The Question of Heirs - Noritoshi Kamo
A small drabble as part of Obeisance to The Arrow, can be read on its own though
[Noritoshi brings up the topic of children while suffering from brain damage, post the Goodwill Event]
[tw: discussions on pregnancy and childbirth, infertility, mentions of infidelity, child marriage]

Being in Jujutsu High gives you an illusion of independence. When you spend your whole day trying to best Maki in sparring, not much thought goes into what the future holds. Especially when the future is as constricting as yours and Noritoshi’s.
“Do you want children?” He asks. You two are watching the sunset out of a classroom window. After the first day of the Goodwill Event, Noritoshi is terribly injured. He’s suffered major head injuries, including a few cracks in his cranium. He’s expected to make a full recovery in a few days, thankfully. It still breaks your heart to see him bandaged up like that. Was it the shock of the disaster with the special-grade curse, or the concussion speaking? Why was he talking about children right now?
“It doesn’t matter what I want.” You shake your head. “We’ll have to have some. I think I’ll push out, like three or four, and then just leave”.
Noritoshi laughs. “Three or four? Do you think it’s so easy to just have kids?” Yup, he’s definitely not fully fixed up there. You humour him anyway.
“No, I mean, I don’t have to be in their lives for long, you know? I know my role. They’re for the Kamo Clan, they’ll be more your children really. I just have to give birth and raise them past toddlerhood.” You shrug. “Besides, I do want the best for the Clan too. And you. The more children we have, the higher is the possibility that one will inherit Blood Manipulation.”
“Hmm” and you two sit in silence for a bit.
Till he breaks it: “You don’t have to.”
“What don’t I have to?”
“Have children if you don’t want to.”
You raise an eyebrow at him. Was he mocking you?
“No, really, you don’t have to. Producing an heir is my job, not necessarily yours. Pardon me– I'm being very direct– but we can say you’re infertile and, if you are okay with it, I can have a few children out of marriage. It’s not uncommon.”
From anyone else, you would have interpreted it as a threat - bear my children or I’ll have you replaced by a mistress. But you get what Noritoshi’s saying. Knowing him, he will take care of you, children or no children. He’s offering a painless way out with no conditions; you don’t have to go through pregnancy and childbirth if you don’t want to.
My life is so weird. My actual husband is offering to keep mistresses to keep me happy. You crack a smile, it’s too funny. This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.
“We don’t have to think about it now anyway.” You drop your head on his shoulder.
I know all the Gojo fans are in denial rn, so I did this to hopefully cheer you up!

Complaint that the best thing I've ever written might be this fic where Sukuna's milk-dripping tiddies save us from the shibuya incident
EXCHANGE EVENT foreshadowing [manga spoiler warning further down, anime onlies ur safe for now] there are probably a million more that I didn't save, but at some point it just feels trivial and endless.
the shibuya arc:
Gojo got locked out of the barrier, everyone else could go in // Gojo getting sealed in the prison realm
Mahito gathering objects from the cursed warehouse for kenjaku // Mahito evolving into his final form, for kenjaku to absorb
Gojo walking over the ants but not crushing them bc infinity // walking over people in the station. You could even say Gakuganji telling Yaga to do something about Gojo // criminalizing any attempt to free him from the prison realm

Todo coming for Yuuji, then taking his side, getting false memories, calling him brother // same thing with Choso.

That was such a big clue he was working w Mahito tbh, BUT in the exchange event and shibuya arc, Mechamaru fell apart and had to be replaced with a machine. It was still helpful, but had to be utilized by the other sorcerers.

Nobara got hit the same way when she got the concussion, and Nishimiya's speech about having a scarred face is one of many reasons why I believe Nobara to still be alive.

Maki took Miwa's katana // Miwa lost her ability to weild one by the pact she made against Kenjaku.

