"Whoa, what a rare guest. Why were you waiting... sorry, will be waiting... oh, ARE waiting here?"
Petey did his best to hide his creeps. Everyone sensible (including adults) felt wary about Idris - the strangest lady in the neighbourhood and at the same time the eternal mate of Time-o-thee Alistair Rassilon Doxter Ivan Smith, aka Mr. Tardis for those who knew. Her old-fashioned (and old) puffy dresses and high hairstyles were the least part of it. Most of the time she stayed calm and enjoyed commenting everything in her specific way (which included mixing tenses, as if she didn't feel sure about time), but sometimes she could break out

This is my first Doctor who Fanfiction.
This is also a Susan story with her as the Protagonist and the main POV of this Fanfiction.
The Bad guys of this story are retooled Danganrompa Ocs but they would fit well in both Fandoms stories (Or at least in my own opinion.)
By the time I’m writing this post the story’s 3rd chapter will still be being written.
Also! Feedback is a Huge welcome because I want to be a better writer/Author in the future and Writing Fanfiction will help me practice it!
So yeah! Lots of Feedback and extra thoughts will help me out ALOT!!!

As Long As Adventure Calls
Pairing: Tenth Doctor x reader
Word Count: 708
Summary: The Doctor is being unusually silent and the reader wonders what’s bothering him. The answer is unexpected, and so are the results.
Warnings:
A/N: I hope you like it!~

The Doctor was silent today. Silence usually wasn’t his forte, but today he was lost in the darkest recesses of his ever-whirring mind.
You hadn’t disturbed him, but you were worried. He had never been so silent before, at least not for as long as you’d known him, which was about a year and a half now if your calculations were correct.
After approximately half a day, you just couldn’t take the silence any more.
“What’s wrong?” you asked the Doctor, and he looked up, meeting your inquisitive gaze with his intense brown one. Even now, after so long, the weight of his gaze startled you. It was old, and full of memories and guilt and so many emotions that churned behind his always-calm façade if you knew where to look.
“There’s nothing wrong,” he said, eyes sparkling with life and mouth tilting upwards in a smile.
You frowned, not believing him. “There is something bothering you. I don’t know what it is, but it is something, and it must be important for you to be that quiet and thoughtful all day long,” you said, and this time he didn’t try to contradict you. You watched, heart breaking slowly, as the smile fell off his face to be replaced by tightly pursed lips, and his eyes lost their lively brightness. He looked tired, lost, defeated. For one moment, you caught a glimpse of exactly how old he was. Every year, every thought and memory and burden he had to carry was evident in the slight slump of his shoulders and the extinguished spark in his eyes.
His loss of control was momentary, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. He was his normal, thoughtful, self just half a second later.
“I’ll tell you what’s wrong, Y/n,” he said with a sigh.
“You’ve been with me for so long -and don’t get me wrong, I love it; I love every single second of it. Every exhilarating adventure we’ve been through has brought me joy and all the seconds we spend together are some of the very best of my entire life. But… if there is one thing I know for certain it’s that every single good thing in life ends. Everyone leaves in the end, no matter how many times they say they’re going to stay. I was wondering… when our time would be over,” he said, sadly looking at you.
You were speechless. Had he really been thinking of all that? And could he honestly think that after all those wonderful things you two had gone through, you would just leave him?
You shook your head. “Doctor, no… Don’t think that way. I won’t leave. Our time isn’t over; not yet. I’ll be here to go on adventures with you for as long as adventures will be there to go on. I promise. I could never leave you,” you say, looking at him with wide, honest, eyes and willing him to understand that you would never willingly give up on him.
He could see the honesty in your eyes. He really wanted to believe you, and in the end that side won.
“Thank you,” he said truthfully. “Thank you for not discarding my worries aside. You care about me the same way I care about you,” he said, taking a few steps closer to you and grasping your hand in his.
“Doctor…” you muttered, and something in his eyes made you want to continue with your spree of truthfulness.
“You can’t care for me the same way I do for you, because… I love you. I love you so much,” you confessed. You didn’t know how to feel about your confession. Part of you wanted to turn the clock backwards and take those words back but the larger, more insistent part of you told you to wait and see.
“You do?” he asked incredulously, and you were surprised to see his eyes light up with a million sparks when you nodded. He grinned and leaned down to press his lips to yours in an eager kiss that made your heart melt in a puddle at your feet.
“That’s a wonderful thing! Because I love you too! And also because we have an adventure waiting!” the Doctor said, his eyes gleaming eagerly.
“Allons-y!”
Staying In
Pairing: Eleventh Doctor x reader
Word Count: 791
Summary: The Doctor and Y/N are just relaxing in the TARDIS.
Warnings: None. Cuteness, if that counts.
A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day!

“So, Y/N…. Where to?” asked the Doctor, grinning wildly at you. His grin was so Doctor-ish, so mad and intelligent and confusing all at once that it always managed to leave you weak at the knees. And his face… deceptively so young, it was in reality as old as time itself. Seeing him smile despite everything he’d been through both before and during his travels with you made you content and you smiled in return, because if a man who’d seen so much destruction and had suffered through losses the like of which the universe had never seen before could smile and be full of joy, then so could you; so could anyone.
“Well… to tell you the truth, Doctor, I just want to stay inside for once,” you told him and saw a look of confusion cross his face. You always were eager to cross time and space to see new galaxies and visit places long-forgotten or not-yet created, so your denial was an unusual reaction.
“You do?” he asked with a frown, taking a seat next to you on the floor of the TARDIS’s control room, bringing his legs up to his chest and hugging them.
You nodded. “Yeah. It’s not like I never want to go on a journey again, I just… I want some rest. You know, stay inside with a book, take a long shower or just talk with you. It’s been such a long time since I last took a breath while knowing that nothing wants to kill me or that the end of some world or other is nigh,” you said, closing your eyes and taking a deep, relaxing breath and then letting it out again.
“Please. Just for today. You could do with the rest too,” you added, blindly reaching out to pat his knee.
You felt him startle at the contact and you opened your eyes and turned to face him, staring into his green eyes.
“Okay,” he said, nodding, only after a short period of silence. “Let’s rest, if so you wish. But tomorrow, first thing after we wake up, we leave. We go see the most peculiar and interesting corners of the universe that ever existed or will exist,” he said, his green eyes sparkling as he spoke fondly about the world.
“Yes. I’d like that,” you said, and then you stayed silent. Both of you just sat there, looking at each other in companionable and comfortable silence. He was smiling brightly, fondly at you, and you hoped that your own smile was just as affectionate and radiant.
“What do we do now?” he asked, and his question drifted off into oblivion, as you didn’t reply.
You didn’t know what to say. What did two people do when they were alone together in a time machine in which they had travelled the stars? What could two people who had no secrets from each other, no misgivings or doubts and who had done and seen everything do?
There was no answer to that, at least not one that you knew, so you remained silent, because silence always was the best option when you had nothing left to say.
As you should have known though, the Doctor didn’t like the silence much. He could only hold your gaze for so long before he started shifting uncomfortably where he was sitting and sometimes looking away.
You looked away too, sighed, and closed your eyes to rest them for a minute. Your hand was still resting on his knee and you felt rather than saw his own bigger hand cover yours.
“Look at me again,” he said simply, and you opened your eyes to meet his gaze again, but this time something had changed.
His eyes, the look in them, had changed now. It was heated, needy, and shifted from your eyes to your lips all the time.
Deciding to take the initiative, you leaned closer to him, fighting to keep your breath steady as you could feel his own warm up your face.
With a last decisive gulp and a thought that shyness could go to hell, you closed the distance that separated your lips and pulled him into a long, passionate kiss. Your tongue traced the outline of his lips as he panted into your mouth and his one hand clenched in his hair just as his other slid down to your waist, pulling you closer.
Eventually, you pulled away, both grinning brightly -too brightly- and then you finally spoke.
“I have an answer to your question now,” you said breathily, a smirk on your lips.
“What question?” he asked.
“About what we’re gonna do,” you replied.
“And what’s the answer?” he inquired again.
“This,” you replied and leaned closer to kiss him again.
Wherever You Are
Pairing: Tenth Doctor x reader
Word Count: 604
Summary: The Doctor is acting unusually shy, and it’s up to the reader to find out why.
Warnings: Fluff
A/N: Happy birthday to David Tennant! <3

The Doctor is a lot of things, but shy is not one of them. He’s brave and intelligent and daring, but under no circumstances is he shy, unless he’s acting. He does that often to get you both out of trouble, but timid is not one of the words one would use to describe him, and they would be absolutely right not to use it.
Thing is, right now, he’s very obviously shy. He’s fiddling with his Sonic Screwdriver and occasionally muttering to himself and avoiding your inquisitive and curious gaze like the plague.
Still, that doesn’t stop you from staring at him.
Well, to be precise, staring at his suit-jacket-covered back as he tinkers around with stuff in the control room of the TARDIS, refusing to let you see his face -which is flushed red by now, and you have no idea why- and not uttering a word or making a sound.
All in all, his behaviour is very un-Doctor-like, and it shows no sign of changing anytime soon unless you do something.
“Doctor,” you call out at some point, and he is so startled by the sound of your voice that he turns around, dropping his Sonic Screwdriver as he does so.
“Y-yes, Y/n?” The Doctor stutters, which also is very weird for him.
You decide to tackle the problem head-on and not sugarcoat things.
“Is everything okay?” you ask him, an expression of concern on your face, the worry probably evident in your voice too.
“Um…” he falters, thinking of what to say next. “Why do you ask that?” he finally decides on answering your question with an inquiry of his own.
Sighing and rolling your eyes, you smile at him. “I’m glad you asked that, actually, because you have given me lots of reasons to think that you are not okay. First off, you’ve been ignoring me for the biggest part of the day without an explanation, and you’ve been acting nervous and… I think you were blushing at some point, too,” you explain, and his nervousness returns full force.
“Well… you’re right. I am a bit off today, but I have a very, very good reason for being like this,” he says, assuming a matter-of-fact tone and straightening up.
“I want to take you out on a date,” he states confidently, only a small hesitation in which he licks his lips betraying his nervousness.
“What do you say? Will it be a yes or a no?” he asks, seeming a bit like an impatiently expectant child.
You are taken aback by his unusual request, but it doesn’t seem bad to you and, well, if he really means it then that would explain why he was acting weirdly before.
“A date? What kind of a date?” you ask, just to clarify, because you can never be one hundred percent sure when it comes to the Doctor and the bizarre things he asks you to do. You, of course, want it to be the kind of date two people who like each other quite a lot go on, but, as you said, one can never be sure with the Doctor.
He blushes again.
“Well… I was thinking the more romantic kind of date, somewhere nice and cosy like, say, the Titanic before it sank or the Earth’s moon, or another planet entirely,” the Doctor suggests, and you can’t say no. You don’t want to, either. You want to say yes, yes, yes.
“Yes,” you finally reply, smiling at him. “Though doesn’t the Titanic sound a bit extreme? We might be tempted to save people if we make friends with them, and that would disturb the time stream, right?” you ask, and he nods, excited at the fact that you have learned the rules of time.
“You’re right. I wasn’t thinking properly. Where do you want to go?” he asks again, apparently very excited at the prospect of the date.
You chuckle and blush, rather excited yourself.
“Um… well, let’s just go wherever you want. The universe is huge, and you know it better than I do,” you say, and he nods.
“Right!” he says, walking up closer to you and pulling you into a hug.
“Of course!” he exclaims then, pulling back from the hug, but pressing his lips to yours in an excited kiss that sends tingles running through your body.
