Mario DND
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, life is blah right now
Mario: So obviously you first think fighter, but what about monk? I can’t remember him using any weapons in any of the games, other than the hammer. Of course, there is the problem of sometimes having the fire ability, but that could just be a blessing or something. Maybe a multiclass?
Luigi: so he should obviously have the same class as Mario, but I was thinking, what with his paranormal stuff and tends to be considered the smarter of the two, could he be a spell-caster? It also makes sense logically, as most the time, party members each specialize in something. So I’m gonna go with wizard.
Peach: I can see either storm sorcerer or Druid, because of all her flying and general weather things with her being princess of the mushroom kingdom, as well as typically having healing powers. So the obvious answer is multiclass
Bowser: so he sometimes uses magicy stuff, but he generally gives barbarian
Daisy: so the same logic should apply with Mario, but she feels like more of a fighter honestly
Toad: he’s a bard for the funnies. Really tho, all toads are probably druids
Rosalina: hm, I could see paladin, what with protecting the universe and all, but gonna go with sorcerer. Is there any star themed ones?
Waluigi: rouge who dumped charisma but keeps getting nat 20s lol
Wario: also rouge, but somehow dumped dexterity and charisma and maxed strength
Yoshi: ??? Uh, fighter? No idea lol
Kamek: wizard, duh durr
DK (donkey Kong! Say DK! Donkey Kong!): barbarian for sure
There’s so many Mario characters lol, but if inspiration strikes or someone asks/comments asking for one I’ll return and add more
Merman Luigi:*explores the piano*
Merman Luigi:*accidentally drops keyboard lid on his fingers*
Merman Luigi:*jumps away hissing and cursing*
Bowser:Oh No! Luigi!
Kamek: Oh No! The piano!

So for some reason I decided to spend all of last night (seven or eight hours!) making the Tetris Attack character icons into Pushmo. I've determined that A) these make for really tricky puzzles and 2) I need a life.
In all seriousness, they are great puzzles, and I'm proud to have gotten all 13 of them done... mostly so I don't have to anymore. They work on both systems, like the last ones. If you want to try them, the full album is here:

Interesting! 👀
One thing I especially like is how the magic to transform into a "magical girl" is already familiar to the users (because usually in magical girl animes, the protagonist(s) is usually a newbie who's unfamiliar with these abilities.)
Also, the fact that instead of using their magical powers to fight evil, these kids basically just like to fuck around and cause chaos. A very Koopaling thing to do.
The best part of all of this imo? The ability for a Koopa to change into a human form is actually not too-far fetched for the Mario universe. Sort of. (For context, the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon had an episode where Kootie Pie—aka Wendy O. Koopa—was turned into a human form to distract Mario in another one of their wacky Koopa schemes. "The Beauty of Kootie" it was called. Boy, was that a thing.)
Anyway, very interesting lore! Definitely gonna keep an eye out for more.
How did these guys become magical koopas (? Is that what we should call them?)
yes, magical koopas is the best way to describe them LOL also!!
i love the fact that magic is already a major part in the Mario lore, especially surrounding Bowser, Kamek, Jr, and the Koopalings! so i decided to lean into that already-existing lore!!!
i like to think certain species of Koopa are more likely to be magic-users, with Magikoopa and the more dragon-like Koopas like the species Bowser, Bowser Jr, and the Koopalings are being the ones with the strongest connection to magic and Koopa Troopas being the ones with the weakest connection to magic
since Kamek is Jr and the Koopalings' teacher and grandpa, he's the one who helped them learn transformation magic. while he himself can't hold his humanoid transformation very long anymore as he gets older, he found it best to teach the nine children how to do so for many reasons. for one, it's a good disguise; despite their humanoid forms still having features similar to their Koopa forms (namely hair, eyes, and some accessories), they can accomplish some tasks easier... or mess with the students at their school for fun if you're Iggy. another reason is because it's a good way for them to practice for their future positions in the Koopa Army, since having troops that appear human is a good fake out for certain opponents!
and finally, the reason they were all excited for this in the first place: they could live out their anime battle fantasies, because why learn how to have a humanoid disguise if you're not gonna use it for fun AND practicality?
in fact, Rose was the one who had the idea for them to use their humanoid disguises to be a magical girl inspired troupe! outside of generally using the transformations for fun, they also use their human forms at school (with the exceptions of Rose and Jr, who are homeschooled by Kamek since their magic is still somewhat unstable) since it's practice for future battles on the front lines. it helps them learn how to hold their humanoid forms for long periods of time, and the schools all know that it's part of their magic homework from Kamek; if they get tired during the school day, they can go back to their Koopa forms without being accused of being a different student or skipping class.
Ludwig, as the one with the strongest magic, can hold his form the longest. Roy, Morton, Wendy, and Iggy can all hold their transformations around the same time frame as each other, with Iggy being able to hold his form second longest. Lemmy and Larry also hold their forms for similar lengths of time, with Larry being the one who holds his form just a few minutes longer than Lemmy. Rose and Jr, however, hold their forms at different lengths of time each attempt; their magic is still more unstable and erratic due to lack of practice, hece the homeschooling from Kamek.
(also my first ask being about worldbuilding is so perfect because it gives me an excuse to yell about all the worldbuilding ideas™ ive been cooking for MONTHS.)

