What is factkin? (By a Fact-copinglinker)
The general opinion aka hate on factkin seems to be deeply intertwined with the Otherkin community, Theres barely any representation from actual factkins and most of the hate towards factkin individuals is based on false information and stereotypes. I, myself am a little scared to speak up about this because people still have this deeply intertwined hatred towards factkin individuals to this day. I hope youre willing to listen.
So what is factkin? (From a factlinks position.) Factkin, or Factualkin, is having an involuntary kintype that is factual-based. For example, someone who involuntarily identifies in a non-physical way as another person. Tho factkin is not limited to human beings and identities on factual bases like a specific real animal also fall under factkin. For example the dog of your friend, you identify specifically as that dog? Youre factkin.
Factkin is never entirely factual, Its like taking a factual base and fill in cracks with fiction, you arent in another persons head and fill these cracks with what they present to be for ex. online or with your own perception of them, internet personas, on stage personas etc. All of these are factkin identities.
So why are factkin so hated within the community?
1. The term factkin was coined to mock otherkin but has since been reclaimed by Actual factkin individuals. To go against this factkin folk uses the term Factualkin instead, tho factkin is still more broadly known.
2. People claim being factkin is identity theft wich is simply not true. Identity theft is a serious crime involving stealing personal data such as your social security number or credit card information with the intention of making profit. Factkin individuals do not do that.
This identity is Non physical, Factkin individuals are aware of not physically being their kin. I hope i was able to explain factkin to you in a way that it is understandable and in a way that maybe got rid of some stereotypes.
What i also wanted to mention is that theres ethical and unethical ways of handling being factkin. Respecting boundaries is very important, dont go up to your source and tell them you identify as them cause this will make people uncomfortable.
Also stealing someones posts, Storys, name and completely impersonating and copying their online presence isnt something i support as this is also heavily breaking boundaries.
These are things people on instagram were complaining abt as i left out the ethical part on the post first so i thought i might include this here. Im hoping i didnt say anything wrong, dont mind correcting me!

To answer your question: Basically Factkin is an involuntary kintype that is factual based. It's someone who identifies as someone in a non physical way. It's never really factual. It's like taking a factual base and filling in the cracks with fiction. It's based on online personas or how you perceive them. Like I said, it's never really factual since you don't actually know the person.
Of course don't go around telling people you kin them! That's inappropriate and weird!! No one will appreciate that and of course impersonating someone is never okay. People have boundaries and its never okay to do any of that. Factkins know that they aren't like Ryan Reynolds or Matpat. If they genuinely believe this then they aren't a factkin, they are experiencing delusions and suffering from psychosis. Remember, committing crimes and impersonating real people are never okay!!

i sorta dislike fictionkin since i have weird feelings about it and a couple questions so ill put them here since i wanna get more info and maybe make friends with em in the future
heres the main/big one how do the actors/voice actors feel about it since your basically kinning with them/their voice?
this one has kinda a story to it i follow some clangen art blogs and since more popular ones have already started and u commonly have to scroll through them to get up to date. anyways theres art + lore n stuff not in clangen thats added for plot or designs. with those in my mind its practically an oc at that point. somebody asked if anybody else kinned with them or smthin idk i forgot but the main thing is: can people really do that? can you kin ocs even if they arent yours? what happens when they arent your oc?
the whole mcyt kin thing also goes along with both of those questions since those were basically real people acting as their oc-
what happens if you kin with a super horrible person? (ex: homophobic,racist,etc)
