“Challenge Accepted”

@imperial-strategist It’s done! I went ahead and preserved both versions of your shirtless-calendar portrait. Turns out, i don’t have a text editor on this art program, so proper poster-ifying will have to come later.
I like to think you capture the essence of moving forward despite adversity.

Rachel Maksy’s newest video had me thinking; she’d make a cute Who. This was another fun style to try!
Long post ahead! (It got out of hand, this is very wordy)
So! I've mentioned his second prosthetic. I've spent a while trying to draw some sort of visual aid to my explanations since I'm not the best with words lol-
I also might have burned myself out a bit but anyway-
Here's what i came up with!

Individuals, backstory, and info under the cut!
Backstory - prosthetic - random notes
How about a little storytime then?
Leo was 23. He and raph were leading a supply run, and everything was fine until they bumped into sister krang, and she brought backup. How lucky amirite?
Lets fast forward a bit towards the end of the battle, troops were fighting hounds, zombies, tech - you name it, they fought it. And while that's happening, Raph had taken on sister krang herself in an attempt to stall for everyone to escape, and leo was trying to make a path through the chaos for the troops.
But no matter his size, raph wasn't strong enough to take on sister krang alone. Leo knew this, raph knew this, She knew this. Leo started making his way over to raph, sprinting and teleporting left and right, getting glimpses of that stable red and her sadistic smile.
When he was almost there, leo got knocked back a few hundred feet by a sudden explosion, knocking him out for a minute or so
Miraculously he was fine when he came to and started his mad dash towards raph once again, but before he could reach him, sister krang reeled her hand back and plunged it straight into his construct, dead center.
Leo screamed when his construct started falling apart, but raph only smiled at him before it fizzled out completely. Then sister krang finally noticed leo, her smile turning to a sneer. This unlocked something in leo, giant blue portals opening under all the troops, sending them anywhere else while he reached his older brothers mangled corpse.
While he was mourning, krang knocked him away. All he managed to grab was raph's mask as he flew across the battlefield and passed out on impact.
Sadistic as she was, sister krang decided to have fun with him. He woke to his odachi laying broken, just out of reach. While she was slowly breaking his right arm off before tossing it to a hound as a treat, then she started slowly, excruciatingly carving away at his leg, from his hip to his knee, all the way to his femur.
She then grabbed his femur and twisted it out of its socket as slowly as she could, laughing. He managed one more burst of ninpo, teleporting himself, his severed leg, and his odachi out of harms way.
Onto the prosthesis!

Here he is! My favorite middle-aged turtle
What you see here is his uncovered prosthetic since he took off the sleeve for this (more on that later), the majority of his thigh had been too damaged to save from sister krangs little torture session, and instead of just doing something like a rotationplasty and calling it a day
(Image taken from google)

Donnie decided to just remove the damaged tissue and replace it with nanotechnology instead.
Since his femur was left with krang, donnie made him a new one out of some sort of metal as well. It's hollow because why not. but let's talk nanotech, yeah?
I'm not the best at explaining these things (and i only have a surface level understanding of it), but I'll try.
If you've ever watched endgame and watched when Iron Man tapped his chest and his suit built itself on the spot, that's nanotech. Teeny tiny pieces of metal that make something bigger! Or, if you've watched Big Hero 6, it's kinda like the nanobots. The gist is that you just have to program the tech to do what you want. In this case, it's been programmed to act as muscle tissue.
The tech formed individual muscle strands that interlocked with his remaining muscle. That way, it had a pretty straightforward connection. Why make something complex when the body is a perfectly functional mechanism in and of itself?
So, as you might assume with an injury this severe, it took months upon months to heal, even with their impressive healing factor, this is a lot. And to avoid oberwhelming Leo's body and mind too much while he's healing, donnie decided to manually keep the severed leg alive in a machine that simulates the body, providing oxygen and nutrients, and of course, doing physical therapy on a set schedule.
Let me tell you, leo did not like this at all. He was forced to look at the bloody remnants of his leg constantly, always reminded of everything he lost in that last battle for months.
Donnie installed the ports separately and let them heal before reattaching the limb months later. This was especially rough for leo as he had literally lost an arm and a leg and was forced to look at the bloody proof 24/7. When his leg was finally back on his body, he hated it. It felt weird and unnatural at first, but soon enough, he refused to take it off at all.
Present day, he forgets it's a prosthetic half the time, he's just so used to it that it's become part of him, the only time the realisation hits that yes, his leg is gone now, is when he has to do maintenance on it. (lil more on that later, not much, tho)
The prosthetic was designed to function just like an ordinary leg would, and it was a success! It acts just like it did before the injury.
You might be wondering how his reattached leg is still alive, right? Since, y'know, there's nothing but tech connecting it to his body now. Remember how the femur is hollow? There are actually teeny tiny pipes running through the walls of his femur that provide blood to his leg!
At first i thought i could make blood pass through the metal muscle like it would with flesh, but i quickly realised a major flaw in that, were he to, say, get stabbed or something, the muscle would rebuild in moments sure, but there would be blood in the prosthesis and he might get some deadly blood disease from it so-
I decided it would be more practical for it to pass through the femur, since it would take some very severe damage to the prosthetic for it to cause any actual issues, even if he did get stabbed or slashed he would be stunned, but over-all fine when the tech retakes its shape
Now, you might be thinking 'well it can't possibly be removable! It must be permanent' jokes on you. It's completely detachable!
Kinda rushed these drawings, lol, but you get the gist

