homare ramble incoming!!! continues for like, two more short paragraphs under the cut~

I feel like homare might get into states where he’s just writing for hours and hours at a time and he just ends up surrounded by pages of art with a euphoric tiredness afterwards. Like, this has probably happened all over the dorm/[possibly even veludo way] at this point. The first time it happened, homare was sitting in the common room, furiously writing in a notebook and turning page after page, and his troupe mates got kinda worried because he was so quiet? and practically unresponsive when spoken to. That is until someone from the spring troupe walked by, took a look at our resident poet, and recognised it as a similar ‘writing spree’ as tsuzuru gets sometimes. 

Eventually, mankai has gotten used to finding homare in the strangest of places, face either lit up with joy, or furrowed in concentration. Its become a general agreement that, depending on how long homare has been writing [usually determined by how many pages are nearby or how many people have seen him in that same position in the past few hours], someone brings him something to drink and eat. I feel like the first time he was given snackies while writing he kinda just, stopped and looked up, took a moment to process what happened, and just beamed so brightly. He was just so struck with love for his friends and the care they showed him when he was working!! The wholehearted support homare gets when he snaps out of his writing trance and comes down to the kitchen, [where omi has already made a meal for him] has homare just giddy with joy and moved to recite poetry as he walks the halls of the dorms.

On the occasions where homare falls into this in his room while hisoka is there, hiso is usually lulled to sleep by the scratching of the pen on the paper and the soft little noises homare makes while writing. But, if hiso wakes up and homare is still writing, he will go grab his bag of marshmallows and put one in front of homare on his desk so he could at least stop to eat one or two with him. :3

I’m not sure if this is just an American thing, but do y’all know ‘pass the pulse’? I’ve done it before all of the [3] different performances I've done theatre-wise and I really feel like it could be such a sweet thing for the troupes and mankai in general to take part in! For anyone who doesn't know, pass the pulse is usually done before performing for an audience, and it seems to be mostly done within theatre groups[I could be wrong here, just in my personal experience!!]. It entails everyone standing in a circle, silently, sometimes with your eyes closed, and you’re all holding hands. One designated person squeezes the hand of the person on their left or right, and then that person squeezed the hand of the person next to them, and so on until you get back to the first person. The squeezing is meant to be sort of like the ‘pulse’ of the group, and it’s meant to be a nice, calming moment of connection before a performance. The little tradition that the summer troupe had of putting their hands on tenma before performances kinda reminded me of this, but I would love to see all the troupes having a little moment before performances.

Imagine, if you please: 

After being taught a bit about Shakespeare by homare, muku decided to learn some monologues and present them to homare as a bit of a thank-you! sakuya walks by and recognizes the monologue, (bc theatre, baby) and they all become shakespeare reading buddies! This becomes a more regular thing as it does help them all with memorization, dictation, and pronunciation!! Homare loves teaching ‘the youth of mankai’ about the wonders of Shakespeare and is absolutely delighted when he finds sakuya and muku quoting Shakespeare at each other and reading the plays while hanging around the dorms.

I present to you, concept:

homare: Rise and shine dear friend!!!!! The time to begin our day has come upon us!! We mustn't delay and I shan't be taking no for an answer!!!

hisoka: 5 m're mins pls

homare: Of course!!! And if you attempt to sleep for any longer I shall simply tempt you out of bed ~avec chocolat chaud~!! [~with hot chocolate~ in french]

hisoka, peeking up from the covers with an inquisitive look: …?

homare: WITH THE LITTLE MARSHMALLOWS YOU ARE SO FOND OF!!

hisoka: begrudgingly scampers out of bed

homare and citron being language learning buddies?? YES PLEASE 

[this ended up kinda long, so just so y’all know, it continues after the cut!] also, if you like this, consider sending me asks or requests about anything a3! related! please just reference my pinned post on what i will/won’t write. :3 thank you and hope you enjoy my ramblings~~

As I will be writing about/referencing languages I am not entirely fluent in here, I just want you all to be aware that it is not my intention to offend anyone! I took care with my words, but if I in any way made an insinuation that was not correct/ offensive, please let me know!! I’d greatly prefer being corrected, over spreading misinformation. In terms of my personal language experience, i speak english natively, i have been learning french for about 5 years, i am attempting to teach myself basic japanese [haven't progressed very far lol],and i know a few phrases in arabic, but only verbally/auditorily [i only understand them when spoken]. I'm a bit of a language nerd, and i love learning phrases in other languages!!

