queer and trans people are under constant pressure to be educators and advocates to the people around us. and because we are so often expected to educate those who hate us and maintain constant vigilance to advocate at a moments notice, we sometimes forget common sense and decency, choosing to engage in bad faith discourse to the detriment of our community.

sometimes it’s better to just let someone be wrong quietly instead of making noise about it because if they are willing to learn, then they will eventually. and by arguing and engaging in bad faith, you might actually be doing more harm than staying silent because your engagement might be preventing someone from being able to learn in the future.

our community is far more important than our individual pride and it’s important to remember that.