This whole 'secondary prosthetic' idea is something i actually thought of while drawing these! Since it would be pretty flawed if he was suddenly bedridden or reliant on someone strong enough to carry him if they suddenly needed to escape, lol (my boy weighs like 200+ kg, sure, it's doable, but it's better if he can handle himself in emergencies)
So! His leg can, in fact, be removed! It'll sustain itself for upwards of 12 hours with the built-in mechanism that circulates and provides oxygen and nutrients to the blood in his leg, i won't go into too much detail about that whole process since i already wrote down the gist of it in the picture itself.
What i didn't mention is that the secondary prosthetic is optional, so he can choose to just go legless if he feels like it. He never really went without it in the apocalypse, usually choosing to keep up his everyday work instead of taking a break for once in his miserable life. but now that he's safe and all, he usually just hangs out on the couch or something. Actually, there's some emotions here
When he does take it off, mainly for maintenance, he gets hit with the realisation that he had, in fact, lost most of his leg, followed by depressive episodes where he refuses to leave his room - the couch - or any space he percieves as safe until it's back on. Usually, he ends up moping on the couch bundled up in at least two blankets until his leg is returned to him or, more commonly, he usually does maintenance on it himself, and yes, he mopes the entire time. He will mope for hours on end without saying a single word at times
Donnie, ever the tech enthusiast, invented a whole new fucking metal for this prosthetic, it's specifically made so that normal x-rays pick it up as bone and flesh instead of metal, he also designed a special x-ray that sees the prosthetic as metal, of course. But they usually just used the regular ones just in case something got caught in the tech
Since leo is, well.. leo. He did sometimes store raph's mask in the hollow space in his femur, donnie highly discouraged it but jokes on him. His mask was also stored in there at some point. It wasn't a common occurrence, of course. Just mainly when he wanted to hide them from someone who would have otherwise seen them on the handle of his (very historically inaccurate btw, i did some research), custom nagamaki blade, it's more based on a nagamaki blade than it is an actual nagamaki blade, leo wanted it that way lol
Onto the sleeve!
As you might have noticed, he's missing some skin, right? Not to worry! Donnie designed a protective cover out of a silicon like material. It's like artificial skin!

Showing you his most commonly worn sleeve while standing like the gayest middle-aged turtle you ever did see
When i draw him in colour, his sleeve will most likely be black, as it's my favorite colour on him lol.
His two main ones are black and green, the green one is a bit off in colour, a bit too saturated compared to his scales, it matched his skintone better when he was younger since his scales have dulled with age. And as of right now, none of his sleeves have his markings on them. They're all pretty plain
And as you can see, the sleeve makes his leg look completely normal in shape! You wouldn't even know it's fake if he wore full lenght pants! (Don't tell him i called it a fake leg, he'd smack me lol) anywho, the green sleeve is more discreet if he wants to wear shorts out in public without catching everyones attention, y'know?
He 100% has like three of these just laying around. We all know he's gonna get stabbed, donnie knew, at least
(Sidenote, remember how he lost his arm at the same time? And how raph died? He begged donnie to model his new arm after raph for a very special reason. 'So he and raph could still fight side by side', sappy, i know)
I definitely missed something, and i might add it later if i remember what it is, but here it is! My own prosthetic design
Thank you vv much for reading!
Have nice day
Posting them separately because i can

(The post before this one has info about the prosthesis if you're interested, it's a lot of words, tho)
LONG POST AHEAD! Lots of text and no drawings after the cut!
So, I've been procrastinating this post for a while because i don't have any art explaining his new arm except this one, and i wanted it to be pretty similar to, or even better than the first prosthetic post, but i don't think i can do anything more than an infodump today, lmfao sorry

