Like Icarus and Apollo

we could be in love

like Icarus and Apollo

you could be the sun

and i could be the one

who flies so close

that my wings get burn

but deep down

i knew that i was going to fall

cause if i say "i love you"

you would say "leave me alone"

and i loved you

like Icarus loved the sun

i loved you too close

i loved you too much

and i loved you

like a mortal loves a god

i know you don't love me at all

but i still cry when i get hurt

By me. Pls tell me if you think i should turn It into a song. I hope you liked it

Inside the mind of Icarus

I remember  spreading my wings  and letting myself fall.

I remember  the feeling of joy and freedom  that flying brought me as I soared into the sky. I remember the agony and shock and fear as I turned to the sun and asked for mercy. And I remember  an elegant bow and golden hair And your eyes.  Scared. powerful in pain beautiful.

And I smiled.  I spread my arms and let myself fall, to wherever death would take me next. But I never closed my eyes.

I crashed into the ocean.  And deeper than where I rested in the sea, where the wax seared my skin, lie your eyes forever burned  into my soul.

The sun continues to rise but it lacks the life it used to possess

“Your name is Icarus and you will do anything you can to reach him You fly high Your waxen wings feeling as sturdy as steel as you soar into the clouds Reaching for the sun

Your name is Apollo and you reach down Trying to catch the boy flying towards you His skin is dark and his hair a mess of curls and you hope You hope that this angel’s wings will hold

Your name is Icarus and you will be damned if your father does not approve His wings have long since failed him and his life has no say in yours You stare straight into the sun knowing that even if it blinds you it will be the most beautiful thing You will ever see

Your name is Apollo and you are the sun that shines and the bird that sings and you will not See this boy fall Your only desire is to hold him Your only want is to touch him Your only prayer is to feel him Him Him Him

Your name is Icarus and you tried to reach for god You try to meet him even when you know you could burn You know you could fall All you want is to hold his hand in your palm His lips against yours His breath on your neck His His His

Your name is Apollo and you have fallen for Icarus

Your name is Icarus and you have flown too close to the sun

Your name is Apollo and you will catch him

Your name is Icarus and you cannot be caught

Your name is Apollo and godhood is not worth this

Your names are Icarus and Apollo and you are a boy and the sun

Your names are Icarus and Apollo and the ocean boils around you

Your names are Icarus and Apollo and you finally are able to hold, to touch, to feel

Your names are Icarus and Apollo and you have no need to be the world’s sons as long as you have each other

Your name is Icarus and you have grasped the sun

Your name is Apollo and you have caught him”

Love as Icarus did the sun

Daedalus saw the depth of his son,

Of his love.

He was kind

And so full of life, he shone

Like the sun on the darkest of days,

The only reason to hope.

The calm before the storm,

Some called it.

The call of the void, to others.

All he knew, is that Icarus goes above and beyond—

give him an inch, and he'll take it a mile.

Icarus fell.

He was falling. Plummbeting.

Tumbling, dropping, flailing-

In laughter, he soared.

And in that moment—he was flying

Amongst the gods

And between their domains.

Punished for his father's crimes,

He longed for the freedom.

Carved into his spine

Through love and devotion.

Moulded to him

To prove the care of a parent,

Yet too much he longed

To hold that which he craved like a partner,

The burning star

Of a long overdue supernova

That ignites the sky as much as his heart.

To feel the golden rays and pink hues

Kiss his skin, wrapping him in a promising warmth.

So close, yet so far.

Too much he loved,

For his fingertips danced,

Stretched and strained, reaching

For his unrequited lover.

Apollo's love

Is fiery and scolding,

Yet Icarus loved him so.

He tried and tried,

Reached and flew,

Controlled his father's gift of

Waxed feathered wings

To lead his own demise.

When the scorching wax

Melted down his back,

Over his shoulder blades and

Into the valley of his spine,

He felt Apollo's bittersweet goodbye,

His guilty apology.