You can only stare at him as he runs around, pulling levers and pushing buttons, and soon the TARDIS is wheezing, signalling its departure.
“Where are we going?” you ask, smiling radiantly at him, glad to be met with the usual bright, a bit crazy, look in his eyes.
“To my favourite place in the entire universe,” he says with a grin.
“Where’s that?” you ask, and he pulls you closer to kiss you once again.
“Wherever you are.”
A moment of calm
Rating: PG-13;
Pairing: Ninth Doctor/Rose Tyler; Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler
Genres: AU, Fix-it, Hurt/Comfort, Drama Missing Scene, Romance, Fluff, Time-lapse;
Description: My vision of the series "Girl in the Fireplace".
Number of pages: 4
Glass crackling. So deafening that Rose squeezed her eyes shut and stepped back, stumbling out of the blue and falling. The landing caused a sharp pain in her spine, but the cold of the metal floor brought the girl to her senses somewhat. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around. In place of the window of time through which the Doctor had passed on horseback, now... there was nothing. No different from the rest, except for the remaining fragments of glass, a passage into one of the endless corridors of the spaceship. The realization took Rose's breath away, and she sat up with a jerk, belatedly remembering the injury and wincing in pain.
Yes, the Doctor said that the TARDIS couldn’t interfere, because they had become part of the events. That it's impossible to break through the wall. That if you break the glass, then the time window will also break. There will be no turning back. But deep down, Rose hoped the Doctor would find another way. A way to go back. To get back to her. But it's so hard to believe it, left alone with herself... taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and two images appeared before her. One is a man in a leather jacket, the other is a guy in a long light brown raincoat. It was worth thinking about them, somehow comparing them, and Rose felt her heart sink painfully. No, she can't do that! She can't compare them. They are completely different, and neither the girl herself, nor the Doctor, her first Doctor, could have known what the regeneration would turn out to be. This process is unpredictable, which makes everything even sadder.
On the other hand, she was haunted by the feeling that she regretted the missed opportunities. She regrets that she spent so little time with the Doctor before his regeneration. It's scary to even imagine how boring and insipid her life would have been if she hadn't agreed to travel with him a second time. But the Doctor admitted that he had never offered it to anyone twice before. Doesn't that mean she was special? Or did it just happen that he wanted to interrupt a series of endless lonely days, and fate pushed them together? In fact, the Autons were just looking for a place to stay, and who would have thought that the store where she works would be on the way? In her place, there could be absolutely any girl, the same Sherin, but she was lucky. She was lucky to dilute the gray everyday life with adventures in time and space.
But she was more concerned about another question. Why did she so easily trust a stranger who had saved her life three times? Was she so desperate that she was ready to believe in any miracle and rush to meet him like a little girl when she saw a man in a Santa Claus costume? No, Rose stopped believing in miracles a long time ago. Back when, at the age of sixteen, she dropped out of school for a popular guy, she was faced with the fact that not all relationships end happily ever after…
The Doctor exuded calmness and confidence. She wanted to follow him, even when he didn't have a plan. He wanted to trust, even when the truth was not on his side. Mickey, having only heard about him, discontentedly called Rose's boyfriend. But he wasn't. Nor was he a friend. It was something more sublime that the girl herself couldn't describe in words. It was only necessary to remember that the Doctor is an alien, and he is more than nine hundred years old, everything faded. Any possible thought of any sympathy faded away. How could she, an ordinary saleswoman from London at the beginning of the twenty-first century, attract someone who had seen the past, future and present countless times? No wonder the Doctor has repeatedly referred to people as "stupid monkeys". How is she better than them?
Once she even dared to ask why he took her with him.
And he answered what Rose had never expected him to say. He told me about her bravery, intelligence, and dedication. And he added:
— You are a very unusual person, Rose Tyler.
It touched her much more than Jimmy's mawkish speeches had once done. It was clearly noticeable that he had done such a "trick" more than once. The Doctor spoke from the heart. He couldn't lie. Even when he tried, somewhere in the depths of his soul there was sadness, regret for what he was doing.
But when the regeneration happened... Rose couldn't be sure that everything was the same.
He became handsome and young, vaguely reminding Rose of those former classmates who had only to look at some girl, and she already imagined a future together. No, of course she didn't want to doubt the "new" him, but, one might say, for the first time she was really jealous.
One day, Cassandra, staying in her mind, found out that the girl thinks he's cute. But the more Rose thought about it, the more strange the thought seemed to her. Where did the promise to herself "not to cross the friendly line" go? Did she make that promise for this one?
However, she easily found an answer to that. Now the Doctor reminded many of the guys she had already fallen in love with: both in character and appearance. That's probably why she got used to him quickly. Hand on heart, Rose could admit to herself that in some familiar situation she would rather meet a new Doctor than his previous regeneration.
And it was a matter of ordinary appearance. She would hardly have dared to ever speak to a man who was practically her mother's age. If he were an ordinary person, it is unlikely that they would have common topics for conversation. An ordinary person… It would have been much easier that way. Not age, not different worlds wouldn’t be a hindrance.
The only question is…
Would the Doctor want that?..
This thought stuck firmly in her head, eclipsing the others, and only the pain in her bruised elbow, on which she involuntarily leaned, made her finally return to the real world. At first, the girl didn't even immediately remember where she was and why, but the unchanging deserted corridors refreshed her memory of recent events.
Or... not quite deserted?
The creaking of machinery. The ticking of the clock. Heavy footsteps. Approaching shadows.
And the girl couldn't even run away.
The sounds were getting closer. They seemed very close. Close to capturing her. Or dismantling her for parts for the ship.
And the Doctor wouldn't come.
…
Fast running. Heavy breathing. The whirring of a sonic screwdriver. Northern accents.
This went on for several minutes. Then there was a frightening silence. Rose finally raised her head, ready to accept her fate, but was met only by worried grey eyes.
"Where are you going?" he muttered in displeasure, thrusting the screwdriver into his jacket pocket. "Is life not nice at all?"
"No, why would you..." the girl replied with a laugh, smiling for the first time in all this time. "I just lost my guard, that's all."
"Stupid monkeys..." her savior muttered in his heart and, turning his back on her, was about to leave when suddenly something stopped him. "How did you get here?"
"With the help of the TARDIS," Rose answered honestly, without thinking.
Even though she knew that this answer would entail long questions, she still wouldn't have been able to lie. In fact, how would a human end up here?
It was hard to tell from his look what he was thinking, but it was worth guessing: he didn't believe that a human could have his own time machine.
On the other hand, how can she says that a Time Lord helped her, if at the time of their meeting the Doctor was convinced that he was the only survivor of the Time War. In this case, the Doctor will understand what's what, and most likely will guess that she is talking about his next regeneration. But won't this disrupt the time continuum? Rose remembered perfectly well what such changes were fraught with: it was her fault that the Reapers appeared and were close to destroying, if not the world, then all those who were in the church.
But, nevertheless, she wouldn’t have been able to deny it for a long time. Not only because the Doctor saw through people, but also because she didn't want to lie. He might not know her yet, but she just couldn't betray all the time she'd spent with him.
"That is, with the help of the Time Lord," Rose finally decided to clarify, carefully watching his reaction.
"What does he look like?" There was nothing in his tone to betray interest.
"Brown-haired, in a long raincoat and sneakers..." Rose paused, trying to detect the slightest signs of doubt in his gaze.
Nothing. She'd forgotten how well he hid his emotions.
The Doctor turned his back on her, studying the walls of the ship carefully. Almost like the first day they met… Only on a spaceship you can't break up so easily, and they will obviously be able to talk more than once. Maybe even now?
"But when we first met, he was wearing a leather jacket," he stopped, "constantly running away," he frozed, "and he was lonely…"
The Doctor turned around, and Rose involuntarily shuddered: the feeling of deja vu that gripped her was unexpected. The man had the same look when he talked about himself on the day they met. Expressing all that pain, loneliness, guilt for the defeat and destruction of all the Time Lords. It hurt her to look at him like that. She wanted to take his hand without saying anything and just smile. To show that he isn't alone. As he always did.
But for the first time, time wasn't on her side. The moment of their acquaintance has not yet come. She had no right to interfere... though, what was she talking about? The Doctor had already sent her to Earth once, but she didn't sit idly by, but returned and saved him! And this proves once again that not all rash actions have a bad outcome.
"I felt the presence of another TARDIS on the ship. I should have guessed that my future incarnation would be there. And my future companion is with him." He spoke, emphasizing the word "future".
Rose felt awkward and breathed a sigh of relief when he changed the subject.
"This place is quite dangerous, why are you alone now?"
The girl turned her gaze to the scene of the accident and nervously bit her lip. During all that time of the short dialogue with him, she practically didn’t remember the ill-fated movement of the Doctor, and the old emotions flooded in with renewed vigor. They covered her in such a wave that Rose lowered her head, hugged herself, and sobbed loudly. Tears were gathering in the corners of her eyes, but she stubbornly squeezed her eyes shut, trying not to completely break down.
The Doctor had mixed feelings. The realization that he (even from the future) could cause someone to cry put him in an awkward position. Something made him freeze in place, preventing him from calmly turning around and leaving. Something made him sympathize with a strange girl. Or is it because he intuitively feels that he wouldn't take a bad companion with him? The future he must have found interesting qualities in her. Bravery? Mind? Dexterity? And he can't even asks: breaking his own timeline is too much. But to leave it like that too!
The man didn’t understand how it happened. As soon as he thought about it, he discovered that... he took a stranger by the hand. The strangest thing was that the girl didn't pay any attention to it, as if this was how it should be. It's so weird… And an unusual feeling. How long has it been since he touched anyone… Why is he so worried about this? His hand squeezed hers slightly, and Rose flinched, her gaze shifting to him.
What is it? Why didn't he want to let her go? And did this happen to him from the future? A lot of questions were forming in his mind. But perhaps the most amazing thing was that she was calming down. The crying became quieter and the breathing calmer.
"Thanks." She gasped and seemed about to pull her hand away, but didn’t dare.
"For what?" The Doctor looked into her brown eyes, trying to understand what a hurricane of feelings was raging in her soul.
To think that he was interested in a human girl.
"For being here for me," she replied with a chuckle, after which a wide smile appeared on her face.
The man involuntarily noticed an interesting feature: smiling, she bit the tip of her tongue. And for some reason it made his soul feel better.
"I'm sorry for interfering with your timeline. I don't want to create paradoxes, so we'd better go our separate ways."
"I think meeting you will be the highlight of my life," the Doctor said, smiling slightly. "I do not know what your Doctor has become, but he will definitely come back. He can not help but appreciate a fantastic companion like you."
"Goodbye, Doctor. See you soon," Rose whispered, slowly releasing his hand.
After taking another look at the girl, the man strode off in the direction where he had left the TARDIS. When he almost reached the police box, he heard a man's voice and laughter through tears. Opening the door slightly, the Doctor smiled with the corners of his lips and went inside.

On your AO3 you wrote The pieces I'm proudest of are the Broken Wheel series (Once Upon a Time) and Madness for Two (Doctor Who).
What made those two series stand out above others for you if it's ok to ask?
It's completely okay to ask!
Those stories are the ones that turned out on the page looking something like the vision in my head. They were relatively quick and painless to write, probably because they're so contained compared to my long fanfics, but also because I threw away some of the self-imposed constraints that make writing harder (if ultimately more likely to be attractive to a wider audience). They're more self-indulgent and removed from canon than I normally go for as either writer or reader.