But here it is! In all of its glowy/floaty glory!
Some facts and features about his arm under the cut
So, I'll just copy and paste what i wrote in my notes, since my brain is complete mush lately
The notes are unfinished and in no specific order, but i figured it might be interesting if you think my au is fun ,^,
His arm! Made of a mix of carbon fiber and whatever the fuck the metal future donnie invented is
-the metal parts of the arm are matte, for style, obviously
*The nails are made of a type of nanotech so he can customize everything about them, with some limits due to there being limited nanotech stored in the hand itself.
- he can have claws, short nails, stilettos, talons, or even a mix of them. He knows a thing or two about programming nanotechnology due to his other prosthetic, so he can customize it on his own eithout issue. And yes, he does
paint the nails on it, as well.
*Some form of electromagnetism keeps his hand and forearm attached, without it they'd just fall to the ground. Some things it can do with this feature involves;
-see how his sword is situated on his back? He couldn't possibly get it off without bending over backwards, it's too long, right? Actually, he can grab the handle with his prosthetic and then detach the hand from the forearm, this will let him independently control the hand, which lets him pull the sword out of its scabbard no problem
-the limbs can move independently, the only limit being his ability to focus enough to smoothly control the individual pieces. This lets him easily take his sword out of its scabbard with the hand while simultaneously blocking a hit with the forearm, for example
-since the hand is the only part that doesn't glow, it's much stealthier, so he can surprise attack opponents from behind, even when he's standing right in front of them
-are the parts sentient? Do they have independent will? He doesn't fuckin know, and neither does Donnie. He discovered that they can move independently on a whim and decided that it's best not to question it. He's totally not extremely cocky about having potentially created artificial intelligence on accident -Stickbug
*The individual pieces of the arm can hover, letting him do things like what is shown in the illustration
*Nanotech is stored in the individual pieces
-if something were to, say, slash his prosthetic forearm and leave a gash, the nanotech would mend it immediately, letting him keep fighting unaffected until he can properly fix the damage
-if something were to slice the entire forearm in two, the electromagnetism would pull the pieces together while the nanotech seals the gash, making the forearm good as new
*What is it powered by?
-i didn't mention this in the thigh prosthetic post, but his thigh isn't actually powered by anything, it doesn't need more than the guidance of his muscles to function
-the electromagnetism in the arm is powered by his ninpo, it lets him turn it on and off on a whim, and it gives him a more natural sense of control when he operates it
-his ninpo powers the electromagnetism, but what powers the rest of the arm? Trick question, it's the electromagnetism! It triggers mechanisms in the individual pieces that powers all the mechanical features, such as the nanotech, fingers, and a coupleo nes on brand with it being genius built:tm:
-since the arm is technically powered by, and connected to his ninpo, he can teleport it much like his nagamaki!
*since it's powered by his ninpo, if his ninpo gets spazzy he cannot use the arm. If he were to try to use the arm when his ninpo is spazzy, a lot of things might happen
-first things first, why would his ninpo be spazzy? It's a side effect of his body effectively sustaining itself with his ninpo for over a decade. It made up for lost sleep, lack of food and water, and everything you might need to, y'know, live. This quickly drained his ninpo until it was little more than a spark, and anytime that spark flickered out from him overworking himself, he'd crash and pass out for the next day and a half. He didn't actually know this was going on until he popped up in the present and everything just kinda started making sense
-it could switch on and off sporadically, causing it to fall to the floor and snap back into place at random
-the hand and forearm might suddenly shoot off in a random direction, which is hilarious, but also dangerous
-he would have basically no control over the arm, leading to jagged movement and randomly activating different features
-it might randomly teleport to or from him, depending on how he feels
*at first glance the previous point might seem like bad design choices, but it's actually a necessary feature! Since he tends to overdo it pretty often it's important that he can't use his prosthetic when his ninpo is spazzy
-his ninpo only gets spazzy if something triggers it, it's kinda like it switches between rest and survival mode, this gets triggered if he's overused his ninpo and it got too close to when he relied on it for survival
-the only way to fix his spazzy ninpo is, well, rest. A lot of napping. Which is why it's so important that he literally can't use his prosthetic when he needs rest
*It can teleport?
-why yes, it can! Being able to telepoort the pieces to and from himself gives him a huge advantge in battle. Since you can't disarm him! Pun intended
*it's a very silent piece of tech, which is ideal for his fighting style. the only part that makes the typical 'tech prosthetic' sounds is the fingers, as they are connected with joints instead of electromagnetism
*the flexible parts
-the main part covers the delt/ shoulder of his residual limb and wraps around his neck for a snug, comfortable fit.
-there's a sliver of it cutting the metal of the palm in half right between his fingers, giving it more mobility. (Try gently bending your own palm, it's surprisingly flexy)
-there's a small sliver at the 'wrist' of it, since it wouldn'tbe able to bend properly if there wasn't something leting that part of the hand bend, as well
-the flexible parts in the hand is yellow, while the piece covering his shoulder is green, adorned with his iconic shoulder stripe, in yellow, of course
-the green and yellow aren't a perfect colour match, they're a bit more saturated than his skin and markings, but it's not very noticable at first sight, so if he wears a hoodie over the arm his hand could be mistaken for a real hand, letting him hide it in public, to avoid stares
*The hand
-it has a softer, kinda rubbery material covering his palm and the length of the fingers that lets him tell different textures apart better, even if just by sound. It's a lighter, more desaturated green than the hand, even lighter thann his skin
-the soft material is not smooth, but rather textured, not bumpy, per se, just somewhat rough. Maybe a bit sandpaper-y
-the textured material gives him better grip, especially in battle, since it wouldn't exactly be ideal for a sword that is 5'7 long to suddenly fly across the battlefield. As funny as it would be, lol
-it also lets him control his grip strength better, so he doesn't accidentally crush someone's hand, or whatever object he was holding
*There's a good chance you might find him walking around with just the shoulder/bicep piece, since he can teleport the other pieces to himself at will, and it's less draining when he leaves them somewhere, off
Have nice day :]
I think Lance hates the cold, not just because he has a lot of dragon and flying types, but because of ✨trauma✨
Like maybe he ended up falling through the cave floor of the ice path and nearly froze to death
I also think it’d be funny if someone asked Lance why he hates the cold so much and he just pulls off his two fake fingers and says cause I got frostbite and everyone loses it