You know, I really think citron and homare are language learning buddies!!! Like, citron is so much more intelligent and perceptive than he’s given credit for [citron appreciation post incoming? Mayhaps!!] and homare does tend to use languages other than japanese in his poems. If I'm not mistaken, he’s canonically used english and french words, both incorporated into his work in ways that are [pretty much] grammatically correct! Homare has also spoken about his love for Shakespeare, and while it’s likely he’s been reading translated versions, I wouldn't put it past him to try and learn enough english to read them while referencing a dictionary. 

As for citron, it seems to be canon that zahran is an arabic-inspired language, if not fully arabic. [side note: in arabic, zahran means ‘radiant/glowing/flower’ in most translations and is used as a name] It’s hard enough to learn and speak a language not your own, and knowing that the pronunciation, speaking, and writing patterns of arabic are not very similar to that of japanese makes the fact that citron is fluent in japanese with the occasional slip-up is very impressive!![also, take into account that i think we have evidence enough to say most of these ‘slip-ups’ are kinda on purpose to make the others laugh] If i am remembering correctly, i believe citron has also used words and phrases in english. which is also a really difficult language!!

Now, multilinguals do tend to bond over the difficulties and rewards of learning languages, and I really see this kind of relationship starting between citron and homare when they realise they both like learning languages!! Just, I'd imagine them comparing notes, quizzing each other on vocab and just learning better by doing it together!! I’d like to think that they have movie nights with whatever language they’re focusing on every now and then. I feel like citron would suggest it and homare would jump at the chance to learn new phrases and train his ear to recognise the speaking patterns better so he could incorporate it into his art. It just feels like there would be such a soft, gentle atmosphere as they slowly get engrossed in the film, notepads and pens left to sit on the couch and other members of mankai sitting around the tv screen, following along with the subtitles. Also consider, making multilingual puns >:3. 

(Not exactly part of the hc, but i just wanted to share this because it made me happy!! In english there’s the phrase, “Birds of a feather, flock together.”, meaning people who are similar/have similar interests gravitate towards each other. In french, that phrase is approximately, “Les oiseaux avec le même plumage, s'assemblent a le même rivage”. Which directly translates to, -birds with the same feathers gather at the same river- which has the same meaning as the one in english! Now, the thing that really gets me about these phrases is, 

THEY BOTH RHYME!!!!!! 

I love rhymes and literary devices in any language, but i just adoreee that these two phrases happen to rhyme in both languages!!)

Heya~ can I have some Juza and Sakuya friendship headcanons? The clumsy yet earnest duo is so underrated and I would love to see more of them as buddies 🥺🥺🥺 ~🍁

-they look up to each other in different ways!! Juza admires sakuya’s talent and outgoing attitude, and sakuya admires juza’s drive and thinks he’s really cool!! They both admire each other’s passion for acting!!

-Juza also really appreciates that saku is a good role model for kumon and tried to thank him for it, but sakuya insisted that he loved helping others, and it was his duty as a troupe leader to help anyone who needs it, even if they aren't from his troupe!

-Juza once expressed his admiration for how sakuya seemed to be really good at portraying emotion and giving all around good delivery + intonation to his lines, and sakuya retaliated with complimenting juza on his passion and rapidly growing skills in improv and general stage presence

-If u havent noticed already, they are cotton-candy levels of sweet :3

-Sakuya secretly wants to know juza’s workout routine

-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA they’re angels

-Saku knows that sometimes juza doesnt talk alot, not in a rude way, but he’s just a bit quiet, so he doesnt push juza to socialize but he’ll keep talking to him so he knows he’s not being left out

-On that note, sakuya has made it a point to specifically ask juza his opinion on something during group conversations to get him a bit more out there

-Sakuya really does love seeing the hyodo-sasika family interact, and when they all collectively noticed his yearning for a family dynamic, they pretty much adopted him. Saku comes over for dinner with juza and kumon, sometimes with muku, and sometimes with all of them!!! Their parents adore saku vv much

-Juza once saw sakuya climbing onto a counter to get something from the top shelf and remembered how kumon does the same, from then on he told sakuya to ask him if he needed help reaching something

-Its kinda funny, they have an older-younger brother dynamic, but depending on the situation its like they switch roles

-Usually sakuya is like an older brother tho

Sakuya looks around him while sitting in the common room. Muku is happily showing azuma his favorite scenes from his most recent manga, tsuzuru is trying his best to scrape together dinner, and kumon is pleading with yuki to get him to play cat’s cradle. “You have such nimble lithe fingers! You’d be great at it!!” “What, and get my hands all sore and have to make the puppy embroider this shirt? I don't think so” “C’mon pleaseee?? Just for 5 minutes??” “Tch, fine I guess.” Sakuya is surrounded by love.