Broken Wheel explores a Dark Castle-based romance for Belle and Rumple without really digging into the pitfalls of their relationship. They desire each other and they go for it. As a canon-divergent AU it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but as a fairytale take on OUaT's twist on a fairytale, it's kinda fun. It's quirky because Belle and Rumple are both quirky characters capable of becoming lost in each other to the exclusion of everything else. They spend the story exploring what's possible on their terms and - to deploy a phrase I didn't yet know when I wrote those pieces - matching each other's freak. I think it was the first time I wrote Rumple's POV, which I don't find easy or comfortable compared to Belle, so I'm proud of how that turned out.

Madness for Two is similar in a way - short, contained, smutty with feels, showing POV's I usually avoid because I find them hard. Self-indulgent, quirky, prioritising the Doctor/Master 'ship and smut over the more complex realities of their canon relationship. I wrote it for the 50th anniversary of the Master's debut on DW so I wanted to avoid really diving into the morality of it all and just celebrate my love for the characters. As with Broken Wheel's Belle and Rumple, I wrote Thirteen and the Master (and the subplot with Twelve and Missy) in an obsessive, claustrophobic, and quirky collision of personalities. Nobody matches freaks like those two!
In this case I added a MacGuffin to stop 'em actively fighting for five minutes so the story could work, not so much to enable the smut (though it was nice to do that for the Master's birthday - they've been jonesing for some quality Doctor-time in my head since the 1980's!) but to force their POV's to deal with the antagonism and intensity of their bond in words. I wanted them to describe each other as intimates and, in doing so, throw a light on themselves.

I intended both Broken Wheel and Madness for Two to be character studies first, smut second, love story third. The DW piece throws in angst and hurt comfort too, because that's my fave playground. I played with tone and voice and imagery more than I usually would and - on the whole - was happy with the results. I enjoy reading these stories back, actually seeing the story instead of the flaws in my writing/things I'd do differently now I've learned that bit more.

Lastly, they're actually finished pieces and not WIPs that keep me awake at night listening to the unfulfilled character voices in my head! I've always hoped to add a third piece to make Broken Wheel a trilogy, but it doesn't need it if I never can. I've never quite found the right narrative voice for it, maybe because it wants to be told from Belle's POV while the first two are Rumple's. It's a cute enough story from her POV, but I'd like the set to match and haven't yet figured out how to do that.
Hey Nym--- in Antithesis is the Master aware of the kinky implications of the collar they put on him?
Yes, I think so. Aware, amused. It's not what outrages him, though - just a nuance he's aware of and not above using to his advantage to mess with the Doctor and Jack. Being restrained infuriates him, but he sees the emotional manipulation potential in their chosen method.

The Doctor either isn't aware of the human kink connotations of putting a collar on him, or isn't letting himself follow the train of thought (because Time Lord Dignity, etc etc, lalalala healthy denial). He's too busy being horrified that security measures are needed at all.
Jack... well, he knew exactly what he was doing in terms of payback, even as he found a way for it to be 100% rational and necessary for everyone's safety to shock-collar the Master. To be fair, his options for using the technology were limited once the Master broke his own hand to escape the handcuffs. It had to go where removal of the restraint would equal fatality.
(These men are not well.)
Thank you for the master anniversary fanfiction recs. I've read nearly everything you linked now. As you were around the fandom then do you know what happened to the author of the awesome 10/Simm one Lapidary?
You're very welcome! I had fun turning my bookmarks into something accessible for the Master's 50th anniversary/birthday! I keep having to move the website to a new Wordpress installation and losing the pretty images and site design I originally made. All the pairings and categories can still be filtered through the 'sitemap' page though. Must sort that at some point!
Lapidary is a breathtaking piece. I was a latecomer to it, actually - fanwriter Extryn told me about it!
I know Savaial was last sighted writing epic Supernatural fanfic, because I have it bookmarked to read. I know they had some draining real life/family stuff going on, and that one of their Supernatural works got plagiarised on another site by some total and utter selfish gobshite, causing Savaial to stop posting on AO3 before completing their most recent story there. Awful.
Chapter 2: The “Lost City” of Atlantis

While roaming through time and space, Esther was sitting comfortably by the steps of the main control room of the T.A.R.D.I.S reading a book, while the Doctor worked on the buttons and levers, leading the duo to their next adventure. Their last one nearly got the two of them killed by a robotic lion in the Ancient Roman Empire, ruled by a malicious emperor with a hunger for power and creating a "new age" of gladiators. "The next time we chose a planet or time period to explore, please don't let there be killer robots, Doctor" said Esther, her eyes glued to her book, "I've had enough of those since West Sussex" "Can't keep that promise, I'm afraid" said The Doctor, "But I am taking you somewhere beyond belief" "You say that last time" "Oh but this time, I mean it" The Doctor placed the switches on, sending the T.A.R.D.I.S flying through space and time, the control room shaking violently as Esther dropped her book and held onto the handle bars to prevent herself from falling. A few minutes later, the T.A.R.D.I.S comes to a stop and moves softly as if it was floating on the surface of water. "We're here!" said the Doctor, walking toward the screen hovering over the control panel, "Oh ain't she a beauty?" Esther stood up and walked over to the Doctor, looking over his shoulder to read the coordinates, "What exactly am I looking at, Doctor?" she asks, a bit concerned. The time lord smiled and grabs onto the girl's hand, dragging her to the door, opening it to reveal their location "Welcome to the Lost City of Atlantis!" he shouts with excitement, "Well technically not lost, just invisible to humans since they're not much of a fan of outsiders'' Esther tilted her head in confusion, all she could see was nothing but the water's surface and what appeared to be a giant bubble hovering over it. "I don't see anything" she said, "Are you sure the T.A.R.D.I.S landed in the right spot?" The Doctor turned his head towards Esther, standing beside her with confusion written on his face, "Of course the T.A.R.D.I.S took us to the right stop, I'm sure of it" he said, pulling out his sonic screwdriver to point at the direction of the city. It was then he realized he forgot one important thing, "Oh that's right, how could I forget?" The Doctor then repositions Esther to a different spot, gently grabs her chin with his index and thumb, slowly turning it to the right and there it was. The "Lost City" of Atlantis appeared right before Esther's eyes in the very distance. The buildings were tall and beautifully displayed, the palace stood in the very center of it with smaller buildings surrounding it and possibly flying cars along with narwhals as a means of transportation. "This is amazing!" she said with a smile, walking towards the city until the Doctor stopped her, grabbing the girl by her waist so she wouldn't fall off the edge. "Watch where you're going, for heaven's sake" said the Doctor, gently pulling her way from the edge. "How are we gonna get to the city then?" asked Esther, "There's no way we can swim across, maybe there's a boat or ship to get us there" "No boats or ships" the Doctor explained, rummaging through his coat pockets until he pulled out a ball of what appeared to be sea kelp. "Eat this" he said, handing the girl the dripping plant. Esther looked at the kelp in disgust, holding it between her index and thumb, "What is this?" she asked, trying her best not to vomit at the horrid smell. "This is a special kelp that allows you to breath underwater" the Doctor explained, "Think of it as if you're eating sushi, without the fish, or the rice, or the soy sauce" "What about you?" "Don't need it. I'm a timelord, remember? This is nothing for me" The Doctor stuffed his hands into his pockets before leaping off the edge with a call, "ALLONS-Y!!!" followed by a splash. Esther watched as the timelord made a jump for the water down below before her eyes turned back to the kelp in her hand. She hesitates before shoving it into her mouth, forcing herself to chew on it a bit before swallowing it down without vomiting. The taste of salt hit her taste buds hard, even when it swam down her throat, nearly choking. Once the girl is calm, Esther walks towards the edge and steps off yelling "Look out below!" until her feet hit the water.
This water was not like the ocean, that was for sure. The moment Esther entered the water, it felt as if she was being dragged to the bottom of the sea with an anchor tied to her ankle for good measure. Bubbles surrounded her body and blocked her vision on the way down, she could hear the Doctor just a few feet below saying "What took you so long?" through the bubbles. While the time lord landed gracefully on his feet, Esther landed harshly on her bum, feeling the sand cloud up around her. The moment the girl starts to float, she panicked while the Doctor remained unfazed, "Just relax, love" he said, holding the girl's hand for support, "Once you plant your feet to the sand, you should be fine" As instructed, Esther takes a deep breath, her body starts to relax and weighs her down to the ground, her feet making a soft stomp onto the sand beneath her. "There you go" said the Doctor, adjusting his jacket, "Come along then, we mustn't keep her majesty waiting" "Her majesty?" asked Esther through the bubbles, "Atlantis has a Queen?" "Of course Atlantis has a Queen, otherwise Atlantis wouldn't be in hiding" With that, the Doctor began to stroll down the bottom of the "sea" while Esther took baby steps to not float again and get used to the sand beneath her feet.
The walk along the sand felt like taking Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon, but the Doctor tells Esther that it wasn’t necessarily true, for it was the Russians who landed on the moon first, then came the Americans. It was then, The Doctor came to a complete stop, causing the girl to bump into his back and step aside, “Why’d we stop?” she asked, covering her mouth after the bubbles suddenly emerged from it. The Doctor turns to the side and presented the girl “We’re here” he said Esther looked confused, to her it looked like the two had to walk further down into the sea. That was until she remembered the Doctor showing her the city from afar, meaning the entrance had the same effect. She raised her hand and cautiously reached out to a force field, her hand disappearing in the process. This shocked the poor girl, causing her to pull her hand back in one piece. She tries again, only this time walking all the way through, followed by the timelord. The girl looked down at her clothes, seeing she was perfectly dry from head to toe. “That’s technology in Atlantis for ya” said The Doctor, “Always 500 years ahead of its time” He makes his way towards the clear elevator with Esther following behind. She stood on his left while the Doctor pulled out what looked like a badge of some kind, “What’s that?” she asked “Psychic Paper” said the Doctor, “How else are we gonna be able to pass security?” “I thought we were gonna see the Queen” “We are, don’t worry. Just follow my lead alright?” The Doctor gives the girl a wink before the duo arrive at the main entrance. A line of people, or should I say creatures, waiting for their turn to enter the “Lost City”. The sight of them surprised the girl, of course she’s heard stories of creatures from other worlds, but this was something else. “Don’t stare” said The Doctor, “Come on, better get in line before it wraps around the bubble”
Thankfully, the duo made it in line before it got worse. Esther couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if they couldn’t get inside the city. “Doctor?” asked Esther, grabbing the timelord’s attention, “What happens if you don’t gain access to the city?” The Doctor paused for a moment, unsure how to answer the girl’s question, “Well… to put it short, if you cannot gain access to Atlantis, either one of two things might happen to ya” “What’s that?” “Now see here, sir!” a voice boomed, a shark-like humanoid being was trying to get past the guards with his passport in hand, “I’ve come all this way to see Her Majesty the Queen and I was given permission to enter by the Royal Adviser months ago!” The Shark-man pulls out a scroll and hands it to the head guard, reading it carefully and rips it in half, “This paper is fake” said the guard, “Get rid of him” Without hesitation, the royal guards point their spears at the Shark-man, stabbing him in the chest as the creature suddenly turned to a pile of seafoam. This scene shocked the poor girl, possibly even frighten her. “There’s that” said The Doctor, “Or if you play nice, they’ll just escort you out through the bubble” Esther swallowed the lump in her throat nervously, “Let’s hope that psychic paper works then” she said “Just follow my lead” It was their turn now, The Doctor walked up to the podium and smiled at the head guard. “State your names and purpose of visit, please” said the Guard, looking down at the booklet “Hi!” said the Doctor, “I am Dr. John Smith and this is my assistant nurse, Dr. Mary Mary Pumpernickel” Esther glared at the timelord, feeling offended by the ridiculous name until the head guard finally glanced at the two. He leans in, growing suspicious of the two, “Identification, please” he said with a low dark voice. “Certainly” said The Doctor, pulling out the psychic paper to show his ‘ID’ “And the nurse?” “Oh right, poor girl’s very forgetful. Sometimes she doesn’t keep track of time which is why she’s late for most of her appointments” The girl remained silent while the Doctor rambled, giving the guard a nearly believable smile. The head guard grew suspicious for a moment before giving a nod of approval, “proceed” he said.