I used a reference from @kibbitzer for these! My character, Adler, without his prosthetic leg :)

Okay, usually I wouldn't think so far into this but:

Fizz, if you can see him clearly, is wearing his prosthetics to sleep.
Now, I don't know shit about prosthetics; HOWEVER I do know that wearing them for too long starts to hurt. Sleeping with a prosthetic limb can cause injuries from awkward sleeping positions or constant pressure, and not only that, your limb(s) need a break and time to rehabilitate at the end of each day, OZZ TAKE CARE OF YO MANZ HE AIN'T BEIN' HEALTHY.
(About the same as wearing a binder for too long 🏳️⚧️)
It's been on my mind for about 2 hours now, and I needed to share my concern for this 𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 character in a 𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 hell setting not keeping up with lé rulez.
Buttercup The Duck Gets New 3D Printed Foot - Huffington Post
A duck with a backward foot is getting a second chance, thanks to 3D printing technology.
Buttercup, born last year in a high school biology lab, has been unable to walk properly after his deformed foot only partially developed. He was just "hobbling around on it," according to the Feathered Angels Waterfowl Sanctuary.
The Tennessee-based group's owner, Mike Garey, told CNET, "With his deformed foot, he would have been in pain and had constant cuts and foot infections walking on the side of it even at our sanctuary here."
After the foot was amputated, a 3D printing company donated its services to aid in Buttercup's recovery. Photos of Buttercup's sister's foot were used to 3D print a mold, which will be used to cast a silicone prosthesis, explains CNET.
Feathered Angels received the materials needed to mold the duck's foot and the sock to hold it in place on Thursday, according to Buttercup's Facebook page.
Check out more photos of Buttercup below, and follow his progress here.

FDA Approves First Prosthesis Controlled by Muscle Electrical Signals
Dean Kamen’s DEKA Arm is an electronic prosthetic that mimics natural arm and hand movement with an amazing level of finesse. It’s controlled by electrical signals from the wearer’s muscles. This week, the DEKA Arm became the first muscle-controlled prosthetic approved by the FDA for sale to the general public.
In the FDA study, 90% of test subjects were able to quickly adapt to using the DEKA Arm for tasks that were impossible with traditional arm prosthetics, like brushing hair and using keys and zippers.
This is a cyborg we can all support.

Tonight I went to see The Wrath of Khan at Lucasfilm, and it was amazing. Not only had I never seen it (I KNOW), and not only was it at My Favorite Place Ever, there was a little trivia contest before the movie and I won! Kind of. They asked for the name of the no-win scenario, and I needed a minute for the name to come to me but I knew they'd give it to the first hand raised, so I jumped up anyway because I don't believe in a no-win scenario. And fortunately, the nice dudes next to me whispered "Kobayashi Maru!" so I shared my winnings with them: an insignia pin/USB drive (which I gave to them), a small bag of Star Trek monopoly pieces, custom made Star Trek pins, and (from what I can tell) a custom Star Trek shirt with everybody's favorite Vulcan in it. Best day ever? Yeah, I think so.
And then, even though I saw it coming, I cried when Spock died. So I did what any normal person would do: I went home and sculpted myself a pair of Vulcan ears in the bathroom with modeling clay.
As you can tell, the half-ear attempt came out a lot better than the full-ear experiment. Then again, I also spent about ten minutes on each side, so this is one of those things I'm going to revisit in a few months when I get better.
