Vecna Stranger Things - Tumblr Posts
Okay listen. Do I want Mike Wheeler to be vecna’d? Hell yes. I think his character needs it, honestly. Do I think he will be? Probably not. See, he is almost always standing on the sidelines of another character going through something he can’t help with (The one exception being when he almost jumped off a cliff for Dustin)
(Will being possessed, El closing the portal and disappearing, Will and El disappearing or leaving, the whole final star court mall fight, etc.)
He is almost never the one in the most direct danger. Even in the newest season he was benched and had to play support again.
The Duffers seem content with this formula (one thing they rely heavily on) and I don’t think it’s going to change. Which is sad because I think his character could honestly thrive from being Vecna’d and finally being the one in the most direct danger.
The Duffers explained in the 4x08 script that Vecna “whispers” to Will through their connection. Will may not be actively Flayed, but this comment illustrates the connection Vecna/MF has with his victims. Even if they’re not “activated” 24/7, Vecna is still influencing them and driving them to commit these heinous acts. By that logic, activation would equal access to powers, but the vessels are still very much under his control. It’s too complex a relationship to boil down to “activated” and “not activated.”
quick question: does Billy count as "activated" in scenes where he's calmly doing the MF's bidding? or is "activation" reserved for the black veins thing?

Will says the MF only activates you when he needs you, and he never got the black veins until they were roasting him, which does not seem to constitute the MF "needing" Will, so he must be referring to times like killing the soldiers etc.
but then it wasn't until Billy went into black veins mode in the sauna that Will literally announced "he's activated". Will's spidey sense also went off exactly when Billy got the black veins in his eye at the Holloway house.

The Tempest also heavily explores the idea of forgiveness and its power to free us from captivity. El “forgives” Brenner (though it’s framed as more of an acceptance that he will never change, even if he “loved” her) and only then is she able to officially walk away from him and her previous life.
Everyone expects Will to kill Henry out of anger and spite, but that’s not who Will is inside. He is the light to Henry’s darkness—the goodness to his evil. His perfect foil. Making him evil drops him to Henry’s level and makes him no better than those who tried to kill him. Rather, it would make more sense, and create a stunning conclusion to the storyline, for Will to learn about Henry’s past and understand why he succumbed to the Upside Down. Will will realize, if he didn’t have his incredible support system keeping him afloat, he could have turned out just like Henry.
It’s sobering and heartbreaking and will drive Will further into the light. He understands what it’s like to be different, misunderstood, and used for someone else’s gain. Now, does that mean he excuses Henry’s behavior? No, absolutely not. Henry has permanently altered Will Byers’ life forever, and he will never be the person he was before. That being said, just like Prospero must ask the audience for forgiveness for harming those who hurt him, must also Henry do the same.
I believe the real Henry is still buried deep inside him, just like the people he possesses. They’re never truly gone, but rather trapped beneath layers of trauma and grief. Henry will overcome his own grief and finally put his victims to rest. Will will defeat Henry not with anger, malice, and darkness, but rather with compassion, understanding, and light.
Remember, Papa (and Kali) encouraged El to use her anger to defeat her enemies—to find something that angers her and channel it into her powers. It’s the only way she’s ever known. Through her experiences of friendship, understanding, and kindness, she learns to use her love instead, which proves infinitely stronger.
Papa had El look for Henry in the darkness, because he (Papa) thought Henry was evil. It’s only when Henry is brought to the light that he can finally shed the exterior of “Vecna” and release his past. The Party will defeat Vecna with the power of love—platonic, romantic, and self-compassion. Maybe you weren’t a terrible person, maybe you were just a victim of a cycle you didn’t know how to break.
****I AM IN NO WAY EXCUSING HENRY’S ACTIONS, BUT JUST LIKE THE CHARACTERS, WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT NOTHING EXISTS IN A VACUUM AND THAT EVERY ACTION HAS A REASON. I AM NOT ADVERTISING FOR “FIXING” PEOPLE!! I WANT EVERYONE TO FIND COMPASSION FOR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS, INCLUDING THEMSELVES, AND FIND THE STRNEGTH TO BREAK THE CYCLE****
Got this picture from @will80sbyers

it has a drama club poster and it says "an evening of monologues" and the date at the bottom is April 1st.