The wind of Aeolus

Tried to slow his fall, to ease his pain.

A cold breeze past his ears

To deafen his father's pained

Wails to see his son

Crashing down below Into the rockey waters-

It did nothing to hide the sons joy

Of trying to get so high;

It was only when Poseidon caught his body amongst the ocean,

To soothing the blistering caresses that Apollo

Left in his wake

To praise Icarus loving him so,

For being the most devoted follower.

Love is pain, they say.

So, love as Icarus did the sun.

I have three theories about the story of Icarus. Mostly its just me ranting at 3 in the morning and making the story gay. So, my apologies.

1. Icarus didn't fly towards the sun, he flew towards freedom.

This is only a slight variation of the actual story. In the actual myth Icarus flies towards the sun and he flies too high which is his ultimate downfall. Greediness that was his fatal flaw. However, in this variation, Icarus who has seen only huge stone walls as long as he could remember, just wanted freedom. That's all. He hadn't flown too high, he had simply wanted to fly from the maze walls that restricted him.

2. Apollo was jealous and Icarus was in love.

If you really know Greek mythology, you would know that Apollo had a boyfriend called Hyacinthus who was killed tragically by a wind God. The despair of Apollo was immeasurable. You must also know the story of Daphne. So yeah, Apollo's love life was quite tragic to say the least. Icarus who had only ever heard his father speak about the outside world wanted to see the Sun. So, when he was free, he flew too see the man he had fallen in love with. Of course Apollo didn't like this too much. He was a God and sometimes Gods were prone to insanity. He punishes Icarus for thinking that his love could succeed. For Icarus, the sea and land were enemies since the men who want to kill him prowl there, while the air, the Sun meant freedom and Apollo in all his bitterness kills him and punishes him in the most cruel way possible. Apollo has done something similar to this in the case of Patroclus and Achilles.

3. Apollo and Icarus are lovers.

If you look at Daedalus- Icarus' dad- he's not a very good guy. Like most inventors, he's a little crazy. He killed his own nephew, helped a queen screw a cow, was very appalled when he found out that there were consequences for his actions, killed a king for a mistake that he made and when Icarus fell to his death it is written that Daedalus mourned for his creation than the death of his son.

So, imagine this, the labyrinth is always easy to get lost into, Daedalus always worked and when he didn't, he was telling Icarus how he must be great and carry on the name of Daedalus.

Apollo who was always good at finding lovers-he just can't seem to keep them-finds Icarus. The nights in the Labyrinth are not lonely anymore. Apollo is thrilled to know that Icarus can leave with the wings his father creates. But Icarus knew, that if he got out, his father would force him to learn his crafts instead of music and art. Apollo and Icarus hatch a plan. His uncle helps him. After he falls Apollo drags him to the shore and takes him home. They say Icarus is dead because they don't want anyone to know that he's alive. His father might come looking for him, anyone whom Apollo insults might kill Icarus, so they lie. The uncle and nephew take the blame. The Sun God and the Sea God. Apollo makes him fall while Poseidon kills him. Enough people believe this. They make it a lesson for their children. While Apollo and Icarus, enjoy watching the world grow old, just happy that they are with each other.

This is just me, making the story of Icarus very gay. But make what you want of it. It could very well be just Icarus wanting to try something cool and dying tragically.

Let me know what you guys think.

Young Apollo,

how your passion scorches.

Melting wax on a young boy's back;

Molten iron wreathing a lover's crown;

Your tears cannot extinguish celestial storms.

Blame that vengeful wind

though it did not throw the sparrow to the sea

nor toss the disk to the sky.

No, fate does not vindicate causation.

You did this.

Sing laments from afar;

Apportion your gift to others,

but don't let them spark.

Do not ask who is there to warm you -

the feathers are gone

(Ai, ai)

The flowers are all that is left,

and those can become ashes, too.

Don't you dare threaten their mourning.