The guards move aside for the Doctor and Esther to enter the gate, a bright light blinding the girl till the sight of the “Lost City” was shown. The buildings were just as tall as the girl imagined, seeing flying cars, whales, and narwhals in the sky. The artificial sun shining up above and Atlantians walking among the streets like humans would in the surface world. Most of the Atlanteans looked like the creature from the old American movie with green skin, big round black eyes, and puffy lips. Others looked almost human, besides the gills sitting on either sides of their neck and webbed fingers. They even dressed almost like royalty or high class citizens. “What do you think?” asked the Doctor, seeing the awe in his companion’s eyes, “Nothing like you’ve never seen before right?” “It’s amazing” said Esther “That never gets old” The Doctor walks ahead of the girl, walking through the city to see the sights and sounds of the citizens. There were markets, shops, boutiques, and many more. What caught Esther’s attention was an older man sitting in the corner of an alleyway, holding a pint asking for change. The citizens ignored the older Atlantean but Esther didn't, which the Doctor noticed. Instead of stopping her, he wanted to see what his companion would do from a good distance just in case anything fishy was going on, pun intended. Esther searched through her pockets and pulls out a few pounds for the older Atlantian to take, “Here” she said kindly, “I’m not sure what the currency in Atlantis is, but I hope this is worth something” The Atlantean was rather surprised, but yet he felt grateful for someone to offer him some money. His wrinkled webbed hand kindly took the money from the girl and gave her a kind smile, “Thank you, my dear” he said in a kind gentle voice, “I see you and your friend are not from around here” “Is that obvious?” asked Esther “I have seen many travelers in Atlantis, but none so interesting and different as you two” “Is it true that many people aren’t allowed inside the city unless you have permission from the Queen or the Royal Advisor?” “Indeed” said the Atlantean, “Although years ago, it wasn’t always like this”
The Doctor walked towards Esther’s side, listening to the old Atlantean on how the City went into hiding and why they had to do it. Eons ago, Atlantis was a city of peace and harmony where everyone knew its existence and created powerful alliances. That was until a war broke out between the land and sea, pollution was killing Atlanteans left and right through its water supply and air. Which was quite understandable until you get to the invisible bubble part. Some of the Atlanteans start protesting and demand for the city to return to its former glory, but all because the Royal Advisor thought it’d be best to keep the city in hiding until the Queen says the word. “Hold on, how do you know all this?” asked the Doctor, “You had to be come kind of member of the court or something to know all that” “And you’re right, good sir” said the Atlantean, “I was once a member of the Imperial Court, until the Advisor threw me out of the palace” “What for?” asked Esther “Disagreements” The two became silent as the old Atlantean stood up with the help of his cane which had a silver seashell in the handle of it with a gold piece at the bottom, “If you’re on your way to the palace, I wish you both good luck” “Thank you, Mr….” “Theogoth, but my friends call me Theo”
The old Alantean bid his farewell to the two before taking his leave in the opposite direction of the palace. Little did they know that someone was watching them from the shadows, a low growl escaped the stranger’s green lips in anger while the two left the scene. Once they reached the palace gates, the Doctor walked up to the guard while Esther stood in awe, seeing the gold and silver shine against the artificial light. It looked like something out of a fairy tale, maybe even beyond that. “Tori!” called the Doctor, “Come along! It looks better on the inside” “Nicer than the T.A.R.D.I.S?” teased Esther “Don’t diss the T.A.R.D.I.S! She just needs a little TLC” “If you say so, Doctor” The Doctor’s frown was sharp till they entered the palace. Upon entering the palace, the walls were painted with white and gold, paintings of former rulers of Atlantis were hung in gold frames, including the Gods they worshiped such as Neptune, Poseidon, Ceto, Hydros, and many more. The Doctor’s gaze fell straight to Esther’s, gently grabbing her arm before she could bump into a statue with a trident pointing straight at the girl, “Best to watch where you’re going, love” he said with a wink. Esther blushed a bit and stood close to the Doctor, making sure not to get distracted. The grand doors opened to reveal a beautiful throne room, once again dressed in gold and white, and there sat a woman in the center of the room. The Queen of Atlantis sat upon her golden throne, dripping in pearls and crystals from head to toe. Her siren eyes were as blue as the sea, her skin as white as sea foam, but underneath those siren eyes was the kindest smile you’d ever see. To say that she was beautiful would be an understatement. The Queen resembled a Goddess of the sea. The Doctor smiled and respectfully bows to the Queen, “Your majesty” he said, “Long time no see, you’re just as beautiful as I remembered” “I thank you, Doctor” said the Queen, her voice as sweet and sincere as a melody, “and I see you have brought a companion” Esther froze, blushing before bowing deeply in the presence of the Queen. The Doctor stood tall and looked down at the girl, shaking his head softly, “Don’t-Don’t do that” he said. The Queen stood from her throne, making her way down the small staircase and stopping just in front of the girl. Her elegant fingers cupped the girl’s chin, slowly raising her head to meet the Queen’s gaze, “Rise, my dear” she said kindly, “There’s no need to bow in such a way” Esther nods and raised herself up, her height matching the queen, “my apologies, you’re majesty” The Queen giggled sweetly in response, “There’s no need to apologize either” “You’re majesty!” a voice called, stepping into the throne room with a serious look. Judging by his gold and silver robes with a badge that resembled an atlantic fig snail, he was the advisor. His appearance was quite the opposite to the Queen, his skin was green as envy, his many eyes made it hard to make eye contact, his scaly hands hidden in the sleeves of his robe, and his frown made it show that he wasn’t in the best of moods. “You shouldn’t treat your guest with such kindness” said the advisor, “You are a solemn ruler, you must show that you have power” “And you are much too traditional, Thoric” said the Queen, “Learn to relax and think about starting a new age for the city” “It’s not as easy as you believe it is, your majesty” The Queen ignored Thoric and turned her attention back to the timelord and his companion, “What’s your name, my dear?” she asks with a smile “Esther” the girl answered, “Esther Lovegood” “Would you and the Doctor care to join me for a stroll?” “Why not?” said The Doctor with a goofy smile, “It’s been a while since my last visit. I wonder if this place still has my little gift shop” Esther raised a brow at the Doctor, “You had a gift shop?” she asks, “In the Queen’s Palace?” “Souvenir for tourist”
The gardens in Atlantis were breathtaking. The coral represented the flowers, the fountains had merpeople made of marble, and the seaweed was decorated nicely as bushes. The Queen and Esther were walking arm and arm while the Doctor watched from a good distance. It was nice to see his new companion enjoy herself and keep her mind off the trouble she’d been through. He paused and heard something from afar, seeing the Royal Advisor, Thoric talking to who seems to be his assistant. His eyes looked back on the Queen and Esther, quietly slipping away in order to hear the conversation, hiding within the seaweed to blend in with the scenery. “Master, perhaps it’s time to put this plan of yours aside” said the assistant “And waste 10,000 years of planning to take over the throne for a mere child? I think not” said Thoric, his eyes fuming with anger, “Do you have any idea how long I had to stand by and watch every ruler of Atlantis to make rational and pointless ideas.” “But what if you don’t succeed this time?” “Oh I will! But with that Doctor and his little daughter-” “Companion, sir” “Whatever, with those two in the way, it won’t be easy to get rid of that naive Queen Aquamarine. Thankfully, there’s a royal ball tonight which makes it the perfect opportunity to get that crown and make sure Atlantis would be supreme”
‘Of course’ thought the Doctor rolling his eyes in the process, ‘the typical second hand wanting nothing more than power and control. Haven’t seen one of those in a while’ “Doctor!” cried the Queen, holding Esther’s unconscious form in her arms. The Doctor quickly left the scene before the advisor would notice, rushing to the girl’s aid to check her pulse, pulling out his sonic screwdriver to scan the girl. Once he was done scanning, the tool showed that Esther was going through a rare condition called ‘Time sickness’ which only happens when people, often humans, stay in the T.A.R.D.I.S a tad too long. “She’ll wake up in her own time” said the Doctor, carefully picking Esther up in his arms, “Sorry we had to cut the walk a bit short” “It’s quite alright, Doctor” said Queen Aquamarine, “As long as your companion gets plenty of rest. I’ll see to it that my servants bring the both of you to a guest room” “I think it might be best if you’d come with us, just in case anything happens to ya without supervision” Queen Aquamarine hesitated for a moment before agreeing to the Doctor’s order. In the corner of the timelord’s eye, he could see Thoric sending him a sinister glare, meaning he knew the Doctor was listening to his conversation from earlier. But that wasn’t going to stop the Doctor from protecting the Queen of Atlantis and his companion.
Esther woke up with a start, but something was off. She wasn’t anywhere in Atlantis. This place seemed rather different. She stood up from the ground and scanned her surroundings. “Doctor!” she called, but no response, “Doctor, where are you?!” The room looked to be a library in an old Esthern house, the shelves stacked with books, the curtains moving softly from the gentle breeze of the night which showed a full moon. The girl walks over to close the curtain but her hand seems to go right through it, as if she were a ghost. The door slams open to reveal a group entering the room, a tall man in a Esthern suit, followed by an older woman who happened to be Queen Victoria, and two very familiar people. One of which was Rose Tyler, the other The Doctor who looked a touch younger. “Doctor?” asked Esther, seeing the timelord quickly gather as many items as he could to block the door, almost as if he was hiding from something, or someone. His ear was pressed to the walls, hearing the sound of what’s chasing them on the other side of it. Esther slowly walks up to the timelord, reaching her hand towards his shoulder, only for her hand to once again go right through it. “What is this?” asked Esther, looking down at her hand then back to the Doctor, “What’s going on? Am I dead?” “No, love” said a voice, “It’s all just a memory” The girl turns around to see another version of Rose Tyler, comparing her to the one watching the Doctor from the side along with the man and the Queen. “Rose?” asked Esther, earning a smile from the familiar blonde. Esther runs towards Rose with a tight hug, before pulling away “How are you here?” she asks “I’m not quite sure to be honest” said Rose, looking towards her younger self and the Doctor, just as surprised as the girl beside her. “Mind giving this memory a bit of context?” “The Doctor and I somehow ended up in Scotland. We met the Queen as you can see and we were being chased by a werewolf” Esther’s eyes widened and glanced at the scene, “Werewolves?” she asked, “They’re real?” “Well” said the Doctor in the memory, “you’d call it a ‘werewolf,’ but technically it’s more of a lupine-wavelength haemovariform” “A what?” asked Esther, “Doctor, when will you learn to speak proper English?” “That’s what I ask myself all the time,” said Rose. The Queen’s face showed distrust in the Doctor and shock, saying that she noticed how he changed his voice so quickly. Before the Doctor within the memory could explain himself, he noticed something on the walls and the doors of the library, mistletoe. The two girls watched the scene as the Doctor climbed up the door and licked the wall without hesitation. Esther watched in disgust and asked, “Did he just lick the wall?” “He does that often” said Rose “Viscum album, the oil in the mistletoe” said the Doctor, “It’s been worked into the wall like varnish. How clever was your dad? I love him!” The timelord explained that mistletoe was powerful stuff, bursting with lectins and viscotoxins. The past Rose asked if the wolf was allergic to the mistletoe, which the Doctor replies with a no, telling her that it thinks they’re allergic to it and the monks outside the manor had to control the creature somehow, possibly training it to react against certain things. The lord of the manner reminds the Doctor that they carried no weapons of any kind to stop the werewolf from attacking them. The Doctor grinned and looked at the lord, “Oh, your father got all the brains, didn’t he?” he asked “Being rude again” said young Rose “Good, I meant that one” If they wanted weapons, the group already had the greatest weapon of all, books. The Doctor pulls out his spectacles and gave a serious look at the group, “This room is the greatest arsenal we could have”
The last thing Esther saw within the memory was the group “arming” themselves with books before it came to an end. She wakes up in a soft and comfortable bed, her eyes flutter softly as a bright light shines above her. Once her vision was clear, she could see a beautiful chandelier decorated with pearls and seashells sitting about the bed. “Oh there you are, Sleeping Beauty” said The Doctor, sitting up from the chair beside the bed, “You gave Queen Aqua quite a fright back there” “Doctor?” asked Esther, sitting up on the bed and slowly poked the timelord just to be sure he was real. He looked rather puzzled before gently moving his companion’s hand aside and pulled out his sonic screwdriver. “Hold still for a moment” he said, pointing the tool at the girl and scanning her face, “Do you feel nauseous or anything?” “No” said Esther, “I’m fine” Once the Doctor was done scanning, he looked at the results, sighing in relief, “Well thank goodness you are, cause we’re attending a ball tonight” “A ball?” “Yes, the Queen’s servants even picked a dress for ya. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a few things to run” Esther carefully pulls herself out of bed as the Doctor leaves the room, “where are you going?” “Don’t worry” said the Doctor, “I’ll be back in time. Atlanteans know how to party” As the Doctor left the room, the servants arrived to help the girl get ready for the royal ball.
