3 days of hair growth was far too much
Hi, I was wondering how you get such a smooth shave. I feel like however I do it there's always stubble visible.

I've got a few things that have helped me shave super smooth, but there's also a bit of make up that goes into it as well.
Before I start shaving I wash/exfoliate my face with warm to clean out any debris that could get in the way of shaving off the hairs. Then once I have cleaned my face I rinse off with warm water. Next I apply the shaving cream/gel to my face in a circular motion.
After that I grab my blade and run it under cold water for a few seconds---this makes the blade a bit harder and keeps it from flexing too much.
Now the shave itself: I initially shave along with the grain (my beard hair grow out then down so i shave down my face). Afterwards I shave sideways to get the bits that feel too rough. Once all that shaving is done I rinse my face with cold water to close the pores and limit any redness with a nice aftershave and lotion to finish it off.
Now that your face is all smooth you may notice that there is still a noticeable blue/green speckle (I have a very noticeable 5 'o clock shadow) so this is where the make up comes in.
Lightly dab some light, but yellowish concealer throughout your face where the stubble is. YOU NEED WAY LESS THAN WHAT YOU THINK!!!!! Use your fingers and spread it out for coverage of the desired areas. Then I take a liquid concealer and a slightly damp beauty blender and dab the concealer on my face. AGAIN, YOU NEED WAY LESS THAN WHAT YOU THINK!
Once all that is on I then apply a blush, highlight, and setting powder. I've done this so many times I can do this part within about 3-5 minutes, but initially it took me like 15 minutes.
This method isn't perfect but it works pretty darn well. I'm sure there are other and more effective ways of covering up stubble, but this is a method I came up with that works for me.

I confessed this story to someone and their “WTF?!” reaction prompted me to post.
I used to shave my pubic hair. All of it. It was the only way he liked it. For those of you who’ve never done it before, or don’t have a vulva you’ll just have to trust that it is a seriously tedious and arduous task.
Sometimes I wouldn’t be prompt with my upkeep. It was such a pain, and there were so many things in my day that I had to do. There were constant complaints from him about how women find them selves good men, settle down and just let themselves go. Then they wonder why their husbands cheat on them.
So one day I guess he just got so frustrated with me dropping the ball that he was going to take matters into his own hands. Literally.
I was showering and he came in the room ( I curse EVERY bathroom lock we ever had for PURE INEFFECTIVENESS). Without asking, he got in the shower with me and grabbed my razor.
He started shaving me. I’ll admit I did not protest too much, but I was obviously uncomfortable. That progressed shortly to physical manifestations of panic, fear and anxiety: dizziness, nausea, difficulty breathing, chills (while in a hot shower no less), but I managed to hold back tears.
He got angry with me for shaking and losing my balance and went on a rant. I had once again ruined what could have been a sweet and sexy moment.
Apparently I don’t know how to keep my cool with a razor-blade centimetres from my clitoris when it is in the hands of someone prone to outbursts and no idea what he’s doing.
When he got out and stomped off in a rage, I let the tears flow silently.

There are moments where I feel like I’m making progress. Then there are times when I think a little harder and I realize that I am so far from healed.
I don’t shave anymore. I wax because it hurts more. And pain is penance.
i havent shaved my legs in a really long time and while i was babysitting my skirt edged up a bit and the seven year old i was watching said “ew you should shave that hairs not supposed to be there” and i said “well if its not supposed to be there then why does it grow there?” and he was really silent for a long time and then finally said “lets watch sonic the hedgehog”

This is almost exactly my routine, this is excellent advice.
The only difference is, because my facial hair is very thick, I use a cartridge razor (five-bladed) for the initial, with-the-grain pass, which gets the majority of it off without any nicks or irritation, and then switch to the safety razor for the next two passes.