Omi reaches over the sofa and ruffles sakuya’s hair. “A little bird who was up late told me you were studying past midnight. You feelin’ ok?” Sakuya beamed up at Omi’s thoughtfulness. “Ah, i was hoping no one would notice if i was quiet enough. But yeah… I had a history quiz today and I was cramming. But I remembered all the answers!! Well, except for that one that involved dates, I might have been off by a year or too...” “Well, I’m glad you did a good job! We’re all proud of you, you know that, right?” Sakuya paused. Proud? Proud of him? Proud? Omi, stood for a moment, then understanding hit him, sakuya wasn’t used to this. Unsure how to proceed, he laid his hand on the little kid’s shoulder and rubbed his thumb slowly back and forth. “I mean it.” Sakuya is surrounded by love.

The two grab cups of milk and go to sit in the courtyard, with a plate of a few canelés between them.

Sakuya knows he is loved.

When first learning different languages (i think he knows at leaaassst 3, if not the basics of more), Citron watched and listened to children’s programs and songs to get used to the basics of the language down. Because of this, Citron recognizes dozens of cartoon characters, songs, and the like from a ton of shows. Citron LOVES playing around with kids and they think it's cool that he knows so much!! Like!!! Just imagine Citron and a circle of lil kids singing along to one of the songs from a popular series and they’re all having so much fun!!!! Since pretty much all the people in the neighborhood know and like Citron, he’s trusted very much by exhausted parents who just cant keep up with the energy of their 5 year olds. One day he was helping a dad put his kid to sleep by telling the little dude fairy tales from Zafra and by the time he was done a flock of tots surrounded him asking for another one. (the adults were listening too but shhh) It became a sweet little routine that whenever Citron stopped by the park he would sing and tell stories to the kids to get them calmed down to go home. All the parents are forever grateful and everyone has fun!

Hnmmhgng,..,,howww,,.,.how!! *shakes fists* how do i express how much i adore citron and how smart he is and how he deserves so much more respect in measly words!!!! asfdkjnkjdsksfnj i would like to shout and scream!!!

Banri 100% mentally checks out during zoom classes and somehow always manages to get the answers right when called on at random. 

From his home lines, we know that Azuma hates bugs. I’d like to imagine that when he was in his room alone and a bug friend came along he would kinda freeze and lock eyes with the little critter. While keeping eyes on it, he calls over one of the winter troupe members (it usually ends up being Tasuku{sometimes Tsuzuru and Omi automatically walk on over because they’re used to ‘bug removal duty’}), and they have to scoot the bug onto a piece of paper and let it go outside. A few weeks after Guy shows up, Azu kinda just leans over and lightly tugs on his sleeve to let him know there’s a leggy critter. (Guy doesn’t mind insects all that much, and it freaks out Azuma every time Guy holds one in his hand when he can’t find paper)

-Often when he’s gaming he’ll have you lean against him or cuddle up in his lap

-He has acquired a hoard of blankets (fandom merch bc yes) and plushies of his favorite characters so his bed is much softer and comfier than you’d imagine (but yes, there are crumbs on his bed, you’d have to hound him to get him to dust it off)

“ ‘Taru bby please, I'm begging you, stop eating doritos in bed.”

“You still love me tho, right?”

-I’m pretty sure that proportionally muku is stronger than he is, so if you fall asleep on him he’s stuck.,,.but he wouldn’t move anyways because likes u~~~

-But you might be woken up by his furious button mashing

-I think he’d also get so into gaming that on occasion he doesn't speak for like, hours. So if he wants you to scoot closer he’ll just pull on your shirt

-Also! You know how itaru has that mini ponytail? I know from experience that having your hair up for a while kind of hurts, so if you kinda run your hands through his hair after he takes out the ponytail he will melt (the first time he will pull out some money bc there was no way you were doing this for free, right?)

okokokokokok, let's get down to business!

-the hugs

-the fucking hugs

-holy shit the hugs

-this man is giant so he’ll usually have to bend down a bit to give you a proper hug but he says it's worth the back pain (he’s exaggerating dw <3)

-like, he's super warm and cozy and he just loves hugging and holding his s/o. He adores keeping physical contact with you at all times so even while he’s cooking or working on something he’ll want to be in arm’s reach of you. [he’ll absentmindedly squish your cheek sometimes and waaaajnckjndkfvdshf]

-if you don't particularly like physical contact dw!!! Omi is all about communication and making sure you both feel comfy, so he’ll always ask before touching you or getting closer. If you don't like it at all he’ll simply find other ways to express his affection!

