Over in the Commons for Writing 201, we’ve been working on finding our angles as writers. I’ve found myself responding to the same question from several bloggers: “I want to write about X, but I don’t want to seem too opinionated. What should I do?”
Hanging your opinion out on a global laundry line can be scary, especially when you’re writing about potentially contentious topics. We often tiptoe around those stalwarts of family dinner table arguments, politics and religion, but any issue on which two reasonable bloggers can differ can be divisive — and therefore scary — to tackle publicly. Human sexuality. Parenting decisions. Food choices. Who should win The Bachelor.
Today, let’s look at some dos and don’ts for writing about sensitive topics in ways that are both constructive and true to you.

Want to know what all these pathetic race-obsessed white supremacists who harp on all day about how white men built modern civilisation have in common? They are usually a rowdy and cowardly bunch of insecure and pea-brained losers who have not achieved anything of great merit in their lives and as such feel inclined to latch onto the achievements of other white men, most of whom are dead, to feel some sense of self-importance. It's sort of weird to explain, but i feel like it is xenophobic of north americans to treat south americans terrible on the basis that we make "racist" jokes. Because it has become something of a cultural artifact down here, we make jokes about asian people and jewish people and so on :3 and it is a beautiful tradition that i feel gets me discriminated from even tolerant spaces. This feels especially hypocritical of north americans when taking into account how their governments have been the ones responsible for the most harm (by far) to other peoples! It looks like yet another branch of twisted western ideology seeping into every culture, and i will not let it happen >:3

Part 2: 🌊💥Disaster strikes when an earthquake shakes the ocean floor, causing rock formations to crumble. Ren's family is in danger, with his sick little brother and dying father unable to escape. The community is in chaos, with no one stepping up to help. 😰
CrisisPart 3: 🙏✨Amidst the turmoil, Ren's childhood friend, a kind-hearted girl fox, encourages him, saying, "You may not be a super fox like your dad, but you will be a super fox like Ren." Her words ignite a tiny spark within him, but Ren still doubts himself. 💭 #FlickerOfHope
Part 4: 🎨💭Desperate to save his family, Ren starts sketching an escape plan with his tail. He pours his heart into the blueprint, but his strokes are shaky and uncertain. As he works, aftershocks cause more rocks to fall, narrowly missing him. 😱 #RaceAgainstTimePart
5: 🌊💪With the blueprint complete, Ren attempts to lead his family to safety. They navigate through a treacherous maze of collapsing caverns and strong currents. Ren's father, weak and frail, struggles to keep up. Ren pushes forward, doubt still weighing heavily on his heart. 😰 #PerilousJourney