Atlanteans from far and wide gathered in the grand ballroom as majestic music filled the air, the guests dancing with grace and precision, including the servants. The Doctor stood beside Queen Aquamarine who was dressed in a beautiful royal navy blue gown, a sapphire headpiece displayed beautifully on the crown of her head, and jewels decorated on her lovely skin. The Time lord was wearing black suit accompanied with gold trimmings and a gold coral shaped bow tie. Not long after, a figure showed up on the top of the steps, her head was neatly tied in a beautiful high ponytail, decorated with pearls and shells, her dress in red and white with layers to represent the Thai Fighting Fish, and shoes made of the best quality of coral. It was Esther. A smile appeared on the Doctor’s face seeing his companion walk down the steps toward the main floor, walking towards the girl and offering his arm, “Took you long enough” he said. “The servants really wanted to find the best dress” said Esther, taking the Doctor’s arm and walks beside him, “And trust me Doctor, it was either this or a puffer fish dress” “You look lovely tho” The Doctor then noticed something very different about the girl, first she had short hair and now it’s long, “You wearing a wig?” he asks, earning a smack on the arm from Esther. “No” she responds, “It’s this serum the servants used to make my hair grow in the bath”
As the ball progressed, the Queen of Atlantis could be seen with the Doctor dancing a waltz while Esther was dancing with other Atlantean royals. On the opposite side of the ballroom stood Thoric, his webbed hands hidden behind his back, with a weapon in one. His many eyes looked up at the chandelier, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make his shot, slowly aiming the weapon up in the air, pulling the trigger with ease. The loud bang scared most of the guests as the chain from the chandelier snapped, falling towards the center where the Doctor and the Queen stood. Thankfully, the Doctor saved Aquamarine on time, but at a cost, his consciousness. “Doctor!” cried Esther, rushing to the timelord and the Queen who held his body close to her chest. The rest of the guest run in a panic, screams filled the room while Thoric and his assistant watched from the side, “Dammit'' growled the royal advisor, “Of course that man would protect her” “A-at least he’s dead, sir” said the assistant, “Perhaps we should make a run for it” “Well thankfully, there’s always plan B” “Wha-what’s plan B again, sir?” “Just follow” The advisor grabs his assistant by the collar to make a quick getaway, which Esther notices and attempts to follow. A hand was placed on the girl’s shoulder to stop her, causing her to turn her attention to Theo, “You tend to the Doctor, child” “What about the Queen?” asked Esther “I shall watch over her. It is my sworn duty to stay by her side” “Where shall we meet then?” asked Aquamarine, pulling out a blaster from her corset. This action surprised the girl for a moment before brushing it aside to think, “The Library” she said, “Greatest arsenal we have” “Perfect”
With that, the old Atlantean and the Queen make their way towards the direction of the advisor, while Esther carefully places the Doctor’s unconscious form to the ground. She hesitates for a moment before folding her hands together and placing them in the center of the timelord’s chest. A hand mysteriously appears, guiding her to the proper spot, “It’s here, love” said a feminine voice. It wasn’t Rose Tyler though, it was someone else. The girl looked up to see a different woman, much different than the last companion she encountered. “Who are you?” asked Esther, “What do you think you’re doing?” “I should be asking you the same thing” said the woman, “My name is Martha Jones and I’m trying to help you save the Doctor” “How’s this going to help?” “It’s where one of his hearts are” Esther looked at Martha as if she had two heads, “what?” she asked, “How could that be? There’s no way the Doctor has more than-” She paused, thinking back to when she first met the timelord in West Sussex. The moment she cried in his arms, she thought she could hear her heart beating. But it turns out, it wasn’t her own heart she heard, it was the Doctor’s. “Two hearts” said Esther, earning a smile from Martha. The girl leans into the Doctor’s chest, hearing his right heart working but not the left. Once again, Esther folds her hands together and places it on the left side of his chest, glancing at Martha once in a while to see if she was doing it correctly. “How do you know all this?” asked Esther, “Were you like a nurse or something?” “Yes I was,” said Martha, “I met the Doctor while I was a medical student stuck on the moon” “The actual moon?” “Yeah. It’s pretty crazy I know” “Try being chased by Cybermen” Martha giggled a bit before hovering her hand over Esther’s helping her apply pressure to the Doctor’s left heart and checking his pulse. This went on for at least 10 minutes, which made the girl worry even more. Her anger was getting the best of her and she couldn’t help but form her hands into one giant fist to pound the timelord in the chest, “WAKE THE HELL UP, YOU ABSOLUTE PIECE OF RUBBISH!!” With one punch to the chest, the Doctor gasped and sat up for air, followed by another punch to the back. “OW!!!!” he yelled but then felt his left heart working once more. The girl stops to see the Doctor alive and well, her shock expression quickly turns to anger once more, smacking the timelord in the face. “WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!” yelled the Doctor, holding his now red cheek “You scared me to death, Doctor!” yelled Esther, “Even if you were only protecting Queen Aqua, you could’ve died!” The Doctor paused, looking around the ballroom with concern until his eyes met Esther’s, holding her shoulders tight, looking down at her with a serious expression, “where’s the Queen?” he asked The girl hesitates before answering the question, “She-she told me to meet her at the Library” she said, “Theo’s with her, so at least she’s not alone” The Doctor’s face softened and formed into a dorky smile, “You are a genius!” he said, cupping the girl’s face for a quick kiss. Once he pulled away, Esther was disgusted and spat in the opposite direction, “Never do that to me again, Doctor!” she said, wiping her lips with the back of her hand. “Come on, love” said the Doctor, “Allons-y!”
The Doctor and his companion enter the library with ease, making sure that no one was following them. He pulls out his sonic screwdriver to scan the room to see if it was safe to stay, “good thing you chose the right place” he said, “No sign of Thoric or his friend” Esther stood by the door, keeping an eye out for the Queen and Theo, “any idea what we can use in here, Doc?” She asks, “There has to be something we could use besides books” The Doctor pulls out his spectacles, scanning the library to see anything out of the ordinary. His long slender fingers traced ever so slightly on the spins of the books, feeling its texture until he noticed something off. He paused, the books didn’t feel like leather, but wood. Leaning against the wood, the Doctor gives it a good sniff, followed by a lick. “Did he just lick the bloody bookshelf?” asked Martha “Yep” said Esther “Driftwood” said the Doctor, tasting his tongue on the roof of his mouth for a better description, “200,000 years old… possibly 300… now if I can just find the right book to open this” Esther glanced at Martha who was also examining the bookshelf from afar, noticing most of them looked the same except one. “Try that one” she said to the girl, pointing to a seafoam colored book with the golden trident on the spine. Esther nods and walks up to the timelord, reaching her hand out towards the book Martha mentioned, pulling it downward to reveal a secret passageway, a staircase leading down to who knows where. The Doctor was rather surprised by how his companion figured it out so quickly, adjusting his coat, raising a brow suspiciously, “How’d you know which book was the switch?” he asked Esther hesitates for a moment before answering, “Well, there’s tritons all around the palace so it had to be the one with the triton on the spine” She points to the book with the golden triton on the spine. The Doctor glanced at the symbol in silence before he shrugged, thinking nothing of it before heading down the staircase with Esther following behind.
“So the Doctor can’t see or hear me?” asked Martha, walking right beside Esther while the Doctor was just a couple steps ahead “Seems like it” said Esther, “Do you even know how you got here?” Martha paused, how did she get here? Nothing came to mind, not even the last thing she remembered. It was rather odd. “I’m not sure to be honest with you” she answered, “I can’t even remember the last place I was at” “Esther!” called the Doctor, glancing at the girl as if she had two heads, “who are you talking to?” Esther hesitates before answering, “nobody” The timelord remained silent, he knew something was up with his companion. Probably one of the side effects of time sickness, so he thought nothing of it. He was then greeted with a blaster to the face, causing him and Esther to put their hands up in defense. Thankfully, it was Queen Aquamarine who was armed with the blaster, “Thank goodness you’re alive, Doctor” she said, lowering the weapon and allowing the two to enter. The room reminded Esther of the Batcave from the comic book Batman, with weapons lined up on the walls, a giant monitor showing the rooms of the palace and the city streets. “Well,” said the Doctor, “I did say that the library was the best arsenal of them all once” But what really caught their attention was Theo holding Thoric’s assistant hostage. “Just so you know, I have a lawyer!” said the assistant, “I will sue you for kidnapping!” “Hello Nemo” said the Doctor, “Looks like the Queen and Theo found ya. Listen, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. Which one would you prefer?” “I prefer if you’d let me and my master go in peace! He should have the right to become King of Atlantis- EEP!” The assistant’s eyes were met with the tip of a silver spear, held by Esther, “Hard way it is then” she said with a deadly glare. “Hold on a minute” said the Doctor, gently lowering the weapon from Esther’s hand, “Do you even know how to use that thing?” “If you remember what happened back at the entrance, it turns people into sea foam” “Well can’t let that happen” The time lord pulls out his sonic screwdriver, scanning the spear and resetting the weapon, “there” he said, “now he won’t turn into foam, but a tadpole if he doesn’t talk” The assistant swallowed the lump in his throat as his hand slowly pointed to the monitors. The Queen’s eyes glanced at the screens, one of them showing Throic making a run for it towards the city, weapon in one hand and a scroll in the other. “How did he get his hands on my father’s seal?” Asked the Queen “I may have stolen the code to your father’s safe” said the assistant, the tip of the spear landing closer to his neck, “He’sgoingtoescapethecitywithyourfather’ssealinordertotakeawayyourtitleasking!” “There’s no way we can catch up to him by foot!” said Esther, “Thoric would be gone by the time we reached the gate” “Who said anything about running?” asked the Doctor, a smirk creeping up on his face.
