So far, this is the second biggest Northern Raven feather found from the latest excursion. Even with my eyes wide shut, just by the smell, I can guest it is one. Definitely going right away in my collection.
When I'm in the woods, I'm always looking for feathers to add to my collection and the bigger one the better it is. The idea of finding the smallest feather never occur to me, but today it happened and I'm more than happy.
Could say that it's coming from a Mourning Dove cause they're many in this area but, who knows.
Ripped off feather from a Mourning Dove was found on the snow after some arguing over safflower seeds. I've seen many feathers in my life but never like this one.

Hey that is a bit weird. 3 to 4 days ago I dreamed that one Raven left a feather beside their feeding station as a gift. Now this morning after their breakfast, I found one.
I'm not sure if it's a gift or just means that we're in the molting period but, Ravens are known to offer gift as appreciation. And sometimes one of them comes in front of the house, perches on a tree then sings for us for like 5 minutes and then leaves. So, who knows.
Anyway, this one is 7 inches long and will also go right into my collection.

Dinosaur Feathers Discovered in Canadian Amber Today a group of paleontologists announced the results of an extensive study of several well-preserved dinosaur feathers encased in amber. Their work, which included samples from many stages in the evolution of feathers, bolstered the findings of other scientists who’ve suggested that dinosaurs (winged and otherwise) had multicolored and transparent feathers of the sort you might see on birds today.
