the vocals to the drumming.
If you're a fan of Dark Funeral, Dissection, or Watain, you really need to hear this album. It worships its stylistic forefathers while pummeling you with one fantastic riff after another, sucking you in from beginning to end. Also featured on drums is David Folchitto, newest addition to the mighty death metal band Fleshgod Apocalypse's lineup.
My favorite track is probably Rites of the Inner Shrine, but honestly all four tracks are absolutely killer.
You can pick it up via their bandcamp page.