Just outside the city, Thoric could be seen running towards the gates with his weapon in hand. Anger boiling in his bloodstream the more he thought of the Queen almost capturing him. “Might as well take that idiot’s advice and skedaddle out of here” he said to himself before the royal guards pointed their spears at the traitor. He stops and points his blaster, “Stand down!” he commanded, “I am your King! I HAVE THE RIGHT TO RULE OVER THIS GOD FORSAKEN CITY NOT A BRAINLESS BRAT!” The royal advisor was about to turn when he hit face first into what appeared to be a rather large seahorse. The one riding it was none other than the Doctor with the Queen sitting behind him while Esther and Theo were riding another. The Queen and the Doctor’s eyes met with a rather shocked and frightened Thoric, “Going somewhere, Sir Thoric?” asked the Queen, her innocent voice turned dark and intimidating as her sharp siren eyes. Thoric glared and pointed his weapon at the Queen, only for his throat to meet with a pair of sharp blades, courtesy of the royal guards. “You don’t deserve to be the ruler of this palace” he growled, “and to think I let a child take my place in line for the throne after-” “Killing my father in his sleep?” The city fell silent, overhearing the conversation between her royal highness and the royal advisor. “Arrest this traitor” she ordered, “You don’t deserve to be a royal advisor” Without hesitation, the guards grab Thoric and snatched the weapon along with the seal, handing them both to the Queen. Before she could give another order, she paused and smiled at the timelord, “care to do the honors, Doctor?” The Doctor smiled with glee and proudly said, “Take him away, boys” before glancing at his companion, “Always wanted to say that” Esther smiled and rolled her eyes as the guards took the former advisor back to the palace and the city cheered with glee. "Oh!" she said, pulling out a sealed fishbowl which had a tadpole swimming inside it, "don't forget your friend" She tossed the bowl to Thoric who caught it with ease and glared at his former assistant "You are a fool" he growled.
On a distant planet far from Earth, Martha Jones and Rose Tyler appeared to be in a deep sleep. Their eyes shut and their bodies remain frozen in time inside what appeared to be a sleeping pod. A robot was scanning the waves through telekinesis and reports in a robotic voice, “Our sources indicate that Rose Tyler and Martha Jones had connection with the target” “And the location?” asked a young male voice, hiding in the shadows “The location cannot be detected” said the robot, “It is as if they were done on purpose” “It will take time” said an older voice, judging by his uniform, he was a general, “The Doctor will show his face here with what we need” The young soldier salutes to the general in greeting while the other nods. He walks up to the sleeping pods and glared at Rose Tyler, “We must find the target to get rid of the Doctor for good” he said with a sneer, “She is the key to finding his weakness and possibly his true name”

Plot: What if Amy Pond gave birth to twins? Of course River Song/Melody Pond would still be in the picture, but what about her twin sister Cornelia Pond? This story isn’t particularly about her, it’s of her daughter Esther Lovegood. It all started on an ordinary day in West Sussex, England when the Cybermen decided to come down for a little “visit.” If being invaded by an army of robots wasn’t enough, then perhaps a mad man with a blue phone box who calls himself “The Doctor” would surely be the cherry on top.

Chapter 5 - Daleks: Friend or Foe?

It was an ordinary evening in modern day London. People coming home from work, having dinner with their families, or even watching the news on the telly. Some children rather play outside and enjoy each other’s company until their mothers or fathers call them inside for dinner. A little boy named Jacob was busy playing football with his baby sister Emma. The two siblings were only 3 years apart, Jacob being seven years old, while Emma was five. Just by the looks of it, the siblings were really close. The evening went on with Emma kicking the ball towards the net while her brother was standing as the goalie. He cheered when his baby sister hit the goal and tossed her in the air to congratulate on her skills. But then something strange appeared out of nowhere. A large shadow peered over the children, causing the little girl to grasp onto her older brother with her small hands in fear. Jacob puts on a brave face as he quickly makes his way to the front door to keep Emma safe. The little girl was able to enter the house, but judging by the sound of the little boy’s scream, he didn’t make it.
The sound of the T.A.R.D.I.S. could be heard from miles away as it arrives in modern day London, England. The Doctor was the first to step out and observe the area to make sure this was the proper London, unlike the last one. He smiled in satisfaction before peeking into the blue box, “This is proper London!” he called “Are you sure, Doctor?” asked Esther, “Cause we’ve been through this before and you know how that turned out!” “Just come out and see for yourself!” And that’s what Esther did. The young companion steps out of the said box and looks around the city. A smile appeared on her face and glanced at the Doctor, “Yep, this is it” she said “Told you so” said the Doctor, stuffing his hands in his pockets with a smile. As he rambles about their last few adventures, Esther notices someone standing in an alleyway. The stranger looked much like a woman; dressed from head to toe in a dark shade of purple. Her hair was tied up in a neat yet messy high ponytail accompanied by a black umbrella which acts as a cane. She could be mistaken for Mary Poppins if she wasn’t so neat and tidy as the film from 1964. Her smile however wasn’t so friendly. It reminded Esther of a Cheshire cat looking down at Alice as she wandered around through Wonderland in search of the White Rabbit. “Whatcha lookin at?” asked the Doctor, catching Esther’s attention before turning back to the alleyway, seeing the mysterious woman had suddenly disappeared. ‘Where’d she go?’ thought Esther before her phone started to ring. After all that time she spent with the Time lord, Esther forgot she had a cellphone with her the whole time. She didn’t bother seeing the caller-ID as she answered the phone in a hurry. “Esther!” a voice called on the other line, “Where have you been, love? Eric and I were so worried about you after what happened at home” “Charlie” said Esther, surprised that one of her two best friends called, “I was traveling with-wait, how long ago were the Cybermen attacks?” “Four days ago” Esther glanced at the doctor who gave her a silent wink to show that time works differently in the T.A.R.D.I.S. “Anyway, why don’t we meet for lunch?” asked Charlie through the phone, “I wanna know where you’ve been all this time. If you happen to have a friend, bring them over. Eric and I would love to meet them” “Uhh… sure” said Esther, “I’ll meet you at the café near your flat. See ya soon” Once the girl hung up, she glanced at the time lord, “You wouldn’t mind joining me and my friends would you?” she asked, “Unless you have something better to do while we’re still here?” The Doctor glanced at his companion and shrugged, “Not really” he says, “Been a while since I’ve been to a café” The girl smiled and walks ahead of the time lord who gladly followed the girl behind, hands in the pockets of his suit, and a smile on his face.
A young female around the age of 18 or 19 sat outside near a coffee shop. Her name was Charlotte Dike, or Charlie as her close friends call her, one being Esther Lovegood. Her raven pixie cut slightly grown out a bit, paired with a pair of goggles you would see on a steampunk costume. Her hands are covered with fingerless black gloves to match with leather jacket and dark skinny jeans. While the male sitting across from Charlie, his name was Eric Heart. He was tall with dark hair and slight curls in the end, broad shoulders, and a pair of round spectacles to frame his surprisingly handsome features. But despite his looks, he was rather nerdy and quite awkward at times. At least, he was rather lovely company. Eric was reading the Metro newspaper in his hand when a presence appeared and covered the male’s eyes with their hands. “Guess who~” the voice spoke. Eric sighed and lowered his newspaper, thinking it was one of Charlie’s pranks and spoke, “Charlie, stop imitating Esther. I just had enough of your pranks when it comes to-” He paused when he turned to face Ether instead of Charlie. He blushed beneath his spectacles and muttered, “E-Esther! You’re back” “Yep” said Esther, “I’m alive and well” Charlie tackled her best friend into a tight hug. Thankfully, the two didn’t fall as they hugged one another. The Doctor stood aside so the three friends could keep up with one another before Charlie noticed him. “Who is that?” she asked Eric turned his direction towards the time lord then back at the girls, “Is he a new friend of yours?” he asked, “Or perhaps a professor?” “Well…” said Esther, “This is the Doctor, he’s uhh” “You mean, THE Doctor?” asked Eric, walking toward the time lord, nearly tripping over his own feet before shaking hands with the said Doctor. “It’s an honor to finally meet you, Doctor. I’m a huge fan of your work!” The Doctor looked rather surprised but smiled and shook the male’s hand in return. “Thank you, I’m very flattered” “Not gonna lie tho, I like a D.I.L.F. every now and then” said Charlie, eying the Doctor up and down. “A what?” asked the Doctor, “D.I.L.F.? What is that?” “A dad I like to-” “Okay! Enough of that” said Esther, “why don’t we head on over to the café and catch up?” The two friends finally agree and head off to the café with the Doctor once again following behind. He couldn’t remember the last time he saw his companions reuniting with friends and/or family after traveling through time and space for a good while. The figure from earlier observed the group within the shadows, mostly Esther, thinking of a proper way to meet the girl without anyone else around. Especially the Doctor.
On their way to the café, Esther stopped and noticed an old man reading a newspaper article on missing children in London. She walked over to the man and kindly asked if she could borrow it for a quick moment. The old man was a bit confused but gave it to the girl anyway. The Doctor walks over to his companion and glances over her shoulder. “Since when have children gone missing in the span of three days?” asked Esther, “I know I was gone for a while, but this is ridiculous” “That’s London for ya” said Eric, “I think this might be the job for the Doctor and his new companion~” “Or we can leave this to the police and Torchwood?” said Charlie, “I’m sure they’ll find the kids in no time” “No, this one’s different” said the Doctor, pulling out his spectacles to read the article for a moment before handing it back to the old man, “I don’t suppose it wouldn’t hurt to investigate the matter. Just hope U.N.I.T. doesn’t get involved in this mess” Before Esther could question about the said organization, a hand stopped her. A rather small hand, one the size of a child. She looked down to see a small, scared child with red puffy eyes from all the crying she must’ve endured. “Hello, sweetheart” said Esther, kneeling down to the child’s height, “What’s the matter? Did you get separated from your parents?” The child didn’t respond to the girl’s question until Charlie came up to grab her friend. “Come on, Esther, the Doctor’s waiting for ya” she said before noticing the child in front of them. “Please, help me” said the little girl, “My big brother was taken by bad aliens” “Bad aliens?” asked Charlie, gently picking up the child “You poor thing. Come on, kiddo. We know someone who can help you out” The child holds onto Charlie as they head off to the café and meet the boys. Esther follows before what felt like a painful headache appeared. Voices ringing in the back of her mind from a robotic voice yelling ‘Exterminate’ to ‘The Doctor will open the arc!’ “Esther!” a voice called Esther groaned and shook her head a bit before seeing Charlie a few feet away, “You okay?” “Yeah, I’m fine” said Esther, “I’m coming”
“I see” said the Doctor, “You and your brother were playing outside when suddenly an alien suddenly swept off his feet and disappeared?” The little girl nods, sitting happily on Charlie’s lap while doodling on a piece of paper. Her eyes focused on the drawing which Eric couldn’t help but look over her shoulder to see what the child was drawing. “Interesting” he said, adjusting his glasses, “That drawing looks an awful lot like an old enemy of the Doctor’s” “Who?” asked Esther, “Or in the Doctor’s case, what is it?” The little girl finishes the drawing and shows it to the short haired female. Charlie takes a look and raises a brow, “You sure that’s what you saw, kiddo?” she asked “It is, I saw it” said the child, “This is the bad alien that took my big brother” The Doctor kindly takes the drawing and looks at it carefully. It was an old enemy the Doctor has faced countless times. The one species that always manages to survive even through the Time War. Daleks.
