Hazbin Hotel Theories - Tumblr Posts

Everything I've seen and read has gone on the assumption that a deal is broken if a sinner who sold their soul is redeemed. But what if it isn't? What if whoever owned them in Hell still owns them?

That would make overlords so much more dangerous to have winners at their disposal. That also brings into question whether or not what they're forced to do by their souls' owners counts towards their status as a winner/sinner, since it wasn't by choice.

Ok so we know Vaggie is Hispanic, which means she was probably alive. But Adam named her Vaggie, and if she really wanted to distance herself from her angelic past, wouldn't she just go back to using her name from when she was alive instead of continuing to use Vaggie?

Which brings me to this: I think Heaven takes women and makes it so they don't remember anything from when they were alive. They don't remember any of the experiences that made them who they are or what they thought about humanity as a whole.

This makes them easier to manipulate and to get them to do things like the Exterminations as a result.

This is why Vaggie doesn't use a different name - she doesn't even remember that she used to be called something else.

And she doesn't remember her family or friends or anyone she cared about and who cared about her 🥺

I think every time you die "for good," you go through divine judgement. You're not constantly being judged throughout your afterlife, which is why the exorcists and Adam never fell.

The only way we've seen an angel fall so far is when other angels have decided it. The other angels threw Lucifer out, and Lute was the one who tore off Vaggie's halo and wings.

This is why Sir Pentious made it to heaven - he became a good person, and then he died (for good since sinners do regenerate/respawn if killed normally).

And I hate Adam with a passion, but unfortunately, I do believe he will be coming back as a sinner in the next season to help Charlie and the gang figure out how redemption can work, since they'll realize you have to die again to be judged again.

This also raises the question of how redemption at the hotel would work. Like, when they think someone is redeemed, will they just be like "okay we're gonna kill you now, hope we're right!" or something? Something tells me Alastor would love to be in charge of killing... (He's never getting redeemed lol)

Yes please share with the rest of the class!

I love reading and theorising and analysing. Hazbin is so chalk full of details, hints and nuance, it's a feast for the brain!

But also: Whenever someone on the internet goes "[...]I may have deciphered Alastor's motivations completely, with zero holes in the theory", my brain goes:

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! 😂

I'm positively itching to read your theory now and see if it matches up with what I've gotten from the hints and foreshadowing so far!

!!! PLEASE READ, ALL I NEED IS YOUR OPINION ON SOMETHING COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL !!!

Hello! I am currently planning out and developing a Hazbin Hotel analysis/(video?) essay/theory that will likely be a very long, taxing, thorough project. I think that it's possible that I may have deciphered Alastor's motivations completely, with zero holes in the theory that I've noticed as of yet, as well as predicted his entire future character arc and fate as a result. It's something hidden in plain sight that no one else (as to my knowledge) has fully deciphered the overarching significance of yet. However, I believe that the writers' intent was to have it be foreshadowed, but to have nobody connect the dots as it's unexpected and a twist that will be executed in a way that is completely unique and (to my knowledge) unprecedented in any story ever before seen. This uniqueness means that they have the ability to foreshadow with a massive level of safety, and they likely have zero expectations for anyone to figure out too many of the specifics, especially this early. It would be insanely skilled, creative storywriting if true, everything we know about Alastor reiterates it, and nothing we've seen so far contradicts it either, at least as far as I've noticed without the time-consuming fact checking that would be required to present this theory in its most developed state.

As a writer myself, my question is whether or not sharing it this early would spoil his twist and the writers' hard work (should I end up being correct) and end up being disrespectful, or if catching on this early, dissecting it, and sharing proof would be a token of respect to the effort and display of skill that it takes to think of this and write it out so seamlessly. Furthermore, consider whether or not this could slow down the steam of Hazbin fan theories at large or reduce the impact of this twist, which would both be bad for the show's hype, long-term lifespan, and financial success.

Regardless of your faith in whether or not I have enough information currently to be correct in whatever prediction I make, it's important that you answer as though there is potential that it could turn out to be true. There is no way for me to be confident that I am right since it's just a theory, and anything can change going forward. But I do not want to interfere with the impact/weight this twist would have if it turned out to be true, so I'd much rather be safe.

It's also worth noting that a lot of the key elements regarding what I believe is going to happen plot-wise have already been predicted, shared, and have gained fanon popularity, it's just that without a solid answer to why Alastor is the way he is, he is entirely unpredictable and all current ideas about his fate are up in the air. My theory's main idea is to provide plausible reasoning for his actions, but the reasoning is so straightforward and easy to understand (once you've spotted it, that is) that it would make what would redeem him, what makes him tick, his intentions, etc. just as straightforward near-instantly.

Thank you! I hope that was not too rambley, I was trying very hard to give the necessary details while still keeping it vague enough to avoid defeating the purpose of the post!

Edit: Nearly forgot to add that the details of this theory could render moot nearly every justification to speculate on/modify Alastor's place on the aro/ace spectrum within fanon, which could result in tangible improvement in the willful lack of understanding that aroace people in the Hazbin Hotel community are experiencing. It may be arguable that the proactive resolution/vast improvement of this issue is more important than any implications it could have for the show's material success.