Megumi summoning a shikigami that he could only use once
Even their injuries were very similar (though not everyone's), I see it most in Fushiguro and in the blood on Yuuji's face where he gets scars later, Panda's cores, and ofc Mechamaru.
things that happen after the shibuya arc (spoilers ahead if u don't read the manga)
After the veil went down, Gojo split the earth (hollow purple Hanami) // after the prison realm opened, Gojo caused a fucking earthquake
Noritoshi Kamo striking out bc he never swings the bat, he just stands there talking to Yuuji and doesn't even wear a helmet, though his head is covered in bandages // Noritoshi not getting involved against Sukuna, planning to flee with his family, but staying to teach Yuuji about blood manipulation CT.
Possibly a reach but Maki let Megumi use playful cloud // Toji took it from Maki
Also Maki losing her glasses against Hanami // no longer needing them
Also. It feels so unfair. And ungrateful how Sukuna had brought Yuuji back to life (again), and restored his body, and obliterated the biggest threats in the area. No one else could have defeated Mahoraga - Yuuji would have been upset if Fushiguro had died. And bro had the audacity to tell Sukuna to die and tore his own fingers apart before doing anything else.
I alr posted about Yuuji's reaction and his pain, I'm not invalidating that - I'm breaking things down regarding Sukuna bc his perspective is too often neglected.
I cannot shut the fuck up about Sukuna (I think I understand why he is Gege's favorite and tbh he is mine too) so here's a short (anime-only friendly) post:
When Sukuna told Yuuji to savor the feeling (after the Mahoraga fight), was that sincere? Like. Sukuna's way to feel close to someone is by fighting them. Mahoraga could see Sukuna's technique. Mahoraga was worthy of Sukuna's domain, and several techniques that we don't understand until later in the manga - Sukuna got to understand Mahoraga, and Mahoraga got to know him. It was probably one of the best feelings that Sukuna had experienced.
And he was predestined to share that experience with Yuuji, so it felt like a favor. Sukuna had saved Yuuji's closest friend in the process, as well.
But Yuuji didn't recognize any of that, he wasn't the slightest bit appreciative. Sukuna had even killed one of the curses and curse users which had attacked them before, but Yuuji wanted to save everyone. Everyone who was caught in the crossfire, just at the wrong place in the wrong time.
Yuuji wanted to kill Sukuna for hurting people that he didn't hurt on purpose, he felt so emotional for strangers that he didn't know a thing about. But he never tried to understand Sukuna, despite being able to hear him speak. It isn't like Sukuna has cursed speech, and even if he didn't share any compassion it would have at least been useful to know things about someone he intended to take down. Ajchajxkfjauxkamanxbxnamzm
I'm going to be as vague as possible here, with only implied csa, heavier content warning for all the linked posts.
A while ago I was thinking about how Mai and Sukuna seemed quite similar. Secretly very hurt people who put on this edgelord show and pretend not to care or feel.
Since reading these posts about Mai, it got me thinking even more like. The triggers that caused sukuna and Mai to act in ways that made them unloveable characters.
Like when Nobara said "trouble sleeping? You've got open pores", I think that hit a nerve because Mai probably had insomnia and recurring nightmares. Her family would have scapegoated the victim (which is really common irl - somehow it's more shameful to acknowledge a predator in the family than it is to defend them).
And Sukuna with Mimiko - that always drove me insane. It made me resent sukuna for a long time, but gradually I grew this fixation to understand him. Anyway, I'd said before that it was feeling manipulated and told what to do that triggered Sukuna - but I don't think that's it.
Mimiko was terrified of him. They both were. But God, when else have we seen someone's head explode like that? Haruta got one slice. Nanako got cubed. Even the fingie curse that was afraid of Sukuna and attacked him instead of joining forces - that thing got five slices (and he intended for three).
Whatever reactions people had to Sukuna when he lived as a human (and in his current life), whether he was deified or demonized or enslaved, he was seen as a threat to restrain, he was an object of fear. I think the twins' fear of Sukuna hit a nerve.
The fingie curse wasn't trying to use Sukuna - it directly attacked him. But to be feared and told what to do, I think that mix really hit some unresolved trauma.
Edit to add:
another idea I forgot to include is that Sukuna would have known the twins were asking sukuna to kill kenjaku. I think part of him really, really wants to, but due to a pact or something he can't, and that also made him feel helpless. (tbh I don't totally understand this - kenjaku seems to have a covercive relationship with the reincarnated sorcerers. Not only are they taking over someone else's body without being invited to - but they seem rly uncomfortable with him. And it's like they try to get past that... But at the end of the Shibuya arc, Kenjaku said that the pacts he made w those sorcerers were voided when he changed bodies. I assume that, even someone who makes pacts often (like Sukuna) doesn't know that they become nullified when kenjaku changes bodies (how could they know? No one else does that). Or maybe they are only canceled on Kenjaku's end, but the other sorcerers might still face consequences (which I find less believable, as their old bodies are also gone, though maybe eating themselves was also a way to retain that bond).
If you want a deeper read w even more context (especially on sukuna), here's a link. (this post got me thinking so much, half of my drafts are in reaction to it probably)
This might be a reach but I'm trying to notice more things, right

Gojo showing up to the station in Shibuya, and getting dumped by Geto - there's a black dog in the background of each. (like a sign he's about to revisit that time, meet 'Geto').
Before I only noticed the black dog café sign, and thought it was foreshadowing Gojo meeting Megumi. Here, I think the black dog (that's basically a silhouette, a shadow) represents Megumi's shikigami.
In the station, there's an 8 over the black dog (the one that survived, btw) and 8 looks like an infinity symbol. It could also be in reference to Mahoraga, or specifically the halo thing over its head.
The next panel:

If I really want to reach, I'd say those 4 marks could represent Sukuna's eyes.
Ik that ^ sounds like a reach, but look at this.