“Daleks?!” asked Esther, “You mean actual Daleks! The ones that caused Doomsday back in 2006 along with the Cybermen?” “Yes, those Daleks” said the Doctor, pacing around the control panel in the T.A.R.D.I.S. to figure out the exact coordinates for where the Daleks might be hiding, “But the real question is, what do Daleks want with children? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them interact with a child in all my years of time travel” As the Doctor continued to ramble, Esther thought of an old memory in the back of her mind. One night when she was little, the sound of thunder echoed through her bedroom and a shot of lightning shocked the poor girl, causing her to hide underneath her blanket from fear. Her mother slowly entered the room with a small item in her hand, “Esther?” she spoke softly, “Are you alright, love?” “I’m scared, mum” said little Esther, “I don’t like thunderstorms” “Thankfully, I have something for you to scare the thunderstorms away” The older woman shows the young girl a small toy that resembles a Dalek. Although smaller in size, it felt quite intimidating to the eye. “This is a miniature Dalek” she said, “This little one will protect you from any danger and provide very useful information” “Even about the stars?” asked little Esther “The stars, history, anything your wondrous little mind~”
The teen glanced at the timelord, “Doc,” she said, “I think I have something that might help” She quickly makes her way down the halls of the T.A.R.D.I.S., returning a few minutes later with something behind her back. Her face looked hesitant at the Doctor before speaking, “Just” she paused, “Don’t freak out when I show you what it is” The Doctor paused, looking down at his companion suspiciously until he was presented with a miniature sized Dalek. His eyes widened in shock as well as confusion. How could a Dalek be so small in size? What if it’s dangerous? Or perhaps some kind of trap the Doctor wasn’t aware of. He quickly swiped the red object and examined it. “How long have you had this?” he asked, observing it with his eyes as well as the sonic “As long as I can remember” said Esther, “My mum gave it to me when I was little. I used have a fear of thunderstorms and this was the best way to keep me distracted from the sound and the lightning” “How did she find this?” “She built it actually” The Doctor raised a brow and turned his attention back to his companion, “Your mother built it?” he asked, “I don’t believe you” “Of course, you’re freaking out. With Daleks roaming around the city, you can’t even tell if this is a real Dalek or not!” The Miniature Dalek suddenly activates in the Doctor’s grasp, “Unhand me!” it spoke in a robotic tone. The Doctor nearly drops the said device but luckily, Esther was able to catch it before it was met with the ground. “That was close” she said, “You okay?” “You’re asking a Dalek if they’re okay?” asked The Doctor with disbelief in his voice “Identify yourself” said the Miniature Dalek “Esther” she responds, “Esther Lovegood” The Miniature Dalek scans the girl and speaks once again, “Sources indicate, you are Esther Lovegood. Please to make your acquaintance once more” “What is your purpose?” asked the Doctor “My purpose is to protect and serve my creator’s child. Provide knowledge of the universe” “Is that so?” The timelord properly placed the item down, giving it a proper scan to see what it was really made of. To his surprise, the Miniature Dalek was not a true Dalek. It was made of organic material for an AI. “Interesting” said the Doctor, “A Dalek that’s made of organic artificial intelligence” “So what you’re saying is, the mini Dalek isn’t a Dalek?” asked Esther “Oh, your mother was clever, Esther”
Outside the blue box, Eric and Charlie stood waiting for the timelord and their friend to return. One was pacing back and forth trying to figure out what was going on inside such a small box while the other entertained the little girl to keep their mind off the horrifying events she occurred the other night. Suddenly, a scream of terror came out of the child’s mouth as they ran towards Charlie for protection. The Doctor and Esther quickly step out of the T.A.R.D.I.S. to see what the commotion was about. “What happened?” asked the Doctor, glancing at the terrified little girl then on the other side of the road. There it was, a Dalek roaming through the streets of London kidnapping children in broad daylight. “Get in the T.A.R.D.I.S!” he called, gesturing for Eric and Charlie to enter the said box with the little girl in the tomboy’s arms. The two friends looked around in awe as the Doctor and Esther rushed to the control panel. “This is incredible!” said Eric, “I’ve always imagined the T.A.R.D.I.S. to be bigger on the inside, but never THIS big!” The male’s eyes glanced at the miniature Dalek sitting in the center of the controls, cautiously walking towards it to get a closer look at the device. “I didn’t know Daleks come in miniature size” “I beg your pardon?!” asked the Miniature Dalek, sounding rather offended, “I am not a Dalek!” “Would you two give it a rest” said Esther, “We got to find a safe place for the kid so we don’t-” The T.A.R.D.I.S. began to shake violently, nearly knocking everyone to the ground, including the Miniature Dalek, which Eric swiftly caught. “Doctor, what did you do?!” asked Esther “It’s not me!” The time lord replies, 'Something's interfering with the T.A.R.D.I.S.’ control system! Not the first time this happened, but if I can just figure out what’s causing it then I might be able to get us back on course!” “The Daleks have hacked into the control system!” said the Miniature Dalek, “Prepare for landing!” “Landing where?!” asked Charlie, holding onto the child for dear life, “Our possible deaths?!” “We are arriving on a Dalek ship!” “Everyone hold on to something!” cried the Doctor, pressing buttons and pulling levers while the rest held onto something so they wouldn’t fall.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. finally came to a stop and voices were heard from outside the said box. “The Doctor has arrived” said a robotic voice, “Inform the head Dalek at once” “And what of the child?” asked another robotic voice, “We have spent years searching” “Keep searching! The child shall be sent to the General!” The group stood quiet as they continued to listen. Once the coast was clear, the Doctor cautiously opened the door to see if any Daleks were roaming around. Thankfully, no one was around, at least for a while. Esther was the first to step out, her eyes glanced over at the window to see a beautiful view of the Earth from space itself. Eric followed along with Charlie and the kid. “Woah” said Charlie, “You get to do this with the Doctor?” “Pretty much” said Esther, “Mostly running and causing a bit of trouble from time to time, but it’s definitely worth it” “I can’t believe we’re on a ship in space” said Eric, “And with the Doctor himself of all people” The child in Charlie’s arms shook in fear as she watched the Earth for a moment before hiding her face in the tomboy’s shirt. “Guys, I’ll stay on the ship with the kid” said Charlie, “I’ll let you know if anything goes wrong” “Good idea” said the Doctor, tossing an old phone to the other, “Keep this on ya and be on the lookout for Daleks, I don’t want a single scratch on my T.A.R.D.I.S” “Yes sir” Esther and Eric follow the Doctor down the halls of the Dalek ship. “Exactly, how many times have you faced the Daleks, Doctor?” asked Esther, “Cause it seems like this isn’t the first” “Of course, it’s not the first time” said the Doctor, “Has anyone ever told you I’ve fought the Daleks for hundreds of years? Especially during the great Time War, nasty business if you ask me” Eric watched and listened in awe. His eyes sparkled as the time lord talked about his many encounters with the Daleks until he saw one in the corner of his eye, making its way down for inspection. The trio hid within a small room as a gold dalek inspected the halls, keeping as quiet as possible as to not get caught. A soft thud was heard beside Eric as he noticed Esther unconscious on the ground. He quickly knelt down to wake up his friend until the Doctor turned around. “He groaned silently and knelt down beside Eric, “Not right now” he whispered, “This is not the time for time sickness again” “Time sickness?” asked Eric, “You mean this happened to Esther before?” “Once when we arrived in Atlantis. It’s a rare case, but nothing dangerous if you must know” The time lord gently placed Esther’s body on the ground, his hands held her head gently as he closed his eyes to look into her mind, wondering what was going on inside his companion’s mind at this very moment, while Eric stood on lookout.
Esther’s eyes opened wide as her surroundings changed around her. It didn’t look anything like the Dalek ship she was in moments ago. An irritated sigh escaped her lips, realizing it was time sickness once again. She noticed a familiar logo plastered on the wall of a room, underneath it reads ‘Torchwood’ in bronze. “Place your hand upon the casket!” a Dalek called, grabbing the girl’s attention as she saw Rose Tyler and another male standing beside her. “Rose?” asked Esther, but then remembered it was all just a memory so no one could see or hear the girl. Rose Tyler paused and turns her attention to the Dalek, “If you… escaped the time war, don’t you want to know what happened?” she asked “Place your hand-” “What happened to the Emperor?” The Dalek paused, “The Emperor survived?!” “Till he met met” Esther stood in shock. How could THE Rose Tyler take down a Dalek with her own two hands? It was then Rose told the Dalek that she absorbed the time vortex and poured it into the Emperor’s head, turning him into dust with a dark look in her eyes. The Dalek stood silent in horror until its anger boiled into its system calling for extermination. “Oh, now, hold on, wait a minute” called the Doctor. This was the same one as the last one Esther saw from the library memory, only he appeared to be wearing a pair of 3D spectacles. It did look rather ridiculous in Esther’s opinion, but it probably served a purpose at the time. But something was different in a way. The Doctor came to a stop and turned his head toward Esther, surprising the girl until he placed a finger to his lips then pointed at the wall. The girl followed the time lord’s finger and noticed a message written on the said wall which read, ‘Wake up’ Esther felt rather confused, the message wasn’t there before. Was the Doctor trying to contact her? The moment her head turned, the memory changed from the Daleks to Rose and the Doctor standing in an empty room. “Once the breach collapses, that’s it!” said the Doctor, “You’ll never get to see her again. Your own mother!” “I made my choice a long time ago. And I’m never gonna leave you” said Rose, “So, what can I do to help?” The look in Rose’s eyes was like nothing Esther had ever seen before. The look in the blonde’s eyes was full of dispersion, want, and need. But most of all, love. Rose loved the Doctor and would do anything to stay with him. Even if she’d never see her family again. As the two start preparing to close the breach, Esther looked up at the ceiling, “Doctor!” she called, “What’s happening? I don’t know how to wake up from all this!” “You have to figure it out on your own” said the Doctor, using the memory to communicate with his current companion, “Trust me, Esther. This is one memory you don’t want to witness” “Why? What happened? Please, Doctor, tell me how do I properly wake up from this?!” The memory changed again, only by a bit, seeing the Doctor and Rose holding on for dear lives as Daleks and Cybermen flew towards the Void. A lever starts to move back, causing the computer to go offline. Esther watched as Rose attempted to grab onto the lever to pull it back in position. Although the Doctor tells Rose to leave it alone, she does it anyway. “Rose! Please stop!” cried Esther, “Listen to him! Listen to the Doctor, please!!” “Hold on!” cried the Doctor, reaching his hand for Rose to take. Unfortunately, Rose’s fingers slipped once she pulled the lever back in place, flying across the room towards the Void. The Doctor and Esther screamed in horror until a man appeared just in time to catch Rose and vanish without a trace as the breach closed behind them. Esther stood silently in horror, tears streaming down her face as she collapsed to the ground. “Please, wake up” she tells herself, “Esther, wake up!”
The girl wakes up with a gasp, breathing heavily with the Doctor’s arms. Her vision was a blur as the Doctor called to her softly and Eric quickly rushed to her side. Voices echoed through Esther’s mind as a familiar image appeared before her. She looked an awful lot like Rose Tyler. But yet, she wasn’t Rose Tyler. The blonde was dressed in rags, her hair wild like a beast, and her glowing eyes looked down at her as if it were it’s next meal. This was none-other than the Bad Wolf herself. A finger was pressed against Esther’s lips to keep her quiet as the Bad Wolf leaned closer, resting her forehead against the other. Everything felt silent as Esther slowly drifted off to sleep.