Why do I do this to myself?

So I was looking at the Mario chart and I wanted to figure out everyone's height. So I use the official height of Jumpman himself of 5'1 or 154.94 cm. Considering that it takes six notches on the board to get to Mario's height I divided 154.94 cm by 6 giving me that each notch is about 25.823 repeating. The first character I calculated the height of was Luigi, he is about half a notch taller than Mario so I took my to 25.823 and divided it by 2. Then added that to Mario's height giving me a height of 167.8516 repeating. Or about 5'6.
The character that I calculated for was Bowser. The tricky thing about Bowser though is that his shell is slightly higher than his actual head so I did two measurements for him. Going up to his shell because it is twice the height of Mario and a lot easier to calculate, he is 309.88 cm or a bit taller than 10'1. However, that height includes his shell, not the top of his head. The top of his head is about a notch and a half shorter than his shell so I calculated for this, about 271.145 cm or about 8'10. Which is interesting because there's a man in the Guinness world record book named Sultan Kösen who is 251 cm or about 8'2.
The next character I calculate for is rather easy as well, Peach. Not including the crown, she's an entire notch taller. This makes her about 180.763 repeating cm or about 5'9, with the crown though she is about 189.37111107 cm for about 6'1. By the way the crown is about 1/3 of a notch.
The next character on The chopping block is now toad. He stands about 4⅓ notches tall, meaning I can multiply 4⅓ by the height of each notch. Which gives me about 111.901 repeating cm or about 3'8.
This one that I'm going to cover is Kamek. He is another tricky to calculate character because of his hat. The first thing I'm going to go over is his hat included height, which is 129.116 repeating cm or around 4'2. Now this is where we get into a bit of assumptions since we have no models of his hat actually being off but I would assume that he's about four notches high because that's where his hat begins to actually taper into a triangle shape and it's also where you can see the most wrinkles in the hats material. If that is his actual height, then he is about 103.293 repeating cm or just about 3'3.
I didn't bother to calculate the heights for the other two cuz not only are both of them very similar in height but their background characters are not really main characters. I don't think anyone's going to be really shocked if I say that's like 5 ft whatever. If you're curious though you can use the measurements that I used, it's very simple I use desmos.
The thing that I'm still thinking about is Bowser and if his height actually affects him in a physical way because I'm thinking of like the health problems I've very tall athletes usually have. Or if you can think of the episode from the film theorist where they were looking about ant-man's ability to change his height and how that affect him on a physical scale I wonder if the same can be applied to Bowser. Though I don't know he is a fire breathing dragon so I don't know if real world physics would affect him at all. And hell now that I'm thinking about it I might post this on the game theorist subreddit or send this to Matt Pat on Twitter I don't know yet.