-there’s a part of his wall in his dorm room that has a bunch of pictures and cheesy little love notes you’ve written to each other taped to the wall with some pretty brown patterned washi tape. They’re all specifically placed to be at your eye level so you don't have to get on your tiptoes or climb anything to see the papers at the top. It was originally a surprise for you for your first anniversary! You call it your little collage and over time you both add pictures and little mementos like dried flowers or museum tickets.

-not in a mean way, but he will occasionally rest something on your head just to ease the weight off of his wrist for a second, you just happen to be at the perfect height I’m sorry babe. This has included everything from a small book, to a stack of papers, to a FUCKING FRYING PAN OMI BABY ANGEL WHAT’RE YOU DOING?? (dw it wasn’t hot yet!!!)

-one time when baking brownies with him, you two decided to chill on the couch to wait for them to finish baking. It was so cozy and warm and comforting that both of you dozed off and didn’t hear the alarm go off. Just about a minute after it finished, Omi's internal baking clock went off and he shot up and ran to get to the oven. Unfortunately the way he got up knocked you to the carpeted floor and you just kinda sat there laughing at your omimi

-(he didn't notice at first because he was half-asleep, but when he did, he ran back over to you to make sure you weren't hurt. It was adorable to see him run over to you with the oven mitts on, tray in one hand, messy hair, and the most concerned look on his face <3)

-“Yooo! This smells super good! Didn't know you could cook so awesomely!” he laughs, unrestrained and loud. Tilting his head he asks, “So! Who's this one for? The boss? Ooo, or the boss lady? Oh wait wait wait, is it for Fushimi so he can check your recipe?”

-Once you tell him the lunch is actually for him, his jaw will drop for a second, then his shocked expression will morph into the biggest grin you could imagine!!

-You can almost see stars in his eyes and little puppy ears perking up! If he had a tail it’d be waggin’!

-His favorite food!!!! Made specially for him!!! From you!!! For him?!?!?!!? :D

-If you’ve handed it to him at the beginning of the day he’ll literally be excited for it all day long and during lunch he will not stop telling Sakyo about how you made lunch for him!!!

-But if you give it to him roughly around lunchtime, he will plunk down on the floor right then and there and share the lunch with you!

-“Ooo this piece looks super good!! Ok here here, I’ll cut it in haaalf” (he’s struggling a bit with the chopsticks, give him a moment...) “GOT IT!!! Ok now say ‘aaaa’” :D

-He’s gonna try his best that night to make you a lunch for tomorrow, and with a teeny bit of help from Tsuzuru he’s made a super cute little lunch for you!

Tsuzuru sometimes turns on a recording app on his phone and just talks out loud to get examples of natural sounding dialogue and nice lines. He occasionally walks into the common room and starts conversations with himself because he just didn’t notice he wandered out of his room and he manages to make an entire round of the building just spewing nonsense into his phone. Masumi walked behind him and filmed the entire thing, occasionally muttering “What the hell is he doing?” while Tsuzuru literally lifts a vase, holds it for a minute, and puts it down, and keeps walking. His brain was not on </3

[Masumi sends the video to the company group chat with the caption ‘this is what i’m living with’ and everyone just loses their minds]

On occasions where Tsuzuru is dead tired but still conscious, he tends to speak in really vague, incomplete sentences. The spring troupe got used to it pretty quickly, and will automatically respond to Tsuzu’s “.,mmmnmnmnm....day?” with Citron jubilantly shouting “Saturday!” and Itaru checking his phone to give the exact date and time (bc let’s be honest, Tsuzuru has woken up at 1 pm before and fully believed it was morning until Kazu teased him for still eating cereal in his pajamas so late in the day).

How about Izumi forgetting things because our girl is trying to manage 20 men and side jobs in other theaters? For example, she is coming down from her room to lounge to drink a water but when she enters in, she just forgets what she was going to do and everyone asks “Director, why are you just standing there lol” and she starts to question herself in a comedic sense lolol

Sajnknfdakjsnfs ok this is actually hilarious!!!

-Izumi literally does so much work, and yet she seems to keep up a very chipper and fun attitude. Like?? How does she do it???? 

-(Being in the vicinity of curry probably just gives her a boost of energy)

-I feel like Izumi would be the type to keep working until her brain cannot process words anymore, so she's in the kitchen holding what she thinks is a napkin to wipe off the counter. (She's actually holding some of Yuki’s fabric that he just finished pinning together.)

-Yuki’s dramatic gasp of horror was enough to snap Izumi out of it and immediately start apologizing to him. He then ordered her to go to take a nap, and strangely enough, Izumi didn’t even question it.