“We can’t just leave her, Doctor!” called Eric as he and the Doctor run through the halls of the ship, “The Daleks would kill her at any given moment” “Not yet!” said the Doctor, “Not as long as I’m still on this ship” He paused and turned toward the male, “That’s when you come in” “For what?” “The Doctor is here!” a Dalek calls, summoning a group of Daleks to surround the Doctor and Eric so they wouldn’t escape, “Prepare for extermination!” “Now hold on a minute” said the Doctor, “What is it with you kidnapping children all of a sudden? That doesn’t seem like your style. What are you really up to? Or better yet, WHO are you looking for?” “This is none of your concern” “Of course, it is! You don’t just go kidnapping children, not unless there’s a simple explanation to all this.” “Hang on a minute” said Eric, “Didn’t the Daleks say they’ve been searching for a child for years?” “Oh yes, Eric” the Doctor agreed, “How many years did the Daleks search for the child is the proper question. So, how many?” “18” The Doctor paused but laughed silently to himself, confusing the Daleks as well as the male beside him, “Doctor, what’s so funny?” asked Eric “Oh this is why I love time travel” said the Doctor, “The Daleks have never encountered a human child before. They don’t understand that children can grow. By now, the child they’re looking for is 18 years of age” “Explain! Explain!” cried the Dalek in confusion before another Dalek entered the scene. The Dalek that appeared before the group called, “The Child is here! Sources indicate, ESTHER LOVEGOOD is here!” The Doctor and Eric froze. The child the Daleks have been searching for was Esther all along? This only made Eric twice as worried about his friend as he and the time lord were lead to the General and hopefully Esther’s location.
The sound of children’s pleas echoed through the halls of the ship as the time lord entered the command center with the Dalek General sitting in the center of the room. On one side, a group of children coward before the presence of the Daleks entering the room, one child standing tall sending them a deadly glare. The other showed an unconscious female with her back facing the Daleks. “Esther!” called Eric as he reached for his friend. A Dalek sends an electric shock towards the male, “Stand back!” it commands “Let us go!” the boy demands, “You promised that if you find who you’re looking for, you can bring us home” “Silence, human child!” the Dalek General spoke, “Daleks do not keep promises. Nor do we take orders!” The moment Esther regains consciousness, the Daleks turn their attention to their target. “The child has awakened” said the Dalek General, “Prepare for extermination if they disobey!” “Leave her alone!” cried Eric, the Doctor holding him steady so he doesn’t do anything rash. Esther’s back faced the Daleks as she held her hands up, slowly standing up on her own two feet. “You know something?” she asks, “This all seems quite familiar. You capture the Doctor, plotting to destroy an entire planet, and the Emperor turns to dust in the end. Most of you will recall the Great Time War, but do you remember Doomsday?” “You know of Doomsday?” asked the Dalek General “The war between Cyberman and Dalek? Of course, I know because I was there” “Doctor, what’s going on?” asked Eric, “This isn’t something Esther would do” “Because that’s not Esther” said the Doctor “It’s funny how two little words could bring such fear to your kind as well as the universe itself” said Esther, “Of course, they go by two names. One of them being Rose Tyler” The girl paused, turning around to reveal her glowing eyes staring right at the Dalek General with a devilish grin on her face, “Or perhaps the Big Bad Wolf?~”
The Doctor froze while Eric watched with confusion. The children coward before the Bad Wolf as the Daleks turn their full attention to the girl standing before them with a grin on her face. “You will be EXTERMINATED!!” called the Dalek General, “EXTERMINATE!!” With the snap of her fingers, the Dalek General suddenly vanished into thin air, leaving the Daleks speechless, including the Doctor and Eric. “Esther, please stop!” called Eric “She can’t hear you” said the Doctor, “Her mind is being controlled by the Bad Wolf. In other words, Esther’s asleep and still going through Time Sickness” The Bad Wolf turned toward the children, using her power to make the children disappear in a blink of an eye. “What have you done?!” called the Doctor, “Where are the kids?!” “I’ve sent them back to their families” said the Bad Wolf, “Every child on this ship is safe. She wanted to save them. She wanted to save you, Doctor. Doesn’t that sound familiar?” The Doctor stood silently, the memories of Rose Tyler saving his and Jack Harkness’ life using the power of the Bad Wolf came to his mind. His eyes stared blankly as he calmly spoke, “Let her go, now” “No” said the Bad Wolf “You don’t have control over her. She’s not worth taking over, use me” “You’ve had your chance, Doctor. This girl is a better vessel than Rose Tyler. Which also makes me wonder” The Bad Wolf looked down at her hands, examining every part of it from her nails, the length of her fingers, to the palm of her hand, “I think this girl isn’t what she think she is” “Enough talking!” a Dalek spoke, “You will be Exterminated!” “Oh, I’m not done” The Bad Wolf uses her power to stop the Daleks from attacking, leaving her, Eric, and the Doctor to move in their own free will. “Please, stop” said Eric, “You don’t have to do this, Esther wouldn’t want this to happen. I know she wouldn’t” The Bad Wolf steps toward Eric, her glowing eyes filled with curiosity as she stands face to face with the male. She tilts her head as if she was trying to read him. Then she got it. A smile appeared on her face, “You love her, don’t you?” she asked, “You would do anything to keep her out of harm's way. How brave of you” Eric glared down at the girl and nods softly, “More than anything in the universe” he said, “If you refuse the Doctor’s offer than make me a vessel instead” “Don’t be stupid” said the Doctor, “If the Bad Wolf takes over your body, you might die” “I’m willing to do it, Doctor. I’d do anything to keep Esther safe, I promised her when we were kids. But if something does happen to me, just tell her…” Eric paused and sighed shaking his head, “She’ll probably know” The Doctor stood in silence and watched the scene unfold between the boy and the possible end of the universe. “Will Esther remember any of this?” asked Eric “No” the Bad Wolf replies, “She’ll think this is nothing but a dream, even if she’s suffering through time sickness while I’m in her body” Eric takes a breath, “Then I may have this one chance to do this” he said, tossing away his glasses before pulling the Bad Wolf in for a kiss to her lips. A minute later, a bright tight appeared from Esther's body to Eric’s, causing the girl to collapse in his arms.
The Doctor made his way towards Esther, carefully holding her in his arms before looking up at Eric, “You better keep him alive” he said, “If Eric dies, Esther would never forgive me” “She already forgives you” said the Bad Wolf, “Now go, you don’t have much time before the Daleks awaken from their nap” Esther’s groan caught the attention of the time lord, her eyes fluttering open as she looked up at him, “Doctor?” she asked, “What happened? Where are the kids?” “They’re fine” said the Doctor, “but right now, we need to run” “What about Eric?” “He’ll be fine, I promise. Now go!” Without hesitation, the Doctor grab’s his companion’s hand, running as fast as their legs could carry the two. A white Dalek appeared coming towards the two, calling out the words, “Exterminate!” “This way!” the Doctor ordered, turning the other way in order to find the blue box. Charlie stood outside the T.A.R.D.I.S. pacing around it with panic, her face filled with stress and worry since the little girl suddenly disappeared from her arms. It wasn’t until she heard the sound of footsteps that the tomboy saw her best friend and the time lord running for their lives from the Dalek. “Exterminate!” the Dalek called, firing toward the two. “Get back to the T.A.R.D.I.S.!” the Doctor called, opening its doors to get the girls and himself inside. “Wait, where’s Eric?!” asked Charlie “Little busy right now” said the Doctor “We can’t just leave him!” said Esther, “I have to go back and get him!” Before Esther could open the door, the blue box starts to shake from the Dalek’s attacks on the defense systems. “Sources indicate, we are under attack!” said the Miniature Dalek “Thanks, Captain Obvious!” said Esther, “What about Eric? Is he safe?!” “The Bad Wolf is here” Esther paused and glanced at the Miniature Dalek, “what did you say?” she asked “The Bad Wolf is here!” Charlie glanced at Esther and the Doctor, “Who’s the Bad Wolf?” Before the Doctor could answer, the sound of a Dalek’s scream echoed outside the blue box. He opens the door to see the Dalek that was chasing them was gone and Eric, or rather the Bad Wolf, stood with a displeased determined look in his glowing eyes. “Eric?” asked Esther, “Is that you?” The Doctor stops his companion from coming any closer to her friend, just in case anything goes wrong. Suddenly, the boy collapsed to the ground as the Bad Wolf left his body. “Eric!” cried Esther, running towards her unconscious friend and attempting to pick him up with Charlie’s help. The Doctor quickly placed Eric’s unconscious form to the ground once they returned to the T.A.R.D.I.S. to see if he was still alive. Esther on the other hand noticed the Bad Wolf kneeling beside him, looking down at Eric. “You have to admit, that was tremendously brave of him” she said “Why are you here?” asked Esther “You called me” “No, I didn’t” “Maybe not out loud” Esther paused as the Bad Wolf smirked saying “Save the children” or “Protect the Doctor” like a child annoying their parents. Before the girl could speak, the Bad Wolf appeared once more, face to face by one inch. She tilts her head and finally asks, “Who are you?” Esther paused. “You’re not who you say you are, Esther” said the Bad Wolf, “Your whole life was a lie and you know it. But yet, you chose to believe in it because you knew as a child that grownups lie just to make their children feel better.” The girl stayed quiet as the Bad Wolf leaned in with a serious look in their eyes, “So ask yourself, Esther Lovegood. Who are you? Why did the TARDIS come to you that day? Not just the Cybermen.” “What?” asked Esther before the sound of Eric’s breathing broke the tension.
She quickly helps her friend sit up properly before he could collapse again. Eric and Esther’s eyes meet, smiling softly in relief. “Hey” said Eric “Hi” said Esther, “You alright?” “Yeah” Eric placed his hands to his face, realizing he left his glasses behind on the Dalek ship, “Knew I should’ve kept a spare” he muttered “Actually,” said Esther, “I think you look pretty good without the glasses” Eric blushed at his friend’s words, feeling rather bashful as his heart pounds within his chest. The TARDIS suddenly comes to a complete stop once it returns to Earth in present day London. “When did the TARDIS bring us back?” asked Esther “You two were so caught up in the moment, Charlie and I decided to bring the TARDIS back to Earth” said the Doctor, “You never told me your friend was an excellent engineer” “Naturally~” said Charlie with a proud smile on her face. Esther rolled her eyes before hearing the sound of children’s laughter outside the blue box. The trio of friends make their way to the door, opening it to see the missing children being reunited with their families and playing with one another. “We did it” said Eric, “The children are safe and we defeated the Daleks” “For now” said the Doctor, “Daleks always survive, it’s in their nature. Perhaps one or two, but nothing to worry about for the time being.” Esther nods and looks over to see the same women dressed in purple hiding in an alley. A smirk was shown on her burgundy stained lips and mysterious eyes that looked rather pleased by both the Doctor and Esther’s work, as well as their presence before leaving the scene. “You’re going back to the TARDIS then?” asked Charlie, “Even though you just got here?” Esther smiled sadly at her two friends, “Sorry, guys” she said, “There’s still a lot of things in the universe that I need to see” “We understand, Esther” said Eric, “Just make sure you keep a tight leash on the Doctor as well as yourself. I don’t want you coming back from an alien attack” The girl laughed and shook her head, “I won’t, I promise” she said, “In fact, I’ll come back for Charlie’s Family Christmas Party. You know I never miss that” “You better” said Charlie, “Don’t be afraid to bring us something from your travels” “Will do” With that, Esther hugged her two best friends before heading back to the TARDIS with the Doctor waiting inside.
Next Time on Doctor Who
“So! Where would you like to go next?” “How about Camelot?” “I have never thought I would meet my fair beauty of an imaginary friend again” “Wasn’t there a statue in the garden when we got here?” “Don’t turn your back” “Don’t look away and DON’T BLINK!” “Amy!!”