Mikes monologue was a joke 💀
How to Save the World—Stranger Things 5
I’ve had some time to sleep on the episode titles and think about them, read theories, etc. and I now believe they might be real.
Hear me out: Stranger Things is all about cycles, parallels, tropes happening over and over again. The Duffers love taking a moment and repeating it in slightly different ways to prove a point. The story started with “The Vanishing of Will Byers” because we needed to place a small, innocent child in the center of our story, something to bring our character together and drive them to action. Well, that child is no longer in danger and our team is ripping apart at the seams. It’s almost like we need something similar to reunite everyone and drive them to action again.
Remember: The Duffers love parallels. Will’s disappearance brought his deeply fractured family together, uniting them for a common cause. It also brought Nancy and Jon together when their families needed them most. Now, the Byers are a united front, ready to tackle any monster that comes their way. They are the glorification of the avant-gard family. Now which family is struggling? The Wheelers. The perfect, All-American Nuclear Family: Mom, Dad, 3 kids, and a picket fence. They look perfect to the outside world, but behind closed doors, they are deeply struggling. They don’t communicate, the parents have no idea what’s happening in their children’s lives, and if they’re not careful, if they don’t come together and form a united front—they’re going to lose everything, potentially causing the end of the world. (Why? I haven’t gotten that far yet!)
Now, how do we inspire them to action? Maybe by taking the child who was born to save their crumbling marriage—the one has seen everything but, up until this point, been too young to contribute. Now, she’ll be the same age Will was when he disappeared and Mike and Will are the same age as Jon and Nancy. The Duffers are trying to illustrate the idea of “The Next Generation.” This evil, this Upside Down dimension is NEVER going to stop until someone from the Wheeler and Byers families breaks the cycle. Children will continue to vanish, the world will continue to crumble, until someone steps up and says ENOUGH. The Wheelers and Byers (parents and children) must step up and face their pasts in order to move forward.
The “Stranger Things” are not only LGBTQ+ matters, they are the skeletons we hide in the closet that literally eat us alive. They are the dark, festering parts of ourselves we don’t let anyone else see. The invisible cancers that slowly and silently kill us. Until we face them head on, until we bring them to the light, they will NEVER die. Stranger Things is about owning your past, facing your fears, and finding the light again.
So yes, Stranger Things will end with Will Byers making it home from Mike Wheeler’s house on November 6, 1983, but not in a time traveling way, in a finally letting go of that scared, pained little boy who thought the world was better off without him. It’s Mike accepting his sexuality and place in his family. His role as a leader. It’s Joyce accepting love from Hopper, who must accept that he is not actually cursed, but that sometimes, bad things happen to good people, even when they think they’re doing the right thing (Vietnam). it’s Karen and Ted falling in love again and fighting to save their family. It’s Eleven discovering that love, not anger, should fuel her powers. It’s mourning your stolen childhood while stepping into the version of yourself that child never got to be. It’s stopping the cycle and creating a better world for the Will Byers and Mike Wheelers and Jane Hoppers of tomorrow. THAT’S how you become a Hero.
the gross mischaracterisation of Steve Harrington's music taste is an unbearable crime goddamnit, this man has never even heard a pop song in his life! All the music he plays is either rock, new wave or indie music, we see this at his party and so the music playing in his car (which you can find lists of on what-song and similar sites).
someone on reddit noticed Steve is also wearing an outfit identical to one Freddie Mercury wore the same year season 4 is set. In fact, Steve regularly dresses similarly to Freddie Mercury, the more I look the more I see there's definitely influences of Freddie's casual fashion (not his show looks) in Steve's style; some of them, like the yellow jumper look the redditor noticed, are almost like for like. Why is this unusual? Maybe because Queen had tanked in America at the time, America's radio stations found them insulting in fact, so it's a big deal that Steve had Queen playing in his car, it means it wasn't on the radio by chance... he owned a copy himself
I'll have to rewatch but I'm pretty sure the only times Steve has mainstream 80s disco, dance or synth pop anywhere near him it's either someone else's party he's a guest at, and therefore has no say in the music, or he's referencing it to make fun of it (ie Tammy Thompson, and even then it was still pop rock).
Steve is a rock, by the looks of it mostly British bands too, I wouldn't be surprised if he knows The Clash just as well as Jonathan does and it's time people realize that and respect it
(edit: my dumbass misread post-punk as punk, feel free to throw rocks)
Stop making his Vecna songs disco, synth pop music and make it something he's actually shown to listen to
Lizzo's "About Damn Time": starts playing in the distance of Vecna's mind
Vecna: *starts dancing, popping that vecnussy*
Subtitles: [wet, squelching noises]
I just realized that the lyrics to About Damn Time start with "It's bad bitch o'clock" this needs to be Vecna's new catchphrase

I just had this awesome stranger things 4 volume two theory!!! Credit goes to @.dizay on tiktok for pointing this out.
So in the tiktok the user points out that in the D&D game in the first episode Dustin couldn’t beat Vecna when he rolled an ELEVEN. This foreshadows El being unable to beat Vecna alone, just like Brenner said. But at the same time as the D&D game is being played, Lucas wins the basketball game at the last second by scoring the winning shot. Guess what number he is? EIGHT!!! THIS could foreshadow Eight, aka Kali, coming to El’s rescue near the end.
Imagine this: El has just lost against Vecna, and a majority of not all of the cast have been captured and/or killed by Vecna. Vecna is making his victory speech that we hear in the trailer, and as he’s about to finish El off, the striking blow goes THROUGH her! He, along with the audience, realizes this was an illusion and that everyone is getting away!
Having Kali come back would be EPIC! I’ve always wondered what else the Duffer brothers were going to do with her, especially because she appeared only in season two and was never mentioned again. They’ve proven with clock noises throughout the series that there has been a plan this whole time, so I don’t think they’d introduce Kali just to further El’s arc in season two. I think they WANTED us to forget about her, so when she comes in and saves the day it’s even more amazing! This theory is supported by the fact that Kali was referred to briefly by Vecna during El’s time at the lab, and I don’t think she’s ever been mentioned before this outside of season 2.
Even if this theory is totally wrong, I still believe Kali will be back! Lucas getting the winning shot could be foreshadowing Kali’s triumphant return next season instead of this season. Who knows honestly, this show is so good at getting you thinking you know what’s up and then it turns out you actually don’t. Can’t wait for volume 2!!!
Major spoilers for st4 vol 2!!!!

