Lady’s Concept and Reference sheet -

Hello everyone! I’m back. :)

I’ve realized that I never made a full reference for my humanized Lady, so here it is! The first one here is actually several months old, and the first fully drawn out piece of her I’ve done.

Recently, I lost ALL of my concept art of her and a couple of other humanizations due to my iPad being reset and switched to a new phone service (dammit-). So, I have put together a mix of different designs I had of her before that happened. Forgive my messy note-taking. Haha! Also, slight TW for a nude back and scars...

(Don’t worry, she’s got some leggings on in her Guardian garment!)

I should elaborate more on what I have planned for her and my human AU that will come more in depth sometime soon. For now, I’ll just state some headcanons on how Lady and the realm of the Magic Railroad function here.

(One thing to note, this is both a human and engine AU.)

Lady’s clothes are completely made out of Gold Dust. When not in her engine form, she can picture herself however she likes and just make it appear with some magic! Think of it like a typical magical girl transformation but it happens in like an instant.

She has three long scars running down the lower right side of her back. These came from the encounter that she and D10 had long ago that was mentioned by Burnett in TATMR. She has tried removing them with magic, but to no avail.

Though she may look like it, Lady does NOT consider herself any higher in status or a ruler of any sort. As the natural guardian of all the magic the engines have and the Magic Railroad, she can’t help having a certain look to her that gives it away. As much as she would love to make friends on Sodor, she has to tend to the realm of the railway most of the time.

I posted this separately before, but I just decided to reblog it because it’s better that it’s with the ref. sheet! Here’s what Lady’s Gold Dust Staff looks like. ✨

Like with her clothes, she can summon it at will at anytime with magic. It’s very important for casting large spells and doing tasks that require a lot of energy and Dust itself. It was crafted by the guardian herself while in the realm of the Magic Railroad.

It’s adorned with the top being a representation of Lady’s funnel. Along with two golden piston rods intersecting each other with her star symbol. The middle is is a nice comfortable gripping area for easy maneuvering of the grand tool.

Despite being an ancient immortal entity, Lady has a child like mentality, thus, an adolescent physical form.

A very short 14-15 yr old.

Her appearance will change as she matures, but it is taking a long time for her to mature.

I HAVE!!!! Her human name is Lindy Stone and she is the coolest biker chick ever.

She is rarely seen around the railway, but it's rumored that when she is, the person who saw her will have a lot of good luck for that day, amongst other phenomena. People also say she could be a witch of some kind. (witch as in somebody who practices actual pagan magick)

Is claimed to have a connection to Dante Armani Swindon, the man who runs the mafia-gang that illegally sells high-priced locomotives in the black market. It's not a good connection.

She is very kind to anyone who talks to her, as she wants to give everyone a chance, but do NOT mess with her. She has her ways of protecting herself.

Basic Engine Headcanons:

Engines, coaches, trucks, etc are products that are made by Lady, the sole goddess and creator of Sodor and its living machinery. Their life source is a special kind of dust called "Gold Dust" which can turn any inanimate machine into a living and breathing entity.

Living machinery are called "Gold Dust Lifeforms" and they can switch between two forms: The Gold Dust Form and The Human Form.

The Gold Dust Form refers to a Gold Dust Lifeform's original form like a steam engine, express coach, rolling stock.

The Human Form refers to a Gold Dust Lifeform humanoid appearance. Usually in the Human Form, their skin are grey and are much taller than a regular sized human.

In addition, Gold Dust Lifeforms don't need to eat anything in order to survive, they just do it for pleasure. However steam engines in particular, feel full of energy whenever they drink water. The engines' strength are 75% of their Gold Dust Form but are still extremely strong. Like, breaking limbs or throwing somebody into the sky is very easy for them. They're also super fast and their senses are more advanced than the average human.

However the Gold Dust Lifeforms' sense of taste is very interesting.

Steam engines for instance can taste sweetness, saltiness, bitterness, savoriness and especially sourness. They can't taste spiciness though and can't tell the difference between normal foods and spicy foods.

Diesels can taste sweetness, saltiness, savoriness and spiciness. But they can't taste sourness or bitterness. Unfortunately they can't eat sugar because it can cause them to break down and feel sick. Some diesels like Phillip and Diesel insist on eating them though. (That is literally a death wish you two are having)

Electric engines' sense of taste is extremely concentrated for some reason so they have to be careful about what they're putting in their food. They can taste all five tastes.

Coaches, rolling stock, trucks, etc's sense of taste is extremely diluted and when they eat food, it tastes bland or unappetizing. So they have to put lots of condiments to combat their poor taste buds.

Any bad coal, water, fuel, etc can make engines extremely ill and sick. They may start puking, feeling nauseous or dizzy or feel fatigued. This can affect both forms so it's important to check your engine's source of energy.