So,

(Please reblog this if you answer! I would really, really appreciate it! Also, if you are a fellow writer and/or aroace, your opinion is extra appreciated. If you think it could negatively affect the show's impact, but that there are ways I could go about sharing the theory that would prevent or minimize this, please let me know!)

Awesome headcanon!

I've been thinking about that whole 'Hell is a musical' for a while, too. I find it super funny to think about that some people might be actively more inclined to start songs but might not have enough power to do it. So a newly arrived Sinner is probably always more susceptible to getting swept up as a background extra in a songe someone else initiated.

But once someone gets more powerful they will eventually have enough 'magic' to initiate songs of their own and that's where their leitmotifs start to emerge, too.

a very fun worldbuilding quirk that would suit hazbin hotel is if the whole show operated on musical logic but was self-aware about it. there are elements of this already, like vaggie begging charlie not to sing and the sharks exclaiming "they're fucking singing?" after loser baby, but i think it would be even more fun if characters actively acknowledged when they hear strains of music coming in when a song is about to start, where demons who are new to hell have to adjust to the fact that at any moment, they might burst into song without meaning to, or get swept up in a choreographed street performance that someone else set off. people having their own unique leitmotifs that blend with others depending on their relationships or mood, duets springing up between compatible voices on the fly.

alastor's insistence on reprising or crashing other demons' songs being characterized as rude or untrustworthy because what kind of dick steals your own lyrics and sings them better? what kind of demon doesn't have his own tune? vaggie being exempt from the compulsion because she's an angel, but learning to find her voice for charlie's sake so that they can sing together. angel dust only ever singing backup vocals for val bc he's val's property, and then being elated when husk draws him into a duet where their voices have equal strength. the vees bursting into "spontaneous" trios as a marketing ploy. when people sell or lose their souls, their leitmotif becomes subsumed under the melodies of their contractor. alastor only singing his own theme when he's alone; charlie humming her motif constantly, no matter where she is. lucifer forgetting the lyrics to his songs the more depressed he becomes, and rediscovering them again when he reconciles with charlie.

just, hell with an inescapable, compulsory musical culture that everyone is aware of.

Thinking about how the new Hotel was probably still pretty barren on the inside during the 'Finale' when they were singing on the outside. That's just how most constructions go down. The scene at the end where we get to see the fascade of the new Hotel feels very much like a slightly more elaborate 'topping out ceremony'.

So just think about how many appliances, tools and funiture would be needed for a place like this. Does make you wonder where that would all come from (short of Lucifer just using creation magic to poof it into existence).

I wonder if Charlie or someone else would have been willing to 'pay a favor forward' by contracting as many things from the Pride Ring internally as possible. Yes, most things in Hell are manufactured in the Lust Ring, but I can't help but think that there must be some economies in every Ring that just do small locally produced items. Like... The things in Rosie's emporium must come from somewhere, right?

So I think maybe there are some small local productions all around the Pride Ring. Someone made that bood soda. Someone made those little shrunkend head keychains.

What I'm saying is: it would be a very good move (PR wise and in terms of forming connections) to, say, contract the Cannibal Town cutler to make all the flatware and kitchen utensils. At the same time have everything be stamped with the Hazbin Hotel logo and a 'Made in Pride' sign. Since most things in Hell are earth-adjacent, I think the 'Made in -' signatures are probably also a thing there. ESPECIALLY since Sinners are maligned throughout the Rings.

Power move for the Princess of Hell to go: yea we use locally produced wares as much as possible, thank you very much.

Also funneling funds back towards Cannibal Town and Carmine Industries and by extension to Rosie and Carmilla.

AND THEN you can very pointedly NOT buy any VoxTek products but buy it from any of the (probably numerous) tech companies throughout the Rings.

Hiya! It's been awhile...and this isn't a fic prompt lol

Anywho, I've been watching Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. And I haven't seen almost anyone with the EXACT same theory as me. So, I'm going to get into it here lmao

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead! Heed With Caution!

Okay so, a lot of people also think that the mysterious Lilith has Alastor's soul (this isn't my whole theory just the basis). I do too and I'll present you with evidence I have collected:

Alastor and Lilith have both been gone for seven years.

There is a rumor that Alastor 'fell into holy arms' according to Zestial. And who do we know is in heaven? That's right, Lilith.

Now, time for the rest of my theory! During Alastor's fight with Adam to me it seems that Alastor isn't fighting at full power. Also after their fight he had a breakdown and started singing about the deal he made. Kinda out of nowhere if you haven't seen the light like I have lol! And I have considered that the shield might have taken a lot out of him. And that he was singing about wanting his freedom bc he was almost double dead. But I don't think that is completely the case here.

Do you remember the show of power he displayed when Mimzy brought trouble to the hotel's doorstep? He turned into a giant! Not only that but he was also using his shadow magic! And after a whole music number that he used his powers for! Here's a pic if you don't (I couldn't find a gif)!

Hiya! It's Been Awhile...and This Isn't A Fic Prompt Lol

And in the finale we learn that Lilith has a deal with Adam. So, I believe that due to the constraints of Alastor's deal with Lilith he couldn't kill Adam.

Boom, now you too have seen the light lmao, you're welcome
