When you’re observing me, who do you think I’m observing? PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE (2019) dir. Céline Sciamma
#oc posting and Other Things That Ruined My Life: An Autobiography by strixapades
so fun story from a year ago, demonstrating that I grew up without a tv and don't particularly care about celebrities
Girl of a race I cannot remember (which I feel super bad about rn) in an internet video: people trying to look like my race take away our identity by influencing others to believe that this is what a white person looks like; the Kardashians for example-
Me, completely bewildered: the Kardashians are white?????

How You Meet:
You sighed as you payed another 20$ to fill up the rest of your car’s tank.
Being a makeup artist wasn't easy, sure you were talented and you had very many clientele. You were well known, and successful and you loved that. You had everything you had ever dreamed of.
You just hadn't planned on spending all your money on bills, gas, food, and makeup.
The bills, gas, and food you had expected. That was what it was like living on your own.
But being a makeup artist meant you had to have the right shade for all your clients. So basically when you found a new foundation you liked, you had to purchase every finish in every shade they had. It was the same with everything, concealer, powder, blush, bronzer, eyebrow kits, and even nude lipsticks. And that cost you a lot of money.
You just got hired by Modest! Management and they had already assigned you to be the head makeup artist for their next touring band, The Giants. You had to go to meet the band and then match their skin to the types of makeup you had. You also had to find out whether they would need a dewy finish or a matte finish. It will most likely be matte even if they have dry skin because the lights. You wouldn't want to be the reason that they shined like a spotlight on stage thanks to your dewy finish foundation.
You finally made it to their hotel in New York City and walked in. You smiled at the receptionist and she smiled back as you got in the elevator.
When you got up to their floor and found their room you were surprised to find a tall, curly haired, tattooed, pierced man standing in front of it.
"Um hi." You said as you walked up to him. Surely they weren't that popular. Right?
"Name?" He said slowly in a British accent that made you smile.
"Y/N Y/L/N, I'm their makeup artist." You said and he smiled.
"Oh right hi, I'm Harry Styles, head of security. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other for the next 8 months." He laughed and you smiled.
"Right." You said and he just continued to smiled at you. You were waiting for him to open the door. You had to get back home to feed your bird and your cat. "Um, may I?" You asked, trying to remind him.
"What?" He asked before you gestured to the door and he smiled shaking his head. "Oh, right sorry. Got a little distracted." He said and you nodded. Walking into the room, pulling your giant suitcase with you.
He's going to be a real pain in your ass that's for sure.

going back and watching adventure time after so many years is a truly life changing experience.
//little side post while i get replies done in the middle of doing Arkham Origins, but
something i think i never really realized i loved so much about Riddler and the dynamic he brings is just how much his obsession to prove himself better brings about his downfall. there are many things that can be said about Edward Nygma, but he is ABSOLUTELY one hundred percent as smart as he claims to be. He is an absolute genius and that's not even up for debate.
the horrible part is that Eddie cannot perceive a world where there is anything beyond intellect - he is the biggest believer in brains over brawn, without realizing what that entails. he takes it to an extreme, because all his life he has felt belittled, especially by his father. being a genius isn't good enough. he has to be the best. and you know what? so does Bruce.
Bruce doesn't ever truly try to tell Eddie that what he's doing is stupid, or that he's good enough and that he respects him, because that may just be too easy. Bruce has an addiction to his work, and even if he will never admit it, I firmly believe there's a large part of Bruce that LOVES Eddie's riddles and games. For Bruce, they really ARE the "amusing diversion" that Eddie claims they are.
The biggest difference, however, is that while Bruce indulges in his pride, he has worked hard to hone not only his mind but his body as well. he doesn't suffer the same need to participate in these intellectual contests as Eddie does, though he does enjoy them. It's the difference between knowing when to stop, versus having it define your life.
Another tragedy is Edward's need. It's a psychological compulsion to KNOW, not just to be better. One of the questions he asks most is "how did you do it". And then his obsession over the "how", over how somebody could possibly outsmart him, drives him mad.
he will scream out that none of this was how he planned. he will insist that the batman cheated, that there's no way he could have done it. he will sob and screech to the high heavens and to everyone in arkham, asking how the bat could have possibly escaped his traps.
and he keeps going. because he has nothing else.
ultimately eddie is one of the most tragic figures in my honest opinion. also, most of my knowledge of him admittedly comes from the arkham games, the animated series (specifically "Riddler's Reform), and Matt Reeve's The Batman, so i apologize to my beloved eddie specialists ( @riddlethat and @brokentoys ) if this comes off as weird.
idk i just. really like him as a character.
i just had a chat with my 9 year old sister and now know a few new things about her life as a third grader.
first she is bi and she was so chill and cultured about it that she didn’t see any difference between liking boys vs girls, which makes me so happy. she didn’t feel like she had to come out or explain herself for liking girls, just as she wouldn’t have to for liking boys. it’s honestly amazing that she doesn’t see it as something she has to explain to people like it’s unusual or out of the norm, because it’s not.
on another note though, she just got a boyfriend! so of course i had to give her a talk about what’s appropriate and what not as per my role as big sister. and make sure she knows how to assert boundaries and to make sure she knows she can tell me anything and everything. i gotta make sure my baby sis knows i got her back no matter what.
also found out her best friend is in a committed polyamorous relationship with two other girls. and my sister and their friends don’t think it’s bad or taboo or anything like that which is awesome. honestly, good for them.
anyway i felt like this was something that needed to be out there. i just want anyone who reads this to know times are changing and that’s good.
anyone who reads this just know that it’s ok to love who you love no matter what gender, non-gender, or ethnicity they or you are. and if you don’t want to love someone or your not attracted to someone romantically or sexually that’s ok. you are who you are and you love how you love. just feel how you feel and know that there is always someone out there who does or will love you for who you are, even if you don’t always see them or haven’t met them yet. just know they are there. know that your feelings are valid. know that you are valid. you are amazing and beautiful and i hope that wherever you are and whenever your read this, that this post brought even the smallest bit of happiness into your life.

I made Luz & Amity on Picrew, and I’m honestly not disappointed with how I made them!
(The Sexualities & Genders are just my headcanons.)