-Tsumugi has bumped into her in the garden. She was just,,,.standing there,.,.mayhaps she was photosynthesizing? Is the director a flower now? He was so tempted to take his watering can and sprinkle a little bit on her head, but he kinda just, gently tapped on her shoulder until she floated back to earth. Apparently she was going out for groceries and her brain just shut down the second she stepped outside.

-After a couple of these incidents, Sakyo has Sakoda bring him a copy of Izumi’s schedule every week and he’ll go through the list, looking for things to take off her plate so she can get enough rest in. he’ll also ask Winter troupe to look after her a bit because he trusts them to be gentle with it.

-Izumi has found herself getting invited to tea by Homare every Wednesday, and Guy, Azuma, and Tsumugi meditate and burn incense with her on occasion. 

-Hisoka and Misumi were enlisted to watch to make sure she doesn’t space out anywhere dangerous, and to make sure to drag her to take naps when necessary.

-He’ll always try to help in any way he can in terms of putting together looks.

-Is this prop accurate? He’s already pulling up high-quality images of the character’s prop from at least 3 angles for you to check.

-Having trouble carrying your bags at an event while decked out in foam armor? He’s got all of them don't worry bby!!

-He’s very useful in terms of helping to check the accuracy of little details with his encyclopedic knowledge of all the things he’s interested in.

-He will also nag you to make sure that whatever you’re wearing is comfortable, and that if you wear any makeup, you always check for harsh chemicals and clean it off properly as soon as you can. <3

-He tends to chill out with any physical affection when you’re cosplaying because he doesn't want to mess up any of it, so he’ll stick to just holding your hand (cutieeee waaa)

-He seems to keep better tabs on your inventory than you do, so every now and then he’ll throw a mini palette at you or a bottle of foundation or whatever product you’re running low on.

-“Yo, you don’t have any nice purple shades left and I know you’re about to put together a cosplay of that alien character, so I got you this palette. I think it should be good enough. Oh right! I also got a bottle of that mi-cellular water thing you use, this one should be gentler on your skin.” (he can never remember how to say ‘micellar water’)

-Also super good at cleaning makeup brushes, so if you’re exhausted at the end of the day you can pretty much just toss them all to him and pass out, when you wake up they’ll all be nice and clean!

Tenma once put his hand flat on the hot end of an iron because he "didn't know where the heat came out of". Yeaaa, that hand burned and it was real ouchie for about a week. Thankfully, Misumi helped him out with holding things around the dorm. As far as anyone at school knows, he got burned while catching a hot pan that would have fallen on his director, like the total gentleman he is. (Banri laughs his ass off every time one of the kids from Tenma's class comes by Mankai to check on the ‘hero’.)

Yes hewwo it is being soft over muku hours. I just love love love how when muku quite literally plays pretend and acts out scenes from his manga everyone mostly just goes with it!! Like, they engage with him and he assigns roles and they act it out and ahjhjsdhv jkshdiowqjijcnjnes I’M SO HAPPY THAT THIS KID IS GETTING SUPPORT AND LOVE!! I love that muku is never really told to stop being ‘childish’ and his imagination is fostered in mankai :) (WAIT JUST AS I WAS AB TO POST THIS ITHOUGHT OF PLAYWRIGHT!MUKU OMG I MIGHT BE ONTO SOMETHING HERE.,.,.,THIS WILL BE IN A FUTURE POST FOR SURE.,,.:D)

-He really does adore hugs but if you don't warn him beforehand he’ll make this little noise of surprise because he isn't 100% used to casual affection (he does really love it.,,.he feels hella stiff but i assure you he’s melting on the inside)

- when embarrassed he kinda presses his lips together in a line and it's so cute looking gsakndjfskndndk

-the most he really can do in public is ruffle your hair a bit, but behind closed doors he’s one hell of a cuddlebug

-very quiet when hugging you too! He just can’t understand how magical it feels and he thinks if he opens his mouth he’ll say something stupid, so he’s content to sit there for hours in comfortable silence

-your positivity and praise tho?

-oh honey please he already has an inflated ego (/jkjkjkjkjkjk)

-truly though, i feel like tenma is, on a fundamental level, quite in need of a good bit of genuine validation, so hearing you comment on something he did really well? Nmnmnmnmn tenma melting part 2

-if you ever happen to sit in on a practice or rehearsal and comment specifically on something he does well, he will have to literally walk away because he’s so red in the face and so so so happy about it

-all in all he’s quite new to being so vulnerable and trusting with someone else, but he really is a sweet kid, i promise you that
