Guys, do NOT vote for this canidate if you value Ao3 being anti-censorship and a friendly space for LGBTQ+ creators.
We don't want another wattpad. Or fanfiction.net. Ao3 is great because it does not censor creations or allow harassment of creators.
I'm sure you can imagine how someone like this gaining a position of power in a queer-friendly space is going to go.

Oh, how quickly the past is forgotten.
They are part of the reason A03 is a thing now. Not the whole reason, but part of it.
The Great Purges of 2002 and 2012 are when ff.net got a wild hair up their ass about THINK OF THE CHILDREN and nuked any fic posted on there that was explicit. Thousands upon thousands of nc-17 smutfics were lost.
It’s what led to the creation of alternate hosting sites for smutty fic…AdultFanfiction was the one I went to…but thousands of fics would never be recovered.

Censorship will not solve a single problem. Putting ban and restrictions on AO3 will drive creators away. You won’t be making your platform look appealing to outsiders. You’re destroying your own platform by driving the majority of your creators away.
The exact same thing happened to fanfiction.net and Tumblr. So many people quit. AO3 is one of the very few platforms creators have.
Censorship does not solve any problem. It does harm to creators.

AO3 IS IN TROUBLE IF CALIFORNIAN AGE VERIFICATION LAW PASSES
An upcoming Age verification bill centered in California will be voted on Monday-- And as always,instead of actually protecting kids, it will lead to more online censorship and privacy risks, as it will force websites hosting to verify their users age by sending their ID, your browser history would be linked to it. if you live California, call your reps and tell them to oppose the bill AB3080 as it highly unconstitutional.
They also deem LGBT content harmful to minors, as well as mentions of weapons and tobacco, putting them on the same level as NSFW content.
Since AO3 headquarters reside in California, much like Reddit, Twitter,Discord and Youtube (and others) who knows how bad the effects would be. Instead of just effecting Californians (even then its concerning.) the effects would be US or even worldwide. VPNs wont help.

Chinese readers like myself are also desperately calling for the vote now on our own social media(weibo and qzone), what Tiffany G says doesn’t stand for Chinese Fangirls.
We are actually more concerned and scared than ever for if she won she might giveaway Chinese AO3 writers’ personal data to certain people and lead to horrible things in the real life. 
SHE IS WORKING IN A GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION.
Please vote for the future of AO3 and the freedom and safety of Chinese writers. And please don’t take Tiffany as a average Chinese fangirl, don’t attack us in a dark time like this.