Okay, so I know it’s a little early for this but I have some predictions about season 5:
- In the last Dustin has always been very insistent about solving mysteries related to the upside down. However Dustin’s face when he saw the upside down particles leads me to believe the trauma from Eddie’s death will affect his confidence. He looked absolutely terrified when he noticed the particles. This is foreshadowed by Steve and Eddie’s comments about “getting his ego in check”, which will happen but not in the way anyone would want it to. So in season 5 Dustin will have an arc that revolves around Eddie’s death and regaining his confidence.
- Max’s almost-death in vol 2 felt absolutely BRUTAL. But I don’t think the Duffers would have left her alive if they didn’t intend on bringing her back somehow. We heard from Brenner that when Vecna kills, he takes everything that a person is and absorbs it. This makes me believe that the reason Max isn’t waking up and El couldn’t find her is because her soul and memories are will Vecna. I think there will be an arc next season about rescuing Max, but I don’t know how.
- at the end of season 5 there was a very dramatic scene where you can see a HUGE gate to the upside down. It’s kind of hard to ignore, so I think maybe the rest of the world will find out about the alternate dimension.
- The supposed timeskip is the most confusing part of season 5. The Duffer brothers confirmed that there will be a timeskip of 2-3 years between seasons 4 and 5, but I’m not entirely sure how that will work. I think that maybe Hawkins will be ground zero for a war between humans and Vecna with his monsters. Nancy described him having an army, so this would line up.
I’m ready to be completely proven wrong when season 5 info starts releasing, but I just had to get these thoughts out.
god!! i'm loving this man

ONE Stranger Things 4.07 “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab”
Pls give me all your new stranger things trailer thoughts I am begging 🙏
AHHH OK OK OK, i would absolutely love to hear your thoughts too I’ll shoot you an ask so you can share yours too :)
so I’ll be totally honest I’m no good at like analyzing things like this and some of my takes may be kind of like commonly agreed upon things but here we go.
I think the only options of characters that could die are Eddie, Lucas, Robin, or Joyce. But I’m leaning towards probably Eddie, based on previous seasons dying character trends and Stranger Things wanting to keep its diversity HAHA. But it definitely could be Joyce, with that scene of Jonathan and Will hugging and looking all somber. But I would not be shocked if we see 2 or more deaths. I’m kind of expecting it. There’s SO many characters, all of which have prominent roles and distinct personalities, to sustain that for a future season 5 would be so difficult. And Robin’s line in the trailer pointed towards things not being so good. So. lots of death I’m thinking.
At like 1:26 in the trailer Steve and Nancy are like hacking away at vines trapping Robin? possibly? Against a wall, but her face and everything looks normal, so no Robin being taken by Vecna? That’s a godsend LMAO protect her at all costs.
Also. EDDIE. GUITAR SCENE. I can’t imagine what that would be, except maybe he can play peoples fave songs on guitar and save them that way idk. But I’m so excited for that that scene is gonna be so cool.
My main question. Nancy? In that hallway? By herself? Nancy seemed pretty determined not to go anywhere alone all season, and to not let anyone be alone (maybe cause of guilt over barb’s death way back?) So I’m not sure what that could mean, but definitely something goes very wrong for her to be separated. Also… Vecna? In the actual, non-upside down world? I’m curious to see this, and how the gang gets to and reacts to the facility where El was raised.
So much to look forward to and I am hoping for the best but fearing the worst 😭
Either way, part 2 is like movie length episodes so this is gonna be INSANELY cool.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk that’s the extent of things that stood out to me 😁
OKAY PAUSE I saw on tiktok that in season four of Stranger Things, music can help escape Vecna right?? Then someone said when Will was in the upside down in season one, he was singing ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’ which was the song that he listened to with Jonathan. ALSOOO Jonathan introduced that song to Will when Joyce and their dad were arguing/ fighting. AKA that is his trauma; WHICH IS WHAT ALL THE HOSTS OF VECNA HAVE IN COMMON!!!!
So my initial theory when I was watching the show was that any type of traumatic experience that any character had is what lead them to their death (and it was proven right later on in this season heheh). And then through Max’s scene we discovered that your favorite song/ music helps them escape Vecna. SO THAT EXPLAINS WHY WILL WAS SINGING THE SONG WHILE HE WAS IN THE UPSIDE DOWN BY HIMSELF!!!
