WAIT. more mirrors content because I just realized something- Jason is cocky in that he's convinced himself he doesn't need anyone and can handle things himself, because he's HAD to and has managed to do well despite that. Tim is cocky in that he's self-assured in his abilities because he's never had anybody ELSE assure him. he knows he can handle things himself and it's just sort of a given that he will, and he doesn't think that that's a bad thing at all because it's just normal to him. Tim is overconfident bc performing at his peak with no assistance is normal to him, Jay is overconfident because he wants to, essentially, stick it to the man and prove that he CAN.
Gonna write a fic where Jason's (understandable) desire to remain independent from the rest of the bats backfires when he and Tim end up accidentally investigating each other on the same case and Do Not Realize it because they try to stay out of each other's business.

Jason, having just gotten back from his meeting where he pretended to be a potential buyer for a human trafficking ring: some fucker is looking into one of my best aliases Scrimblo Bimblo and the safe houses I own under that name. I should take them down before they find out too much

Jason: Oh god, he texted you ‘hi.’’ punctuation only means one thing, Tim. They're mad at you. Tim: No, it's Damian. They're just being gramatically correct! *meanwhile* Damian: And then I used a period so they'd know that I'm mad at them. Dick : A period doesn't say 'I'm mad', it says 'you're dead to me'. Damian: I stand by my choice.