Sus placement for a scratch, Gege. Along with Megumi's thoughts...
Every day I ask myself, was this intentional foreshadowing or am I just a conspiracy theorist

I was thinking about how happy Sukuna is that Mahoraga can see his technique when I noticed... The marks on his face in this panel look like an extra eye. As if he has six eyes.
What if Gojo becomes Sukuna's vessel?
Gojo and Sukuna have this hypervigilant need to be the strongest they possibly can (even when no one is close to their level).
Gojo told Geto that he felt sorry for Sukuna. That he knows how isolated it feels.
Idk there's so many posts about their similarities, how they're 2 sides of the same coin, and I think it would be neat.
Though I do wish Sukuna could have his own body, if it isn't possible to possess a cursed corpse, this is... Another possibility I'd like to explore.
Gojo invites Sukuna in.
Sukuna gets to be seen by someone who can understand him, without exploiting that vulnerability.
A few things I keep thinking about

the unreleased death painting wombs are on the table, with the food. Not next to it. Not on a separate piece of furniture, not on their own chair. If they had a high chair, that could foreshadow them being incarnated.
But here it looks like they're going to be eaten.

There is no rice on the table. Here, Yuuji is passing bread to Choso.
Remember the juju stroll about "are you a rice or a bread person?" or the character pages telling us their preferences?
Rice is generally associated with more traditional, and bread is more modern, from what I've read (but pls add any meaning you noticed that I've missed here).
The way I see it is that nothing about their brotherhood is conventional, but they're happy with it.
I also wonder when the youngest death paintings became remains. Choso said that he would free his brothers from the warehouse, and he can sense their death from any distance, so not knowing bothers me. I will guess that it was an effect of the Shibuya incident - the barrier around the school loosening, the major clans clearing their tools from the warehouse, the pact that the death paintings would be protected there was broken, and the weaker ones might have needed that to keep surviving in their state.
Yuuji's domain felt like itafushi propaganda since the end of the Shibuya incident.
This post has aged well so far (ch. 267 is out now, only 4 remain)
But I noticed something else from those scenes in shibuya!

First, that Yuuji holds a rabbit as soon as they appear.
And the rabbits can keep appearing, after they've been taken out.

Second... The dogs? I forgot about that. And I can't say with certainty what they represent, but...

This page from the culling game arc reminded me of it.
(culling game foreshadowing & ending predictions will be their own post(s) because gege is driving me insane)
Sorry that the links have links, each post is quite short though, I'm just trying to stay organized without repeating myself every day.
In summary, Yuuji's domain was always itafushi propaganda, and the cryogenic sort of property feels even more foreshadowed now, so do with that what you will.
The fact that the rabbits can't truly be killed, and the white dog (who died in the detention center in season 1) appears there first. And then the black dog (who still lives, might have represented Kenjaku in this scene, but could also represent Megumi, in reference to Ch. 266)
[anime-only friendly]
How old is that seance curse user we saw in Shibuya?
I never really thought about it but... Does she have potential to be Kenjaku old?
This post brought to you by... I had a dream where I met Gege and said "it's okay if you don't have an answer. I've been through jjk 12 times and cannot figure out how old she is." once again analyzing jjk in my sleep, coming up w things my conscious brain would not be thinking.
I've given her and the other old curse user in shibuya the least amount of thought bc they creep me out so bad. But now that I'm thinking about it...
The two of them show a duality of evil that really stems from disrespect of autonomy.
Her CT made it easy... But she also preyed on boys, kidnapping and grooming them as her "grandson". The one we see is not the first. So she has to be superhumanly old, right?
And old dude with the inverse CT - That really has no way to invade the autonomy of others. But he certainly thrives in doing it anyway, torturing people to death for no reason but "practice" bc his job is to kill people and he has to be good at it. As if all that was necessary. (this is, I think, the anime's most disturbing scene)
It's also interesting how Gojo's birth was blamed for cursed spirits becoming stronger, but these faces of evil has hidden away because of his presence. Like Satoru's life itself was a protective seal.
Something about all the JJK endings beings snippets of a slice of life, of the characters just living and enjoying their time with each other doing regular teenage things. Just them living in a world where for a moment nothing terrible has happened yet and they can just be kids. It's just so.......god
Why don't you just kill me? It'd be easier.
JJK endings are liminal spaces the opening can change to reflect the terror, we can watch the most devastating moments of their lives unfurl on screen but the ending will always play and those kids there will go about their lives untouched by all the tragedy.
