maybe its just because im in a pensive little mood right now, but i’ll try to confine it all into a little white txtpost on a little social media website. but when i put words and ideas in a search bar with the thought of what im going to get back in results, im just taken by a strange... emotion, when i dont get what i expected.
‘omg theyre so online they just discovered surprise’ no, its not surprise. its like... its not relief either -- but there’s something to be said about how people are constantly worried that AI is going to take over their jobs because of recent jumps like chatgpt existing and how whenever i type things into the search and dont get what i want back im like ... yeah, maybe computers and the human mindreading capabilities of AI are a long ways off -- its like love and joy.
its love and joy that i came looking for, say, sand, and got waves and oceans and ships and even cats back. like, hello, cats? how is that in any way related to what i searched?
and i still end up reading the little textposts in the results i get back bc i love how the computer thought that was somehow related and how humanity is so tightly strung together in our minds and our feelings and words that everything crosses over into everything.
Personally, I think the AI is misjudged. As always, there is far too much hype about something that is currently only about beta testers in many areas. Namely, a herd of voluntary users who optimize the incomplete product free of charge for the tech giants. Click workers for free.
Dangers yes but first open the Pandora's box and let it run and then talk about ethical principles. But only talk and warn not implement. Whether only nuclear energy or chemical weapons to bio weapons first make and then look.
The same problem happens again, we are simply not capable of learning whether only genetic manipulation or AI we run after the progression because it could be another faster.
Ultimately, it is the great challenge which will bring about an entire social transformation. That will be so drastic that no area of life remains untouched.
All this takes place without restrictions and any ethical basis. It leads us not into the as always promised paradisiacal future but into the irresponsibility of the individual. For example, why does facial recognition AI software need to recognize everyone to protect society?
Isn't it enough just to search for the people who are criminals and are wanted by court order!
All those the software does not recognize are irrelevant, thus false negatives.
However, it is not so you want to be able to judge whether someone is suspicious and perhaps criminal or even terrorist is on the road.

But this is error-prone and thus antisocial and dangerous.
If someone sweats at the airport and has anger in his face, this means an error assessment if it goes wrong. If one would be a terrorist, one injects Botox and has no anger and no hatred in the face but only the indifference of a misguided person whose act can only be resolved in retrospect. The more data you have to analyze, the longer the analysis takes. So why make the pile of straws bigger when you are only looking for the pins. Is my question!

Ok dude what is up with the algorithm?? 😭 I post these hugely detailed theories that I’m proud of for coming up with and worked really hard on and they get like 3 notes each over the course of 2 weeks and then I post like 5 shitposts and they each get like 11 notes in a hour????? Maybe it’s bc I’ve only posted like 10 things but I’m just so confused 😭😭

Fuck these these algorithm.
I am mad about cellphone cameras hiding the processing they do, and I am glad about software that lets me control it and opt in and out, and I dictated this rant on insta so I am resharing the images here and will attempt to turn this into a useful text post on my blog in future, when my hand is working better 🤘👍
Alright I think I'm starting to figure out how Tumblr works.
It doesn't matter what I post, the only thing that matters is that it's everyday in the same hour and connected to some fandom (or furries it seems). Only when I posted for three days in a row my old posts that I thought were going to be big got big (relatively to other posts).
The problem is that I figured this out yesterday and won't be fast enough to draw anything for today. Let's see if pure text will do!
Advice appreciated too.
Sometimes the youtube algorithm is right
I agree 100%, specially as a small/beginner artist my reach on Twitter and Instagram is basically just my friends, art mutuals and 2-3 new people. On Tumblr I get up to 25 likes and they're all from strangers (some that are followers, but most aren't).
Twitter is like that person you have to beg to do the bare minimum because they simply do not care about it or about you. You have to post it and you have to follow some rules otherwise it flops, and it never gets shown to your followers, specially if it's old. No more than 3 hashtags or you're a bot, no links or mentions otherwise the post gets shadowbanned. It's a bunch of small rules that we have to learn through trial and error, and they change all the time.
Tumblr on the other hand feels very kind and patient with me, like a parent looking at my drawing and saying "How nice! It's going in the fridge!" and I'm like "Yiiipppee!!".
And it doesn't just stay on the fridge for a day and tough luck if anyone missed it - it's still there, maybe behind new drawings but you still can see it! Your old drawings aren't ignored, your new ones don't have to be rushed or come at specific times. There's no flopping, just maybe a delayed response.
Please never change Tumblr algorithm, I love you, you are very nice to me.
As an artist, the tumblr algorithm is like a comfy bed for me. I have to fight for my life on twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, but on tumblr I can post at 1 am and get just as much reach as if I posted at peak browsing hours. I can go a week without posting and my followers will still see it. My posts keep circulating instead of being dead 3 days after I make them. Thank you tumblr
